Food is good -- service sometimes hit and miss but we eat there once a week -- home cooking reasonably priced we love the grilled catfish

Food was decent took forever to get and then it wasn't hot. no seasoning on the chicken stripes. Gravey was really good and fries were soggy. not somewhere I'd eat often. read more

Was told my order was ready at 7:15, wasn't even started when I showed up to pick it up. The brownie has nuts in it and doesn't say anything about having nuts in it in their online order portal. Fortunately they were able to substitute one of them with peach cobbler. The staff was very nice but the kitchen needs to get better at timing and whoever is doing the descriptions for their online order portal needs to do better with the descriptions so that someone with allergies doesn't get something by accident. read more

A hair more effort and it could easily be a 4 star in my book. The rolls are great. Let's get that part done. The service is excellent. Really nice staff overall. Now, let's get down to the food. Country fried steak itself was ok not amazing. It was decently prepared but the gravy was seriously too thick. Also, a hair more salt guys. Everything was under-salted, including the sides. We came into town for a couple of days. We ate here. We were really surprised that the ratings weren't higher for this place. Everything my family and I ordered was homemade and tasted great. All the way up to the croutons on the salad. If we would have went somewhere else based off their ratings I believe we would have missed out on some really good food. After a long drive we were pleased this down home restaurant was on the motel property. Very friendly folks, and a tasty and satisfying bowl of red beans and rice had us smiling! The complimentary corn muffins with butter were a very nice touch. read more

Since when did Elijah's get so cheap...2 rolls for two meals put two different peoples pies in one container charging for butter for your rolls and no giving out silverware. We eat here 3 to 4 times a week. It's time to spend our money somewhere else. read more

I normally have a great meal at Elijah's however today I picked up my call in order of fried catfish and shrimp with sides squash casserole and red beans and rice. The shrimp were fried so hard and dried out I think they were left over from day befit the fish not great but better than the shrimp. The red beans and rice was missing the rice the casserole was dried out and then the hush puppies were over cooked and the rolls were hard. Thanks Elijah's for money wasted read more

Stopped for lunch while traveling through area and so glad we did. Welcoming place and very clean . Our waitress was lovely and the choices on the menu were plentiful - cornbread and rolls were brought to table and very good . Had the Cajun feast and blackeyed peas and fried okra . Wow this was by far the best meal I enjoyed on my trip to Texas! Haha I stayed a few days out this way while tending to family death and the worst snow storm to hit Texas 2020. The staff was welcoming and the foos was home cooked and delicious! Lots of young staff waiting tables for the first time and post covid. I ordered the fried catfish, okra, and dressing and gosh the bread and sweet tea. Yes southern eating at its finest ! Great atmosphere very rustic and open dining space. This was even busy in a weekday since not too many good spots to eat at. So be patient with the lines or the table service it's all worth it ! read more

Terrible experience. We stopped in for lunch today and I ordered a salad with chicken. The lettuce was brown and slimy. I was never able to tell the waitress because she never came back to the table after dropping the food. When she brought the check my food was untouched at the table and she just picked it up and left. Didn't ask if anything was wrong, didn't offer to remove it. We won't be back. read more

This place seemed to stay filled up so that's always a good sign in my book. But even then our wait wasn't very long at all. The food was good and the portions were large. The chicken spaghetti was on point, definitely worth ordering, as were the fried pork chops. The serving of cobbler for dessert was huge! I loved the croutons in the salad, so good! Even though the place was packed, we didn't have to wait. The CFS and mashed potatoes were amazing! The breading on the CFS was crisp and light. The gravy was thick and flavorful. Absolutely wonderful!!! Our server Brandon was awesome!!! Very polite, enjoyed making small talk. Made sure that we kept fresh drinks and kept us up to date on our orders. It was super busy, but totally worth the wait time. We couldn't even finish our food because we got full from our entrees. The rolls and butter was perfect!!! Me and my family went to Elijah's for lunch, and they we're awful. My grandmother ordered a friend stake, but the food had no stake in it, and the batter was not even cooked all the way. I got chicken straps and french fries, and there was hair in my food. My mother ordered the beef tips and rice, and she said it just tasted terrible. I will say some of the workers are really sweet but others not so much and the service was also slow. I don't recommend Elijah's in Jasper tx. read more

Ate there today for lunch. We had the chicken & dumplings, chicken spaghetti & chicken fried steak. Everything was good. We had fried mushrooms as an appetizer. The mushrooms are huge. Average food. Almost no healthy options. Restaurant manager unprofessional and treats employees terribly. Talks to you like a child. Worked there for two weeks and it was the worst job I've ever had. Terrible work environment, no one smiles at all, employees seem to be miserable. Rat/mice infestation. Found a mouse trapped on a sticky pad about 5 feet from the main cooling area of the kitchen. Mentioned it to management and nothing was done all day. I finally took the initiative and disposed of it properly myself. I can not recommend eating here read more

This place is so comforting to be at. It is definitely a Jasper type establishment. I like to spend my money where I know it's appreciated, and considered as Gods provision. Masks cannot hide smiles.
