We ordered pasta and of course could not pass up on the Elk special dish. It was a nice treat to know they have locals special menu available as well, so we also enjoyed oysters. Wish I had known a couple of details before planning my anniversary dinner here. This place is known for epic views, naturally we wanted a table with a view so I called a week in advance to request just that. The woman I spoke to said she would put it in her notes and that specific tables are not able to be held. She assured me we would have a good spot so I took her word for it. This was our first time coming here and its an hour drive. There is very minimal parking. We were lucky to get a spot as someone was leaving. We were seated at the worst table this place has to offer, right at the entrance to the bar and kitchen, in a narrow walkway, there is a window for one person to look out of and the other seat is looking into the kitchen as the table is positioned halfway in the middle of a window, so one side is against a wall and a view of the kitchen. The busy waitstaff was coming in and out quickly from both areas and walking past us with plates and such, it was chaotic at best. It felt almost insulting to be seated here as we had made a request well in advance to celebrate our anniversary which was also not acknowledged. Another party was just leaving so I was able to request to move. We were then seated at a 2 top table just outside of the atrium with a direct view thru a window of another 2 top table on the other side of the glass so when you go to look out the window its like you are staring at the people at the table thru the glass partition. We were so deflated by this whole seating situation. I say all of this to point out that if you are a party of 2 there is barely any tables with a clear view for both people so keep that in mind! If you have a party of 4-6 you have a much better chance of a better table. Really wish I had known that!!! The interior was nice enough but lacking the romance and ambiance I had hoped for, can we get some candles or flowers on the tables? Seems like an obvious detail overlooked. As far as the menu we were a bit underwhelmed by the offerings, there is a prefix menu and a small menu adjacent with minimal options like lamb and elk or vegetarian.... Probly should have looked at that before making this reservation but I had heard how amazing it was so I just took a chance. Although the choices were limited we enjoyed everything we ordered, food and drinks. Our waitress was nice and did a good job for us overall but definitely was more attentive and informative to the group adjacent to us which was a bit disappointing. Again this was a celebratory dinner and it just fell short for us in that way as it was not acknowledged Our tab was a little over 300$ portions were modest although tasty. I enjoyed the drinks and desert the most. To sum it up, I wont be going out of my way again to come back here. If I found myself in the area I might enjoy stopping in for a drink and dessert. My husband and I have stayed here in the past on a couple of occasions and really enjoyed the location for the views and dining. Our first visit the cabins were a bit too "rustic" for our liking, and we were grateful to only be there for one evening. The linens were clean and the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom was TINY, and the window would not shut due to the lean of the cabin. We enjoyed the fresh air throughout the evening, and had plenty of blankets to keep warm. The view of the Ocean and mouth of the River was amazingly beautiful to watch the sunset and we have views from our room and the restaurant. The restaurant was amazing, and what really made the experience next level. I can't remember what we ate, but I have longed to go back remembering it was delicious. We did stay the second time in their Oceana room in the home collection which was much more our style. There were no issues with the windows or doors, there was a private hot tub, and the deck was much more spacious. We had a kitchen to cook in, including a full size refrigerator and oven. Since our last stay the common beach area had been hit by a rough storm and had changed the landscape significantly. It was a reminder that Mother Nature can change things in an instant, and never take it for granted. Having the private space of the home collection made this less of a hit on our experience since we didn't need to use it. The restaurant delivered again with an amazing meal, beet salad, filet mignon, and bread service. I look forward to our next trip and plan to bring my parents out and spend some quality time together, listening to music, playing games, watching the ocean, and eating amazing food. I was treated to a birthday dinner here, and it was a beautiful place to mark another year around the sun! We had a 7:45 pm reservation and were seated at a corner of the restaurant where we had a gorgeous view where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. Stunning! The place is strategically named. During our meal, there was a beautiful pink/blue sunset that was simply wow. I'm still dreaming of the oysters from here. They had a wasabi tobiko and lime ginger mignonette that made them so memorable. We also got the white wine pairing with the oysters that brought it all together. I ordered the prawns & pasta that had the right amount of truffle cream sauce. Sometimes, when you order pasta, you're left with a pool of sauce at the end. Not in this case! My boyfriend got the ahi tuna over forbidden black rice and honey wasabi glazed carrots. He found it delicious! For dessert, we got the crème brûlée with a chocolate layer at the bottom, which pleased the chocoholic in me. Get the spicy mango margarita - it had the right amount of sweet and tang. A local shop owner we met earlier in the day recommended it, and I'm glad she did! Can't forget the bread ;D We got two servings because it was so good. The butter (locally sourced) is served with olive oil and black sea salt, I couldn't get enough of it. Our server was on top of it, checking on us within reasonable intervals. From the moment we walked in the door we were comfortable. Our hostess knew our reservation by name and sat us immediately. Tables for two along the windows all had stunning views. The pre fixe menu just as impressive as the views. My ahi tuna starter was excellent as well as the lamb chop pops. Mezcal margarita was smokey and delicious. Parking out front was slim but we were not affected by it being we were staying in the neighborhood. There was extra parking in a lot down the hill but that might not be suitable for everyone. I have only been to this restaurant once as every other time I went I've been turned away by staff stating "we don't take reservations, it's first come first serve" reading these reviews makes me feel discriminated against as they clearly take reservations per recent reviews super disappointed considering I'm a 20% tipper on my food and an even better tipper for a good bar tender. Views are great food was amazing the gazpacho was the best wife still talks about it regularly. Parking isn't ideal but for the location it's expected place has an amazing back story and even better views. We saw this fine dining restaurant by chance during our trip from sea ranch to guerneville. Didn't expect to get a table, but we were lucky enough to get one. The service was awesome, our server Evan quickly got us to our seats and took our orders. We tried the oyster epiphany (fresh oyster with lime ginger and wasabi dressing) I wasn't a big fan of oysters due to its fishy after taste. But this place nailed it! The sauce really paired well, oysters were soo fresh I could go for another round. We also ordered homemade sourdough as starters, the whipped butter was very light , not too overwhelming. The sourdough was soft and the poppy seeds add texture to it. The pairing works so well, we asked for another refill. Now to the main course, the fish tacos were on point, not very memorable to be honest. But the pasta!!! omg you could tell it was hand made, the shrimp were fresh and cleaned it wasn't fishy at all. I was expecting it to be a tomato based pasta, but the sun dried tomato gave such a nice additional profile, sweet and sourness to the truffle based pasta sauce. Beautiful restaurant with stunning views! The food was delicious, and they were so accommodating with my vegan diet and allium allergy--making me a modified version of their tofu dish that turned out amazing. The views are truly hard to beat. We didn't have a car, and they were so kind to call us a taxi at the end of the evening, which we really appreciated. Snagged a sunset reservation for this place this weekend and had a lovely time. Pros: Food seemed solid, and they were really flexible with the menu options. We didn't drink but they seemed to have an extensive cocktail and wine menu which is a plus. There's nothing like this view, so I must say a lot of the praise I'm giving in this review is solely because of how beautiful this sunset really was. Cons: Service is a bit hectic, navigating the narrow space and having the host wear a few hats. There was a line of people waiting to be checked in the entire time we were here, so something could definitely be done to help move things along. My partner and I came to Guerneville during the 4th of July weekend. We were lucky we were able to score a reservation a couple weeks before our visit. The ambiance is phenomenal and we are so glad we came when it was before sunset. The day was really overcast (which I loved) so we did not really see the coast but it gave it a nice whimsical oceanic vibe. First and foremost, parking can be a little tricky if the restaurant is full-house. We had to park down the highway and walking along the highway after dinner/sunset where there are no lights, was not ideal. The staff was attentive. A couple things - the ambiance is gorgeous, the staff is very friendly, and the food is good. I say "good" because it was nothing to knock our socks off, for the price we pay. Also, there were not enough vegetarian options. There was only one option for a vegetarian entree, and a salad, with some sides. I would say if there were more vegetarian options, I'd give it a 5 star. It's nice but if you are looking for something around the general area for this price point, Healdsburg has better food options. read more

River's End in Jenner We made the short drive to Jenner during our mid-January birthday trip from the San Jose region and were treated to perfect coastal weather. It was sunny and in the mid-60s, which made the sunset views even more spectacular. North, roughly 10miles up the coast from Bodega Bay, is "The River's End" and it really is at the "River's End" ... the Russian River empties into the Pacific at this location and you can view both the river's mouth and the ocean here. I think we got carried away taking pictures from the deck at sunset. The outdoor deck's seating area is perfect for watching the sunset over the ocean and made for a truly memorable evening. The restaurant also offers Monday and Tuesday local specials, which is a great value. Plus they have discounts on select wines (we had a really good Zin). We ordered fish tacos, Oysters Epiphany, Pozole Verde de Pollo, and finished with a crème brûlée for dessert. Everything was excellent and full of flavor. The owner, Bert Rangel, was our server and made the experience feel personal and welcoming. He actually waits on tables. A small note for first-time visitors: parking is limited and it's not obvious where the restaurant entrance is located. River's End also has small cottages for rent that overlook the ocean, which look like a fantastic place to stay. We didn't try them, but talked to guests who were staying or had stayed there and they had wonderful things to say. We will definitely give it a try in the future. What a special place - I've been missing out. First time here and it was fantastic on all aspects. Set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River flow into the Pacific Ocean. I made sure my dinner reservation spanned the time of the sunset, but unfortunately it was overcast that day. I requested a window seat specifically for the sunset having a fun Mother / Daughter weekend and that request was accommodated. That was really nice since it was busy and we went on a Monday. The views were still very good even with the weather not cooperating. The menu features local flavors- fresh and creative dishes. They have many unique craft cocktails and a great attention to detail - beautiful presentation on both food and drink. They offer a local nights menu (I assume this is week nights) which offers discounted drinks, appetizers and a dinner special. I went with that menu and was beyond impressed with my meal and drink. I had the spicy margarita $9 and the Porc à la grand-mere. Pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon with golden roasted potatoes, caramelized onions with a velvety moutarde sauce $16. That is one heck of a deal and it was so delicious.I also ordered the duck confit rolls - duck, Asian noodles, Napa cabbage served with ginger plum sauce. My daughter went with the celebration menu - $89 3 course dinner - various choices for each course. She went with the crab cake served with white truffle cream sauce, applewood smoked filet mignon with blue cheese walnut butter, fingerling potatoes and port wine reduction, dessert was a kumquat trifle, Bavarian cream, olive oil cake and almonds. Everything was so good, not one thing I would change. I still think about the sauces the meat dishes were served with. It's a relatively small place that fits as many tables as possible with low background music playing- not distracting and can hear each other at the table. The service was friendly and a smooth dinner service. The only thing that gave me a little anxiety was the parking. There is parking in front and to the left of the entrance. We lucked out and got the last available spot, not sure where you'd park if it's full. The restaurant is along the coastal hwy where parking on the street isn't really available close by. Felt fortunate it worked out. If you haven't been it's definitely worth a visit. This place is a five star experience. read more

My husband and I got a room and dinner both at River's End to celebrate our one year anniversary. It simply couldn't have been more special. The room was so cozy, so welcoming, and the view so absolutely beautiful. That being said, what really made it special was the dinner reservation at the restaurant. It was a nice environment without being too stuffy. The view, the food, and the service - all unbeatable. We decided after dinner that Evan, our server was the best server we have ever had. He really just went above and beyond. He seemed to truly care about our dining experience and just went over the top to make our dinner truly special and enjoyable. He was friendly but not invasive, attentive and informative. He gave great suggestions about the menu. He was truly the cherry on top of our experience. He even came back and kindly thanked us for a generous tip. My husband and I were in awe / in all our years of dining together(and we've been everywhere!) we have never had a server personally thank us for a generous tip. I could have hugged him in that moment , it was so genuinely kind and human of him. My husband and I joked that truly, there's no reason for a server to be THAT good. I came here on a stormy Friday night to celebrate a milestone birthday with my family. We almost changed our reservation due to the rainstorm, but I am so grateful that we kept it. As others have noted, this was the best dining experience overall that I've had, and I'm so happy that this is a memory I will hold close to my heart for my special birthday. The service felt personalized, the food and drinks were incredible, the atmosphere was lovely, and our seating area was intimate. What more could we ask for from a restaurant? We especially enjoyed the fresh bread with black pepper, butter, and olive oil, as well as the tagliatelle with overnight-cured tomatoes and mushrooms and the ahi tuna over rice. The chocolate mousse and herbal tea closed out the evening perfectly. Throughout the night, we felt free to enjoy the space at our own pace and never once felt rushed. The restaurant struck a rare balance, equally well suited for a special occasion or a more casual evening out. They even brought out a special menu for my son, which made him feel much more comfortable in a fine-dining establishment like this one. We were there for our anniversary and the wait staff made special note of that and started us out with a complimentary glass of champagne. Very good vintage mind you. Our app was the Duck Confit eggrolls. Crispy wonton rolls (4) filled with duck confit, asian noodles, napa cabbage, carrot and water chestnuts served with our ginger plum dipping sauce. Beautiful. I had the West County Burger. all-natural beef valley ford smoked cheddar cheese, house bbq sauce, and crispy leeks served on a toasted bun and fries. I had my BBQ sauce on the side. This review is for the Inn only. We did not try the restaurant. We stayed in Cabin 1 which is right next door to the restaurant. For the view I would give it 5 stars. Absolutely gorgeous views of the river and ocean. When it comes to the service it's hard to say. We only stayed one night and since they leave your cabin open and waiting for you we never once spoke to anyone or saw anyone from the Inn. As for the room, the cabin was cute. It could use some serious updating/maintenance. You are perched on the side of the cliff and it seems the whole cabin has a slight lean to it. Definitely the porch needs work. There is a lean to it and the railing is very shaky. One good bump and you would be rolling down the hill. The parking space is very tight but is right next to the cabin...it also seems to lean toward the hill and the pavement and rail are falling down at the end. In the room the couch is very comfy and the bed was soft...but again felt like it was leaning. The bathroom is decent, large counter, plenty of hot water and lots towels. Weird part was the coffee pot, coffee cups, wine glasses, coffee supplies were all located in the bathroom on the sink counter. Not the most sanitary place to make your morning coffee!! There is ample room in the main area to put a small table for all of this...oh and the mini fridge is under the bathroom sink and was left unplugged. A few tweaks inside and a little bit of building maintenance and this would be a great cabin. They do have some newer/larger homes down the hill that we may consider on our next trip. Overall it was a great experience...and again a gorgeous view!! read more

We made a 5:00 reservation and called ahead earlier in the day to request a window/ocean-view table since we were celebrating our anniversary. On the phone, we were told that if we arrived when they opened at 4:30, we would have a better chance at getting a good table. We followed that advice and arrived early at 4:33, making us the first guests to walk into the restaurant. We did put it in the notes on Resy we were celebrating an anniversary and wanted an ocean view table! We were told to wait at the bar, which we were completely fine with. However, we ended up waiting until 5:02 to be seated and were sat third, despite being the first to arrive and the group that had been waiting the longest. While we were waiting at the bar, other groups came in after us and were also told to wait. Once the bar seats filled up and we had already finished our drinks and were clearly ready to be seated, the next group that walked through the door was seated first without the host ever checking in with us. We were then seated after them and placed at a corner table with no view. This was frustrating because we had specifically requested a window/ocean-view table when we made the reservation hours in advance and again when we called. We intentionally arrived early based on what we were told, yet we watched several groups who arrived after us get seated at the ocean-view tables we had hoped for. We also noticed that many other guests were complaining about where they were being seated. It appeared that the host avoided seating the first guests of the evening at the ocean-view tables and instead allowed those tables to fill with later arrivals before seating everyone else. When questioned, the host mentioned that those tables were being held for specific reservations that had requested them. However, we were never given the option to reserve a specific table despite calling ahead and making a clear request, which made that explanation feel inconsistent. What made the experience even more disappointing was the lack of acknowledgment for our anniversary. We had mentioned it in our reservation notes, yet no one recognized or acknowledged it. Meanwhile, we could hear staff asking nearby tables what they were celebrating and congratulating them on birthdays and other occasions. The service itself wasn't outright rude, but the seating process felt disorganized and inconsiderate of reservations and special requests. It was frustrating to see later-arriving guests receive the view seating and celebratory attention we had planned our visit around. For a place known for its atmosphere and setting, we expected a bit more attentiveness and fairness. I hope this feedback is taken constructively so future guests celebrating special occasions feel acknowledged and that reservations, especially early ones with specific requests, are handled more thoughtfully. read more

River's end is one of our favorite places to visit. This is about our 5th time here and it is super special. When you're here, besides the overall beauty and amazing views, make sure you take time to say hello and get to know the staff here, as they are truly lovely. We don't view this as a restaurant, this is just a wonderful place to be. Sit at the bar and have a great Martini, and just enjoy yourself. Try the homemade pappardelle, or an excellent bowl of clam chowder. If you're lucky, they might have oysters with a wasabi lime twist which is one of my favorites. Relax, you're on Jenner time, so just enjoy River's End and everything this wonderful sleepy town has to give. read more

We stayed there two or three times and did again this time, but the building is starting to be in total disrepair. If you look up at the building from the beach, I think you'd be afraid to stay there. Between cabins the area underneath, the pavement is giving away, and the wood has rotted that holds it in place. The underneath the buildings has all fallen away. There used to be a path from the bottom of the building to the beach below, but it is laying in parts in total disrepair , it would look better if they just remove the parts so you wouldn't see how badly the place is falling apart. It is so sad to see this because the restaurant is so good ! read more

We opted for the tasting menu. We thought the entrees were just alright but the appetizers and desserts were amazing! Heirloom tomato salad 5/5 The balsamic dressing they use on this is probably the best I've ever had. It had a thick syrup and was the perfect amount of tart. I also like the cheese they put on top. Ahi poke 5/5 The crisps were fried absolutely perfectly and I loved the ginger dressing they put with the fish and cucumbers. Applewood smoked filet mignon 4/5 We got the steak medium rare but it was a little bit chewy for me. Duck breast and wedges 4.5/5 Super tasty duck breast and you can taste something special with the potato wedges that have been fried in the duck oil. Sole 4/5 This fish was put on top of a butternut squash puree. Just okay in my opinion. Our creme brulee 5/5 So delicious and not overly sweet at all. The sugar top was perfect and the creme brulee was so creamy and smooth. Berry trifle 5/5 A great choice as well (although the creme brulee was my favorite). Basically a cake in a cup. read more

The vibe isn't too overly fancy but the view is lovely and you're in a nice woods-y cabin. I'm pleasantly surprised at how good the food was because sometimes spots with great views don't try as hard with food quality but it's different here. Everything we had was well flavored and nicely done. The elk was unique with the tangerine sauce while the local bay prawns were very fresh in my pasta. No complaints. We enjoyed the view right by the window as a nice plus to all this. Easy to get in and out of the area despite the parking being small. It's free as well. read more

Easily one of my favorite meals of all time. Expert service and delicious food. We dined here for our 30th wedding anniversary. As we were being seated, a close friend had ordered a bottle of champagne that was waiting in the chiller beside our table. The server noticed this, took the menus away, opened the bottle and said, "Enjoy this and we'll talk about dinner a little later." A great way to start! Relaxed and enjoyable. As I sat looking out the window at the sea and enjoying one of the finest pasta dishes I've ever eaten, I could only think how I wish I lived closer to come more often. As the sun went down I could see the reflection of the glass kitchen windows in the outer glass. What struck me about this was watching the chefs methodically, but also elegantly go about their craft. It was mesmerizing. First, the food was very good. Service was excellent. The restaurant is very small. I was seated in a path and people were bumping into my chair. Lastly, it is extremely expensive. Maybe I'm out of touch but spending $175.00 on dinner for two is exorbitant. I don't think we'll be returning. read more

Great sunset from the deck while waiting foe our table. Staff was friendly and we enjoyed the oysters, salad and veggies. The $70 Elk dish was well done on the first slice and nearly raw on the last. This is a Real gem and everything about it is understated first class on all fronts. The owners take pride in how you are greeted, treated and the food Dave creates never disappoints. Sauces are incredible, and the presentation is definitely 5 stars! LOVE the experience each and every time we dine, stay and enjoy this beautiful part of the coast. . Music is always soft and classic to allow for a real conversation with your meal. Hard to find these days. The duck confit rolls had another amazing sauce to take it up another notch. Elk with baby carrots fantastic and worth the $. Weather this trip was absolutely stunning which was another star if could be added.
