Made a reservation for 6 for my brother's birthday and we were all impressed by the food, service and ambiance. Starting off with drinks - delicious cocktails and wine. We ordered a few appetizers to share. The seafood plateau was nice, and we enjoyed the assortment with salmon, tuna tartare, oysters and cocktail shrimp. The kale salad was presented nicely but it was just ok - it was very finely chopped but lacked some depth. The tartare trio was nice to share and I loved the three different profiles with the chips. Onto the main special - the 50 oz tomahawk steak. It does take an hour to prepare. Appreciated our server showing us the whole steak before slicing. Cooked perfectly medium rare, and they gave us an assortment of salts to add if needed. Stunning. For the sides, we got the risotto special, broccolini, roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts. Risotto was amazing and so creamy. If I could go back, I would skip the potatoes. All the other veggies were great. Had to get dessert as well. We got the baked Alaska, cheesecake, crème brûlée and chocolate cake. Beautifully plated. The baked Alaska was so unique and delicious - one of my favorites. The crème brûlée was also amazing. Was here last night for a birthday celebration. Ambiance is very very nice and modern. There are long tables for bigger groups, small tables for 4 and diner type scoot in sections which are perfect for parties sharing food. Our server was very graceful and nice. She's attentive too. We started with two rounds of raw oysters - very very fresh - kusshi and beausoleil. We'll, I have a soft spot for oysters . Then moved to our mains - three cuts of meat: tenderloin strip loin and rib eye cooked medium rare. Also got an order of crispy cauliflower and grilled sea bream. We had Brussels sprouts, mac and cheese for sides. Disappointing to say that everything was good except for the steaks. It was underwhelming. And because it was cooked medium rare, strip loin cut had tendons that I can't cut through. They could have added a bit of seasoning and char the meat a tad bit. We had it grilled a second time and now it had lost all its glory - I can't taste the seasoning at all this time. They were careful not to overcook the steaks but it didn't make the list again. Elisa is a restaurant I'd go to for different kinds of steak that I can't/don't normally have access to or cook. Hubby and I came for our anniversary dinner. They started us off with comped champagne which was a nice touch to make the night more memorable. The waitress walked us through the different meat options and their differences. We started with appetizers. The Yellowfish Tuna Tartare came with a side of chips and was delicious. The Beef Carpaccio on the other hand was just OK. I like their Holstein Striploin. The way Elisa grills it over wood gives it a nice wood char flavor. Its tender and the meat has a creamier profile; I'd get this again. Hubby got the Blue Dot PEI Rib-Eye, and it tasted a bit gamey to me. He liked it but I preferred my steak better. To end the meal, Elisa surprised us with Petit Fours for dessert when the bill came. Again, a nice gesture and the desserts were a great finisher to a decadent meal. As for parking in Yaletown, its a bit of a pain. Great place with top notch service and stylish inside. Sadly, not a 5. Not the best at the dishes we tried and more expensive than comparable places. Dishes: - seafood plateau - beef tartare - bison tartare - sablefish - onion rings (side) - kagoshima a5 wagyu - crème brûlée The seafood dishes were generally really good. No complaints, but just better at some others for a comparable or lower price. The tartare wasn't spiced enough and the bread had a slight stale oil flavour. On the other hand, the Sablefish was oversauced. Wagyu was fine. Would have been even better with some grilling to get that melt in your mouth feel. Waitress was very good. Very attentive and had great timing. We let her know we had to leave at a certain time. Oddly though, when ordering wine, they didn't get us to try it first to see if we liked it. Their steaks are prepared exactly the way you like them with an explanation before hand of the cuts of meat if that's something you're into. The marble and texture of some of their cuts are incredible, and to add the smokey charring on top is irresistible. The selection of appetizers is carefully thought out to render it exciting, different and pleasing to various taste buds. Variety, variety, variety...is what I felt with their hors d'oeuvres section. Loved it. With the great space and wonderful food, the cherry on top (no pun intended) was the amazing service. The sheer expertise in guest care was impressive. Great restaurants can guess if you'd like another glass of wine or if you're ready to order desert. With Elisa, they could tell before you knew you wanted it, and they were there without you having to call them over. The service team's attention to detail was astonishing, and this was especially so considering the consistency in high standard maintenance throughout the evening. The philosophy of this place is very clear. They go back to all the traditional basics of upscale dining and what made it so beautiful and exciting many years ago. Something that I personally feel has been going extinct in the hospitality industry....specially post millennium. Elisa is brining it back. We ordered a variety of dishes. We started out with the hand-cut beef carpaccio. It was not bad and actually had a good amount of truffle shavings on top. They also offered complementary bread to start. We ordered the 50oz tomahawk and one of their rib-eyes. I couldn't remember which rib-eye but we went with whichever the server suggested to us. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. I preferred the rib-eye a little bit more since it had more flavour. But both actually tasted really good. The server suggested we order at least four sides to share. We tried their Mac + Cheese, Risotto, Brussel Sprouts, Wild + foraged Mushrooms. The portion size of the brussel sprouts and wild mushrooms was actually quite small. But since we had ordered two big steaks, we were so full afterwards that we almost struggled to finish our food. I think we should have ordered just two or three sides at most. We came here to celebrate a birthday which I mentioned on the reservation but they must have forgotten about it because there was no candle or greeting on the dessert we ordered. We were so full at the end of their meal but wanted to try their Baked Alaska and I'm glad we did. It looked great and tasted yummy as well. Definitely a must try there. My friend and I managed to snag a late night, last minute reservation through our hotel and I was particularly pleased with this recommendation. I have a soft spot for steak houses and I really enjoyed this one. It was laid out in such a way that it was easy to people watch but constructed such that it wasn't easy to overhear conversations. I really enjoyed that quite a bit! Our waitress was delightful. She was charming, personable, honest, and gave solid recommendations. When my friend asked about the duck she was blunt with her assessment of the preparation which was great since our waitress's complaints would have been dealbreakers for my friend. We both ordered the filet (tenderloin on the menu) and where were diverged was I ordered it chef's preparation choice and she ordered it medium rare. Mine came out rare and the taste difference was startling. Whereas my steak sung a chorus of flavor hers came across average. We both marveled at that difference. The oysters were delectable. The potatoes were the only thing to fall flat for me because I found them to be not nearly as flavorful as I am used to from high end steak restaurants. Two visits in two weeks! Last week we all had prime rib which was perfection. This week we all had the Manitoba ribeye and it was amazing. So flavourful!!! Had apps this time a lovely soup and two of us split a caesar salad. Ordered roast potatoes again with the onion rings and brocollini which were just right for the three of us. Steak was definitely one of the best I've ever had. Warm chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream was sooo good and just the right size. The food is definitely on the higher end side, but for the location and what you get, it's worth it. We started with their smoked bison tartare, hamachi crudo and Cesar salad. The smoked bison tartare stole the show for the evening. It was Smokey, flavourful and tender at the same time. So good that I can just order 2-3 of them and call it dinner. We then had the roast dinner which they only do on Fridays, Saturday and Sunday. The steak was tender but not as flavourful as I had hoped. It was a big portion for $70 is which a great deal. We also had a side order of onion rings which were quite nice and reminds me of the onion rings that red Robin does. Decided to try this place for some steak with a couple of friends so we can try more food from the menu. The interior and ambience was amazing with the color combination hitting my aesthetic perfectly. We ordered the beef carpaccio and the tartare trio to start and the veal tartare is my favorite among the three. For steak, we had the pine haven, american black angus, and the beef wellington. The pine haven was top of the list, loved it with the peppercorn sauce. We wanted to try the beef wellington as it may be hard to make at home, but it was only adequate comparing to the other steaks. Noisy ambiance, food is pleasant but definitely not amazing or memorable. The mac & cheese was underwhelming. Burrata is good but not especially fresh. Waygu is decent but nothing too special. For steaks, I would prefer Hy's more. The salmon is mediocre, but the onion rings are nice. Nothing is memorable really. It was a birthday celebration too so they did offer a plate with a candle that says 'happy birthday', literally on a separate plate (dessert not complimentary). which is kind of weird lol In short, we won't be back. read more

I had a pleasant experience here taking an out of town friend to one of the most talked about steakhouses in Vancouver. Overall, I didn't think it was lifechanging, but the food and drinks were certainly well done. Our waiter and the staff at the desk were very accommodating and showed us great hospitality. I liked how the waiter had time for interpersonal communication and some small talk with us despite being so busy with other tables, and that made such a great impression. I appreciated the flexibility in being able to switch from a indoor table to one on the heated patio, as well as the coat check. Shoutout to the sommelier for having such an extensive wine list to peruse through, and you're going to need several minutes for sure to look through the textbook. My friend and I got the Bethel Heights 2018 Pinot Noir as a bottle and it was a very easy drinker type red for me, who enjoys wine appreciation but doesn't drink reds often. It had a lovely magenta, violet color and an aged, fruity palate without being overly smoky. The cocktails were alright and the Charring the Cosmos was really good, with my friend wanting to recreate it at home. I did enjoy how the meats embodied the woody flavours of the grill, but I actually remember giving props to how well done the sides of brussel sprouts and foraged mushrooms were. I would go so far as to say this could be a flagship restaurant of this area of Vancouver! Beautiful interior and design. Getting a reservation wasn't too difficult (albeit on a Wednesday night) The drink was a little scant I got the Rosella it was perfect for me as it was very juicy and sweet/sour. The shrimp was very different than what I'm used to - absolutely sweet like how they say good shrimp is meant to be. Tender as well. Totally changed how I view shrimp cocktails. The salad was fresh but could've had a little more zing to the dressing. The sides of hash brown potatoes and Brussels sprouts were all good. I enjoyed my ribeye. I didn't think I could finish a 10oz but it was very rich and delicious I couldn't let it go to waste. The baked alaska made by the in house pastry chef really showed that someone who cares a lot made it. Had so much complexity to the flavor and textures. Presentation as you can see in the photos show how stunning it is as well. Service was super friendly and professional. We started off with a bottle of bubbly to go with the tartare tasting trio. It came in an impressive tower of three different tartare: the classic beef tartare, signature beef tartare, and veal tartare. My favourite would be the 'classic' beef tartare which was served with caramelized shallot aioli, crunchy onions and grilled bread. Continuing with our appetizers, we ordered the wood-grilled New Bedford scallops. They were cooked perfectly and their richness was contrasted by the Thai style salsa , chili, lime, and fresh cilantro. And now to main course! Elisa has a huge selection of steaks so you definitely need advice from your helpful server! We finally decided to share three steaks among the four of us. We started with the 12oz grass-fed Blue Dot from Prince Edward Island. Next is the Wagyu Flat Iron steak from Brant Lake Farm Alberta. But I think the most interesting one was the Holstein Dairy Cow Striploin from Wisconsin. For side dishes, we had the fried brussels sprouts topped with brown butter and parmesan, as well as truffle mac + cheese macaroni. We were so full by then, but one can never say no to dessert! I'll start off with the ambiance of this restaurant and the aesthetic which are both very thought out, luxurious, intimate, and warm. This is a perfect spot for a date night or even a business dinner. You will impress whoever you are taking there are no questions about that. Their bar is also awesome looking with probably every liquor you can imagine. Their wine list might be one of the biggest wine lists I've seen at a restaurant. The service is impeccable throughout the whole 2 hours we are dining here. The food; We started with the seafood plateau (I believe it was called) it was the smaller version of the seafood tower. Since it was just my girlfriend and I we were very impressed with how much seafood actually came on this plate. You got to taste every seafood item on the menu they offer which was a great touch. The tartar, the prawns, the yellowtail, the oysters everything was 10/10 so fresh and delicious. I honestly wish we got the tower because everything was so delicious you wanted more. For the main course we got the big bone in ribeye that was dry aged, the fries, and the broccolini's. Everything here was also delicious the only thing that could've been a little better is the cut of ribeye itself. It had quite a bit of tendons in it which is something you wouldn't expect with such an expensive cut of meat at a steakhouse. With my Birthday coming up next week, a small group of my foodie friends wanted to get together to celebrate and we decided to splurge and booked Elisa steakhouse as it was on my ever growing list of restaurants that I want to experience. Upon stepping in the restaurant, there were a number of hand sanitizer machines available. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was gorgeous and we got a fantastic table where we got to watch the head chef cook our meal. The only downside of the great kitchen view was how warm it was, even though we were not the closest table to the kitchen. Recommend not to wear a sweater if you are sitting anywhere near the kitchen!! Our server, Eduardo from Brazil, was simply wonderful! He was attentive, made some great menu recommendations, and accommodated our many requests - such as making sure our entire meal could be shared family style. Our beverage glasses were always full along with there being a constant supply of complimentary San Pellegrino sparkling water available at the table. Eduardo knew we were celebrating my Birthday and made sure to congratulate me both at the beginning and ending if the meal. Definitely one of the best dining service I've had, thank you Eduardo! After settling on drinks, we decided on appetizers and ordered the beef carpaccio, tuna tartare, and burrata salad. Our complimentary basket of bread came and we devoured the entire thing. The beef carpaccio was one of the best I've had - lean beef topped with truffle oil and cheese. The tuna tartare was simply unbelievable and burrata salad blew our socks off! Burrata is from Italy and the tomatoes were so flavourful and juicy, best burrata I've ever had. More than pleased with our appetizers we decided on ordering two medium rare prime ribs, two lobsters, one gnocchi, a side carrot dish, and a side broccolini dish. I personally only enjoy rare steaks but this prime rib, even at medium rare, was simply one of the best if not the best I ever had! It was buttery smooth and melts in your mouth. Carrots and broccolini was well cooked with still a crunch. Gnocchi was tasty and we loved the fact that it had a slight spicy kick to it, yum! The lobster had a smoked flavour to it and was the best I've ever tasted. Was so so happy with our main dishes! Lastly, dessert! After ordering a round of coffee and tea we decided to order a dessert sampler along with the cinnamon donuts - think we ordered all the desserts. It was wonderful that Eduardo brought out the dessert sampler with a Birthday candle, I felt so special! I'm not much of a dessert person, especially for chocolate, but the chocolate cake was fluffy and light. Definitely recommend having the chocolate cake, lemon cake, and the cinnamon donuts! Cinnamon donuts smell like the ones from PNE/Playland but was very light and fluffy inside. I only wish there was more! We had such a great experience last year for my birthday we had to come back to celebrate again. Dining as a small party is tricky when all the menu items are so enticing. We settled on the veal tartare to start. While I must confess I am not a big fan of veal, it was successfully the star of a well balanced dish (4/5). For our entrees, we shared a blue dot bone-in rib-eye (3/5) and snake river wagyu striploin (4.5/5). The rib eye was cooked perfectly and tasted good but the meat was tough so we'll likely opt for a different rib-eye next time. The wagyu was divine. It was so incredibly rich and flavourful....yum..... We forgot to ask for light seasoning for the brussels sprouts and found them salty but otherwise good. We had post dinner plans elsewhere so we did not order any desserts. Our server was awesome - attentive and funny (sorry forgot his name). He gave us plenty of space but checked in often. The food is good but expensive here. Beware if you're ordering wine from their extensive wine list. I was discussing with the waitress a few options in the Italian wine category and settled on a bottle of Nebbiolo for about $150, I didn't know the wine but she assured me it was nice. The sommelier came by, did the two second whisk of the bottle label (we were in conversation at the table) and poured, then took the bottle away. I was shocked when the bill arrived to see that it had a $350 Brunello listed. I asked the waitress about it and she assured me that I ordered that bottle, but I was quite clear about the Nebbiolo. Then she asked me "you saw the label right?" and I said "yes" but it was very brief and I didn't know the wine to begin with, she dug in saying basically it was my fault. This was a first date so I was reluctant to get into more of a back and forth with her about it. for my daughters birthday, we thought of finally trying this well reviewed and revered fine dining steak house. I was totally blown away by almost every dish that i was served. The bread with olive oil dip was such a wonderful intro to the meal. Freshly baked crusty French bread. Cant go wrong. The scallops were absolutely amazing. Perfectly charred and cooked, melt in your mouth goodness. So fresh and succulent. The beef wellington was simply outstanding. Not many establishments offer this, so i just had to order it. Chef G. Ramsey would be proud! The entree came pipping hot out of the oven. The pastry was perfectly cooked. The beef inside seared just right, still pink in the centre and sMoky on the outside. Perfect execution by a master chef. The mushroom risotto...another masterpiece. Cooked to perfection. The proper arborio rice was used and quality mushrooms adorned the dish. Not dry but not too wet either. Excellent consistency and the rice cooked and ladled perfectly. The dish told me that time and effort were put in when the dish was being cooked. It was handled with precision timing and by capable hands. Next the grilled rack of lamb! Simply amazing!! Roasted perfectly. Juicy and moist and devoid of the usual lamb smell. With a nice touch of chimichuri sauce to complement the dish. Nice fat to meat ration as well. Each bite bursting with flavour. The only let down of the night for me was the wagyu. For such a delicate cut and quality of meat, it was a bit burnt and over cooked. At this stage, any cut and quality of meat would taste the same. It will be hard to tell and taste the difference. The dessert ...mascarpone cheesecake with sorbet was a perfect ending to a lovely meal. Totally cleansed the palette and re-awakened the taste buds. I would surely go again to try the other entrees.
