    Porchetta sandwich, $16
    Calder S.

I did a takeout order recently and it was pretty good. I got the Porchetta sandwich ($16) with roasted pork, salsa verde, fennel-apple slaw, spicy pepper crema. The sandwich was very tasty. The flavors are well balanced. The bread was nicely toasted. It was a little oily. I'm not sure where they get the "porchetta" name or "roast pork" description from, because the meat in the sandwich is some sort of thinly sliced deli meat and not what I expect from that name/description. That said, the image shown on the Toast menu did show what the sandwich actually looked liked -- with deli meat -- so I was sort of expecting this. I expected a larger sandwich, especially for the price. It was pretty small and flat. I used to get the Bar Boheme sandwiches (another Union Market stall, but sadly closed now) and they were a similar price and enormous. It would have been 5 stars if the sandwich was larger/better value and description was more accurate.

I've been dreaming about these focaccia sandwiches since I visited last week. I had a bite of my friend's Tartufo and really enjoyed it but the Italiano has been living rent-free in my head for days. Idk what's in the pepper sauce but I want to put it on everything. The bread is so perfectly soft and holds up despite the generous toppings. Highly recommend!

Love this focaccia sandwich spot at union market. Easy to order on the kiosk so you don't feel rushed. The sandwiches were so delicious and we were worried since we just came back from Rome that this may be a poor choice but we were pleasantly surprised. They tasted so similar the sandwich we just had in Italy the week prior - we just couldn't believe it.

Amazing sandwiches! I got the chicken parm and it is delicious. They don't skimp on the chicken and there was plenty of cheese and basil. Their focaccia is crisp and rich. I loved the paprika potato chips. I tried Stappi, a bitter Italian soda, and it was good. Staff is friendly. I'm excited to return.

Did not expect this beautiful- yet simply crafted caprese sandwich to be the standout sandwich that comes out of Union Market but it did! Bread was soft and pillowy, lemon aioli gives the sandwich a rich, yet bright mouth feel, tomato was meaty, and the baslamic drizzle reintroduces the tang necessary to complete a sandwich this rudimentary.

The focaccia sandwich was incredible. We tried the prosciutto and black truffle, and it was the perfect size with just the right amount of filling. I'd love to go back for the Caesar version, ideally with a chicken cutlet--since it's part of the All-Purpose group, and their Caesar salad is always excellent, I can only imagine this would be just as good. Located in Union Market, the sandwich was ready in just a few minutes, making it an easy and satisfying stop.

We tried the Capra and the mushroom sandwiches. I really liked the Capra (not the biggest mushroom fan) and the focaccia buns are a unique touch. I think the price is pretty steep for the size of the sandwich, so it's more of a weekend treat than a weekday meal. Service and ambiance are what you expect out of Union market: standard and overwhelming.

I tend to like sugar (too much) but try to drink black sometimes to try to appreciate the actual coffee flavor and for health reasons. Nice way to hydrate in a fancy way. Art work doesn't typically grab me but this art work did. If I had money, time, and comfortable accessibility to purchase, I would. I am sure I could order online and have shipped but I like to avoid shipping costs if I can. The realism and detail grab me in a way I like. The DC tunnel views that continue to beautify DC's respectable metro system show you that Jimmy is truly a local DC artist. It is reminiscent for me of Juniper Lane's music album cover Tightrope. I didn't notice this until after the fact but apparently when you buy art directly from here you get 15% of your purchase for more coffee here too. Wow. Why the missing star? This is kinda picky but if I wasn't looking or a foreigner, I could've accidentally added hand sanitizer to my coffee and well that's a big no no. Granted the bottle is labeled but I am not a fan of this being in the same area as the coffee add-ons. I know spacing is tight and maybe someone moved this bottle in this area but I don't get that sense and just think it's not a good setup. If this place wanted to expand , I think finding good NYC locations would be optimal as well. I am unsure if Philly would be good or not as an additional location as a coffee culture crowd. Of course I would still come back. It was worth the 15 min walk from the convention center in this hot August weather.

We were lucky enough to snag some goodies and got a bit of everything, we just weren't patient enough to wait to photograph everything. We did the Za'atar Gruyère Croissant, chocolate croissant, the cheese biscuit item they had (don't remember exact name) and the sfogliatelle. I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. My friend got a coffee and also enjoyed that! This is the perfect place to stop by for a treat if you make it in time!

Parillada was a hearty entree and probably best for 2-3 people. This amount of food altogether was just nice. We probably could have ordered one more thing to be extra full.
