went here on Friday June 12th for a haircut and hi-light. I asked for bright blonde hi lights, I…read morehad a lot of growth from my last hi light. Maddy was the one doing my hair. She put brown/ashy caramel color in my hair. it looked awful. no blonde at all! Then the instructor said she would throw in a couple more foils. She didn't have time to blow dry my hair, so after getting home and my hair dryer, it looked worse, darker than before. I also asked for my hair to be cut in the back in kind of a V shape. Maddy cut it straight across and it looks botched and uneven. My appointment was at 12pm and I walked out of there at 6pm. I sat in that chair for almost 6 hours, I was falling asleep, I couldn't keep my eyes open. My legs also swelled up really bad from sitting in one spot for so long. I was charged $83!! I also still had blonde left in my hair from about the middle to the ends and she covered that up with whatever brown color she should not have been using. . I got no apologies for their mistake. Maddy also burned my head because the water was way too hot, I told her and she barely turned it down. I didn't want to keep complaining, but she still burned my head! I would like to get a hold of John and or Nancy Tirre, the owners. I want a total refund. I feel sick for paying that much money. I'm on disability and had been saving to get my hair done, only to have a very going through a complete nightmare! I will go to the Board of Cosmetology and report this school if I am not compensated! I took pictures of my hair as soon as I got home, you can still see my roots and there is NOT one strand of blonde like I asked for. I will be happy to show the after pictures to the Board if I have to. The instructor had an attitude towards me because I told her I didn't like my hair and that's not what I asked for!

I have been back many times since my last review, so I thought it only fair to update my review…read morebased on more recent experiences. I didn't go back for a long time, but I eventually decided to try it again, and I've had only good experiences since I did. Possibly they've taken complaints to heart and have made changes, because it is much better now. I go a couple of times a year to get low lights in my hair, and they always do a really good job. Of course, since your hair is being done by students, you really have to be patient. If you're having a chemical treatment done, they will likely be slower than a more experienced stylist would be, so go in expecting to be there for a while, and don't expect the turnaround time you'd get in a full salon. In addition to practicing their styling skills, they are also practicing being chatty with the customer while they're working. It's what you get in a full-service salon, so it's part of what they're learning. If you're the kind of person who just wants to relax in silence while you're hair is being done, you can probably tell them so at the beginning, but otherwise most of them will be chatting with you the whole time, because that's part of what stylists do. All in all, the service here has improved over the years, and you cannot beat the price. Important note: Tips are appreciated, just like in a salon, but you can only leave cash. If you charge the service with debit or credit, they don't have the ability to add the tip there at the register, so I always make sure I have cash with me.

Let me start out my saying I know this is a beauty school, so I'm not expecting superior results…read morecompared to going to a professional salon or spa. However, I will say that I would expect my services to look professional and neat. I purchased a Living Social deal that had a facial wax, mani, micro-derm and chemical peel. I was more excited about the chemical peel and micro-derm because that can be a pricey service in a salon. For me, the wax and mani was just an added bonus. I called 2 weeks in advance to schedule my appointment. I didn't get a confirmation for my appointment, and I almost forgot about it. My student was very nice. The wax was good, the mani was horrible. I have bubbles and dings all over my nails. I could have done a better job and I'm not the best nail painter. She took her time and tried to be neat, but I still walked away with polish all around my nails. My mani probably took about an hour to complete, which I understand there is a learning curve. The chemical peel and micro-derm were just okay compared to other times I've received the same type of services. I asked what the protocol was since this was a school and she said that someone would check her work. Of the 4 services I received no one checked her work. I feel bad leaving not the most positive review for a beauty school let alone a student, however my overall issue was the lack of attention and checking after the services once complete. Other than that, it was a nice environment, nice conversation.

As a student enrolled in the Esthetics program:…read more Crave focuses on students learning the Why's of Esthetics from skin, tools, diseases, etc. 4-weeks of in-class studying (book knowledge), daily tests (definitions, history) and 2-days of hands on learning the motions of client etiquette and the motions of what it's like to become an Esthetician. Also during the the 1st 4-weeks we were visited by: * A Dermalogica skin care representative. Crave/Pivot Point has a contract with Dermalogica (textbook, videos, skincare products, etc.). The representative gave us a 'Show-N-Tell' of Detmalogica (Who, What, Where, Why) company and products we'd be using at Crave. * We were also visited by a business owner who owns a Fantastic Sam's hair salon franchise owner who spoke to us about the many facets and careers in the beauty industry. * We were visited by The European Wax Center who also gave us an intimate look into their company, a 'Show-N-Tell' about waxing, types of wax and how important it is to choose the right type of wax for various waxing procedures. We received a Crave apron, our name tag, a Crave water bottle, our student Esthetician professional license so we can purchase equipment, product and tools for training and upon our 4th week our student insurance certificates. I am pleased with the learning phase. I also learned that Crave Beauty Academy teaches each student Esthetician the very basics of becoming a professional Esthetician but does not have the latest equipment for each student to perform the latest skincare method. Everything is done via hands-on using a facial steamer & magnifying lamp. We are told, we can ask for some equipment if the instructor seems it necessary to use on a client. But they only have 1 electric mask, 1 infared machine, 1 this and that..not enough for each student to learn during the 'on-the-floor' hands-on client training phase. The student Esthetician will receive professional products to keep for themselves and for client use (in their kit), which you'll receive 8-weeks into the program: *Crave jacket (it's chilly in the building) *Crave Smock/for use when working with client *waxing kit *Makeup & makeup tools *Skincare products *Eyelash kit *Etc. Check out the vids and pics of the school and I hope you choose the school you'll want to visit! I'll see if I can post videos on Google reviews.

FINALLY! They got a new instructor & she's fantastic! They better hold on & get more like her (Ms…read more jones)!! She was the reason my experience was great! The students can only fo do much on their own...hey, they're students! & usually the instructors just come by to sign off on the color so the student can start & never come back to watch what they do or make suggestions. Ms. Jones helped choose my color ( it came out to be beautiful!) gave a demonstration & pointers at blow out, helping me with my own hair & certainly the student. She also brought over several products she thought would be good for my hair type, showed how they should be used & wrote them down for me Incase I liked the results I wouldn't forget what They were. For the first time leaving there I look forward to going back....IF there are instructors like her around paying attention
