I woke up one night to the sound of something thrashing in our attic (which is right over my bed). Convinced it was a mouse, I woke my DH (Darling Husband) and we sat there listening for it to stop. Once the same came up he found critter stuck to a glue trap left by our pest control. Upon further inspection, it was decided that flying squirrel had come into our builders gap. Because of the amount of trees around the property our attic was currently being used as a pathway, den and gathering place for the squirrels. My skeptical DH does not like anyone else working in his home, but this was outside his scope. I found Cristian on Yelp; although he had few reviews, his website was very informative and his demeanor was very professional. We left a message and he called us back at the end of the day. He was puntual, professional, communicated and answered all the questions he was asked. He went above and beyond the job. He not only perform the exclusion job we hired him for, he cleaned our gutters, changed the lightbulbs in the flood lights and covered all the vents for us. We asked him to put a small screen on a bathroom window we could not reach and he was so kind to do that for us as well. It's a shame that 5 stars is all we could give him, he certainly deserves more.

Things started out well, but have ended horribly. We hired Christian based on a referral and he was…read moreable to come out to address our pest issue quickly. He recommended sealing the roof, showed the material he would use, and said he would disinfect the attic as well as pick up the traps when everything was done in a few weeks. While he was sealing a space around our AC unit, he accidentally punctured the AC pipe! We then had to find an AC tech to come out immediately. He was very picky about who we selected because of the price he would have to pay for fixing the issue, and he did pay for the repair by removing that cost from his service. After the roof was sealed, he told us he placed the traps and told us to check them every few days to see if anything was caught. Once we confirmed there was nothing he said he would come out and disinfect the attic and remove the traps, as apart of his service. After a few weeks we did not see any new activity and called him to come pick up the traps as well as disinfect, as promised. He refused to come unless we paid him to do it, but it was initially included in the price we already paid him. We sucked it up because we didn't want to pay more but we're upset that we would still have to deal with pest feces in our attic space. Now, 2 years later, we have new activity, which was confirmed by another company. They took pictures of the shoddy work that was done and showed where he left some gaps in the roof. The metal he used to seal is also much smaller than what this company was suggesting. I am beyond upset! Finally, when I messaged him about this, he immediately got defensive and said the other company was lying And his work is great! All in all, the proof is in the fact that the pests are back, there are gaps in our roof, and he never came back to finish the initial job that he promised to do, even considering the extra damage and inconvenience he did to our home via the hole in our AC unit. Do not hire him, this is bad business.

My previous servicer performed well initially, but six years of quarterly services later, they could never get a good handle on the pest problem. (See my review of my old Servicer and how I think they contributed to the problem.) VHP's pricing was very reasonable and after speaking with the owner, I was hopeful. Well they identified the problem area after the first visit!! For years, I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong because I was consistent with my pest services and obsessive about cleaning. Did you know that bugs can enter through your attic?! I didn't, but thank goodness that VHP did. After the follow up visit, I no longer had to worry about I'd see when I turned on the lights in the middle of the night. Those of you reading this, and have pest issues, understand the overwhelming sense of peace that comes with no longer worrying about randomly seeing a bug scurrying across the wall or floor. The five stars should tell you that this service works! After a snake found its way into my home, I also used VP to clean my gutters and identify areas that needed blocking to prevent additional 'guests' from entering my home. Now, the open areas around pipes and the gutters are closed and (hopefully) no entry points remain. This is a long post to say USE THIS PROVIDER!!! I have made sure that VHP was added to my HOA vendor list so my neighbors can have the same sense of peace that I do.

Two hot summer months later, I can tell you he's right...I've seen barely a 'skeeter so there was indeed no need for chemicals to ward them off. Whew!!! What a relief because those things love my sweet and tasty self. We discussed termite prevention and he educated me about why, if I'm going to spend on a treatment, I'll want a moisture barrier in my crawlspace to support that effort. He pointed out the challenges and perils of the fact that my previous owner left a tree stump in the crawlspace rather than remove it before constructing an addition. (Surprise surprise!) There was no pressure in buying from him during our time together; he truly was there to educate me as a new homeowner and new to the area, on his professional assessment of my needs. We spent adequate time discussing and there was no rush; he answered all my questions and offered some solid advice (such as keeping a bug journal of what I see, when and where, to discuss with him during regular quarterly visits) that would build a foundation for our work together in caring for my home. Based on the date of the last big treatment of my (wood construction, wood siding) residence, we agreed it would be best to do a large initial preventive treatment with a 5-year lifespan. His cost was several hundred dollars less than the 'big box' companies and, as a family-owned operation, I knew I was getting the benefit of not just Chris's knowledge but also one generation above if he bounced things off his Dad (which...who doesn't ask Dad for advice if they love and respect their Dad? Also a good sign of a stand-up guy!) Chris was fast, responsive, and made it easy for me to hire and pay him. He is good at communicating by phone or email or text and accepts all forms of payment, including cash, checks and PayPal as payment methods, for those of us who like the more modern electronic methods. I get real peace of mind knowing that I have an ethical, hard-working business owner who cares about his personal reputation in the local community, on my side in helping me care for my new home.
