We wasted our time waiting here for 30 minutes only for them to tell us it would be another hour. They blamed it on the Yelp reservation system but the hostess didn't communicate the correct information to begin with. We also had a toddler that we need to feed, so their bad customer service was a big inconvenience. Have had issues with this place a couple of times and will never try to come here again. I was greeted by Said who was the consummate host. He answered all my questions about the different bears and brought beers and what's on draft what's on bottles and handed me a copy of the menu for the food served at the bar. I totally appreciate the way he made me feel welcome. Though they didn't have beers that I am familiar with or are my personal favorites, he did introduce me to some wonderful options. One bar couldn't have all beers so I wasn't disappointed. This bar has so many different beers, it's wonderful. I hope next time I'm there that I have the Awesome items on their menu. My favorite was the Half Acre Daisy Cutter. A nice light beer with a beautiful Amber color good flavor not bitter, not hoppy. It was delish so much so that I had a second pint and they poured 16 oz pints. If you get a chance you have to look at their menu for the dining area. Typical Irish pub fair that is so beautifully delicious looking. I have to get back there and try some. I've hyped up the beer now I need to go over and taste the food. read more

I'm probably bumping this up to four stars because I felt like our server was so good and friendly (and I regret not getting his name to mention it here). A lot of the nearby places were busy so we popped into Elephant & Castle hoping to get a quick dinner. I appreciated that they have a good pub menu and this is probably a great place to hang out and eat appetizers. The pretzels we got were really good. The sausage rolls were also a favorite - very flavorful and a perfect ratio of meat to crust. We also had the citrus chicken salad which was kinda like a mediocre Chinese chicken salad - it was fine but nothing outstanding. I was glad we could get the variety of the four pies tho we only really liked the leek & potato and the chicken pot pie ones. The shepherd's pie was kind of bland - sad because this is such a classic. I'm not sure if the regular sized pies would taste better. The wings were fine. We also got an order of the butter chicken flatbread which had a good taste in the sauce on it - but it ended up being way too saucy and made the crust soggy. So I felt overall the menu was hit and miss - some standouts and some bland stuff. I still feel like I'd go again because the service was great and I did enjoy some of the items! read more

Waiting 10 minutes for waitress to even come to our table but it was the hostess again and she was clueless about the menu Waitress finally arrives. Takes our order. Doesn't write anything down. Got my meal. Was missing the sides. Missing syrup. Took her another 8 minutes to come back by. Advised her of what was missing. She shows back uo another 7 minutes later. Has one side. Still missing the other side. And still no syrup. Went up to the front to pay my bill with the hostess. Hostess asks waitress for check and she says he can wait. The fish and chips were great as usual, with agreement from my friend from Ireland (not Irish-American, he moved here from Ireland a few years ago). Lively atmosphere + exceptional service. However, 1 star because the Cajun Caesar Wrap that I consumed infected me with ferocious food poisoning. When I'm downtown Chicago, this is one of the spots I know I can bring someone, even picky eaters. The menu has a whole host of items. Fun fact from our waitress. This is a Canadian company and yet the menu screams London! Overall there is a large menu that offers vicarious options. This time around we ventured out a bit and tried the slum dog and it was delicious according to my friend. A fun way to bring the Chicago dog into the menu. The waitress was friendly and helpful offering suggestions. The space is darker like a pub. During the summer months, they offer outside seating. I am SO disappointed with our experience from tonight! This was our second time visiting this location, and we were treated so poorly! Our drinks were incorrectly charged, and rather than helping us out the manager decided to give us straight up sass! We were confused when a house wine and cocktail came out to $40 (this was not the pricing shown on the menu). When we inquired about it, the bartender admitted the charge was incorrect, but said they would have to charge us the correct amount, THEN void the original charge LATER? $60 ish dollars for two drinks?! When we asked to speak to the manager, we were sassed. I felt like we were being judged the entire rest of the evening. We just didn't want to be incorrectly charged! We weren't expecting anything from it other than the correct bill! I don't know why there had to be a delay? I've worked in the restaurant industry before. When there is an issue, the manager voids the incorrect check right away. I'm not sure why they were refusing to correct this. Otherwise, the food was fine. I won't bother describing the manager. I didn't get her name but she was incredibly rude. read more

My favorite casual bar to go to when I want to have a good time and not splurge too much. The service is fast and efficient. The ambience makes you feel like you are in an old British pub, which is fun! Some of my favorites are the pretzel bites, leek and potato pie, Mediterranean flatbread, and roasted tomatoes and whipped feta. I would steer away from the butter chicken because the chicken was a little tough. They have a great beer collection too! read more

Wonderful restaurant and pub in the Theater District. Very cool mix of British and Indian fare. We passed by the restaurant back in August, and I thought I'd really like to try this spot on one of our next visits. It was crowded, but we got a great table right away. This is a beautiful restaurant, and service was very good. I started off with a really good Chicago microbrew, Daisycutter. We shared an order of poutine, and it was gone in minutes. Couldn't even snap a picture. I had a brilliant presentation of Bangers and Mash. It was awesome! My son had fish and chips. It was inhaled. My daughter had the buttery chicken. I can attest to the goodness because I finished it for her, and it was very good. This is definitely a place that I'd like to visit again on one of our future trips to Chicago. read more

Erin is by far the rudest and most unprofessional manager I've ever encountered. She talked down to us, ignored our concerns, and acted like she couldn't care less whether we stayed or left. Her behavior was insulting and completely unacceptable. If this restaurant thinks Erin represents good management, they clearly don't care about their customers either. read more

I love going to this restaurant on weekends for their Sunday Roast dinner. Every waiter has been pleasant and gave great service.

After a tour we were looking for a place to have a drink and some appetizers. We found this pub and decided to try it out. The decor is pretty cool with different pictures of artists and characters. The music playing took me back to the 80s. Pimms cup is one of my favorite drinks, and this place makes a really good Pimms cup. We ordered the traditional poutine to share. My boyfriend had never had it. He loved it so much that we ordered a second one. If you're looking for a place to get out of the cold, have a drink, and some good poutine, then try this place out. read more

We came here after Lollapalooza one night and it was incredible. Fast and friendly service. The food was amazing and we didn't wait at all for it. The experience was better than I anticipated. Half my salad kept falling onto the bar top. I also ordered the chicken fingers. The size was honestly a joke. They were basically chicken nuggets. The fries and chicken fingers were pretty room temp also. I want HOT food. Especially when it isn't that busy. I'm pretty disappointed and probably won't come back. This is a great place the beer is good they have different kinds. This is your pub bar. We loved it cause it reminded us of Landon when we were there the atmosphere of the restaurant was just awesome. Now it is a popular pub so service is great. If you go on a busy day be patient with the bar staff. This place is popular especially when a game is going on. Now I had the chicken pot pie which was ok. I felt like it could have better flavor to it. My friend had the shepherds pie but that pie was super greasy a lot of oil my fiend could not even finish it he said the flavor was not bad it was just a lot of grease. Overall this is a fun place for beer and good time with friends the food is your normal pub food don't go expecting more than that. I would go back and visit cause I love the atmosphere. Great place to see your British League soccer, or in my case, some college football. Decent beer selection although the tappers were down the last time in and their bottle selection was just kind of blah. Or it would have had star #5. I like this place. I'm a Irish pub fan and so is my wife. This isn't that, but it seems like a cousin. I had a Guiness and our friends each had mixed drinks that were enjoyed. If you like shepherd's pie, or chicken pot pie, or any kind of savory pie, they have a flight of pies. Wee pies. It is a Wee pie flight. I just wanted to actually type that out, but you can also find it on the menu. They are only about an inch and a half across and a half inch deep but they are all tasty. And they have full size savory pies if you are a fan of committing to one entre for your meal. My wife got the fish and chips which was outstanding. the fries weren't my favorite, but the fish itself was perfect. We also got pretzel bites with beer cheese, sausage rolls, and crisps with dips. The beer cheese was some of the best I have had and the pretzel pieces were ideal. I like the sausage roll, a "banger" in a little piece of dough. The "crisps" were correctly cooked homemade potato chips. By that I mean they were crispy and not burned and warm when they came to the table. The dips they came with are cravable. And I now know that I like curried ketchup. I am not a big ketchup fan, but this is the way I want to have it from now on. The dill dip and the third one which escapes me were also very good. As a foodie and Anglophile, I was thrilled when hubby and I found this place. We only had one day in the city so we definitely wanted to make the most of it and this was the perfect ending. There were soooo many things on the menu that I wanted to try, I must have changed my mind 20 times. I finally decided on the Steak & Mushroom Pie with a side of poutine and hubby got the Sunday dinner (because I wanted it - it came with Yorkshire Pudding y'all!!!). We shared probably the BEST bread pudding that I have ever had. The SMP was excellent, the puff pastry topping was incredibly delicate and flaky. The poutine was outstanding, the fries were well flavored and not soggy, just the right amount of gravy and cheese. The roast beef (Sunday Dinner) was tender and perfectly roasted and seasoned. Did I mention the Yorkshire Pudding? Yum! So light and airy! So delicious! The bread pudding, holy smokes, sweet, perfect density, not soggy...just a big hunk of deliciousness. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely looks like a British pub. Absolutely loved the artwork and attention to detail. Go there. Fly to Chicago just for the bread pudding. read more
