I called Aimee the day before our departure when we learned our time share resort was not providing luggage storage.

Hubs checked and TT opened for breakfast at 6:30 a.m. oooh yay!!! Then oh drats- the Rent A Car doors were locked and they did not open til 7 a.m. Bummer...my stomach was already signaling, feed me. Luckily the antics of the chickens and loud crowing of the rooster helped pass the time. 45 minutes later the door was opened. We were their first and only customers for a bit and the employee said they had no cars, they needed to be cleaned. Yikes!!! Then hubs was told they had a convertible- nope, he didn't want that one. The office was dirty with trash on the floor byvthe counter sign and the trash can was filled to the brim. I saw one man sweeping outside but wondered how come no attention to the inside. When we returned the car there was no one there at 2:45 pm to accept the car and keys. The same woman who checked us in looked like she was leaving work. I asked do we take the key inside? She said someone was supposed to be around. La dee dah... the employee who finally came was on Hawaiian time...sauntering so slowly to the desk... starting to stress, we're not going to make our flight. We waited a bit more for the shuttle to come around...the driver was nice, we both felt the rising heat of the day. Tip: just because the price is cheaper than the rest doesn't make it the best deal when everything is taken into account.

People seem to hate this place, but if you know what to do it's not that bad…read more Just say no to everything and you'll be fine. Seriously say no to everything and you'll walk out of here fine. Don't expect a brand new car either. If you temper your expectations then you're good.

Located in Kalapaki Beach in Kauai, the Marriott Kaua'i Beach club is the timeshare portion of a…read morelarge resort complex, originally built in 1995 on the former site of Westin Kauai (Kauai Surf Hotel before that). My family and my wife's parents had stayed at this hotel more than twenty years ago and really enjoyed it, so my wife and I took the opportunity in April 2026 to make a return visit, staying for 6 nights at 1,350 points for a Parlor room (basically a hotel room with a Murphy bed...max 2 people)...plus a mandatory daily Hawaiian 'Villa tax' of $15.22. We really enjoyed our visit to the 'Garden Isle'. Back then, the hotel portion of the complex was a high end Marriott hotel. In 2021, the owners rebranded it to become the Royal Sonesta, which created a bit of confusion for me. What's important is that they are two separate entities, but letting guests/owners share things like the pool, lounge chairs on the beach, and fitness center. However owners can not charge anything to their room, instead having to create a separate Sonesta account to do so. Two things that jumped out were that the two large surface self-parking lots (complementary for owners) are quite a distance from the lobby entrance. And the check-in lobby for the vacation club itself is on the beach side of this large complex. In between is a beautiful and very large garden, with a koi pond and various retail shops. There is a large sundry shop, selling essentials along with snacks and food for comparable prices to other stores nearby. There is a free shuttle to the nearby airport, though we didn't take it since we had a rental car. So it is possible to not use a rental car, since there are two shopping centers within walking distance, along with multiple restaurants on the resort grounds itself. We stayed in a parlor (studio-style) room, and it was fine for the two of us. The bathroom was actually small for a hotel, with the walk-in shower being good with OK shower pressure but not really hot water. There is a kitchenette (full size sink, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, full set of flatware, glasses, mugs, pitcher for water, colander, tupperware for leftovers, blender). Also an apartment-size refrigerator with a usable freezer that kept our ice cream frozen. There are gas grills outside, which I noticed were daily cleaned by housekeeping. The room had a queen murphy bed, with a OK mattress. When hidden, the space is used as a couch. We found it much easier just to keep it down throughout our stay, since we were able to find space to put away the couch cushions out of the way...though a survival key became a way to minimize the number of bad toe stubs on the corners. Housekeeping comes at the end of your stay, though a cleaning can be added at additional cost. Garbage can be thrown out in nearby bins in the hallways. Self-service laundry is separate from the units, and was not even in our tower, but in an adjoining one. There is a small cost associated with it. It had a nice TV with a lot of basic cable channels (HGTV!) along with 3 Showtime channels. It's an older room so electrical outlets were at a premium, but they had put power strips behind the bed so was able to connect my machines next to my side of the bed without need for an extension cord. The private lanai had seating for two and a great unobstructed view of the ocean and beach (worth the upgrade to an ocean view). It's one of the best parts of the unit. We saw the NCL Pride of America come into the nearby Nilliwilli cruise port and stay for 2 days (Thursday and Friday). Important to note since the area gets a lot busier when the cruise ship is in town. The fitness center was good. Cardio equipment was older but in good shape. Had plenty of towels, but only had one disinfecting wipe dispenser, which was sometimes out. Huge yoga room with mats and equipment. Had a filtered water dispenser. The rooms were not created as a fitness center, but still had decent ventilation. The owners lounge is nice, with free use of a foosball table and a working air hockey table. It had working outlets and air conditioning so hung out there in the afternoon after checkout since our flight was at night. In terms of resort activities, it's pretty limited during the shoulder-season when we came. Staff interaction was OK, though in the beginning, the pushing of timeshare presentations ("500 points if you sign up!") by the concierges were prevalent.

The pool is beautiful well kept and the beach is good not so much for snorkeling. They have many food options for different pallets but taste is just eh and priced how you would assume a hotel in Kauai would be priced. The animals there were very pretty lots of birds and chickens all around and would recommend if you go here go to the koi feeding at 10am. But with the pros their are always cons rooms are basic nothing special or interesting good storage space. Although my complaints would be the roaches you would assume a hotel in a place like this would have it handled and at-least set traps even if it does make the establishment look crappy. But if you don't want to see don't flying roaches crawling in your room at 3am DONT GO HERE!

It's light, fresh, but packed with soo much flavor that exploded in my mouth! I couldnt get enough of it!!! At first my friend and I were debating whether or not to add macadamia nut inside d/t the extra cost, but boy is it worth it! The oxtail soup was really good too. Especially how easily the meat fell off the bone and the flavor that warmed the heart and soul. By far my favorite food stop in Kauai. And I'd come back to visit just for their food! Service was efficient and fast and at the end they give u a receipt to which u then go up front to pay. Ambiance is like an old school dinner that's frequently packed with locals and guests 5 stars!!

Hubby and I were recommended by a local to try this place for their macadamia nut pancakes (which were good) and the oxtail soup (which we didn't try as we wanted breakfast)... Upon entering, no proper greeting just a yell from across the dining room from a lady pushing a cart "how many" and then proceeded to point to an empty table. Next, our server came around asking if we would like coffee..yes please! I had to track her down for some sweetener and when I asked for the sweetener she acted as if I was bothering her as she handed it to me. Mind you, I had just heard her tell a different lady who went up to to ask her for something as well to "go have a seat, I'll be right there" :/ I understand this is a busy restaurant but I do feel they need to work on their customer service! Hubby got an omelet that was very runny and ended up making him sick. I ordered the Macadamia nut pancake and it was good! I chose to leave 2 stars for the pancake alone! We will not be back to this restaurant. I think if they were more friendly and cook their omelets a bit more, this could have very well been a 5 star review.

Loco Moco and coffee. They asked how you want the eggs - I got mine sunny side up. This was a perfect breakfast dish.

Beef Stew - so delicious , especially the potatoes. It comes with rice and I think the Cup Beef Stew would've been enough.
