DO NOT use this company. It has been a hazing and saga from the start. The ineptitude and lack of accountability I have experienced is unparalleled to any company I have dealt with. The errors have ranged from ridiculously basic to downright hazardous; only discovered when I was forced spend thousands of dollars on outside electrical inspections. I have been waiting for reimbursement for 5 months now. Initially, it took four months and 5 visits to get the system off the ground due to a failed inspection, disconnected batteries, upside down sensors, lack of proper grounding . A year after the ridiculous installation problems, I began to experience a vibration throughout my home that would shock my very being throughout the day and night, even through my mattress, directly into my ear. It has cost me sleep, sanity and shattered the peace in my own home. The owner, even after all the missteps and mistakes, kept saying it was my ear. I had to hire two electricians for electrical inspections for a total of 2000 dollars because Solar Savings didn't have the will or the skill to identify the problem. The first electrician found grounding problems. The second found that they had incorrectly wired a gas generator into the solar system, which was back feeding for over a year. This could have very well damaged my system because the vibration continues and the assistance and reimbursement promised is nonexistent despite phone calls and emails and assurances from the company. This system cost me over 32k on a loan and now an additional 2k for the pleasure. I have had to fight my way to getting any assistance after being gaslit, stonewalled or just plain dropped for months at a time. Oh yeah, I was sexually harassed by one of the managers that did the completely messed up installation. Think he was too busy thinking about that instead of grounding rods, batteries and backfeeding. Even after my complaint to the company, they kept suggesting that he be the one to come back and look at my system! Dealing with this company has become a second job and they have treated me, despite the never ending visits, evidence of their incompetence and the money I paid, like a nuisance. I needed extra Solar panels and that's why I contacted Home Pro Solutions (they are partners with this company). Everything was installed quickly because I called the office 2X a week to make sure my project was moving along properly. If I didn't call, I wouldn't have Solar as of today. The communication is lacking in a big way, the excuses as to why things aren't moving along are many, and to have failed the final inspection 2X is very frustrating. Why isn't someone reviewing the plans and making sure everything is going to pass? It's been over 2 months since my install and I've yet to have my final inspection complete due to it not passing. O yea, and if I don't call or email, I would wait even longer. Don't take the NEM3 crisis as an excuse. I think more employees are needed or less projects should be accepted. Here we are 9 months later and the system is still not live. Challenges we have faced Expect a 3-5 day delay in email replies Don't expect people to call back or answer your first call Unprepared installers - on more than one occasion they showed up with the wrong material Every part of the job has been subbed out to another company and there is no sense of ownership Poor communication - never followed up with contracts needing to be signed Did not process paperwork with PGE. Once project was completed and I was ready to turn it on, I now have to start a 30-60 day process with PGE Installers did left trash by my power mains and I found 2 redbull cans and trash on my roof They removed the clay tiles after I has asked several times and threw them down onto the ground leaving a big mess Don't expect any level of professionalism, help, or project management from them. You will have to project manage this the entire way if you choose to work with them. DO Not use this company! The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. They kiss your ass and make empty promises of better service, only to repeatedly drop the ball. They make excuse after excuse after excuse, but nothing changes, emails aren't responded to, and there is no follow up. We have been dealing with them now for nearly a year, trying to get our job completed. We have paid over $40k to them and unfortunately have paid in full for this job and we still are not fully hooked up. This has been one of the most aggravating experiences with a business that I've ever had. With so many solar companies to choose from I regret choosing Solar Savings Direct. And now I'm stuck with them for the life of our system! The one good thing I have to say about them is that the guys who have come out; the workmen and technicians are great. The service from beginning to end was amazing! From the first meeting to the installation and even the follow-up months later, it was unexpected and much appreciated. I also have to mention that the installation folks, which are usually a get-in and get-out type as I have seen with so many other companies were on time, announced when they were coming, and kept us up to date on what was happening. There was also the dedication and care to the property and the neighbor's yard. I have seen other installers use ugly pipes that are placed around the property that are terrible and an eyesore. These folks did it right, looked for the best way around, and used the house's existing solar paths to make the install look clean. I swear if you do not see the panels on the house, you wouldn't know we had solar. I hate the metal pipes on the neighbor's houses that make the property look so unappealing. For sure thought I already wrote a review for these guys, as they are AWESOME. I came to update my review and, to my surprise and disappointment, I hadn't written one yet. WHAT?! My husband and I did A LOT of research on solar options for our home before committing to anything. We contemplated leasing and came to a fairly quick realization that doing so would not be beneficial for a myriad of reasons. Most importantly, it didn't make sense financially and there were a lot of risks (leasing solar is shady business, in my opinion). Buying solar can also be expensive and initially didn't seem very feasible... Then we came across Solar Savings Direct. We primarily worked with Grant but the entire team is wonderful. They're very knowledgeable, genuinely friendly and honest. They talked through all the details and were incredibly patient with us, as we tend to ask a lot of questions. They ensured we were getting the right amount of panels to meet our needs and what I really loved was the financing options through the bank they partner with. They were much more flexible than any others we had come across. This allowed us to keep our payment low and really see the return on investment. We pay less now on the solar loan than what our monthly bill used to be with PGE. Last year we saved over $500. That plus the added value to our home. They were also quick on the install process without sacrificing quality of work. It came with a smart EV charger, which we now use for our PHEV vehicle, and a nifty app to track our production. We can even check the individual panel layout on our phone to see what each panel is producing - an easy way to quickly spot issues and identify the specific panel. Of course, to date we have had no problems. Now to the update I was going to make today... These guys are life savers! Power goes out at the house and they provide a generator free of charge to hold us over until it's restored. Not only that but they respond quickly and bring the generator to you! I couldn't rave about these guys any more. If you're gonna do it, go with Solar Savings Direct. If you're not sure, at least talk to them about it. You won't regret it. read more

Everything up to the install was great. Once the install was done, there was absolutely no follow-up by Solar Direct. None. Even the installers informed me that a representative from Solar would contact me to follow-up on the install, provide access to the app, inform me of the next steps (provision from PG&E), and even (to my surprise) that they would paint the conduit (even though I was not expecting that). During the city inspection, there was a 3rd party representative present; but they were not able to answer any of my questions and informed me someone from Solar would be contacting me. I just don't get it why these guys get voted #1 in EDH village life's poll. First of all - they kept asking questions one at at time - e.g. metal / non-metal roof, roof pitch (even when plan was provided), direction of ridge line (which was on the plan), and then if it will be a cash payment etc. But I kept my patience and provided all the data. Then I was told that if I generated surplus electricity, under NEM2.0 it was around 30cents - ignoring the difference between net metering and true surplus. But anyways - we go through all that and finally have a contract. And even though I kept asking if they will come and install the conduit for the electricity while my wall was open, my representative kept waffling on the thing. Then finally I said - can he confirm that they can install the wiring over the next two weeks when I needed it, and then the vagueness all came to an end and the answer was NO. So why did we have to go through all the dancing around the question - if I need something and they can't do it, game over - but don't ask to sign the contract without understanding what the customer is asking for. Just as a data point - went with somebody else. They were fast - gave me a design in a few days, knew where to put the panels on the roof and as a technical person myself, I researched his proposal and looked good. They got the conduits installed and they got the PGE application done and easily beat the NEM3 deadline. On the whole, dealing with these guys was a complete waste of time. read more

The quality of the equipment is outstanding. Each panel has a monitoring device so you know how every panel is functioning. Some other companies take a different low-cost approach with only one monitoring device for all panels. Don't ever buy such a system. Also Solar Savings Direct arranged great financing for the purchase of the system through a credit union and the system will be paid for in 15 years for a system with a 25-year warranty. The initial process was great and communication was spot on, that I had given out their number to co-workers and colleagues just because everything went so smoothly. Then installation from Solar Savings Direct did not have all the panels so we had to schedule for another day. This is where my 5 stars experience went down to 2 stars. The person at Solar Savings Direct office gave me attitude and didn't understand why I was upset that they didn't know what time the installers was coming.
