The food is excellent, the service is excellent, the ambience is great for a southern style restaurant. The bar is easy to get to and always full of hot fresh food. The staff is always friendly attentive and keeps your glass full. For the value of what you pay for it should get a 8 star. The food here at the Cedar Tree is always really good and there is a great selection everyday on their Buffet Table!! The have a really nice Salad Bar on one side with plenty to choose from. On the other side is their main courses and sides and they're are always 3 to 4 main items to choose from as well as sides. When your done their is a dessert section in between the two! Although it's buffet, there are waitresses that attend to your needs like drinks and anything else you might need. The ambience is here is what we like, there are a lot of antiques decorating the walls and other places that give it a really laid back at home feeling. That's why we like coming here!!! read more

Stopped in here on our way home to Austin. Really enjoyed the buffet and we are particular about buffets. Food always looked fresh and arranged nicely. I had some catfish (really tasty/fried right!), green beans that were cooked perfectly and not cooked until they break apart. The salad bar had a good variety of offerings to dress up any sad lettuce! The dessert table had home made pies and the chocolate pie was as good as mine (and I only do home made!). Visited this place with my mother. I was surprised at the quality and quantity of the food. The small horse shoe shaped self serve bar was always full of food and desserts. I sampled everything. The food was really great. The service was fast and the servers smiled and seemed to be very helpful. I noticed that the servers actually wiped down the seats and tables after each use. I visited Cedar Tree for their Friday seafood buffet. That night they featured a low country boil which was seasoned very nicely and kitchen staff ensured the table was stocked. Everything else on the buffet was "meh.". The server did a great job ensuring customers lemons and drawn "butter.". That "butter" is the primary reason for my mixed review. And wow, the chocolate pie tasted homemade just like my aunt used to make at the holidays (perfect flaky crust)! Rich chocolate filling. What a treat! Last time I visited here they were still in the old building! That's been awhile!! The new place (to me anyway) is still very good! The waitress was very outgoing and friendly, and got us seated right away. It wasn't very crowded at all and it was a little after 6pm. They have a very good menu, but my wife and I opted for the buffet. Our little one who is six chose to get a cheese burger off of the menu with fries. He really loved it and said it was very good. The buffet had fried catfish, chicken fried steak, beef stew, kernel corn, greens, fried mushrooms, sweet potatoes, green beans, and dinner rolls. The other side of the buffet was a salad bar and my wife said it was very good with many items to choose from for your salad. They also had a variety of dessert items on the buffet, pies, and cakes. First time here today and we were blown away. Today was Buffett day: fried fish, chicken, dressing, veggies, casseroles, salad, rolls, ect. The fried fish was TO DIE FOR. The rolls were amazing. The desserts - decadent. All of the food was heavenly. We arrived around 12:40 and it was packed to the hilt, but we were seated within 10 minutes. We will definitely be back soon !!! Struggling between 4 and 5 stars. If my review was based on the quality of the food alone I'd say 5 stars for sure. My husband and I tried a little bit of everything and it was all delicious. However, the restaurant space itself and service brought the experience down a bit. There are lots of seating options. But when you have that many people and the buffet area is very tiny it gets crowded very quickly. I would love to see the space available taken advantage of. This was our first time here and we were given our drinks then our server took off and we weren't really sure where to go so we just wandered around until we found the buffet. There were quite a few options but not as many as you'd assume there would be for a buffet. We really did enjoy what was put out though. The salad bar, actual food and dessert were all crammed in that one little area. I'd have to say my favorite entree option was the fried chicken, the crust was PERFECT! If they have them out, definitely try the carrots! They had a bit of a sweet spice to it, they tasted like something you'd eat during the holidays, very yummy. Worth stopping by for lunch or dinner.
