My Husband and I have been clients of Elements in Palatine for over 10 years. The studio was sold in the summer and has gone to crap ever since. All the good therapists quit, and they fired the front desk staff and hired all new. Unfortunately, the new staff have no clue because they were never trained. It used to be that if our schedule changed someone would call. Now they just cancel your appointment without notice. We have even shown up to our appointment to have them tell us we are with a different therapist than we scheduled or that our appointment was cancelled. Today my Husband went to his appointment after 15 minutes sitting there he asked what was going on, then the girl at the front desk said oh yah your therapist called off. REALLY! A phone call would have been nice, or mentioning it when he checked in that their was no therapist. No customer service, asked to speak with the new owner or the manager, and no one will talk to you. Can only send an email that they don't respond to. Unfortunately, we still have 10 prepaid 90-minute massages on the books to use. We are trying to use them but are failing miserably to get and keep appointments. I would stay away from this studio and the Barrington studio as both were bought by the same person. read more

I had the best massage I have ever gotten. i was in a tremendous amount of pain in my left shoulder and neck. I started physical therapy and decided to get a massage in addition to the therapy. I asked Ally for a deep tissue massage focusing on my back and neck. for once, a therapist did exactly as I asked. I sware the massage did more for my pain than the PT. She was absolutely AMZING! The district manager, Rosie, who oversees this location and 3 others is extremely unprofessional and lacks the ability to listen to her customers. I had a poor experience when I came in for a massage and left a confidential detailed review when they sent me a follow up email asking for my feedback. Rosie called me to discuss, IMMEDIATELY disagreeing with my analysis of what had happened during my experience at Elements massage. Apparently my opinion does not matter. She was very rude and my fiancé, listening in on our conversation, said "Wow- I cannot believe she talks to her customers like that." However, I shouldn't be surprised because in fact, at one point during our conversation Rosie herself said, "I only care about my employees." I CAN TELL!!! Thankfully, there are plenty of other massage therapy businesses who will be respectful to their customers. I would never go back to this location or any Elements just because of the lack of professionalism shown by their district manager Rosie. read more

I am beyond disgusted with the treatment my husband and I received from both the Palatine and Bloomongdale locations. We first had a couples massage scheduled in August that we put on the books in May. We arrived early, and went back for the massage. Not even 5 minutes in, my therapist excuses herself. 20 minutes later she hasn't returned and it took me asking my husband's therapist to find out what happened. She got sick and our session was ended. We wanted to reschedule and that was a nightmare. The first date available was 9/4in Bloomingdale. Due to traffic we were running 15 minutes late. Well forget that. We were told that they could only take us for 30 min or reschedule again. After talking to the manager who was rude I called Palatine and talked to Rosie who got us rebooked. My husband called the night on 9/4 just to see if there were any cancellations so that maybe we could still go. He was disconnected and called back only to be told by awful Rosie that our appointment on the 18th was cancelled and that we hung up on them and we're not allowed at their facility. I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior in my life. They are clearly understaffed and having a Groupon made things worse. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Been coming here for a few months- had Adam the first two times, and recently switched to Mike. Both of them have been incredible. I have a labor intensive job and am in physical chronic pain 24 hours a day. I walk out feeling like a million bucks. Most massages I've had in the past I explicitly tell them that I like really intense pressure. All they see is a young woman and ignore my requests and go 'gentle'. Ugh! Mike took my request to heart from day one and delivers incredible, intense, deep pressure every single time. The highlight of my month is my massage day! Always appreciated! - the music during the session was calming - water bottle provided at end of session. Great reminder to hydrate! The cons: - the first 10 minutes of the massage was sans oil which made it really uncomfortable and felt as if the skin on my back was being peeled off my body. Read: too much friction. Ouch. - I didn't like the usage of the fists/knuckles/elbow in the massaging technique. It was uncomfortable and unpleasant. I thought that requesting less pressure would help, but not really. - though I did ask for extra attention on my back, a lot of the focus was on the outer parts of my mid back, which was not pleasant or enjoyable. I got monthly massages from here for over two years while I was going to school for massage therapy myself and beginning my own career. This place hires talented therapists. They're all different and, like in any industry, have different strengths and weakness, so it may take a few tries before finding the right therapist for you, but you'll be in good hands no matter who you see. I used to be a member here and am no longer. I really liked this place at first and the prices are very reasonable, my husband would give me gift cards here for holidays and such. After about 1.5 years of getting at least one massage a month here I started to notice several things I did not like anymore. The turnover rate for their masseuse's is very high. As soon as you tried and found one you liked they would leave after a couple months. I also upgraded to a hot stone massage a few times and they do not have the proper hot stone heaters to do the massage. They only have one actual hot stone heater and then 2 crock pots that they use to give massages. If you did not get the actual hot stone heater half you massage would be the masseuse trying to cool the hot stone before she put it on your back. There were several times that I had to tell the masseuse to take the stones off because they were to hot. I feel like there are better options in massage out there even though I was a member for a while here, I now won't go for a massage here. read more

Don't join their monthly payment program. They make very difficult to stop the payments. They do not have enough masseuses, so scheduling appointments is difficult. I called in and told them to stop my monthly payments. They said they could not do that over the phone. They continued to charge me monthly until I could go in and fill out their form stop the monthly charges. Then they charged me another monthly fee because I did not give them 30 days notice, even though I had called in more than 30 days prior to going in. They remind me of Comcast. My first ever massage---pure heaven. Why have I waited so long???? I went there on a Saturday afternoon and was greeted right away. I made an appointment and they very right on time!! Brittany was wonderful. I asked to concentrate on my back, neck, and shoulders and after 30 minutes I was free of tension. (At least for the day). My mother-in-law and I came here for hot stone massages, and overall it was a good experience. The place is very calming and relaxing, which is always appreciated. It wasn't the best hot stone massage I'd had, but it wasn't the worst. The stones were a bit on the hot side, but my masseuse did regularly ask me if the temperature was OK. My husband and I went here for a couples massage for our anniversary and I had Maggie as my masseuse. She was fantastic! I like my massage to be rough enough to leave bruises, and she gave me what I asked for, haha. The place was clean and relaxing, and the people were friendly. The only kind of weird thing about it- so they give you the massage and give you time to get your clothes back on. When my husband and I were dressed, the girls who did our massages were standing RIGHT there outside the door. We almost hit them over when we opened it. You can get a good massage here, but they are misleading about the time you pay for. If you pay for a "60 minute" massage, expect a 50 minute. If you pay for a "90 minute" massage, expect 75-80 minutes. This won't be explained to you. It's hidden in the FAQ on their website - "A session consists of massage, time for you to dress and undress and time to communicate with the therapist." So basically, rather than just calling it a 50 or 80 minute like most places do, they are misleading in the way they advertise. 4 stars for massage. 2 stars for shady business practices. 3 stars overall. read more

I tried other massage locations and this place is out shines all of them. I have been going to Elements Therapeutic Massage since Groupon had a special offer a couple of years ago. I drive over 45 minutes from the Northern Suburbs to get there. It is well worth the trip every time. Appointments need to be scheduled at least 1-2 days earlier if I want someone special or a best time. They call me back to confirm the appointment since they get booked up. They always run on time. I had Jacqui numerous times the last 6 months as well as some of the other therapists. They actually recommended to try different therapists, which was a great suggestions since they have different technique. I highly recommended them as well as to read the reviews on their website, which are more current. My husband even went recently with me. He had Tatyana and absolutely loved her as well. My daughter has been going monthly as well since the Groupon offer we purchased and she takes over an hour to get to them from Chicago. I let them know what I want them to focus on or if they need to change anything while I am getting the message. They do an amazing job for all of us every time. They appreciate the communication to make it the best experience for me. Sometimes we don't get to go every month. So they have froze it for a couple of months to make it easier for all of us. My wife had a prenatal massage here. When she got home she was so relaxed she felt drunk, a much needed respite from pregnancy aches and pains. She mentioned the interior was very nice, comforting and inviting. Her massage therapist was Julie. Julie was very knowledgable about prenatal messages, was very accommodating and made her feel extremely comfortable. When scheduling the message there was some confusion that at first was irritating but the staff here absolutely bent over backwards to fix the problem. The communication was top notch and I can't say enough good things about them. I can't wait to send my wife here again and would recommend Elements to anyone. Bad News! Had 2 massage cancellations-the SAME day the massage was scheduled-within 2 hours of its time! FINALLY, another massage was scheduled-for the next day- BUT when I arrived the masseuse told me she only did "clothing massages" ??? meaning just that-no "hands on the skin with oils-and said to leave all my clothes on (except shoes) and she would stretch me out. WTF!!! I stated I did not want this and asked to reschedule. When I told Alexis-the girl at the front desk this-she became defensive and rude- stating she told me the prior day that this ("clothes only," or a "Tai massage" was the type I would receive). When I tried to explain that I NEVER would have agreed to this-if I had know about it in advance--she became more argumentstive and accused me of lying. I asked for the manager-who is supposedly Rosie or Hilliary-but they were unavailable. I'll see if they will call me as she promised. She told me to leave and refused to reschedule for another therapist at a different date or time. I have 2 gift cards left that I purchased-pre COVID- and would like to use them OR get my money back. I was lucky if she gave me the time of day! Any time I TRIED to ask a question, she cut me off. She kept asking, would you like to schedule an appointment??? She acted as though my business is not important. Also, before I was even helped, she was very rude to the front desk person, and sitting on her phone the entire time! This people are crooks!!! Be careful and attentive to the receptionist! All my good impression about the massage completely spoiled..They was trying to make money on me! Let me explain you everything.. I had a Groupon for a session of 55 minutes. They didnt do anything extra on me. Only 55 minutes of massage. When I finished, the receptionist asked me to pay an additional $25, citing the fact that my Groupon only covers SOME part but not a full (which is untrue! I read all rules before I bought this deal). Plus, she didn't tell me about any extra money or something on a beginning... Ok! I paid it! When I got home (I live 3 minutes away) and I told this story to my husband, he immediately call them to clarify everything. He introduced himself as an regular customer who has Groupon and asked them if there is anything extra or something.. They said NO! NOTHING EXTRA! YOU PURCHASE YOUR $39 GROUPON AND YOU GET YOUR MASSAGE SESSION. Then he asked why they charge his wife $25 extra for regular Groupon massage?... We both noticed that they got nervous and they could not say anything sensible... We got back in this place (like 10 min later after my massage session) and they returned our money with no question or any words... Unprofessional! Very unpleasant! Low and dirty deed! Got an OK massage here but afterwards they launch into a really hard sell on a monthly membership. I'm fighting it off but then they say they'll make the first month free so finally I sign up. A couple days later, BOOM, my card gets charged. I left a message to cancel the membership and please refund me... I'm done. No refund so I dispute the charge via credit card. For the next several months they keep charging me, I keep writing, keep disputing... Not sure what else to do but go to yelp. PLEASE STOP CHARGING MY CARD!!!! read more

The massage itself was just OK. I specified that I had pulled something in my lower back and my Dr. suggested massage. I asked the masseuse to focus on that area, and then he proceeded to give me a full body and spent equal time on the side of my back that was really hurting and needed it, as he did to the other side, without any extra attention. Just disappointing as that was the reason for the massage in the first place. After the massage, the receptionist told me that the masseuse recommended that I come back in 4 - 6 weeks for "my next appointment" because my lower back was really tight and needed more work. Uh well, no kidding that's why I came in and I actually told YOU guys that. It just felt fake and silly. She asked me twice to book my second appointment.... Then she hit me hard to sign up for their free membership, which is something I was simply not interested in doing. I politely declined, explaining that a massage is a special treat for me and not something I regularly do, but she persisted.....and persisted. An important part of customer service, is understanding when to back off. After a customer politely declines, continuing pressure is only causing me not to want to go back and for taking the time to write this review.
