I went to Elite Auto because I saw their high marks on Yelp. I had an oil change elsewhere where I was informed that I needed a cv axle. Normally when the boot cracks grease gets everywhere. This was a uniform circle of grease only around the boot; no leakage to the frame. They immediately were suspicious. Upon removal of the grease, further inspection, and a test drive Sonny and Michael decided the boot and axle were in good shape. They were prompt, honest, and thorough. I don't often (ever?) write reviews-- however, Elite earned this. I have been accustomed to the "official" Palo Alto Toyota dealership's high prices, and so looked around for an alternative to change a Prius headlight. I called around to several places, who all insisted that it was a multi-hour job. I had seen a youtube video with people changing their Prius headlight in under 5 mins. The people at Elite were friendly, not overly alarmed by the situation, and changed the bulb in under 10 mins while I waited comfortably across the street in Starbucks. Great experience... The malfunction indicator lamp light went on and off for several days, and I went to several mechanics to check what the problem was. None of them completely fixed the problem for me until I came to Elite Auto. I went there based on Yelp reviews I read. Then they replaced the fuel filter upon my request. The light went off for a day. Then it showed up again, and I went back to them. The shop owners were very nice, checking the problem again and then offered me several solutions. Due to the high price of the part I considered replacing and the unpredictable results even if I replaced it, the owner suggested to clean the "possibly faulty part" for me for free. They said if there is still any problem with it, I may go back, and we can figure something out together. Hooray!!! The light did not come back again!! This is the first time I have ever written a yelp review but Sonny, of Elite Performance, deserves the upmost praise!! First of all, he advised me over the phone to try and buy the part I needed online in order to save money (I ended up saving over $400 on the part alone!) and then he spent his own valuable time researching to make sure that I was getting the right part! (All of this was from the kindness of his heart because, at that point, I hadn't even brought the car to him to repair.). With customer service like this, how could I go anywhere else?!! I left my car at Elite Auto over the weekend convinced that I needed a new starter. Sonny worked on it for a half hour and called to tell me that he couldn't find a problem and so didn't want to start replacing parts. I was really convinced that I needed the part, but he patiently explained to me why the replacement might not solve my problem. I couldn't believe that I was trying to convince a mechanic to do work for me, but in the end he educated me enough that I understood his recommendation. Very simply the best experience I ever had when dealing with my car. I had a broken headlight on my Audi. They did not have the necessary parts but organized them within two hours! Then they stayed beyond their opening hours to ensure I got my light fixed that time. The eventual price was 33 % below what they had originally estimated. Went there on a Monday morning because there was a nut/bolt stuck to the tire of the car. The son immediately started helping us, jacked up the car and removed the nut/bolt and then informed us that it had not pierced the tire-- there was no patch or repair needed! I would not have known that the tire was fine; he was really friendly and explained that there was no hole. They did not charge for removing the nut/bolt, but now I know where I will bring my car next time there is a problem. The whole process took only about 10 minutes. read more

Working in relay, they tracked down an appropriate used part and got it delivered from the other end off the state. Sonny, one of the mechanics, was very personable and informative. He evaluated and diagnosed what was wrong with my car for no charge. He even showed and explained to me what was wrong with my car when it was up on the lift, which was a broken sway bar end link. Was a little bit wary about yelp reviews being so high. I was having issues with my car which couldn't be diagnosed fully by anyone. To rule out all possible causes i needed someone to do a thorough inspection of my cars exhaust. Sonny and his dad did an inspection and didn't charge me for their time. They weren't able to fully root cause the issue with my vehicle, but they gave me a high probability for a source of the problem which they wouldn't have been able to fix anyways. If only I could give more than 5 stars. My Honda died on me suddenly, and after finding Elite on Yelp, I called them in desperation. I spoke with Sonny, who was really helpful and said to bring my car over. He fitted me into his busy schedule and ran some diagnostics, tried to fix what was wrong, and then gave me the news about the sad state that my car was in. Even though he couldn't do the repair work, he offered suggestions about how to fix my car, insights into how it happened, and overall was a great source of information and helpful advice. If I lived closer to this place I would bring every car I had to him, and would trust everything he recommended. Needless to say, I am impressed with the integrity, price, and straightforwardness of Elite. I've seen my share of shady mechanics, and Sonny stands out as a really honest and sweet guy. What can I say! I brought my Toyota Corolla all the way from the other coast and it was showing sensor problems. Michael had already done the oil change for me [I was in a hurry] on a Saturday and had checked the codes for the sensor problems. He wouldn't change anything until he was sure what the car had!
