We have been wanting try Elephant for a while. We finally had time to go sit down for lunch! The restaurant itself is adorable. So colorful and inviting. Our service was great. Water constantly refilled. The food was like a flavor bomb in your mouth. We ordered the Saag with spice level of 3. We could have went higher but boy was it yummy. The Tandoori Chicken (Bone-in), heat level 3 was perfect. And then we tried one of the Indo-Chinese dishes, Mixed Fried Rice. It was light and full of fresh vegetables and pieces of Chicken and Shrimp. We all very much enjoyed Elephant and will be returning soon. read more

This is a new spot that opened up on Beckley where swank used to be. They have another location but the vibe here is classier. I finally made it in Star hearing nothing but rave reviews from my friends. I have been to their other location. I came in for lunch around 2:30 pm on Monday afternoon so as you can imagine i had the place to myself until 1 other family came in. As i walked in i was struck by the beautiful decor. It really is stunning. The patio, the ceilings, dining room, all of it. I ended up ordering super basic but it was delicious. I got a mango lassi, mild butter chicken and garlic naan. The butter chicken sauce was silky, smooth, velvety, perfection. The chicken was tender and delicious. I wish there was a bit more chicken in the sauce but it was all delicious. The garlic naan was melt in your mouth delicious. Highly recommend. Mango lassi was pretty standard but also delicious. Had a cute design on top im guessing made with pomegranate molasses. Cant wait to come back here and try more things in the menu.... Or just eat a lot of butter chicken and garlic naan. My server was friendly and helpful as well. read more

I was looking for a restaurant in Dallas for family visiting from out of town, and we wanted India so I ended up picking Elephant Indian Bar n Grill. I called ahead to make a reservation since we were celebrating my sister's birthday. They told me it wasn't necessary but went ahead and made one anyway. When we arrived, there wasn't a table ready for us. It's a small place and fills up quickly, so it got packed fast. They also don't offer complimentary papadums with chutney, which I'm used to at most Indian restaurants. We ordered two paneer butter masalas with different spice levels, along with butter naan and garlic naan. The garlic naan never came, and they later told us it hadn't been rung up. The paneer butter masala was good, but the amount of paneer was less compared to how much sauce there was. We also ordered gulab jamun, but they didn't acknowledge my sister's birthday or add a candle or anything. Overall, the food was good and it's a nice little spot, read more

Happy Born day Mom! Such a cute cozy little place and also a bit sexy! I wish I could do half stars (3.5), as I took one star away for just ok service. Our server was nice just not that helpful. The food.. I definitely will be back! My mother's lamb chops she said were VERY salty. She is west indian so she loves the spice, she asked for the hottest they can make it, so maybe it was the spice? She loved the Chicken manchow soup. It's a rainy day, whats better than to order in but some yummy Indian food. Let's just say this place did not disappoint. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Grilled Chicken with Fresh Green Hariali , medium spice with some Traditional as well as garlic Naan. We also ordered the Chicken biryani mild flavor and it's was perfectly spiced for me. The portions are Perfect, I'm looking forward to frying up an egg with the left over rice tomorrow morning. read more

Horrible experience and food. Let me explain: Reservations at 6:30 tonight. Our waiter didn't come over to greet us until 6:45 or after. Which was fine, as we were excited to be there and busy perusing the menu after a glowing article in the 'Advocate'. Drinks (two teas and one can beer - who doesn't have Michelob Ultra on tap these days or at least in a bottle?) brought out a few minutes later. Then nothing. Time warp to 7:30 when we flagged someone down and asked about our food as we were all starving at that point. Our waiter said that there was a large party in the other part of the dining room, there were only two people in the kitchen this evening, and that our ticket had been lost and never received in the kitchen!!!!!! Time jump to 7:40 when food starts arriving. We ordered one app and three entrees to share. At least now timing is back on track even though each food item was brought out separately until the lamb shank appeared and we carve into it in order share. Completely frozen in the center! For all of our time and effort trying to support this newish business in Oak Cliff our waiter brought out three doughnut hole looking things in some sort of sauce as an apology. They tasted nasty. And absolutely no visit to our table from a manager to try and make things right. The edible food that we did receive was NOT that good. I don't recommend this place at all. It's cutish inside, but apparently nobody is managing this place. I predict this place won't last very long at this location. We all considered going next door to Papa John's for a second dinner OR driving out to Irving to a delicious Indian restaurant after this horrible experience. Very disappointed, but we of course wish them well and hope that they can improve. read more

The food here is so yummy. The menu has everything and then some. The service was impeccable. The restaurant is so cute and chill. Great bar to grab a drink. When I walked in, the ambiance was so nice and calm. It's a very small restaurant and there was a band playing outside. My friends and I decided to sit outside because the inside seemed a little too close for comfort seating wise. When we sat down, the server did take a while to get to us. When he did, the first question he asked us is if we were ready. By ready, he did not mean drinks. He meant ready to order everything. Then as we were ordering, he seemed to be in a rush. The server was not very attentive the entire time we were there. I ordered the butter chicken (boneless) with butter naan and a mango lassi. Both the butter chicken and the butter naan were absolutely delicious. The mango lassi was decent. It had a sour flavor and I prefer it to be on the sweeter side. Moved to Oak Cliff from Old East and was looking for a local Indian spot. From top to bottom, I can't say enough positive things about this location. From the chill vibes on the wrap around patio to the elegant-casual dining inside. Full bar with spirits, unique dishes that you can tell have been prepared with care. I'm not a spicy dish guy but I tried the Gobi 65 spiced up to a three. I immediately loved the texture and crunch of the cauliflower, onions and peppers. But it was the yogurt base that gave this vegetarian meal a full feeling. The spice was daunting at first but I took it slow and made my way through. Probably the best Indian dish I've tired. Finally, the service was without a doubt one of the best I've had experience in this type of setting. It doesn't take a lot for me to feel taken care of, especially because I'm in F&B and I know it's very taxing work, but the gentleman who served me this afternoon (11/5) made it look like an steady rhythmic involuntary muscle. Located in the old Beckley1115/Swank house, there's vibey indoor and outdoor seating. There's a small parking lot that is shared with Beatrice. Food is good, service was kind. The atmosphere is joyful, elegant and beautiful. The service is exceptional with very kind hosts. We initially ordered to-go and all dishes were delicious. This week we went in person to try a variety of additional dishes. All the food is amazing. I had the special with shrimp and lobster in a coconut base and it was my favorite so far. Don't listen to Sean S. Anyone who gives one star because there was a wait on a weekend is clearly a Diva Diner. I've been several times and the food has always been amazing as well as the service. Oak Cliff is lucky to count an Indian restaurant in the heart of OC among its variety of food options. Its location is also great because you don't have to deal with the hot mess of traffic (both vehicle and pedestrian) in Bishop Arts. The ambiance and decor are well designed and there's a huge outdoor space with uber-comfy lounge furniture perfect for lunch or dinner. If I had to say something negative it's that I like a little less cinnamon in my chicken biryani which they were happy to accommodate when I requested so on my following visit. read more

I had chicken tikka masala, Chana masala, and aloo gobi with garlic naan last night. The flavors were insanely good and delivered a punch in the mouth only Indian food can provide. We sat outside on the gorgeous patio while we ate and drank wine. Rice cooked to perfection. Service was incredibly prompt and efficient. I left wanting to eat more! I took leftovers and chopped up chicken for lunch today and the flavors were even better. We ordered a number 4 spice level, which I thought was the perfect balance of heat and flavor. Ate here last night; got it to go. Placed the order via a phone call, and it was a quick and easy transaction. When I arrived, I was relieved to have easy parking (large shared lot directly beside the restaurant). I was delighted by the sound of live music in the air and surprised to see it was coming from their front patio, which was well-lit and beautifully decorated. (Apparently, they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays, so I'll definitely be back to enjoy as the temperature cools!) Indoors, the aroma was outstanding- mouthwatering so, while the atmosphere was beautiful, clean and welcoming. I was greeted warmly and my food was almost immediately ready to go! The food was hot, fresh and fantastic! I had the curry with chicken and veggies, mildly spiced. (It truly was mild, for heat sensitive people.) The taste was full-bodied and exactly what I wanted. I was served a heaping amount of robustly (but simply) flavored basmati rice, which was SO good, I finished off the rice all by itself for lunch today! (I never eat just plain rice... but I surely did with this!) I also ordered a side of hummus, which was tasty! It's on the thinner side (as oppose to thick) if that matters to you. I like hummus *any* way it comes, so I was happy with it. I genuinely appreciated the friendly service, the satisfying food and I'm thrilled to have a great Indian spot in Oak Cliff!
