While attending the recent Pride in the Vines event, my friend was on a mission to find a great sparkling wine. After striking out at a couple of other wineries, we stumbled across Elevation Ten, and we're so glad we did. Antonio and Courtney immediately made us feel welcome. Antonio poured us tastes of their Blanc de Blanc and Rosé to help us decide, and we ended up ordering a bottle of the Blanc de Blanc and one of their Strawberry Lemonade Spritzers. It was crisp, refreshing, and easily our favorite sparkling wine of the day. While we were tasting, Courtney took the time to answer some of my friend's questions about the winemaking process. We never felt rushed, and it was clear they were both passionate about what they do. Great wine is always a plus, but friendly, knowledgeable people make the experience even better. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back to visit Elevation Ten again. If you're a fan of sparkling wine, this winery is absolutely worth a stop. read more

Came here on a saturday morning for a graduation celebration. The place was well designed. Very comfortable. If you were to sit outside on a chilly day, they offer blankets and have horrible.Heaters. And fun fact--this spot is actually one of fourteen tasting rooms in the Old Sugar Mill. If you're a fan of these lighter wines, I highly recommend to try a their wines and rosé. Also, check out the is Sangria. Each sip was a burst of freshness! The cheese plate here had a great combination of cheeses (obviously), jam, and nuts. Plus, they also sell these amazing jams and olive oils that would make the perfect pairing or even a cute gift to take home. They even have a VIP area for members, which is such a cool touch! 15 minutes from Downtown Sac, inside the Old Sugar Mill Thanks to Fiona for a pleasant experience at Elevation Ten located inside the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg. We had a 3:15p reservation for two. We had our Mom with us (not planned) but they allowed her to come sit with us while we sampled some tastings. Fiona started us off with their 2020 Clarksburg Pinot Noir Rosé... it was actually nice. Look for a majestic brick building, the Clarksburg's historic Old Sugar Mill, and Elevation Ten is on your right side. Masks were required to enter the building but not required inside the tasting room. My observation was people were just done with the masks and noticed many of the guests did not wear them inside. Inside the tasting room the staff was super friendly and our hostess, Fiona, was very knowledgeable about the wines they offered. We did like the Pinot Noir Rosé but we asked about the dessert wine, she suggested we try a chocolate flight with the After Ten Port Style Wine. Oh my, what a delightful pairing. Checked out Elevation for the first time a couple of weeks ago after signing up for the Yelp Passport to Yolo Wine Country. It was a quick drive from our house minus some traffic. I love driving through the windy roads to get to the Old Sugar Mill where Elevation is located. I made a reservation over the phone and they staff was very friendly. When we arrived, we were escorted to an outdoor table and told someone would be with us soon. Dean arrived shortly after and took good care of us! We were able to try 5-6 different wines (from what I recall) and as someone who is a red wine fan, my favorite from the bunch was actually one of their whites. I even took a bottle home. We ordered a small charcuterie box for the table and they also provided complimentary breadsticks. Through Yelp, we were able to get our tastings for free plus a chocolate and port pairing which was my favorite part! Overall, the tasting was about an hour and half. I called for a reservation for 2 on Father's Day and was pleasantly surprised to find they had room for my sister and me! We came in a few hours later and Alena (probably didn't spell that right, sorry!) was our server. She was the absolute sweetest. It was our first time to Elevation Ten and we just loved the vibe. The live music made the bar so entertaining and the music was so calming. The young lady singing had such a soothing voice. It was the perfect to listen to while relaxing with a few glasses of wine. They don't have a "tasting menu" from what I understand. Alena asked what we preferred/liked and she brought over wines for us to taste based on our preference. We had a few whites and several of their reds, and I found the white sparking my favorite. We also tasted the dessert port with the truffle and found the port really rich and heavy, but the truffle was the absolute winner there! Wow, I had an incredible experience here! I enjoyed every second of being a patron from entering with live music playing, great staff that is super helpful, and fantastic wine. Definitely, one of my top places to come now that I have been here. I'm already considering joining their club ;) From all the varieties of wines they offer, I enjoyed just about all of them. The tasting room is located in the dining paradise of what looked like a mall for wine and food lovers. Just like at Berryessa Gap, seating offered a bunch of options. The associate was really passionate about the wines they're making and provided a brief history on the family who owns the winery. This was our first stop for the day at the Old Sugar Mill. We had the hibiscus mimosas, which were very unique and delicious. We did not do a tasting, but wine is such a personal thing that my opinion is really my own. However, customer service was personable and very low key. Since there was only one other couple there, we were permitted to sit in the comfy chairs in the member section, which was a great place to sit, chat, and enjoy our mimosas. Getting together with friends is always fun, especially when you are exploring new restaurants, wineries, distilleries, and such! What's better than an old abandoned building? An old, refurbished building transformed beautifully into a bustling hub of numerous wineries! Our group of friends, old and new, went this weekend to visit the old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg, specifically Elevation 10, a good introduction of the Mill, and a good introduction of sampling some latest vintages! There appeared to be other small businesses in the Mill to explore, so I must go back when I have more time and when it's not so busy (this was the last wine tasting available for us for the year). For a $10 tasting fee (redeemable towards any wine purchases) you can reserve Elevation 10's private tasting room, located in the back, which we reserved for our group of over 20 happy "whiners"! Our server was attentive and provided us with complementary chilled water and bread sticks. ;o) The wines were ok. Our group, as a whole, usually enjoys the Cabernet, but on this occasion, surprisingly the Pinot Grigio was the favorite of the wines sampled. I believe if you were to purchase a bottle of wine, you would receive a 35% discount. Our group was not impressed with the "samples", so, we purchased a bottle of the proprietors blend Cabernet, which was delicious. Besides wine, to my surprise and delight, they have a WONDERFUL sampling of (dipping) olive oils and balsamic vinegars (my weakness). I love good olive oil and thick, delicious flavored balsamic! They sell gift certificates, as well, and with Christmas around the corner, the Sugar Mill and Elevation 10 is a great place to do some early Christmas shopping! I am still learning the skill of wine tasting. It seems many wineries push a wine club membership. I just want to say, "I am just passing through and hanging out with friends and thinking about buying a bottle as a gift". I didn't feel any pressure here to join, nor did I feel as if we were treated differently than "club members". Actually, having our own room, server, etc felt pretty special! I recommend you check out the Sugar Mill during the week as parking is next to impossible on the weekend and you'll end up parked out in a muddy field, for overflow parking, especially during the rainy season. Your tires will be coated with mud and rocks...not even going to mention shoes. I was fortunate not to have to park or walk in the mud. Felt bad for those who did...ugh. Definitely arrive in a 4x4 and leave the 2-door Mercedes convertible at home...especially during rainy season. However, drive those convertibles during the warmer weather as it is a beautiful drive through the town of Freeport and along the Sacramento River! Sugar Mill: 5 stars! Sugar Mill Parking: 1 star Friends: 5 stars! Elevation 10 olive oil and balsamic vinegar: 5 stars! I made a reservation here due to COVID and I had a less than pleasing experience overall. I stated in my reservation that I was celebrating a graduation and engagement but we were stuck in a back corner outside and the service was sub par. We were ignored most of the time and the hostess gave us no information regarding the wines she was pouring - which was very infrequent. Overall, save your money and go somewhere else where the wine tastes better and the service is good. I would not return here just due to the lack of adequate service - disappointing. read more

On my first visit to Old Sugar Mill, I was drawn to this particular winery. The room is very inviting and gave a warm feel (probably the lighting). One lady was already helping another group but we were gladly welcomed by the second gentleman behind the counter, very nice and attentive. Since it was my first time, he didn't charge me the $5 fee. I tried all the whites, only one of the reds (not my thing), and three of the dessert wines. My favorite -- due to my obvious sweet tooth -- was the 2009 Muscat Cannelli, described as "delightful brandy infused dessert wine with flavors of infusive fruits with hints of coffee and caramel." Also has hints of pear, white peach, orange blossom, apricot and floral finish. The other dessert wines were new and not on the price list yet, but the Muscat Cannelli came out to $24. So much for saving my $5! read more

When we were at the Sugar Mill this weekend, we were excited to see that a new winery had joined the lineup. Elevation Ten looks very inviting upon first inspection - the tasting room is set up really pretty, with lots of space and lovely decor. The rustic table and chair set in the middle of the room provides seating, in addition to the little nook in the back with cute orange leather chairs - the other wineries here don't have anything set up like this. They also have a little station against one wall with fruit-infused water and cheese samples, which is a nice touch. The bar itself is also very nice, and large enough so that unless you're stuck standing next to an obnoxious bratty frat guy with no concept of personal space (not that this kind of thing happened to me), theoretically you'll be comfortable while tasting. Now, on to the wines. Tasting fee is $5, and that gets you a full flight from their tasting menu. They actually collect the $5 from you BEFORE you start tasting, which is kind of weird but whatever. That is refunded later if you decide to buy a bottle. There are 3 whites (Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Muscat Cannelli) and 3 reds (Merlot, a "Proprietor's Blend", and a Cabernet). I really wasn't impressed to be honest. The Pinot Gris was kind of blah (drinkable sure, but no personality to it and way overpriced). The Chardonnay was not to my liking at all (way too crisp with an unpleasant sharpness to it as well - but that could just be me, as I prefer oaky Chards and this one is stainless-steel only). At this point I just skipped straight to the Muscat, since I'm even pickier about my reds and figured I wouldn't like them much. The Muscat is fortified with brandy and was actually quite pleasant. Not too sweet, and not overly brandied either. However, at $20/bottle, I didn't like it enough to buy it. There are other wineries at the Sugar Mill (in particular Todd Taylor and Three) with much higher quality wines AND wines that are more appropriately priced according to quality, taste, and craft. Maybe Elevation Ten will improve its wines in the future, but for right now, I feel that they're just too overpriced for what they are. They're not bad, they're just not my cup of tea (glass of wine?).... read more

The ONE place I did not check in to this day until AFTER the fact, and I lose the opportunity to save 15% on my purchases! RRRRRGH! I bought a pinot grigio, some basil olive oil and some dipping spices. I could really have used that 15% discount. Boo. Really nice winery, decent wines, and our pourer, Jamie, was sweet as can be. I'm spoiled, though. The wine was not good here. It was lacking something. I believe they told us their wine ages in steel barrels instead of wood, which might explain that missing element. I'm no wine expert, so I have no idea if that is it, but it just tasted off. The issue could also be the service. I have never had such poor service. At first we had an older gentlemen helping us who seemed like he was going to be a good guy to have pour our wine. A younger gentleman asked him to get something out of the back and replaced him as our server. He wasn't rude, but he wasn't friendly. He made us feel very rushed. He would basically explain the wine we were drinking, then have the next bottle in hand ready to pour. We were practically having to slam the wine to keep up with the pace he was trying to set. Ugh. At the end of the tasting he didn't even ask us how it was or make any small talk. He dived right in and said ok so how many bottles do you want or do you want to join the wine club? Forget the Napa stereotypes and just relax and enjoy all that Elevation Ten has to offer. We are always taken very good care of by all the staff, particularly Jenny who is funny, engaging and knowledgeable about the wines. They also offer some delicious dipping oil for breads and such, which is a very nice compliment to their wine selections. Their wine club is very affordable and certainly worth inquiring about as you can decide between whites, reds or a combination of both. Their dessert wines are amazing, particularly the Semillon!
