This place is AMAZING. Friends and I were visiting Seattle, and "late night eatery near us" brought us to this sub terrain spot. We ordered the Crispy chicken sliders, Wipped feta with roasted tomato, Peri peri chicken, Pretzel bites, and Mini sausage rolls. Avery was our server and did NOT steer us wrong with all the questions we asked while deciding, and took good care of us when we decided we had ordered way too much :) The chicken sliders have amazing bread and the dill sauce is fantastic. The whipped fetta is a singularly amazing experience...if you love bruschetta, you would sell your own kidney for this. The sausage rolls are chunks of bangers wrapped in a puff pastry that the staff hope to have leftover at the end of the kitchen time, they're so good. The chicken Peri peri is spicy, tangy, and the sauce cools it back enough to dive right back in. THE PRETZEL BITES. Hooooly crud, these are THE BEST BRETZELS we have ever had. They are sort of buttery crisp on the outside and melt in your mouth insides! The cheese dip is mustard-y tart, and frigging perfect! Anyway. Go here, you'll not regret it EVER. read more

TLDR: Terrible, very long wait for food. When we had enough, we started to leave without getting our order, the server came with our food and appetizer. We came in an hour before show time, even with a reservation they scrambled to find us a table. We decided what we wanted before arriving so one of us can order while the other parks the car. Food was ordered with an appetizer, drinks came then we waited and waited. No food no appetizer came. No attention from the waitstaff either, I flagged down a random staff member and said, "we're leaving, please get us the check." Within 30 seconds the food comes with appetizer. Firstly, we ordered chips with dipping sauces. What "English Pub" serves actual potato chips when someone orders "chips"?? Second, I spotted an issue with one of the dishes and asked about it. "Sorry, I think this was supposed to be gluten free". The server corrected me and "said no one asked for gluten free". Really, you're going on the defensive? It's a very noisy space and you're not even going to consider that you didn't hear the order?? Third, we did ask for no blue cheese in the salad and that was missed. The salad tasted like mold. The service here has been terrible both times I've been but the last time just took the cake. The food is only so-so and most certainly does not make up for the service. Both times, my order was wrong - even though I ordered straight menu items. The last time? Four other people at my table had incorrect orders that ordered straight menu items. The server was snippy and rude when we mentioned that we had incorrect orders - even though we waited until the orders had all been brought to the table and he asked if everything looked okay. When he came back with the "corrected" items (additions and subtractions made to existing plates so that all the food was cold when it returned) he mentioned "Well *I* ordered it correctly, the kitchen just messed it up!" At the end of the meal, my check was incorrect and I pointed it out (a difference of $13 is a big difference to me). The server actually started to argue with me about it until he realized "OH, you are right. I guess I'll fix it." When he fixed it, he added an 18% gratuity that was not previously there. The next day, when I checked my credit card records, he had also tacked on a $5 tip - not a hold, after it cleared it was still there. When I called the restaurant to ask about this addition, they said it was a busy day the day I was in and would take some time to research. I don't think I'll be returning. read more

Super delicious! I came here and got the blue cheese burger. Super yummy! Lunch entree comes with a side of either soup or salad. I chose the daily special soup and it was tasty. This place is spacious and has plenty of outdoor and indoor seatings. The waiters were nice but they were also super busy. They have a good selection of burgers, salads, and soup. Price can be a little expensive. I think the average entree costs around $10 - $15. I did enjoy the food a lot though! read more

Had a great experience here the other night! We had just stopped in the bar for a quick drink and bite before we headed out. Our bartender was a guy name Mike! I travel to Seattle for PAX West every year and one of the highlights is being able to gather with friends and bond at "after parties". This bar has been a regular hang out spot for years, but this year (2018) was a horrible experience. From an understaffed bar staff, to a clearly flustered and completely off the rails hostess, my experiences there this year over 3 separate nights got progressively worse. The last interaction I had there consisted of my wife and I walking up to their door and being screeched at by their hostess that they weren't serving any alcohol and I was to get out. Never have I been treated like this, let alone repeatedly, by an establishment that should know better. If you enjoy manners, professionalism, or even competence in your dining experience, avoid this place. There's too many quality establishments in Seattle to ever waste your time on these people. read more

We are here visiting from Rhode Island. Came in last night to watch Monday Night Football, we choose seats at the bar and ordered food and drinks. The bartender then chose to change the television channel. When we complained, he advised us that the woman seated near us had requested it and that we would have to come to an agreement with her. When she began to argue with us and the bartender did nothing, we asked for our check and left. Very disappointed that the bartender did nothing to keep us there. read more

We have ordered delivery from here a few times and as long as you order the right thing it's fantastic. I don't think their British dishes are as good as I would have hoped, but the burgers, pretzels and the onion rings are delicious. I would love to go there in person and try the food right out of the oven - I'm sure it's fantastic, so after the pandemic, we'll be there! read more

Nic is the absolute most incredible bartender ever, made us feel comfortable and welcome here. He is attentive and patient and gives great suggestions when we don't know what exactly we want. My husband and I came here while we were waiting for a friend to get out of work. We were walking by and decided to pop in for a beer. To me to seems like its an after work place where I felt almost out of place in jeans. It was pretty dimly lit and seemed like a nicer place, definitely not a hole in the wall type place. The beer was cold and bartender was nice. We didn't order any food. The only reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because of what I witnessed another waiter doing. While sitting at the bar I looked over and there were a group of women sitting at a large table. It looked like a sort of celebration, As I was watching I saw one of the gals talking to the waiter about the menu and noticed a little back and forth, when the waiter left he came right behind us and up to the computer near the bar. He rolled his eyes as far back in his head as he could and said " this is F****** bullshit" and started complaining to another employee. I know if that were my waiter I would either not tip him or go elsewhere as it appeared he had a big attitude. Are all the employees like that behind the customers back? Not sure but it doesn't make me want to go back there anytime soon. read more

Very rainy day and staying at the Hyatt Motif so decided to walk around Seattle. On the way back I walked into this British Pub. Wasn't very busy, but with the weather I understand. Ordered a beer at a table by the bar. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. Good place to stop for a quick drink. read more

After a tiring day at work, with no energy left to explore, we just wanted to finish off dinner somewhere near our hotel. On a short stroll we found Elephant and Castle & found it interesting, so we walked in. After a quick wait browsing through the menu, we decided our drinks & mains & swiftly placed our orders. The drink options, almost 60 draughts were extensive, & our drink orders arrived pretty soon. However that was not the case with our mains, it took a really long time for it to arrive. From my observation where there were a lot of people with a badge / tag, maybe they got an extra group of conference people, the restaurant was overflowing & so many orders were being delivered to large groups. This place is an English Pub | Restaurant, so obviously they had all the popular items, be in Pot Pie, Fish N Chips, & off course the humble Butter Chicken. Though it's against my vow to eat any form of Indian food when am outside Indian borders, so I stayed clear off it. However the butter chicken might be their most popular dish, almost all the tables around us were ordering it & the aroma was too good, am sure it must have tasted as good as well. I had ordered a lamb burger which I loved, a great patty to bun portion size with yummy veggies, nice crunch to meat ratio. Loved the beautifully seasoned patty which was absolutely perfect. However I was not a big fan of the bun, maybe that's something these guys can improve, decent fries to accompany, no complaints there. But now I know where to get decent British food here in Seattle and am definitely coming back for the fish & Chips, also for the butter chicken if I ever miss Indian food. read more

location was perfect and looked attractive from the street. once daughter and I got in, not so impressed. pub that smelled mildewy (maybe used old towels to wipe down tables). yuck. our table had crud on it. yuck. waitress was nice and attentive. daughter had the potpie flight and bread pudding. pot pies cute and tasted good. beware, they are small if you are big eater. she loved the bread pudding, super soft so be aware If you like crustier....and maybe needs cinnamon. I first came here years and years ago, during our first visit to Seattle to look at apartments. The experience was good but unremarkable since I didn't come back until recently. A friend sent me a picture of the poutine section of their menu and said, "Have you had the poutine here?" Well, I hadn't - so a long overdue second visit was in order! We were there at lunch time on a Tuesday, so the place was pretty empty other than some invested soccer fans. We picked a seat by the window and were immediately attended to by a very nice server. He didn't bat an eye at all when we only ordered iced tea instead of alcohol and 2 orders of poutine. Our food came out quickly and was great! The fries were so crispy and chewy on the inside. The gravy was good, not too heavy! The cheese curds were a bit on the skimpy side - they were cut quite small and I would have liked a few more - but everything was still quite delicious. It's nice to have a new place for poutine in the city, since my last experience at Smith wasn't great and Pike Place Brewery's poutine is just okay at best. We'll be back! read more

Staying at the Red Lion on Fifth Avenue and the hotel restaurant menu had nothing that even remotely interested me, but the Elephant and Castle was just below the hotel and looked rather intriguing. (I secretly, well not so secretly now, want to own a British pub or be the person who names British pubs, because I have some good ones in mind). The menu had a good mix of traditional British pub faire and more typical American food so we decided to give it a try. We both opted for items off the of pub faire...fish and chips and bangers and mash. The bangers were excellent, but the mash tasted like they were perhaps a mix of instant and real potatoes, which kind of surprised me as the chips tasted like they were hand cut. As we were celebrating a birthday, we decided to go all out and have dessert as well and both opted for the Big Ben Brownie...Big is an understatement. I think we could have ordered one between us and still had some left over...good news is we now have a midnight snack on hand. The place was busy on a Sunday evening after a home game for the Seahawks, but the wait staff was all very attentive and apologetic about being stopped along the way to our table, even though there was no need for such an apology. While I probably wouldn't walk more than probably five or six blocks to eat here, down the stairs in the lobby was just fine and if I was in the area again, I would likely go back. read more

We sat outside, food and service were great. The second time I met a group from another company at the end of the show. We were drinking in doors at the bar. It was SUPER hot (I'm not sure if the A/C was even on at the bar. If it was, it definitely didn't cool the place off). It's under the hotel, so that may have something to do with it. It was a warm and sunny evening in beautiful downtown Seattle, the perfect night for people watching and dining al fresco. My friend and I decided to eat dinner here -- I'd walked by a hundred times but never stopped. I'm so glad we decided on this place. Service was great and food rocked -- the atmosphere was stellar. Here are the reasons for my stellar review. We were greeted very warmly and sat promptly -- we dined outside because the evening begged for it. Our drink orders were quickly taken - water for both myself and my friend. We had a tough time deciding what to order because of the extensive menu. I was tempted to try the bangers and mash, but opted instead for the French Dip. I am a huge lover of the Dip, but this is dip done to perfection -- perfect slices of roast beef, very vibrant horseradish aioli and Swiss cheese that balanced out everything. Oh yes, and wonderful sautéed mushrooms. But, we must talk about the au jus -- a bit thicker than what I normally eat, but that was totally cool because the flavor was out of this world. I don't know what they put in it, but the spices were dee to the lish. Oh yes, and the fries were amazeballs, too -- love the seasoning. My friend ordered the chicken salad, which looked heavenly. Gorgeous grilled chicken, pieces of mandarin orange and cashews all looked like divine ness on a plate!! Since it was my birthday, we got a free dessert, which was a brownie sundae that was huge and amazing -- ice cream, whipped cream and caramel between two chocolate brownies drizzled with fudge and sprinkled with powdered sugar!! OHH YEAH!! All in all it was an amazing meal, service was great and the atmosphere was perfect. I'll definitely be back -- you should try it, too!! read more

Finally got a chance to come here after working across the street for many months. I was a bit surprised at the decor and lack of warmth when I first walked it. I pictured it being a bit darker with less poppy music to give me a british pub vibe. The walls were bright and tables were actually spread out. Not very many people near eachother. It's not a bad thing, just an odd observation from an odd person. The menu, while my brain screamed "get poutine you wannabe Canadian!", made it very difficult to choose. There were many dishes I wanted to try, but I didn't want to be disappointed. So I played it safe and got the deluxe burger I think its called. Had guiness BBQ sauce and chipotle aioli. I hat chipotle but got it anyway and I actually couldn't taste it at all so I was happy. Real decent burger. Reminded me of the Whiskey River burger at Red Robin which I love. Fries were good too! Hard to stop eating. All around, it was tasty. Good vibes with friends. Music had a bit too much Miley and Taylor Swift, which I guess is for the very young wait staff, but if turned down a bit it would be more tolerable. I'm being very picky here, I'm aware. Doesn't matter, I'd go back tomorrow if I could. Last thought, Butter Chicken Poutine sounds SO gross! But it could be one of those gross sounding ideas that actually works very well. Don't come here for the food. I'm sure it makes for a great time watching a game or having drinks, but I do not recommend the food whatsoever. Our table received varying degrees of over-cooked and under-cooked flavorless meals. The fish and chips were fried too quickly, leaving the inside close to raw. The burger patty's are thin and easily overdone. The salmon plates were way overdone and dry. We let the server know, but weren't going to stick around for another hour while things were remade. I will say the staff and service were welcoming and kind. We just won't be back when we're hungry. read more

Very convenient location, especially since we were staying in The Motif. Elephant & Castle is right below. There's an elevator that goes to parking & Elephant & Castle. Super easy even with a baby in a stroller. I loved that it has indoor & outdoor patio seating in nice weather. There are several tv's & a pool table but it wasn't loud like a typical bar. There are different sections so you can sit away from the bar or entrance. The food is pub fare & everything I had was great. The wedge salad IS SO GOOD! I don't normally care for salad much but it's super fresh & crunchy. I don't think they serve dessert & the brunch menu seemed very small. I also stay away from fried foods & like most happy hours almost everything was fried or oil based. It would be nice to have some slightly healthier options, especially since the wedge salad is so fantastic! read more

Met a friend here for HH, and the prices for import beer (Guinness, Boddington, Newcastle, etc) were cheaper than most of Seattle at HH. Half price appetizers were also great. The beer garden outside is nice but it gets a lot if foot traffic so it's not as great as it's made out to be. I think sitting in the back of the bar or in one of the sunken lower booths will do just fine, with almost all of the best European beets to keep you going. Why 4 instead of 5: you have Guinness (thumbs up) and you have Bass (threw up in the back of my mouth), but no Harp. How will I get a half and half with no Harp? Bad form sir. read more

Nice small pub in downtown Seattle. Went to grab lunch with a friend here and we were seated in a quiet area which was nice. I ordered the cajun caesar wrap with mash potatoes. It was so delicious and very filling. The mash potatoes were paired with a beef gravy which was a nice pairing. My friend got the jalapeño mac and cheese and she said it was too creamy for her taste. read more
