I had an amazing experience when I was in a bit of a pinch.. I needed to rent two trucks to assist with a very last minute work project. I called to see if they had anything available, and they basically told me "yup, swing on by!" ...I pick up the trucks, and the main things you typically worry about, weren't a worry at all: the trucks were clean, drove great, lift gates worked really well, the pickup/drop off was quick and easy, and their price beat out most places I checked as well. I prepaid for my car rental on carrentals.com and got a good price. I got a Chrysler 300 which was super fancy with a lot of gadgets. The car rode really smoothe except that the nav screen locked up and the a.c. vents stopped working for about an hour at the very last leg of our trip. Which wasn't really anyone's fault but the manufacturer I'm sure. I like that this place is open super early, we were able to pick up our vehicle at 7 am. 10 am return was decent enough. Everyone was professional and the whole thing was very quick. I dont love the deposit, but it's pretty much inevitable with rentals. read more

They started out at 5-stars just for NOT BEING U-haul. Seriously...no multi-day rental with U-Haul unless you rebook each day (in-town). Who has time for that!? Not I. So I went to Yelp...and Elite Truck Rental seemed to be the best...and I am here to report it is pretty fantastic if you need any type of large vehicle. I needed a beast of a van for the Holiday Bash. Lots of boxes, lots of stuff, lots of room needed. So I drove that thing around for 2 days...Wednesday night through Friday afternoon. Clean, well maintained...By the end I was pretty damn good at parallel parking a van the size of a pontoon boat! Watch out, world. For two days, with insurance both days (about $20 per day) it came out to $150. You don't pay mileage, you just have to refill it and return it with a full tank. They were efficient, friendly and overall great to work with. They are a superhero truck rental company compared to peon U-Haul. It may be a bit out of the way (near Western/Fulton), but it is worth the trek. Street parking is easy over there if one must leave their car as well...(while driving away in the monster van). read more

But the beauty of Yelp is that even among businesses that are bad across the board, you can still find a gem here and there. Elite is one of them. Rent from them once, and you will wonder how you ever put up with U-Haul, Penske, Budget, et al. Where shall we begin? One, they do not overbook. Every other shitbox truck rental company does this. But not Elite. This means you'll have a truck on the day you need it. What a novel idea. Two, they're fast and friendly. Most U-Haul employees hate their customers and spend their free time punching orphans. The guys at Elite are polite and professional. There's also no reason you can't spend a total of about ten minutes picking up and returning your truck. They're ready when you arrive and ready when you return. Three, there's peace of mind. Should you encounter the misfortune of having to move out of one place and into another on separate days, there's a gated lot with a night watchman to ensure that your truck is safe. It's enough fun trying to find a street parking spot big enough for a moving truck. And then to leave it sitting there overnight? No need for that anymore. Moving day (and everything leading up to it) is stressful enough. Make things easy on yourself and go with these guys. read more

Very impressed with the service department here! Brought the company truck in with a lift gate that wasnt working, and after they diagnosed it within 20 minutes, turns out it was a switch. It wasnt in stock, but Matt got on the phone, located 1 and had it here promptly! Hr even offered a courtesy car if I cared for lunch. He kept me updated throughout the process too. After thrice using U-Haul and having a headache more than anything on my hands, I decided to give Elite Truck Rental a try. Mostly, it was because their location on Western wasn't more than a 5 minute jaunt from the place I was moving from, and that to me was worth giving them the try in the first place. I first looked around on their website to find pricing. At first glance, U-Haul "might" come out to be a little cheaper, but in the end, I'm quite certain I saved using Elite. The truck I needed was a 14 foot truck, and I called to make the reservation. The day I went to pick it up, I was in and out in literally 5 minutes. I already knew about all the charges, the CDW, the mileage, their closing times, etc. However, it slipped my mind when I made the reservation that, "hrm, I could qualify for the half day rate if I only use the truck for 6 hours." Anyway, moving only took around 3 hours (including truck return), and my grand total, including all charges, was around 75 bucks. That's 6 hours of big truck, the CDW, the rental fees, and my mileage. Granted, I only drove around 8 miles, and didn't have to fill up - but the ease of rental was WAY easier than any other company. read more

I stumbled on Elite after one of the "other guys" magically didn't have my truck rental the day I needed it and I was scrambling for a truck. This was a very positive moving experience for us. We reserved a Penske moving truck online, and we were very impressed at how proactive they were with calling to confirm, calling to let us know about a last minute pick-up location change, etc. The moving truck itself was in great shape and ran fine. Overall, this was a cheaper and better experience than when we've used UHaul in the past. We got a discount for reserving online (10%) and an additional discount for being AAA members (12%), so it was a great deal. We also appreciated that the reservation gave us the truck for 48 hours (who can get a move done in 24 hours?). Minus one star because we weren't particularly impressed with the Elite Truck Rental location. The building itself was gross and the employees weren't particularly professional. Our truck was fine, but there was a lot of talk going on about someone else's truck not being ready for them on time. Probably would give them 4.5 stars if possible. read more

Elite is efficient and professional. I'm so glad I didn't go through the hassle of trying to rent from UHaul again. You can easily leave your car on Western ave while using their truck during the day ( I'm not sure about parking on Western overnight). I arrived to pick up my truck, and was in and out in about 5 minutes. Same with the drop-off process. No trying to upsell me on a bigger truck, no "we're out of stock on the truck you booked", no funny business. The truck was clean and had a nice strong a/c, which was great considering we were moving on a 100 degree day. I will use them again for future moves or furniture purchases. read more

All I can say is a big...BOOOOOOOOOOOO! I have moved almost every year for at least the past 8 years. We decided to go with Elite because it was close to our house and we were told it would be cheap....NOT what happened. We drove the truck a grand total of 5 miles. The gas gauge never even moved. We picked up the truck at 8am and dropped it off around 4pm. When my boyfriend checked his bank statements he discovered we had been charged $150!!!!!!!! That was insane. So we went there to inquire about the charges and they didn't do ANYTHING! The last time we moved we rented a U-Haul truck. We put more miles on the truck and had it for about the same amount of time and it cost about $50! I will NEVER EVER EVER rent another truck from Elite! read more

I used elite truck rental this weekend with my move of horror. Why was it so horrible? Oh, cause my lovely elite truck got towed from a lot, after I had paid for parking. They towed it, full of all of my worldly belongings, and then I had to pay Brian and Michael's 900 bucks to get it back. (I blame the lot for not being at all clearly marked and I plan to take them to small claims court.) But since my truck was towed, they were so helpful, they managed to get me an extra 12 hours with my truck so I could finish my move, and were very nice about it. And then I left my checkbook in my truck, and they called me and were so nice about it. Today I just called to see if they had the parking reciepts for my small claims suit and they are going to check for me! Last year I used uhaul and I left something in the truck, and I'm pretty sure they just threw it out. SWEET. This place is great, their rates are good, I'd use them again and again. read more

Decided to try and find a new truck place after too many long and painful experiences at the U-Haul on Fullerton .. which just always seems to be a total gong-show .. Elite is close to my house, so I thought I would give it a try. Filled out their online form for a quote, and got one back the next day. Called and made the reservation. The truck was nice and clean, and I got in and out of there in 10 minutes on moving day. I was returning the truck after-hours, so they have a key drop box. Was also happy to see that the mileage on my final bill matched what I notated exactly. Basically they have good rates .. and everything - from the initial quote to the final bill - went totally smooth. Would not hesitate to use them again in the future. read more

Thank you Elite Truck Rental for saving my ass when U-Haul *totally* screwed me. I won't go into details other than saying that U-Haul is the devil. Elite rents you the truck for THE WHOLE DAY, and then some! I couldn't return it before they closed, but they allow you to drop it off before they open and just pop the keys into their return box. How amazing is that?!?! I would, in a heartbeat, use Elite again. Even tho they are sooooo far from me, they're worth the drive. read more

I knew I couldn't go with any other rental truck company after reading the reviews on Yelp, and I'm very happy to report that despite my multiple breakdowns during my moving weekend, Elite Truck Rental did everything they could to make everything on their end go as smooth as possible. Because of circumstances beyond my control, I found myself needing a truck with only a few days in advance. Already other places told me their trucks were sold out, but not this place. I reserved the truck size I wanted, and even called 2 days before to change sizes. On the day of, there was a line almost out the door (though to be fair, the office is really small). I was very nervous that things would take a long time (I had movers coming in an hour!) and that they wouldn't have the right van or equipment, but after 10 minutes, I was sitting in my new rental van, trying to figure out how to drive that monster. So while I do think driving lessons would be a great thing to have, I can understand why they didn't offer them. I'm just thankful they let my under 25 year old self rent the van. And I'm also thankful I didn't hurt or kill anyone/thing while the van was in my possession for 48 hours. I'm super paranoid about being attacked. This includes having my rental van broken into and all my possessions stolen while it's sitting on the street overnight. Luckily that didn't happen, thanks in part to this great company. First of all, the van didn't have back and side windows. Yes, that made it difficult to drive, but it also made it difficult to see what was inside so no one knew if it was worth breaking into. Plus, because it didn't have windows, the would-be thieves couldn't just smash a window and open the door, they would have to go at it with a crow bar. Secondly, there was a giant metal cage separating the front two passengers from the rest of the van. Just in case they broke the windshield, they still couldn't get in. Third, all the doors had individual locks. I found this incredibly annoying at first, but then I realized they couldn't smash the front window and hit the unlock button and have access to all my stuff. I was definitely a believer. My only real problem was after everything was done and I had returned the truck. My bank account was charged the full amount I had agreed to put a hold on. I knew this place was a little pricier, but I didn't think it was that expensive! Luckily, within 2 days they refunded a portion of my money, and my blood pressure went back to normal. The man on the phone couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful. Confirmed my reservation almost instantly, answered my kind of annoying questions about the specs of the stereos that come in them, and gave me city truck parking advice as well. Nice as can be. Ended up renting a Penske truck from Elite when I ran into problems with my U-Haul rental, without any sort of notification on U-Haul's part. Not good. It turned out for the best, thank god. After booking my res with the general Penske agent, Pat quickly followed up to confirm the pick-up location, sent a very clear confirmation email so I had the deets, and even offered to take the cost of an Uber/cab to pick up the truck off the rental total. We arrived this morning and found that instead of a 22' truck, we got a monster 26' truck--way too much room for our move, but given our last minute res, not surprising. We asked about a 16' truck, and Pat kept his cool, got on the case for us, and miraculously produced one within 20 minutes. After a quick and entertaining ride with Marco to pick up the truck, we were in business. (For the record, an 850 square foot condo fits nicely in a 16 footer with room to spare. And if you like your furniture, grab at least 2 dozen moving blankets on top of your truck rental.) Now we are on the road and thankful that Pat and the Elite team were on our side on this stressful morning. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend--they are fantastic, professional folks. read more

I actually rented from Penske but the pick-up location was through Elite Truck Rental. The manager (Pat) was very nice and helpful. I called to re-confirm that I could do the paperwork on Thursday afternoon since I needed the truck by 7am for my movers. I had planned to leave the truck overnight at this location (Penske assumed it was okay because there was a night dropbox). Pat said they locked up the lot, but I could leave the truck on the streets. He said it was an industrial area and trucks parked on the streets all the time. Of course I wanted to check it out for myself. So I showed up two days before my rental. Pat was there and he was right -- it was a big industrial area and I would easily be able to park the 26 ft truck on the streets. He even walked us over to the trucks so we could check it out...and compared the 22 ft vs. 26 ft truck. I'm glad we got the 26 ft. Upon leaving, I I asked if I could go ahead and pick-up the furniture pads that I had on my reservation so I could start wrapping furniture. He was very cool about it and let me take the 2 dozen that I had reserved. Good thing he did..we ended up using all 2 dozen and realized we need another 2 dozen. I picked those up the following day. Definitely rent here over U-haul. read more

Premise: I've driven tiny Japanese cars for 99% of my driving life, which is not terribly long since I haven't hit the magic age where the big rental and insurance companies consider you responsible. I was running out of time and options to move some furniture and after being scared away from the chains by online reviews, decided to take the truck rental plunge with Elite. Still, I was afraid they'd somehow read my mind and tell me I had no business maneuvering vehicles of the cargo caliber. Alas, there was no problem! Before: I gave a day or two's notice, but the van was ready right away. They were much too efficient for my friends' schedules (although mid-month, Sunday morning might have been a slow period). I paid by credit card; their practice is to charge a deposit and process an additional charge or a refund afterwards. During: The only problem (that wasn't my fault) was that the back doors wouldn't stay open by themselves and kept getting in the way of moving stuff. Then again, there could have been some sort of locking mechanism that I didn't know about. After: I topped off the tank as requested but maybe I drove so few miles that it wouldn't have mattered. Well, my ignorance is not their problem. Leaving the van parked on the street and watching the keys disappear into a black hole was a bit unsettling though. However, it's what they want and at least it saved me from having to come back the next day at 7am. A few days later, the refund showed up on my credit card. It would have been nice to get a final itemized receipt, maybe mailed or emailed, or at least a quick call to note that the van didn't vanish overnight. I guess I wasn't worried enough to actually ask. P.S. I am never, ever renting a van/truck EVER again (see: planning ahead and getting someone else to do it for me)!!! but if you need one to haul stuff in this area, take note of Elite. read more
