There is nothing that can bring you closer to nature than showering in the open outdoor shower at the base of ancient redwoods. The earthy woods, the open air, the all season creek, the crackling fire...it brings my creativity alive. I have done some of my best writing and art in this space. The bar is just a few steps down, which was very convenient, and during Christmas the lodge is absolutely beautiful. Although the ad tells it can sleep 10, it has 2.5 rooms with horrible small and smelly beds - far from sleeping even half of that! The entire house is infested with all the bugs you can think of (termites, ants, mosquitoes, etc.), a poorly maintained back yard, a grill that had all the grease and fat of the gazillion guests that have used it before...disgusting. I cant even talk about the kitchen... be aware, this kind of place must be out of business immediately - as its not worthy to host humans.. definitely not for even a fraction of the price.

We split the potato pancakes (two with sour cream and apple sauce, $12) which were served crispy but tasty. They had a nice German beer and wine list. Two workers who built and worked on hundereds of local houses keeping th comunity in shape should not be ridiculed for building vacation houses as a vacation house. Highly suggest Higher Ground Coffee which is a block away, behind the post office.

A highlight is a large hot tub. The dining room is comfortable and roomy enough for 25 people. The staff cooked great breakfasts, lunches and dinners. There is Internet access in the dining room or lodge. I look forward to returning someday.
