Massage therapists have been great. The membership process is a scam. I ended up with extra sessions and tried for about 2 years to cancel membership and the process was terrible. Finally, i received a new credit card and believed this would finally stop the monthly charges. I forfeited about 10 sessions and several months later, they figured out a new credit card in " their system and have been charging me for 6 months and they are impossible to get ahold of to get a credit. read more

First impressions when I walked in was wow! This place is clean and spacious with tons of natural sunlight coming in. You definitely smell the light aroma of essential oils when you walk in. The receptionist at the front was friendly and efficient. I checked in online prior with a link they sent me which I let her know. She asked me if I had to use the restroom before my session and then directed me to wait in the "quiet zone" which was in another room. I love that they prioritize everyone's session/experience and make it a thing to be quiet. I paid $44 for a 30 min rapid relief session with Meg since I had a painful left shoulder blade for a few days. This left me kind of confused though, because when I booked my appointment it said it would be $63, also it definitely was not 30 minutes, so maybe that's why? It felt like it was 15-20 minutes, I was really surprised when it ended and she said thank you for coming! But then again I was charged less so maybe that was it. Either way, Meg was super super sweet, careful, and attentive. I'd love to have her again here! I'd easily come here again for a massage or another rapid relief session. It was very peaceful and dim lit in the actual massage room. Everything was clean and everyone was great. I'll most likely be booking another massage here soon! read more

I've had a membership for about 10 years, my late fiance gave it to me as a gift. I tried to go monthly until he became ill a few years later. I kept the membership up after he passed. However, I was unable to use the services due to taking care of him while he was bedridden and then Covid struck and I was afraid to go. I've been using the services sporadically and also giving them as gifts to friends and family. I recently have been having sciatica issues. Nothing was helping. I decided perhaps a massage would help. I booked a 90 minute massage and went yesterday. My first time coming in here. The front staff are very friendly and welcoming. I had Kathy. She was really great! She is really good at her pressure points. I got a 60 min custom massage and I was surprised she added stretching. She also showed me stretches to do for my hips after. My disdain for Massage Envy has only grown during the pandemic so much so that I have cancelled my membership in DC. However, in using my credits before they expire I was so fortunate to get a 90 minute massage from Dominique today at this location. First let me say that the location is lovely, peaceful, and the staff could not be nicer. Dominique was so kind and funny during the massage, and did an excellent job knowing that my neck was bothering me. I felt so much better after the massage. I was so bummed when my favorite go-to therapist at another ME location moved out of state. I contemplated cancelling my membership altogether, but I decided to stick it out and seek a replacement. With that, I am pleased to share I had one of the best massages EVER with Antwoine and still in la la land. I've been a Massage Envy member for a couple years now with some solid experiences, but Antwoine was amazing: skillful, professional, friendly, and intuitive. David is also superb if you enjoy firm-to-deep massages. On another note, I've visited a few different ME locations, and Mt. Prospect is clean with a pleasant ambiance. I appreciate the retracting beds that can move up and down as needed throughout the session and mirrors near the door that come in handy on the way out. The facility is much bigger than it looks from the outside. The only thing that would be nice is to have a hot/water cooler out front for tea. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

My Doctor recommended massage as a possible remedy or help with some minor but recurring and annoying upper back, neck and shoulder tightness with pain. I called this location to ask about appointment availability and because I had a few questions. I also have a ME gift card for one visit. I did not find the person on the phone to be very pleasant or patient. I then called other ME locations who fully answered my questions, found a same-day appointment for me, and assured me I could visit with no further obligation. Stretching and yoga, walking and swimming help me a lot. I will try my one massage today, but it will not become part of my routine. My spouse and I are well aware of another local, highly regarded family-owned masseuse that charges less and offers 30-minute appointments. read more

Maybe. I made an online appointment but it had to be changed by them. I got the impression the online appointments weren't accurate. I asked if the person doing my massage was vaccinated and the girl at the desk said because if HIPPA she couldn't tell me but then asked out loud what I was there for and what parts I wanted worked on. Need to review HIPPA which is for patient's rights. Massage was actually not great. I specifically asked for my lower back and she (not going to name) spent an extraordinary long amount of time on the back of my arms. Never did my back! She tried "explaining" the connection. I will give five stars for the front desk. The young lady was very sweet and professional especially with all this Covid going on. And since I haven't been at a massage envy for probably over 5 years I was given the first appointment discount of $65 instead of $115 which was amazing. My husband was there for his first time as well and he received the $65 for first time. They call us back and now we were scheduled for 60 min massage. My massage was alright. I wish she got in there more but it was fine. What really through me off is that I was dismissed 10 minutes before my hour was up. And I ended up even waiting 10 minutes until my husband came out from his massage. I was really disappointed about that. My husband would give three stars because his person didn't even massage him everywhere. He only focused on a few areas which wasn't ideal. They have us use a tablet prior to being seen to let them know if there's any focus areas and it says they focus everywhere but if there any additional areas to mark down. He marked down his back and neck to get some extra time in those areas but it seemed to be that's all they even focused On. I guess that's what you get when you receive a discounted massage ? If we had to pay $115 I probably would of said something and I never want to complain but I was just bothered by some of these things. Overall the facility was super clean. Everyone was nice. Do not get a membership with massage envy that was my biggest mistake!!! My complaint is that it's such a hassle to cancel!!! They take you money and they refuse to give you a refund. Plus even when they have taken your money and you have a massage available they won't let you use it if you have a freeze on your account. The Manager Brittany was not helpful to me even after i explained they caused my account to be overdrawn. I'm really upset and do not recommend anyone getting a membership from this business!!! Stay away from places with memberships like this it should never be that difficult to cancel. They definitely are keeping at least 2-3 of my massages because I am so angry and I will not be back ever!!! read more

When I have a not so great massage experience, I generally keep it to myself. This is mostly because you are not always going to be a good fit with the therapist you get, which isn't necessarily anyone's fault. However, I was so disappointed with my experience, I felt the need to review this business so others can be ready for what's in store and know this is NOT what massage should be. In a nut shell: -When I made the appointment I told them twice I had to schedule it for 4 or later, as I was working. A few minutes after we booked it, I got a call back saying they needed to move it to 3:30. OK.... so, I hustled like crazy and was able to get there, practically out of breath. -Intake is done in a lobby with an echo. Although I didn't have anything on my health history form I was embarrassed about anyone over hearing, this is totally unprofessional and probably a HIPAA violation. Why aren't these conversations being had in the room with the actual therapist? (The person who went over my intake form, health history and session goals was a front desk person, not a therapist.) -The intake form asks (twice, I believe) about some specific areas and whether or not you want them worked. I checked off glutes and pecs here. I confirmed this verbally as well. Both of these areas were completely avoided during my massage. Not even a few compressions, in a two hour time period! -My therapist was brand new (just out of school). When I called to schedule, I explained I had specific areas of concern and needed deep tissue. I was not there for a basic relation massage, which is usually what students right out of school are best at. Which brings me to... -I didn't get the deep pressure I asked for. I am not looking for pain, just pain relief. The therapist wasn't going deep enough to get beyond the superficial layer of muscles, except for the few times I asked her to increase the pressure. Each time I did, she REALLY dug in for about 20 seconds, and then resumed a light, Swedish massage. I finally gave up asking for more pressure. -One of my two areas of concern was my neck. She completely skipped my neck and half of my upper back, so when she covered me back up to move on, I asked if she would instead work these areas when she flipped me over. Her reply? "If you want me to." Wow. She did go back at that point though, and worked some of what she had missed, but complained the "wall was in her way". Is this why it was skipped? Does everyone lose out on a quarter of their back because of the "wall being in the way"? -I asked for medium pressure on my legs, two or three times. She used more pressure on my legs than any other area and my hamstrings were cramping the next day because of it. After she finished my first leg, she took her hands away and said, "Um... did you want me to do your feet?". YES. This is a FULL BODY MASSAGE. If you're grossed out by touching feet, don't work as a massage therapist. -What I am most upset about, before the massage, the therapist confirmed the time we were starting and what time we would stop. When it was over, it was 11 minutes earlier than she had told me and form what I had expected. When I checked out, I gave her the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe she gave me the wrong time and I had gotten my full session after all. Nope. She cut over TEN MINUTES off my massage. The front desk person said, "Oh, sorry! I'll mention it to her." -After the massage when they give you water, they are supposed to discuss what they felt and give you recommendations. Her only recommendation for me was to come back and see another therapist. (Literally... I'm not making this up.) No thanks, I'll spend my money elsewhere. I would like to say, the therapist I worked with was very sweet and clearly nervous (the only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1). They should not be giving 2 hour deep tissue sessions to inexperienced therapists in the first place. I knew from the start (when she told me she "didn't know anything about arthritis") that I probably wouldn't be getting the best massage of my life. However, this does not excuse most of what "went wrong", especially the cutting over 10 minutes off my time! After several days I'm still annoyed with how badly this went. Most places will call or e-mail a follow up to see how your massage was, and how you're feeling the next day. Since this ME had neither of those and I didn't hear from anyone despite letting the front desk know I didn't get what I had paid for, I decided to just leave a review on here. So, so disappointed. What a crock. I have been a member for years. Half of the time they don't have a great massage therapist. But you do find them and when you do you book your appointments well in advance. Well, I did that but she was sick for my last scheduled visit so they cancelled it. But luckily I had another one booked. Or so I thought. They didn't lock it in even though I booked it about 45 days ago at the front counter. To make things worse, they keep offering me some random dude they probably picked off the streets. Truth is, I have never had a massage from a male massage therapist and THEY KNOW THIS. Stop offering me up the person nobody wants. Because of the lack of good therapists I have 13 hours of time paid for in monthly dues.
