They appeared to be working harder and faster than any other roofing crew I had seen, and they got the job done in 3 or 4 days instead of the typical 5. When I got a letter from my home insurance company stating that they would cancel me if I didn't get a new roof (the same thing has happened to most of my neighbors, I suspect), I called Alex Perez Roofing, plus two other companies for comparison. Alex himself came out, and he spent a long time talking to me and my partner about the job. He answered all of our questions. He didn't have a slick sales presentation like the other two roofing companies that we called. As a former roofer himself, he was more focused on explaining the dynamics and the work of the job, rather than trying to get us to agree to a a top-tier "premium roof package." Unsurprisingly, his bid came in lower than the other two companies I called. In an apples-to-apples comparison (50 year warranty, special venting at the top of the roof line) his company had the best value. His guys showed up on time, worked hard, were very polite, and left the job site clean. On the office side, Alex's staff kept me well-appraised on where we were in the process, and when invoices were due. When additional dry rot was discovered after the roof was pulled off, his office staff emailed me a comprehensive report and photos, and they had a lengthy phone conversation with me about it at my request, ensuring that all of my questions were answered. Alex also dropped by the job site regularly to check on things. The whole crew struck me as honest, regular working people just trying to get the job done, never trying to upsell me on any special packages, warranties, or guarantees. My complaint centers primarily around the complete ineptitude in completing the final inspection, which took around 9 months from the actual install. The inspection failed 4 times. Was it because the inspector kept finding new issues? No - it's simply because the issues pointed out by the inspector were not resolved by the time the next inspection happens. The pattern went like this: - Inspector clearly communicates what needs to be fixed - Solar Savings Direct send out a contractor 30 minutes before the next inspection and doesn't resolve the issue (and in some cases was unaware of the scope of work needed to be completed) - Inspector then fails the inspection again. Rinse & repeat I called the city and talked to the inspector myself. Very reasonable guy. Was very clear about what needed to be done and was not asking for anything unreasonable. I eventually had to drag in the CEO of Solar Direct to get the issue resolved. Additionally, all of the INDIVDUALS from Solar Savings Direct were reasonable to work with on a personal level. Support team, techs - all great individually, no complaints. But the core issue is that the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing, and the result is that a simple process drags out months and wastes countless hours of your time. The people on the ground are great. The inspection operations/management staff should be fired for incompetence. I have to give Solar Savings Direct / Mars Home Solutions 1 star because a routine inspection should not take 9 months, and all of the failures to pass the inspection were completely self inflicted due to management incompetence.

DO NOT use this company…read more It has been a hazing and saga from the start. The ineptitude and lack of accountability I have experienced is unparalleled to any company I have dealt with. The errors have ranged from ridiculously basic to downright hazardous; only discovered when I was forced spend thousands of dollars on outside electrical inspections. I have been waiting for reimbursement for 5 months now. Initially, it took four months and 5 visits to get the system off the ground due to a failed inspection, disconnected batteries, upside down sensors, lack of proper grounding . A year after the ridiculous installation problems, I began to experience a vibration throughout my home that would shock my very being throughout the day and night, even through my mattress, directly into my ear. It has cost me sleep, sanity and shattered the peace in my own home. The owner, even after all the missteps and mistakes, kept saying it was my ear. I had to hire two electricians for electrical inspections for a total of 2000 dollars because Solar Savings didn't have the will or the skill to identify the problem. The first electrician found grounding problems. The second found that they had incorrectly wired a gas generator into the solar system, which was back feeding for over a year. This could have very well damaged my system because the vibration continues and the assistance and reimbursement promised is nonexistent despite phone calls and emails and assurances from the company. This system cost me over 32k on a loan and now an additional 2k for the pleasure. I have had to fight my way to getting any assistance after being gaslit, stonewalled or just plain dropped for months at a time. Oh yeah, I was sexually harassed by one of the managers that did the completely messed up installation. Think he was too busy thinking about that instead of grounding rods, batteries and backfeeding. Even after my complaint to the company, they kept suggesting that he be the one to come back and look at my system! Dealing with this company has become a second job and they have treated me, despite the never ending visits, evidence of their incompetence and the money I paid, like a nuisance. This is not a good company. Don't do it.
