I visited Elite Nails in Herndon three times, and while my nail technician was very kind, my overall experience was disappointing. After my first manicure with her, a product she used seemed to severely damage my natural nails. At my next appointment, I mentioned my concerns and asked that she avoid using it or not leave it on as long. She recommended another gel manicure, but it started chipping within just a couple of days--far sooner than a gel manicure should. Unfortunately, I had surgery three days after my manicure, so I couldn't contact the salon until about a week later. Rather than simply asking me to come in, I was asked to send photos and initially told I had to see the same technician, even after I explained I wasn't comfortable doing so. They eventually spoke to the 'owner' and called me back to let me know I could have them redone at no charge. I felt like I had to convince them there was actually a problem instead of them standing behind their work. Even more disappointing is the lasting damage to my natural nails. They are now paper-thin and splitting (after 3 manicures with the salon), which had never been an issue before. I've since found another salon who, not only had a hard time removing the remaining product that was still on the nails, but is now restoring the health of my overall nails. Elite Nails should pay closer attention to the products and techniques being used, stand behind the quality of their services, and make it easier for customers when something goes wrong. Disappointing Experience with Management Despite Loyal Patronage As a licensed esthetician with over seven years of experience in the beauty and wellness industry, I have always valued professionalism, collaboration, and mutual respect between practitioners. I had been a regular client at Elite Nails since the most recent change in ownership, consistently receiving excellent service from Heidi, whose work is truly exceptional. I supported the business consistently and even referred my partner for services. Unfortunately, my experience came to an abrupt end when I received a call from the owner, Bob, accusing me of soliciting clients and informing me I was no longer welcome at the salon. The accusation was both unfounded and handled with an alarming lack of professionalism. For context: I am in the process of opening my own skincare and lash studio, located over 11 miles away in a different market. During casual conversation with a technician (not a client), I was asked about my business, congratulated, and even invited to leave a card. At no time did I engage with other clients or promote my business inappropriately. The situation could have -- and should have -- been handled differently. No one reached out to clarify or confirm details. No questions were asked. The decision to remove a long-standing, paying client was based purely on assumption, not evidence or dialogue. If a business leader is confident in their services and team, there should be no concern over a respectful client sharing her professional journey when asked. This incident reflects more on the insecurity of the leadership than anything I did or said. It's unfortunate, especially because I hold great respect for service providers working hard in this industry. While I won't be returning, I sincerely hope the team at Elite is treated with more understanding and fairness than I was. I had great experiences with Rico (no longer there) and then Sisi (no longer there) for many months. Today I had the misfortune of coming in contact with Santa. She drilled my nails to near nothing. I asked to soak, as I have before, but the damage was already done. Paper-thin, and painful. Never again. I told Santa at least twice that she was hurting me, and she mumbled something about the drill being hot. No, it's gone too deep. I started to come here because my nail tech Heidi moved over here. I love the atmosphere of the whole place it is clean and well organized. I always love my nails when they are done by Heidi but all the techs here are talented. I followed Heidi because she is kind and caring as well as talented. Service overall was very friendly and helpful. The nail lady I was assigned to was very sweet and very helpful. I love my nail set that she did for me and would highly recommend her. If you are looking for a good nail tech who is excellent at nail design, I highly recommend Hannah. I have done gel,and acrylic in the past with other nail places when I lived in the west coast where its very dry. Hannah saw my nails' condition and recommended me to get gelX. I just recently moved and was looking for a good nail place and I heard about going to a nail place outside of DC area since in DC there aren't really a lot of good nail places to go. My nails are so good and the cuticles are not dry anymore. Plus I love the free-hand flower she did for me. You can tell she put love into her work. read more

I'm obsessed! Hannah has been doing my nails for some time now and I've always left happier than when I went in, except for a couple of weeks ago. I had discoloration under my acrylics so Hannah suggested removal and to let my natural nails rest for a couple of weeks. I agreed and was sad to say goodbye to my nails, even temporarily. I missed them before they were even all the way off. Cut to 11 days later: my thumb nail was splitting down past the quick and was snagging on everything. I called in desperation trying to get in without having to wait 4 more days (already had an appointment booked for a full gel-x set). Hannah was able to get me in almost immediately. I sit down in shame because I had broken all of my natural nails and picked at the skin surrounding them and my hands were in terrible shape. Hannah went to work immediately and did the full gel-x set as we had scheduled for a few days later. As soon as the first nail went back on I instantly fell in love with the gel-x. It's supposed to be easier on the natural nail and a little more forgiving than acrylic. An hour later and I was a very happy person with long beautiful nails again! I will trust no one else but Hannah with my nails and nail health. Her designs are always top tier. She painstakingly hand paints all of her unique designs and I've learned to just let her do what she wants to do. If I have something specific I want I show her a picture and she runs with it. She is by far the best technician I've ever had in the 30+ years I've been getting nails. I won't go anywhere else, except maybe VIP when Hannah is there. read more

This place is terrible. I walked in to get service and they chose not to greet me but preceded to greet other guests. The person at the front desk was Bob and they only have two technicians. Shame as this is under new management. ---- Since the owner decided to add timestamps from his video camera to his feedback, I think it is important I add a few more details. The entrance door of the shop is literally 6-8 feet from the cash register where the owner Bob was standing helping a customer with a payment. I walked in and literally stood 2-3 feet from him while I patiently waited for him to finish his customer's transaction. He did not acknowledge my existence. A few moments later, another customer enters the shop behind me and he immediately warmly acknowledges that customer and let them know he will be right with them. I'm still standing 2-3 feet from him and still no acknowledgment. After a few moments, in frustration, I leave the shop and Bob still did not look in my direction or ask if I needed help. In about a minute, I decided to return to let Bob how I felt. I would advise the shop to review its "proven" procedures and acknowledge ALL clients as they enter with or without an appointment. I hope the owner was not suggesting it is okay to acknowledge clients with appointments and not acknowledge those that don't. I wasn't asking him to stop what he was doing but a courtesy "hello, and I'll be right with you would have suffice." It is hard for me to understand how hard it is to acknowledge a customer standing 2-3 feet from you at the register. If that much was going on, I find it hard to believe you had time to acknowledge another customer who walked from behind me. Nevertheless, I've made peace with what happened. I accepted your initial apology on Yelp and moved on. Adding timestamps in a subsequent edit came across as petty to me as I think you were trying to prove a point. In your heart, I think you know you were wrong and you've said as much. Let's just leave it there. read more
