Centerpieces on the tables in the garden. Real pineapples!

Oh my goodness this place is adorable. Just got home from a mom/daughter weekend and we LOVED place. Breakfast in the garden everyday was so peaceful and we multiple hummingbirds also eating breakfast in the bird feeders. The location is also perfect because you're right near downtown Gurneville and if you don't feel like walking a couple blocks, you can borrow one of the super cute beach cruisers for free! There's also a fire pit outside to warm up on foggy evenings. All Cottages have quaint little decks where you can enjoy the smell of the redwoods with a lovely cup of coffee/tea on a quiet morning. The Cottages are great but honestly Margaret makes this place extra special. Everything she recommended was spectacular. She told us she did the whole Sonoma cheese trail (over 100 miles long) to make sure she recommends only the best to her guests-what a committed concierge! Margaret's quality hosting skills have made me a loyal customer. I pretty much refuse to stay anywhere else now and can't wait to bring my husband back soon!

I stayed in the cottages with my mom for 4 days. We absolutely loved it! Guerneville has really cute restaurants with great food. The Main Street Bistro even has live jazz on Fridays and Saturdays. The Armstrong Redwood Forest is 5 minutes away, and the coast is about 30 minutes away. The cabin itself was clean and cozy, with a fire place inside for heat. Jenny sets up a great breakfast each morning! We highly recommend staying here!

Be sure to book your stay to be here Wednesdays from 3-4pm for Mermaids and Mimosas (or Mermosas, as the mermaids say) in the summertime--that's right...real mermaids! In mermaid tails! These ladies interact with kids and adults as well as practice synchronized swimming routines. What a pleasant surprise and delight!

We stay at Fern Grove during our annual Russian River trip every summer and we absolutely love it! The little details from the homemade granola and pastries at breakfast to the fun and quirky DVD selection make this place so special. We recently had our wedding at a local venue in the area and Jenny was more than happy to accommodate our guests; she went out of her way to make them feel special. We highly recommend Fern Grove for your next trip to Guerneville!

The cottages are very quaint in a beautiful flower garden setting in the forest. There is a pool but no jacuzzi. We stayed two nights but no cleaning or refresh of the room. The breakfast was sufficient with yummy scones, coffee, and yogurt parfait. The WiFi is great to have access to. It is a close walk to town but no river view or access. There is a nice fire pit in the outdoor BBQ area. I found it a little pricey for what it is.

Pool area

Very cute and cozy cabins. Very well maintained and lush gardens that make you feel like you are transported to a far off land. Convenient to just about everything you would want in the area. Nice pool for the kids, warm and spacious. The only drawbacks are that there is a small garden area with a single outdoor fire pit that unfortunately is a few feet from the smoking area and smokers where there the entire time except for a very short period, making is unusable for a family with children. I would think in our day, especially during a pandemic they would not allow smoking on the small property. In fact it is so compact you will smell the smoke nearly anywhere in the garden areas, a sad fact. The breakfast was disappointing and existed of homemade scones and a yogurt cup with granola and coffee. Not much to accommodate kids in that area, not even any type of juice. I suppose it's all they can do. The owner, lady, was very nice and easy to deal with. All in all a nice getaway for a couple, not so much a family. If smoking was not permitted it would definitely be a nice getaway.

My friends family gave her a night at this place and she asked if I would like to come. Omg, I am coming back with my hubby. Clean and such a beautiful garden the roses now are breathtaking, the pool is warm, had fun watching the mermaids practice. The rooms are lovely and the beds are comfortable, breakfast perfect. Close to the downtown.

Parking lot

A cute little cottage property, great for a weekend away in the woods. Easily located off Hwy 116, only 1 minute drive from "downtown" shops and a large Safeway. Walk next door or less than 5 minute stroll to several cute little options for food & dining. The owners/operators are SO WELCOMING! Great owners pointed out how to get to local attractions like the Russian River (5 min walk), the Pacific Ocean (20 min drive), the Redwoods (10 min drive to State Park). The owners make the scones every morning for the continental breakfast, yum. The courtyard is darling with trees, strung lights, big fire pit, and comfy chairs. The cottages themselves are a bit dated but cute and cozy. The bed was comfortable and not saggy or old, nice and firm. Lots of pillows, and the night breeze coming in the windows at night was so refreshing on our summer visit. Wine glasses, microwave, & mini-fridge provided with TVs and fire stoves and fans, and private bathrooms in each bedroom (cottage 14 & 15 have 2 bedrooms with private baths each). Dog friendly, handicap accessible. You'll love the shade of the trees, the flowers in the garden, and the great pool deck with good seating for hanging out and talking with family & friends.

It was revolting. (picture attached) * Vanity looked new but top drawer would not open and close. The cabinet drawers were not aligned and unstable. Further, the insides of the drawers were already soiled and stained. (pictures attached) * No drawers for clothes. Where do we put our T-shirts? Underwear? Shorts? Pajamas? Lived out of suitcase. * No soap dish next to the sink. All of these, individually experienced, might have been trivial. However, collectively, they add up to an experience of being in a cheap motel. These were not the major issues. The three major issues we had were the flooring, the musty odor in the room and the dirty bathtub. * Floor was dirty. There are some really good restaurants nearby and also a Safeway just down the road. Our unit - #9 - had a bathroom sliding barn door for the bathroom that was hard to slide open and closed. We had to shove it open, then shove to the side to get it opened enough for us to pass through. On our second night the A/C unit was dripping water/condensation onto us and the floor (photo will be included). It wasn't a lot of water, once I wiped it away it didn't do it again. On the second day I also discovered that the mini-fridge had water at the base of the inside so some of the groceries I bought were wet. In the kitchen area, the cabinets were sticky and the trash under the sink was still there from the last people who stayed there. The bathroom door that was not sliding well at all was the most annoying part. Overall none of these things are that bad, but for the price that they charge I expect more - especially with so many minor issues piled up. Most of these things we didn't realize until after we had everything in the unit and were settled, so requesting to move would have been a hassle too. The good is that the bedroom was nice - storage was good, the bed was comfy and clean and overall the space felt nice. I will suggest if you're in a premium Airstream and will have more than two people - for example, kids or a third or fourth adult - sleeping on the sofa, I'd suggest bringing a sleeping bag for them to sleep on/in. They supply a flat sheet, pillow and blanket, but nothing to wrap the sofa/futon in. Mine is not the popular opinion here, but this is a one and done experience with AutoCamp given what we got out of the price that we paid.

Downtown was a short walk (groceries, pizza, sandwiches, anything you need) and on the property there were kitchen spaces for us to hang out with plenty to do on the property. Rooms #11 & 12 were amazing. 11 is the larger room and larger bathroom with 2 full beds. 12 has a pullout sofa and full bed. Easily sleeps 2 couples in each room or mom and dad and 2 kids, but that's not what you're there for. Outside (if you take both spaces) is a large outdoor deck divided in half by a wall but connected so you can get from one room to the other. It has a shared yard beyond that. The landscaping is amazing. The property is on the river with tons of space to chill in the water. They have a deck for the facility and everyone can use it. It's shared so be prepared to be with other people but it is a place that seems to attract a good crowd. Everyone who we ran into there was nice. Another thing on the property they was cool was coffee, fresh ice cold filtered water, popcorn, and the front desk made the kids cotton candy daily. There is an ice machine there as well so you can roast in the sun and drink ice cold filtered water till you pop. That part of the place is in the outdoor kitchen which is community and has board games and seating for everyone. Outside the kitchen is bathrooms and seating areas. 2 fireplaces for s'mores and I believe a bbq pit (I can't remember we have a travel size Traegar they let us use) as well. If I were to get married or have a party it would 1000% be here. I think there is 12 rooms and I'd rent the whole spot for it without even thinking twice. Maybe bring extra help to keep the party rolling but this place legit is perfect for it. They also have like a VIP outdoor seating area we didn't end up getting but has a TV and some "roped off" area to hang out at that is an amazing setup. I can keep going but we loved this place. Even upon arrival our room had spiders have babies in the room (happens yall it's on the river and def outdoorsy) and my wife felt awkward asking because we didn't want to sound like the complaining people but we asked for a vacuum to get them out. The lady actually came in the room and helped us. 5 star stay. 5 star people, oh and being a licensed contractor and getting along with people who work, the people who kept the grounds were cool too. First the location is excellent - it is walkable to downtown Guerneville, which opens up more food options including the amazing Boon restaurant, which we loved so much we had two dinners in a row there. The grounds at Dawn Ranch are also vast with lots of room for pups to run around and for humans to explore. There are 2 pools and direct access to the river, where they also provide kayaks, floaties and beach chairs. There are also 2 food establishments onsite: one offering casual grill items near the pool and the other formal restaurant/bar at the lodge. Overall, the shared space is nicely imagined and used. The only exception is the horrendously narrow parking spots and claustrophobically small cabins. Both still give me anxiety on reflection and are annoying enough that makes me question whether I'd return. The establishment is dog friendly but only certain smaller cabins accept pets so you will be relegated to Sycamore if you bring your pup. They tried to make the cabins nice/luxe with Parachute linens and Frette towels but the Sycamore is just too small, dark and narrow so I found it hard to relax as I was constantly banging my knees on furniture or balancing items on the tiny surfaces for the few pieces of furniture that fit into the room. Comparatively other glamping options like Autocamp, Wild Haven, Mendocino Grove have more space and light so it felt less claustrophobic. This cabin size constraint is the only reason I wouldn't stay again. The other watch point is that Dawn Ranch also hosted a lot of families during our stay so expect screaming children at the pool and picnic areas, especially during summer stays. Since most of the Instagram reels presents Dawn Ranch as relaxing and romantic, it's important to know the vibe can vary. It's such a large property, it would have been nice to have quiet, adult areas instead of having to use earplugs to avoid the gaggles of children. On the other hand, if you have children or dogs, expect them to find themselves companions while on site! We also enjoyed the daily wellness experiences, such as free s'mores at night, crafting activities, journaling, colored sketching, and river activities.
