This is not what you may remember as your Mom's or Grandmother's butcher shop. In my view they are a specialty shop providing premium quality at premium prices. The store is tucked in the corner of a small shopping center and parking can be a challenge on a Saturday. It is clean and bright. I am glad to see though, that there are still artisans with a commitment to quality, and craftsmanship in a trade--AI, thankfully, has no place here in delivering fresh, luxurious cuts of beef, pork and other fine meat either pre-cut or carved to your specifications. I have not been here before so I decided to give them a try starting with several, precut NY Strip steaks and several burger patties to prepare on the grill. The service is polite and professional--not a lot of time for chit-chatting with your butcher like I remember my Grandmother doing. There were several customers waiting in the small shop so I did not feel comfortable trying to dive into the particulars of the meat sourced so I just went with it. The steaks were fairly large cuts, just over one inch thick, and with what struck me as medium marbleization. The USDA grade was not posted on the price tags (that I saw). I decided to see if I could get away with a reverse sear on the steaks and it worked out pretty well though I kept the precook at a lower temperature than I normally would with a thicker cut for fear of over cooking them before I got them to the grill. That worked out well, getting them off the grill at medium doneness. The steaks were reasonably tender, juicy, with, as hoped, a luscious, beefy umami and enjoyed by my guests. I paired everything with a nice Côt which was just perfect. I decided to try the burgers on the griddle top, done to medium, and they were flavorful and juicy. I have to say I was satisfied with the quality and did not feel taken to the cleaners at almost $30 a pound for the steaks though I am not sure this will be a weekly stop (that price point was one of the lower ones in the shop). I will, however, come back for those times I am having special guests or family for those special occasions and will likely update then.

I like the smoked Polish sausage from here and the freshly sliced lunch meats and cheeses. They have custom butchered meats in the back and prices are reasonable. I won't buy fish from them anymore since getting instantly really ill on tuna steak. We called one day ahead to reserve our order, then day of we headed there for pickup. It's in a nice little strip mall area with plenty of parking. When we first walked in, I noticed it smelled a little like seafood, but like FRESH seafood. Some seafood shops can have a really strong fish smell but this smelled more like the sea than fishy. One thing to note is that it does not appear that they serve hot cooked-to-order food anymore. They no longer had that small kitchen/grill area out front. But they did have a ton of really awesome products! The owner was extremely helpful and grabbed our order from the back, showed us the lobsters, and then packed it up really nicely for us for the drive home, and to keep in the fridge for a few hours until dinner time. We also saw they had live mussels so we grabbed a bag of those too. I also picked up a Better Than Bullion in lobster base, I had never seen that in stores before! We also grabbed some hush puppies from their frozen section. The owner was super excited for us, for our first time cooking fresh lobster, hyped it up and him and the other lady employee were giving us some cooking tips! Everything turned out amazing,, the lobsters were delicious and every mussel was perfectly fresh. Just overall great place and great people!
