I only made a yelp account so I could capitalize on the check-in offers. However, my experience at Elevate warrants my first review. First, their response time was exceptional. I was having an issue making an online appointment, but through yelp messaging, Daniel helped me book an appointment with Jose "Biggie" Rodas. I've been trying to find my go to barber for the longest time. I was mainly towards the east since I live out there. However, I was never satisfied with my experience. At the places I've been to, the cut was never exactly what I wanted, the vibe wasn't really friendly, and the barbers displayed favoritism. Biggie and the other guys at Elevate exemplified a positive, friendly attitude that made me feel welcomed. I showed Biggie what I wanted and he gave me some suggestions, and after the cut, he was real with me. He told me my hair is still in the growing phase, so it won't be exactly like what I wanted just yet (pompadour/combover). This 5* review is for Biggie. When I came into the Elevate Barbershop I had a messed up haircut from a cheap barber. I told Biggie that I wasn't sure if it could be fixed I might have to shave my head and go bald. So he spent about an hour working my hair and beard till it was looking real fly. Now I make weekly visits he's the only person I trust with my hair and my beard. I recommend him to anyone who is looking for a barber who carries himself professionally and takes the utmost pride in his craft. Looks like I found my new barbershop! I've been going to the same place for 12 years and love my barber BUT it's really far and the wait drives me crazy sometimes. Elevate offers amazing barbers, an extremely convenient online booking system, and is a way more modern and inviting environment. I came in once and was sold - thats all it took. I went this past Saturday and Biggie cut me. I got a good compliment about it when I visited my uncle later that day. I just had Biggie even me out and give me a lineup - nothing fancy. But, he also cut a kid who was in the chair right before me and it looked great! The kid was smiling all the way out the door with his parents who seemed really pleased. I definitely recommend this establishment. The barbers let their personalities show through in conversation, too. For me, that was definitely a plus. Overall, I had a great experience. This place is one of the raddest barber shops I've ever been to. The atmosphere is fun, the service is incredible, and for a good price you get a good haircut. If you want a sick haircut I recommend going to this place. My favorite barber is Omar because he has given me the sickest mid-fades of my life. After I get my cut I get tons of people telling me how fresh I am and girls just falling for me because of it. I was recommended by a friend to try out Elevate, so I thought why not. MANNN he wasn't playing when he said that this place is the future of barbershops! Such a cool and modern shop. I was able to book my appointment ONLINE easily. This is the only shop I know that allows you to do this. There are numerous of barbershops in my area, but what caught my attention was the fresh cuts, and the number of positive reviews about this place. I'm not sure if he is still with Faded Society, but I can honestly say that he was one of the best barbers I've had throughout the years. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the establishment - barbers cutting hair while extremely high (maybe that's why it's called "faded society"), music blasting as if it's a nightclub, barbers with certain persona's trying to prove they are more "macho" than the rest, and conversations not friendly for a business where women and children visit. Ultimately, I did not feel comfortable coming to such an establishment, and left. Mind you, this was the culture of this barbershop in the aforementioned years; maybe it has changed since then and the owner has done things to make his establishment more professional. He didn't style it or take his time. He shaved one side, kind of half-heartedly, and thought that's all I wanted. When I told him I needed both sides done, he seemed annoyed. The whole thing took less than 15 minutes, and he still charged $30 for a really sloppy job. He did two quick snips on the top and called it "textured." Honestly, I feel ripped off. I wouldn't have minded paying that if he actually took the time to do it right and made the haircut look good. But the end result just wasn't it.
