Elite is probably the most radical choice for your childrens' SAT/ACT needs, but if you're not willing to pay the thousands of dollars for tuition and your child will be unable to handle nearly 5 hours of work, you'll have to think twice. Elite is known to be a extreme form of a cram school similar to that of those in Asia, to instruct children to prepare for the SAT/ACT. It's a common thing everyday to walk into this place, you'll see portraits of very few kids smiling with a list of them getting incredibly high scores, in which also show which school they are attending now, and slogans for success and information about ivy league schools. I get it, this is to show that they've had success educating kids and they're mighty fine proud of that, but let's be honest, it is a little demeaning for other students struggling to make ends meet. In fact, I've overheard a parent teacher conference with the headmaster of this place (I will not say the name for confidentiality), and believe me, I've never heard so much bad mouthing about the student behind his back, such as how he/she is going to fail school and is never going to go to a "good" (which in their level is a Ivy League) school and he'll end up getting a job after high school. In addition, when I had my child go here, the workload was just unbelievable; I don't know whose idea it was, but he/she practically made my child work 5-6 hours on SAT prep material instead of the same school work that takes my child to college (also, if he failed to bring it, he would be subjected to detention/push ups/"demerits"). What is really disturbing is that there are also video cameras in each room and monitored by the staff; I don't care if it there was a stabbing long time ago, it's pretty invasive. Speaking of colleges, these people also look down on students who have no intentions of attending either UC or Ivy Leagues, regardless of the reason. With all due respect, what I really think these people can try to improve on is their perception on reality and realize these students are just kids who are/aren't suited for the tremendous work load provided; does stuffing millions of questions and answers really help? Because I guarantee not every kid they see holds the 300 IQ they are dreaming about. Despite my tone, don't boycott or spit at the headmaster, because even I know these people are trying very hard to trickle one child to get into yale and princeton and it's really difficult to handle a bunch of kids (for the record, I was a tutor for a after school program and THAT was no easy job), especially for the headmaster, who has to deal with few troublemakers; but they should at least give a damn about those who won't make it to the big leagues or have troubles instead of berating them and casting them on the side so the vultures can pick them. Bottom line? Parents, send your children here if you truly fear that your children may not become the next CEO, doctor, lawyer, etc., because this place is the 911 for that emergency; I will not lie that these people will literally work their fingers to the bone to stuff gargantuan amounts of assignments to show to you they really mean business, and that they are probably even better than any SAT/ACT prep schools. However, be cautious, because if you know your child is already struggling with the workload he/she has from school, then plan on your own discretion. read more

I couldn't agree more with the previous post. They are a big company so they use marketing tools and money to attract customers. What they should do is spend on more qualified teachers. Instead of handing out work, they should have knowledgeable teachers who can pass on third knowledge instead of just having them grade papers. Try smaller academies in the area instead. There are more places who care about the students, not making money off of them. read more

With any educational institute, students must be willing to learn and improve on themselves. So yes, Elite assigns homework and requires students to study for tests. This is the exact discipline that students require to focus. Elite is very effective only if students are willing to follow what is required of them. Aside from Elite as a whole, Amy the director is what truly makes this Fullerton branch a strong one. She is dedicated to her work and students and goes above and beyond to address the students' needs. She is clearly knowledgeable in this field and very good at her job. Though intimidating by first impression, she is very sweet and helpful. She truly does have the best interests of her students in mind and gives sound counseling based on each student's needs. I have attended both the Cerritos and Fullerton Elite and i can say from personal experience that the fullerton elite has a personal touch and a strong goal of providing a good education for each of its students. read more

Big waste of time and money. We spent over $1000 and considerable time to help our daughter improve her test scores and it did absolutely nothing. They make you believe to have some sort of relevant information with respect to local schools and which classes and teachers to take. Yet, when we inquired about test dates for the ACT, there was no mentioning of earlier available dates that our daughter could have benefitted from. Moreover, they don't try to make their classes interesting to their students. Everything is a drill. We found a smaller place that is much more flexible, that has one on one tutoring at a lesser cost, and is presenting the material in a fun way to their students. read more

Elite of Fullerton doesn't seem to have the best reputation around on the Internet, particularly on Yelp, but as someone who has attended this institute for roughly 3 years, I beg to differ. Yes, it may seem like a corporate owned tutoring academy where they use marketing tools and money to attract customers. But the truth of the matter is, it isn't just a ploy. It actually genuinely works in raising students' scores. It doesn't happen magically-- paying the tuition, attending the classes all day, and spending hours on homework and vocabulary words isn't what gets your score to improve. It's the work ethic the student has to put in, practicing the techniques Elite's curriculum and staff teach that makes the difference. The most important, rewarding characteristic of Elite of Fullerton, however, would have to be the people there, whether it be the front desk secretaries, teachers, fellow classmates, or the director. Every secretary works incredibly hard to produce score reports and print curriculum. Every teacher puts in countless hours to prepare and teach the material, and he or she is always willing to stay after the class ends to offer any additional help. These teachers even end up becoming mentors to students long after the SAT boot camps end! Every classmate in honest terms, "struggles" together. However, this creates a bond that everyone who has attended Elite understands, and produces lasting friendships. Even students who travel across the country just for a summer program end up making friends they remain close to even after they leave Fullerton! Lastly, the director cares for the students as if they were her own children. She genuinely wants them to succeed and would do anything to facilitate this. Overall, don't let what others speak of Elite of Fullerton online scare you away. It's something you have to experience on your own in order to reap the benefits of giving up your summer to take class. It'll be worth it when you get into your dream college-- trust me! read more

sitting through 4 and a half hours of intolerably boring lectures did not help me improve my score. the SAT teachers are not qualified to teach and are not very good at explaining. i would recommend others not to enroll. read more
