I took my daughter's car here to be looked at and was told the repairs would cost more than the car was worth. We had just purchased new tires, but I went against my gut and did not take it somewhere else for a second opinion. I ended up selling the car to the owner for $300 and gave him the title. About a month ago, I started receiving calls from someone saying I was still listed as the owner and that the car had been impounded. It turned into a whole situation. The person who had the car was an elderly gentleman who said he had bought it from them, but he had no proper paperwork and did not seem to fully understand what had happened. My name was somehow still on the title even though I had thought I had signed it over. I had to go speak with the police an hour away from my homr and help this man get the car out of impound because it was his only means of transportation and he is elderly. Meanwhile, I left repeated messages for the owner of Forest Park and never received a call back. No explanation. No help. No accountability. This was extremely frustrating and, honestly, upsetting. Based on my experience, I do not find this business to be honest or honorable. I strongly recommend steering clear and taking your vehicle somewhere else. read more

Brought my car in because it was making a funny noise. I expected it to be an expensive repair and my sister recommended Forest Automotive. I got a call about an hour later to come and pick up the car, it was finished. I asked what I owed, and they said nothing, it was a simple repair, just a couple of adjustments to the heat shield. My sons truck broke down on Thanksgiving evening of all days! (2001 Chevy Silverado with over 200.000 miles) Got a tow truck to take it to Forest Automotive. The owner (Scott) called me after the holiday to tell me he wants to do a thorough inspection of the vehicle because of the distance between the shop and my home. (We live in Plainfield) After a few days and many hours of investigation he determined that it might have been something to do with a crankshaft sensor relearn (a parts cannon D.I.Y. project that I failed to do) We picked up the truck yesterday and made the 33 mile trip home with no issues. I highly recommend Forest Automotive because in this day and age not many shops take the time to make sure their work is completed to the best of their ability!! I've been taking my cars to Forest Automotive for years and always had a great experience. Scottie's always been straight forward and never try tried to me sell work I didn't need. I brought our Saturn in for a second opinion after going to Suburban auto because the check engin light was on. They claimed it needed a new fuel pump, and wanted to charge close to $1000. I brought it to Forest and they diagnosed it as a evap purge valve. Cost $750 and there was nothing wrong with the fuel pump. Saved me over a $1000. If I'd stayed at Suburban and hadn't brought it to Forest I would have been out the $1000 and still needed a purge vaulve. I have going to Forest Automotive since I was driving a Pinto (I know, who owns a Pinto!). They have never let me down. They also worked on my old Escort and now they work in my KIA Sportage. Their work is good; their prices are very fair. I have had all kinds of work done there and all top notch. In fact, last year when I needed new SUV tires they asked me to give them a chance at pricing out a set. Well, I have to say that the tires they put on my SUV are the best tires I ever had on it. Their price was very competitive compared to all the discount places. If you live in town, they will even drive you either to the CTA station or back home or pick you up at home when your car is finished. They have also worked on my husband's truck (and he is very picky). We are fortunate to have an honest repair shop in our village! read more

STAY AWAY! The morbidly obese cross-eyed guy working the counter is a total jerk. Walked in asking about putting on brake pads and the guy instantly tries to railroad me. He thinks everyone is as dumb as he is - I tell him I just want him to put pads on and he tries to tell me I need rotors. Wonderful customer service and fair prices! When I started looking for repair shops to fix my car, I simply did a Google search for "auto repair shops near me". The search came back with several different shops, so I started doing some research and decided to go with Forest Automotive and I'm so glad I did!! From the 1st phone call, Scott was very helpful and professional. He sent a tow truck right away and notified me of the problem the following morning. I have a few friends who work in auto repair (out of the area), so I called them both and gave them the quote Scott provided, just to make sure it was fair. Both friends agreed and said that was a fair and honest quote. I called Scott back on a Tuesday morning and told him to go ahead with the repairs. He told me he had to order the needed parts and could hopefully have the car finished by the next day. Scott, kept to his word and called the next morning to notify me that the car was ready to be picked up. When I arrived to pick up the car, Scott answered all of my questions and even gave me some pointers on which new cars to shop for and how to get the best deal. Stay away. Unhelpful. I pulled in at 4:50 thankful I made it before 5 pm because my car was making noise and I didn't know if I would make it home. Guy sat behind the counter on the phone, said he'd help me in a sec. No problem, I went outside for him to finish his phone call. He never came out. So I went back, he still sat talking about his condo association and how his neighbors are 85 yrs old, and said to me again, I'll help you in a sec. So I waited in there for him. Now it's 4:57. He gets up and goes in the garage TO KEEP TALKING ON THE PHONE since I was in the office. So he starts a new story about how his neighbor told him to start his motorcycle on the street, and I go into the garage and I say, "Are you going to help me?" And he says, "Well, we close at 5 pm." I just left. That was a really weird experience. I guess they really close at 4:50? I made it to a Firestone where they kindly helped me. read more

The diagnosis has always been spot-on and the prices are competitive. Their work is top notch. What I really appreciate is that they'll give me a heads up if I'll be needing new brakes, tires, etc and when that will be needed. I've had two experiences with this shop. Both were FABULOUS. With the first experience, they came to my house to get the keys from my wife (our car wouldn't start) because we have children, and sometimes it's hard to get away. Talk about customer service! With the second experience, they spent time diagnosing a faulty ignition coil. That coil was under warranty with another shop, so I took it to the other shop. I paid Forest Automotive the diagnostic fee, which I expected to pay (they put in time, after all). The other shop came up with a different diagnosis. When I called Forest Automotive to tell them this, they said they stood by their diagnosis, but they offered to refund the entire diagnostic fee anyway. I offered to split the difference, but they insisted that they refund the entire fee. That's integrity, and integrity is probably the most important quality of a mechanic. Forest Automotive will definitely be getting our business in the future! read more
