I ended up at Napleton's Elgin Kia because I was in the market to upgrade my vehicle. I had zeroed in on a specific SUV, and they happened to have it. I worked with Dave L. He was a nice guy - and we got to test driving almost right away. Additionally, the price was very fair (the lowest end of KBB), and they negotiated some perks (remote start, which I had on my other vehicle). I did a trade-in, and I expected a low-ball on that, unfortunately. The only aggravating part was the "salesman" show that they put on during negotiations. Dave went back and forth with his "boss," and even once coached me to loudly say, "And I want the remote start!" when he picked up the phone. C'mon guys!!! *eyeroll* I might be a female, but I'm not completely dense. Cut the theatrics and be straight. The remote start, to their dismay, apparently cost them more than they had wanted to spend. I'm not sure how they didn't figure in that they'd need a bypass on a manual trans?? I was aggravated that I dropped the vehicle off for them to do the remote start and they were also supposed to reset the oil change indicator, as well as fix a loose dome light housing. Neither was done when I picked up the vehicle, so they hurriedly fixed the latter. Luckily there was ONE mechanic left at that time! Overall, it was a fine experience, and we both got what we wanted out of the deal. read more

Do not visit. They have no problem selling you a car, but when i tried to return the lease, they told me to stop in anytime. After the tech inspected the vehicle they said they wouldn't accept it and sent me down the road. I encountered a rude reception that didn't understand basic communications and started arguing with me on why I need to keep my plate. Maybe try and inform your employees what is correct and not be confrontational. I asked for basic help and they refused. Try St. Charles...they were like night and day and welcomed me in immediately and had everything done in less than 30 minutes. read more

Although I leased a car from this dealership in 2020, I purchased another Kia EV from a different dealership in 2025 and I had terrible customer service experiences this year when trying to have some warranty work done and diagnosis of an issue. When I made the appointment I spoke to three different customer service staff to describe the problem, and none of them listened to my concerns enough to state the problem accurately. When I brought my car in for my appointment, they did not even look at my car although they had it for an entire day. No one responded to my text to check on the status of the vehicle, and when I came to pick it up it was not ready although I said I needed it the next day. I tried to make an appointment one more time, but when they didn't look at my vehicle again by the afternoon I said I would take it elsewhere. I was treated rudely by the staff and service manager on both occasions. I drove 20 minutes further to the St. Charles dealership and my experience was the exact opposite. They treated me respectfully, diagnosed the issue, sent me a video of the inspection, and had the new part replaced by the next day. I will not go back to Elgin Kia ever again! read more

I'm warning anyone considering doing business with Elgin Kia: I financed a $3,400 extended warranty through them for a used vehicle... but they never gave me the full contract, and are now refusing to let me use the coverage unless I return to their dealership, even though there's no such requirement in the agreement. The warranty company (Service Guardian) confirmed they don't even have a signed contract on file. And forwarded me an unsigned copy with populated onfo from the dealership. Elgin Kia and Service Guardian are now trying to enforce fake "policies" like a 100-mile restriction that do not appear anywhere in the terms. Yet they constantly reference a made up "tie back" which Is just industry jargon or an internal policy they're trying to pass off as enforceable. If this is how they treat paying customers, imagine what they'll do to you after you sign the dotted line. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

When purchasing a new vehicle was told I would have my credit run twice, once from the dealer and once from Kia Finance. It was run 3 times, which is an extra ding on my credit. When I called they said I signed a financing waiver allowing them to run as much as they wanted. I can call Kia finance to fight it. Beware of the credit report hits from them. read more

I finally hit 0 and the call was picked up by someone in sales. He said he would check with the service department. After 11 minutes on hold I hung up. I called back and hit 0 again. Again I spoke to a someone in sales. Put on hold again and finally someone from service picked up the call. Honestly, I got the impression from his tone of voice that he was put off by taking the call. If it takes 2 days to reach someone in the service department even after you choose the prompt to schedule service and they don't answer then it looks like they don't need my business.​ read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE FOR REPAIRS!!!!! We leased a BRAND NEW Kia Telluride through Elgin, and brought it in for repair a couple months later when the cluster screen went black. Once we received the car back, we started noticing error messages coming on in the car. We took it back to Elgin Kia, and they held our vehicle "repairing it" for around 50 days....YES 50! My wife and I can see when the doors are open or engine is started on the Kia app, and I can tell you they rarely worked on it over those 50 days, it became laughable when we would get a notification that the doors were open. After getting the car back finally close to 2 months later, we noticed error lights coming on yet again, so decided to take it to Kia Schamburg for another opinion. Kia Schamburg was absolutely *HORRIFIED* by the shady work Kia Elgin did here on a 2024 Kia Telluride. Kia Schamburg said they've never seen anything like the shady work Elgin did. Well...the reason the error lights were coming on in the first place after fixing the cluster screen, is not any other issue other then Kia Elgin completely destroyed our car in the process. High pressure fuel line not secure, ground for engine not secure, multiple coolant leaks, high pressure fuel line is pressing on coil pack, bracket not bolted into motor...See the photos of Kia Elgin's work!!! I couldn't believe that we had trusted Elgin Kia to the point where the other dealer said we're surprised your car didn't catch on fire already. Everyone from the other Kia dealer, to Kia Consumer Affairs and Better Business Auto Line is on our side here, and are currently making it right with other options when Elgin Kia failed to. I don't normally do this, but I feel like I need to... For those that don't know, I purchased a new Kia K5 last January from Gerald Kia in North Aurora. The sales process there was great. The salesman was great. 0 complaints about Gerald Kia. Little did I know that would be the beginning of the end with my relationship with Kia. Just 6 weeks into my ownership, I started having issues with the electronics pertaining to the safety (lane detection system and crash avoidance system). I brought the car in to Elgin Kia, as that is the closest Kia dealer to me. That was my first mistake. The care was in the shop for 3 MONTHS. During that time, the service manager texted me a picture of my car (pictures attached). This was no longer a new car! I got a phone call saying that the electrical problem was solved, but they were waiting for the hail damage to be fixed. WHAT HAIL DAMAGE? No one ever called me to tell me that my car had suffered hail damage from a storm. Yes, the original reason why I brought the car in was due to a defect in the car, but the customer service in the service department at Elgin Kia was terrible. After I got my car back, I immediately had to bring it back in, as either the steering wheel wasn't put back on right, or it needed an alignment, because to keep the car going straight, I had to keep the wheel turned about 3 degrees to the left! It's evident that no one test drove the car after fixing it, or they could have easily seen and fixed that issue. I finally got my car back, and in working with Kia customer service, the only thing I could get from them was a maintenance plan. That meant I had to either go back to Elgin Kia, or drive 20 miles out of the way to go to another dealer. Through the rest of 2023, things were OK. I still feel it's not quite the same car I had purchased, but it was good enough. I don't expect it to be the same car, based on the state it was in. Then comes January, 2024. I was out at a store, got back in my car and headed home, only to find out that my GPS in the car wasn't tracking with me any longer. I brought the car back in to Elgin Kia yet again. I was told this would be an easy fix, as it was just a computer update. I got a phone call later that day, and instead of "your car is ready", I got "Your car didn't accept the update. We tried 3 times, and now all that's on the screen is the Kia logo." And of course, the new radio they had to order was on back order, so there's another 3+ weeks of me not having my car. I get the car back only to find out that the navigation doesn't work any longer. Again, no one tried out the car after the repairs! Come to find out that in order to use the Navigation in a Kia, you have to pay for their Kia connect service. My 1 year free trial (didn't know I had a free trial) ran out on me while it was in for service. Fast forward to this weekend. The car finally needs it's first oil change. I scheduled the oil change at Elgin Kia for 1:00 this afternoon. At 9:30 this morning, I get a phone call from one of the service advisors telling me that the owner of Elgin Kia no longer wants to do business with me!!!! Apparently, when you get those customer service surveys, they mean something. I was honest on those surveys, so much so that I have rated them a total of 172 points out of 1000 on my last 5 surveys. There is money tied to those surveys, and it is no longer financially viable from the owner of Elgin Kia to do business with me! I was speechless. When I asked to speak to the owner, I was told the he probably wouldn't speak with me! I can't even... So, I am DONE with Kia. I am DONE with Elgin Kia, and I strongly encourage everyone with a Kia to avoid this dealership. Rather than addressing the issues they have, they choose to cut ties with the honest customers that have had sub-par experiences. How is that customer service? read more

Unfortunately, I had to have the engine replaced in my Kia Optima and have a number of other recalls done. Silvana in the service department coordinated everything with Kia Corporate to have the necessary repairs done under warranty. I also had some other needed work done that wasn't covered but it was done at a very fair price. They completed all the work timely and kept me in the loop periodically throughout the process. Picked up the car and it's running as if new. Silvana and the other service members are a delight to work with and I have no hesitation in having our cars serviced there. read more

Shady as heck; they tried to change the price of my Telluride order after it was signed! Had never owned a Kia, but after a couple months of research into SUVs, I was very intrigued with the 2020 Telluride and thought that I would give Kia a chance. Inventory on that vehicle was sparse though so I paid a $1,000 deposit and ordered one through the dealership. The lead time on my order was 12-15 weeks. About 2/3 of the way into that wait, the sales rep contacted me and said that the price of my order was going to increase by $800. I told him to honor what we had already signed. He told me that the manufacturer was increasing prices on the vehicle and that 100% of the increase would be transferred to me. This very well could of been the case, but I had already caught them in another lie, so I wasn't sure I wanted to believe this. Why would Kia try to screw over early adopter pre-orders of the vehicle like this... I asked the sales rep if I could talk to the general manager, I was told that he was on vacation and that he would call next week, he never called, I tried to contact the general manager again and again, to no avail. I ended up canceling the order, I don't do business with people or companies that renege on a handshake, it's typically the tip of the iceberg. And the fact that the manager blew me off several times over the course of a couple weeks, just shows the lack of respect he has for customers. Kia won't always have the 'hot' SUV, but their true colors showed when they did, and I've concluded that I will avoid Kia and in particular this Kia dealership like the plague. read more

Worst car buying experience - Do NOT buy a car from this dealership. I read all the negative reviews and thought "this won't happen to me" - It did. I ordered a custom Telluride and placed a $500 deposit on it. Waited 4 months for the car to come, came to the dealership, and ultimately they REFUSED to let me buy the car. The car I ordered and waited FOUR months for. I will be filing with the better business bureau. The dealership and management are unethical and mistreat their customers. They coerce you into a good review and will sell your car to someone else. During the sale - At one point, the manager came and said "let's be clear, you WILL fill out the Kia survey you get after you buy the car like this" (the survey was filled out with great marks). This pre-approved loan included a cosigner (my wife) as she makes more money than I. Instead of accepting the fact that I already had a pre-appoved loan, the finance department here, ran three more applications with just my name. My daughter went to this dealer for her first car. She had money saved to pay cash for this car. She was charged $1000 for them to inspect the car before they released it to her. Granted she didn't get a warranty but she paid 19K cash for this car. Three months later she gets check engine light and she takes it back to the dealer and they want $300 to check the car. What was the point of charging $1000 at purchase if now they're charging another $300? We know what the issue is, it's the fuel injector which the part alone is $800. This place sells lemons. We left to go to see some other local dealers but returned later and bought a certified Kia Sorento. We didn't feel too pressured to buy and the guys were all fun to work with. They gave a fair price for our trade and worked hard for us to get a deal that I was happy with. We haven't yet tried the service dept or been for a car wash but hope to soon. I came in with a slightly functioning sunroof, they were supposed to fix it and ended up breaking it completely. They sent me on a wild-goose chase with the Kia warranty department for months on end until I reach the end of their warranty process in which they told me I would not be receiving help from Kia because it was an issue with the dealership. After that, I called the dealership several times and each time was told I would receive a call back, however I was never called back. I went to the dealership in person and spoke to a manager who said to come in on a specific date and they would take care of it. When I showed up on that day they told me they had no record of that and that the manager I had spoken with was no longer there. They will not take responsibility for their actions, and were difficult to work with at every step. I would never go back voluntarily. TL/DR: They broke my car and refused to fix it. read more

Scam artists! Beware of Bait and Switch! Do not buy from here! I had gone out to test drive a vehicle on a Saturday. The Salesman Kostya Reznik (all around bullshitter) directed me away from the car, saying it wasn't fit to drive. Sounds great. Then tried to get me into another brand (which I did not want to look at, at all!) We did find a car that I did like. I test drove it but kept hearing a clicking noise when you would make a turn. According to Kostya the car needed a $50 part to fix the ball joint. The price at the time for the car was $7,995. When I showed my apprehension, the price was then lowered to $6,995. I wasn't sure and wanted to check with a mechanic friend on the amount of the repair. I stepped out to call and when I came back they offered the car for $5,995. I told him I needed to go figure out how I was going to finance the car but would call him back later in the day. After discussing the repair with my mechanic friend and a banker friend, I had a plan and called the dealership back in 2hours stating I would buy the car after it was fixed. I was told the part would be delivered on Monday and repaired. It was a minor repair and it wouldn't take long. On Tuesday I checked on the progress and was told the car was scheduled to be worked on. Wednesday I got a text that the car was ready and when could I come in to pick it up? I replied 6:30pm. I had to take an Uber to the dealership (cost $40) and from the moment I got there I was passed around like a hot potato. Kostya was suddenly busy. Some other used car manager wanted me to take another test drive; which I did. Then when we got back that guy disappeared and another sales person came over and advised me that the price of the car had now changed due to the "minor" repair. It was $7,295 now! $1,300 more than negotiated. I was told take it or leave it. Because I didn't put any money down there was no deal. I said to this 3rd salesman that I was not going to put money down on a vehicle that needed a repair. He replied with "well that's too bad then. I guess you don't get a car today." When confronting the sales person and advising him that he could have told me they were planning on changing the price before I paid for an Uber out to the store, his response was "sorry". I later received some b.s. text from him on how things had changed and I should have given them money on Saturday. Oh and I had to Uber back home. So I was out $80 and 2 hours of time. This is a horrible way to do business. I hope Karma bites them back! Do yourself a favor and steer clear of the dealership and Kostya. read more

Call to talk to the GM and talked to 3 separate people after 32 minutes of being on hold still no GM and they want to send me to his voicemail! This is out of control and the sad part is my wife had to call them to get an update! What can I say - buying a car is an asspain of varying degrees. This was not the worst experience by any means... but not close to the better ones. I met Kostyn. Nice enough chap. Took me for a test drive. Nothing really to complain about. We sat down to talk numbers and the sales manager came over to shake my hand. That is when the ah-ha moment happened. Games. So they had me sit for a half hour while Kostyn "ran the numbers". I spent the time reading a binder of positive puffery and a notice about the $1499 upcharge for certification... meaning the price you see is not the price you pay. Then my guy came back with the numbers. I had found a similar vehicle with similar miles at another dealer for $1800 less and talked about it before the test drive. He assured me they price match, and then during the numbers discussions informed me that it either wasn't a certified vehicle or didn't include the $2500 certification upcharge. So no pricematch. The whole time he was talking I was emailing the other dealer asking these questions, and even after the fact I called two other dealerships and they're prices are advertised... no upcharge for certified. Then he presented me with the KBB appraisal for my truck. At least $3k less than when I ran my truck. Apparently they missed the custom head unit, custom bed liner and premium sound system when doing their "appraisal". To be honest, I knew what I was getting myself into - so this is more a review of their sales techniques. Visit here at your peril. It just seems like they take you for a sucker unless proven otherwise. I walked away. Better deals to be had elsewhere. Kia cars are pretty nice though (silver lining)! read more
