Awesome barbershop just a few minutes from my job, making this a convenient place to get a cut. Called prior to my arrival and asked if they would take me as a walk in that afternoon at approx 6 pm. I was told yes and I made my way there and a couple clients were being treated. I was treated by Joe to whom I explained with detail what I was looking for as he figured I was a first-timer here. Throughout my haircut and beard cleanup, Joe ensured in asking about the smallest details which was great since I was able to explain knowing he was listening. Small location with very little parking on premises, however seems like street parking is another option. Nice interior with simple decor, neat, and clean. I've been going to this barber shop for the past two years without any issues until today. The barber intentionally cut off half of my hair without my consent. Not sure what his name is but his chair is the second one when you walk in, tattoos, always wears a hat. I've had the same hair cut every single time. All of the barbers know exactly who I am, including David, the owner. I know you're thinking that it was probably a big misunderstanding, but I assure you that it was not. I was on the phone with my property manager while I was waiting and had some conversations that involve discussions about money. Perhaps this gave him the wrong impression as if I have tons of money to blow and this was his way of "getting back at me." It's pretty pathetic to be honest. I think the worst part is that I tipped him $100 during Christmas. This hit me hard. How can someone that I was so generous to be so cruel and unprofessional? You can tell by his demeanor that he was expecting me to be very disappointed with the outcome of my haircut. I wasn't happy, but I also wasn't disappointed. At the end of the day, it's just a haircut and it's going to grow back eventually. I was more concerned with trying to understand if I did something to make him want to treat me in this way. All in all, my experience has been great up until today. Unfortunately, I will definitely not be returning. You have lost a customer for life. Just because the owner is not there does not mean you can treat customers however you want and allow your ego to damage someone else's business. I will stop by the shop sometime this week so you can see my hair for yourself. Once you see my hair cut, you will understand exactly what happened. You will know who's telling the truth and who's blowing hot air. Let's be honest, did you think he was just going to admit what he did behind your back? For the record, the only reason I did not express how I truly felt about my hair cut while I was at the barber shop is because by that point, I felt threatened by him. I was genuinely concerned for my safety. If someone is unstable enough to chop off more than half of my hair without my consent as a means of retaliation due to my perceived socioeconomic background, how would I know that he wouldn't cross other boundaries, including but not limited to my own safety? After he was done cutting my hair, he asked me something he's never asked before, "Did I already show you your hair?" I responded, "No, not yet." He said, "Oh shoot, I must be tripping," with a twisted smirk on his face. As I mentioned before, he was fully expecting me to be disappointed with my hair cut. I even wondered if it had anything to do with my ethnicity. Regardless, from business owner to business owner, you need to purge employees who have a tendency to place their egos above the needs of the business. Urban city has been my go to place for over 2 years now. I wondered into this place after my last barber disappeared overnight. I came here mainly because of convenience - I live 5 min away- but I stay because of the quality work. I've had all of the barbers cut my hair at one time or another but I have to say that Juan and Joel are my favorites. Juan listens and takes his time to get things right. He'll check with you before doing anything drastic, so there is no misunderstanding. Joel is also very detail oriented and gets the cut right every time. Covid restrictions for the waiting area are in place as of now, as is a "wear a mask" policy. They are clean and careful and they make you feel at ease now and always. I get my cut here, my 13 y/o son does too and I can't recommend this spot enough. read more

I've been to this place a few times since I liked how one of barbers did my hair. He went on vacation longer than expected and I got a haircut by one of the other 2 guys. They have no sense of business and also rude as they seem to be part of a brotherhood group and wouldn't take outsiders. I know right?. They open at 10 AM but they don't take appointments until 11 AM. So you have to wait for an hour to get in. Non sense. I really liked the way Juan cut my hair but I won't be coming back. I really want to give them a great review, and want to love them but it's hard. Also, if you have a long drive to get here I suggest calling ahead to see if they're even taking walking. My last visit, drove 40 minutes, got inside sat down it was 6:20pm and they told me they're not taking walk-ins. Positives: They give great cuts, for a decent price that doesn't bust your budget. They listen to what you want done, no matter how picky you may be, I would always get compliments on my cuts. They're accommodating and willing to see you as long as you get through that door by 6:30pm or they'll lock it in front of you. Negatives: The days they are open just don't work with my work schedule. They used to be open Sunday and Monday's, which were perfect because I would be able to stop by on Sunday for a quick cut. Now they're closed Sundays and Mondays. Parking lot is very small, street parking is available. read more

Did a last minute haircut for my 8 year old on a Saturday. Called in and got in right away. Little Joe made my little man handsome and styling. The true test is the next day when it's washed and he has to do it himself. What a haircut. Little guy felt proud and walked a little taller with his new do. Owner was awesome.
