Crème Brûlée with a chocolate surprise at the bottom!
    Jamey P.

I was treated to a birthday dinner here, and it was a beautiful place to mark another year around the sun! We had a 7:45 pm reservation and were seated at a corner of the restaurant where we had a gorgeous view where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. Stunning! The place is strategically named. During our meal, there was a beautiful pink/blue sunset that was simply wow. I'm still dreaming of the oysters from here. They had a wasabi tobiko and lime ginger mignonette that made them so memorable. We also got the white wine pairing with the oysters that brought it all together. I ordered the prawns & pasta that had the right amount of truffle cream sauce. Sometimes, when you order pasta, you're left with a pool of sauce at the end. Not in this case! My boyfriend got the ahi tuna over forbidden black rice and honey wasabi glazed carrots. He found it delicious! For dessert, we got the crème brûlée with a chocolate layer at the bottom, which pleased the chocoholic in me. Get the spicy mango margarita - it had the right amount of sweet and tang. A local shop owner we met earlier in the day recommended it, and I'm glad she did! Can't forget the bread ;D We got two servings because it was so good. The butter (locally sourced) is served with olive oil and black sea salt, I couldn't get enough of it. Our server was on top of it, checking on us within reasonable intervals. Most tables were filled for a Saturday night. Do be mindful of parking - we were lucky to find a spot near the restaurant, but it seems like spots fill quickly.

    Stunning view of Russian River

We saw this fine dining restaurant by chance during our trip from sea ranch to guerneville. Didn't expect to get a table, but we were lucky enough to get one. The service was awesome, our server Evan quickly got us to our seats and took our orders. We tried the oyster epiphany (fresh oyster with lime ginger and wasabi dressing) I wasn't a big fan of oysters due to its fishy after taste. But this place nailed it! The sauce really paired well, oysters were soo fresh I could go for another round. We also ordered homemade sourdough as starters, the whipped butter was very light , not too overwhelming. The sourdough was soft and the poppy seeds add texture to it. The pairing works so well, we asked for another refill. Now to the main course, the fish tacos were on point, not very memorable to be honest. But the pasta!!! omg you could tell it was hand made, the shrimp were fresh and cleaned it wasn't fishy at all. I was expecting it to be a tomato based pasta, but the sun dried tomato gave such a nice additional profile, sweet and sourness to the truffle based pasta sauce. Last but not least, let's talk about the view! It is not everyday you got to see the end of the river and the start of Pacific Ocean. it was such a stunning view. Overall it is a 5/5 experience!

Beautiful restaurant with stunning views! The food was delicious, and they were so accommodating with my vegan diet and allium allergy--making me a modified version of their tofu dish that turned out amazing. The views are truly hard to beat. We didn't have a car, and they were so kind to call us a taxi at the end of the evening, which we really appreciated. I'd recommend driving since rideshare can be tricky, but we're so grateful for how helpful and attentive they were.

    Sunset, taken from their deck.

Good food with a great view. Get there early, grab a few drinks and go outside on their deck. Food was good, but I would just as soon eat at a truck stop. I am more into simple food. My wife and friends loved the food. It is well worth the trip to the coast for the view. I will definitely be going there again the next time we are in that part of California.

Beautiful day in Jenner. The sky was clear. No wind and that means time for an amazing sunset and dinner. Not many options in Jenner. Bit this place is a winner. Had the pasta with local mushrooms and the duck confit egg rolls. Excellent slaw and sauce for the rolls The mushroom pasta terrific flavors. If in Jenner or Bodega Bay try it. Sunset was ethereal.

We had an amazing dinner with friends at this lovely destination restaurant! Literally where the river meets the sea! You won't be disappointed. But, please have a designated driver to experience the beach.

View from deck with river and ocean during sunset

River's End in Jenner We made the short drive to Jenner during our mid-January birthday trip from the San Jose region and were treated to perfect coastal weather. It was sunny and in the mid-60s, which made the sunset views even more spectacular. North, roughly 10miles up the coast from Bodega Bay, is "The River's End" and it really is at the "River's End" ... the Russian River empties into the Pacific at this location and you can view both the river's mouth and the ocean here. I think we got carried away taking pictures from the deck at sunset. The outdoor deck's seating area is perfect for watching the sunset over the ocean and made for a truly memorable evening. The restaurant also offers Monday and Tuesday local specials, which is a great value. Plus they have discounts on select wines (we had a really good Zin). We ordered fish tacos, Oysters Epiphany, Pozole Verde de Pollo, and finished with a crème brûlée for dessert. Everything was excellent and full of flavor. The owner, Bert Rangel, was our server and made the experience feel personal and welcoming. He actually waits on tables. A small note for first-time visitors: parking is limited and it's not obvious where the restaurant entrance is located. River's End also has small cottages for rent that overlook the ocean, which look like a fantastic place to stay. We didn't try them, but talked to guests who were staying or had stayed there and they had wonderful things to say. We will definitely give it a try in the future. Great food, beautiful views, and a relaxed coastal atmosphere. We would absolutely recommend River's End.

What a special place - I've been missing out. First time here and it was fantastic on all aspects. Set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River flow into the Pacific Ocean. I made sure my dinner reservation spanned the time of the sunset, but unfortunately it was overcast that day. I requested a window seat specifically for the sunset having a fun Mother / Daughter weekend and that request was accommodated. That was really nice since it was busy and we went on a Monday. The views were still very good even with the weather not cooperating. The menu features local flavors- fresh and creative dishes. They have many unique craft cocktails and a great attention to detail - beautiful presentation on both food and drink. They offer a local nights menu (I assume this is week nights) which offers discounted drinks, appetizers and a dinner special. I went with that menu and was beyond impressed with my meal and drink. I had the spicy margarita $9 and the Porc à la grand-mere. Pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon with golden roasted potatoes, caramelized onions with a velvety moutarde sauce $16. That is one heck of a deal and it was so delicious.I also ordered the duck confit rolls - duck, Asian noodles, Napa cabbage served with ginger plum sauce. My daughter went with the celebration menu - $89 3 course dinner - various choices for each course. She went with the crab cake served with white truffle cream sauce, applewood smoked filet mignon with blue cheese walnut butter, fingerling potatoes and port wine reduction, dessert was a kumquat trifle, Bavarian cream, olive oil cake and almonds. Everything was so good, not one thing I would change. I still think about the sauces the meat dishes were served with. It's a relatively small place that fits as many tables as possible with low background music playing- not distracting and can hear each other at the table. The service was friendly and a smooth dinner service. The only thing that gave me a little anxiety was the parking. There is parking in front and to the left of the entrance. We lucked out and got the last available spot, not sure where you'd park if it's full. The restaurant is along the coastal hwy where parking on the street isn't really available close by. Felt fortunate it worked out. If you haven't been it's definitely worth a visit. This place is a five star experience.

Great location and views, Food was great, Service was good. Only negative thing was that I ordered the pre-fix for $99 but without the glass of wine and it should have been $89. However I didn't realize they charged the full price until after I left.

Cream of Mushroom Soup Duck Confit Rolls

Make a reservation early and snag a view by the window to watch the sunset. Their wine selection was excellent and the oyster shooter was phenomenal. Cream of mushroom soup was also good but too creamy for my wife. The burger was also good but the white fish of the day was a bit bland.

    Our room

My husband and I got a room and dinner both at River's End to celebrate our one year anniversary. It simply couldn't have been more special. The room was so cozy, so welcoming, and the view so absolutely beautiful. That being said, what really made it special was the dinner reservation at the restaurant. It was a nice environment without being too stuffy. The view, the food, and the service - all unbeatable. We decided after dinner that Evan, our server was the best server we have ever had. He really just went above and beyond. He seemed to truly care about our dining experience and just went over the top to make our dinner truly special and enjoyable. He was friendly but not invasive, attentive and informative. He gave great suggestions about the menu. He was truly the cherry on top of our experience. He even came back and kindly thanked us for a generous tip. My husband and I were in awe / in all our years of dining together(and we've been everywhere!) we have never had a server personally thank us for a generous tip. I could have hugged him in that moment , it was so genuinely kind and human of him. My husband and I joked that truly, there's no reason for a server to be THAT good. Thank you Evan for making us feel so special on our first anniversary and only anniversary without a baby. We can't wait to come back to see you and we hope your pillow is cold on both sides

I came here on a stormy Friday night to celebrate a milestone birthday with my family. We almost changed our reservation due to the rainstorm, but I am so grateful that we kept it. As others have noted, this was the best dining experience overall that I've had, and I'm so happy that this is a memory I will hold close to my heart for my special birthday. The service felt personalized, the food and drinks were incredible, the atmosphere was lovely, and our seating area was intimate. What more could we ask for from a restaurant? We especially enjoyed the fresh bread with black pepper, butter, and olive oil, as well as the tagliatelle with overnight-cured tomatoes and mushrooms and the ahi tuna over rice. The chocolate mousse and herbal tea closed out the evening perfectly. Throughout the night, we felt free to enjoy the space at our own pace and never once felt rushed. The restaurant struck a rare balance, equally well suited for a special occasion or a more casual evening out. They even brought out a special menu for my son, which made him feel much more comfortable in a fine-dining establishment like this one. We left feeling genuinely cared for and already looking forward to returning!

Outstanding on all counts. The services was impeccable. the food was perfectan the views and ambiance was pure Sonoma Coast. Where to begin. We were there for our anniversary and the wait staff made special note of that and started us out with a complimentary glass of champagne. Very good vintage mind you. Our app was the Duck Confit eggrolls. Crispy wonton rolls (4) filled with duck confit, asian noodles, napa cabbage, carrot and water chestnuts served with our ginger plum dipping sauce. Beautiful. I had the West County Burger. all-natural beef valley ford smoked cheddar cheese, house bbq sauce, and crispy leeks served on a toasted bun and fries. I had my BBQ sauce on the side. My wife had the Petrale Sole. Lightly grilled petrale sole set over lightly baked turnips and sauteed rainbow chard finished with a mandarin orange sauce. Our finish was the Creme Brule. Outstanding!!!!.

Ask the Community - River's End Restaurant & Inn

Are dogs allowed on the outside patio?

I'm not sure, when we were there we went through the restaurant to get to the patio. It's not a very large patio either. I would give them a quick call, based on my impression I'm leaning towards no. But could be wrong. Sorry I wasn't more help!

I don't see any vegan options. Does the mushroom soup have any dairy?

I am not sure but they are very accommodating. They would probably work with you. I'd give them a call!

    Are cabins dog-friendly?

We are a no pet property. We will allow for validated service animals.

Does this restaurant offer vegetarian options? I saw only one salad on the menu listed in yelp.

I think they will work with you. Give them a call

Is this restaurant part of a hotel/resort? Looks absolutely lovely place to visit or stay. Thanks

Not a hotel or resort, but several lovely cabins adjacent to the best restaurant in the world..

Can we bring our dog if we sit out on the deck?

They have a no pets, no smoking policy for the cabins. I have never seen anyone there on the restaurant deck with a pet either. It's not very wide and I believe the only access to it is through the restaurant.

Anyone know how much corkage is at dinner?

    $20 per 750ml bottle. Cheers!

Now that we're on the Sonoma coast quite often I wasn't quite ready for a sit down, so I decided to take the chowder to go. According to the hostess, the bar staff would take my to go order. So I probably sat at the bar for I want to think about five minutes before I was even acknowledged that's very disappointing. it really gives you a dismissive feeling when other guests are being intended. I'm not talking about a large group 4 down to two people, and I honestly felt ignored. Any way I waited patiently and was finally asked if I could be helped so I said yeah I wanna place it to go order. I'm kind of driving down the road and I just wanna take it to go. That was no problem. I wandered around the property, which is really lovely while I waited for my chowder. My receipt came to approximately $37 for my to go order of only two servings of chowder. I served it that evening, along with a salad and some filet mignon in the comfort of our own accommodations. While the flavor was whatever I remembered, it was a great flavor. It's rich and it's definitely comfort food. However, the potatoes were all raw basically uncooked not at all what I would expect for a seafood chowder. While the potatoes should be not mushy, these were just nearly raw. After the anticipation of looking forward to enjoying and sharing this dish, I feel pretty disappointed. So I can cross this one off my foodie bucket list. Been there done that was just OK. #coastkitchen

TLDR: Nice romantic getaway…read more I don't normally review hotels. But the hotel is special, so I'm doing something special as well! I know I'm going to sound like a infomercial, but this place HAS EVERYTHING. It's got a GREAT restaurant (which I'll definitely review in a bit), they have a Record library (AND every room has a record player), they have board games, they have outdoor games, they have hiking trails, they have an Exercise room!, they have BEAUTIFUL scenery. About the only thing missing, is probably a pool. But given the fact that we came in the SUMMER and it was STILL very chilly, I doubt anyone would be swimming anyway. You can always just drive 15 minutes to the beach and swim in the ocean anyway. All the staff were super friendly, from the housekeepers to the front desk. I also like the fact the front desk guy even knew my name! Every time I talked to him, he always greeted me by name. Unfortunately, I wish I knew his name... but anyway that was a great touch. We chose this place because it was a pet-friendly place. The fee was a bit high, but it included a doggie bed and 2 bowls and some doggie treats. Too bad we have cats... heh. But the thought was really appreciated! It was clear the bedrooms have been remodeled, because even though the exterior looked old... the inside was anything but. Nice hardwood floors, an open bathroom with 3 swinging barn doors. We splurged and got the balcony with an ocean view. It was all soooo Romantic and lovely. Truly a special place to stay. Wifi was excellent, and they had a modern smart TV as well. They even provide complimentary pastries early in the morning, and cookies at night! Will definitely want to stay here again for a nice getaway! Only downside is getting here... involves some hairpin turns. My wife got carsick unfortunately.

Downtown was a short walk (groceries, pizza, sandwiches, anything you need) and on the property there were kitchen spaces for us to hang out with plenty to do on the property. Rooms #11 & 12 were amazing. 11 is the larger room and larger bathroom with 2 full beds. 12 has a pullout sofa and full bed. Easily sleeps 2 couples in each room or mom and dad and 2 kids, but that's not what you're there for. Outside (if you take both spaces) is a large outdoor deck divided in half by a wall but connected so you can get from one room to the other. It has a shared yard beyond that. The landscaping is amazing. The property is on the river with tons of space to chill in the water. They have a deck for the facility and everyone can use it. It's shared so be prepared to be with other people but it is a place that seems to attract a good crowd. Everyone who we ran into there was nice. Another thing on the property they was cool was coffee, fresh ice cold filtered water, popcorn, and the front desk made the kids cotton candy daily. There is an ice machine there as well so you can roast in the sun and drink ice cold filtered water till you pop. That part of the place is in the outdoor kitchen which is community and has board games and seating for everyone. Outside the kitchen is bathrooms and seating areas. 2 fireplaces for s'mores and I believe a bbq pit (I can't remember we have a travel size Traegar they let us use) as well. If I were to get married or have a party it would 1000% be here. I think there is 12 rooms and I'd rent the whole spot for it without even thinking twice. Maybe bring extra help to keep the party rolling but this place legit is perfect for it. They also have like a VIP outdoor seating area we didn't end up getting but has a TV and some "roped off" area to hang out at that is an amazing setup. I can keep going but we loved this place. Even upon arrival our room had spiders have babies in the room (happens yall it's on the river and def outdoorsy) and my wife felt awkward asking because we didn't want to sound like the complaining people but we asked for a vacuum to get them out. The lady actually came in the room and helped us. 5 star stay. 5 star people, oh and being a licensed contractor and getting along with people who work, the people who kept the grounds were cool too. Super nice to our kids, and when you see the landscape, you can tell they are good at their job. Can't say enough good stuff. We will be back.

I recently visited the Inn on the Russian River in Monte Rio, Sonoma County, and was pleasantly…read moresurprised by this charming little boutique lodge. I planned my trip very last minute and had a difficult time finding lodging, so discovering this friendly and welcoming place was such a pleasant surprise. The owners were extremely accommodating, friendly, and welcoming. From the moment we arrived, I felt right at home. You can tell that a lot of care and thought went into the décor, the atmosphere, and the overall experience. The lodge is small, with only a handful of rooms, and is located directly off Highway 116. One thing I would recommend is requesting a room with a balcony overlooking the river. Our room was very close to the highway, so it could be noisy at times, but the room itself was very comfortable. I visited with my cousin, and we stayed in a two-bedroom room that had everything we needed, including a mini fridge, microwave, and toaster. The bathroom was also well stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The outdoor areas were one of my favorite parts of the property. There are beautiful patio areas, barbecue spaces, and an outdoor kitchen where you can prepare your own meals. They even provide a refrigerator, ice maker, and sink, along with two beautiful fire pits. It really feels like a place where families and friends can gather, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. The property itself is gorgeous. One of my favorite moments was sitting on the tranquil dock overlooking the crystal-clear Russian River. I felt completely transported to another place and time. It was peaceful, beautiful, and the perfect way to slow down and enjoy nature. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby, and the wineries are just a short drive away. We spent a day wine tasting, which was lovely and made for a perfect addition to our stay. I would recommend the Inn on the Russian River for a weekend getaway or even a longer stay. We stayed for five days and really enjoyed our experience. The owners made us feel incredibly welcome, and their hospitality was one of the highlights of our visit. Overall, this is a beautiful, peaceful, family-friendly place with a wonderful atmosphere. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature, I would definitely recommend giving the Inn on the Russian River a try. I would happily stay here again!

We love taking our dog on vacation so, we are always looking for dog friendly hotels. This review…read moreis in between a 4 and a 5. The kindness of the staff makes it a five. Pros: this was a very charming estate and the staff was beyond kind to both of us and our pup. He was welcome everywhere except the dining room, the pool and spa. The room was very cute and clean. The only downside for me and my allergies is that there is wood fireplace in each room. The bathroom had plenty of hot water. The breakfast was from 8-10 am in the dining room and had a decent meat-less spread. Toast, bagels, oatmeal and toppings, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, fruit salad, coffee, tea assortment and juices. The grounds are super cute and weather permitting there is a movie playing on a projector with complimentary s'mores to cook on the outdoor wood fire. Since we had our dog, we didn't use the pool or spa. "Aunt Kay" we interacted with the most and was so kind to both of us and Dio. She made our stay! Not only was she informative but also checked in on us when we we'd pass through the lobby. Dio was a big fan of her. Cons: if you have allergies or are sensitive to wood smoke, this is not your destination. Again, there are wood burning fireplaces in each room and a large fire pit by the movie. The room we stayed at is across from the pool and it can get noisy. You can also hear everyone that walks in front of your room. Along with that there is a lot of wildlife, so you may need ear plugs. If you need to sleep in the dark, the front blinds are going to still let in light, so bring a sleep mask. Update: we got a text that I forgot my socks in the room. They offered to mail them to us, we declined. I don't remember the last time house keeping and the front office too the time to be that considerate.

The room itself was very clean, sheets, bathroom, everything was very clean. I always get paranoid about bed bugs and we had zero issues. The breakfast in the morning was also very nice and fresh with good options. They had eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, cream cheese, very delicious fruit, oatmeal, coffee and tea. That alone made it a reasonable place to stay. The dining room was also very clean. I also really liked that they had the outdoor movie theater and smores. Our kids loved it each night. The library/game room is also such a cute unique area that is great for those who have kids. However now to the bad. That includes the cute library. While a cute idea, it's extremely dirty filled with dead flies and bees all over the windows and even cushions. The windows on the outside have not been clean in a very long time. The dead flies, bees are everywhere. There on the floor, the light fixtures, jacuzzi and pool. The jacuzzi had so many dead bugs in the water and the water also had probably dirt from people's bodies. It was very unsanitary and disappointing to say the least. The property itself is not maintained. There are bugs, weeds, and poor condition of most of the outside of the property. It's too bad because it could be a great place to stay if they just did some extra work to clean up. Part of me would want to come back because of the breakfast and outdoor movie but they really need to take the time to clean.
