Is this the easiest place to find? Absolutely not! However, when you find it, it is a different world inside. The servers even tell you that you've fulfilled the first task: finding them. We literally asked neighboring shops where Elixir was and they had no idea what we were talking about I absolutely loved the fantastic decor inside and that they have a members only room. I would have joined, but I don't exactly live close to it though. If I did, I would have joined. The ambiance is fantastical and the drinks are fun. I wish they had some kind of food to eat with it beyond popcorn and some treats though. The taster flight was quite pretty, so pretty that we didn't want to drink it. Every drink was worth tasting though! The best part of the entire experience was our full sized drinks. We did a wizards test and that was so much fun! I can't wait to check it out again as we went during the soft opening. I wonder how much it has changed now that it is officially opened. From the get go, it feels so cool and secretive since you have to take the stairs up and then you're greeted with some medieval portraits and a massive skeleton bursting through the walls, brandishing a sword. You can hear the muffled sounds of music from what sounds like the middle ages and you are immediately invited in by a welcoming wizard. As the door opens, you're immediately teleported to a medieval fantasy world! The decorations and aesthetics are as if you've been isekai-ed into a whimsical dream that is tavern's bar, a mage's library/study room, and an elven/fairy forest altogether in one. All of the staff are into their roles and dressed to the tee. There are tables with chess that you can play as well. No matter where you look, everything is done with so much care and detail to attention. Lots of merchandise and goods from fantasy pop culture titles such as Harry Potter, Lort of the Rings, Game of Thrones, etc. Trinkets such as swords, a suit of armor, coat of arms, magical ceiling lights, items that you'd see at a wizard or witch's apothecary, and so much more. They even have a small shop where you can purchase your own elf ears, fox plushie, wand, etc. What's really neat is that there is a secret entrance behind the bookcase (really cool since I've only seen this in cartoons or on TV) leading to the VIP area which can be accessed if you have one of their medallions ($100 for membership). I believe medallion holders can get front of line privileges if there is a wait to get in and I think it's neat that the membership is a medallion instead of a card. Really plays into the medieval/fantasy setting. They also have 3 TV's showing some movies and classics such as Pirate of the Caribbean and Disney's "Haunted Mansion" and some ambient medieval music playing as well. Was surprised to hear a medieval version of Daft Punk's "Get Lucky". As a Tea Bar, they only have boba, coffee, and ice cream. We got the: 1) Inconceivable: -This is a milk only ice cream. Nice and creamy without being too sweet. -I was unfortunately taking pictures when this was served since an elf came by and cast some edible gliterry magic on our ice cream. -Served with color changing spoons. Not bad 2) Draven: -This is an Arabica café latte with magical crystals and boba with whipped cream on top. -It comes dragon style but I'm not too sure what that means. -Honestly just tastes like a café latte with boba. I guess there were some "magical crystals" in there in the form of a shimmer or something, but didn't really notice even after taking lots of photos. You are 100% paying for the atmosphere and theming here. The ice cream is alright and the drinks are all things I'm sure you can find for a fraction of the price at any local boba place, but it's not bad flavor wise per se. I just wished that the menu was a bit more descriptive? I know they listed the medallion membership, but it'd be cool if it listed all the perks since I'm sure that'd be more enticing to potential members. I know I did see some other patrons get "magic" with their drinks in the form of wands, popping magic bubbles and so much more but aside from the splash of edible glitter we didn't get anything else. I would love to see which drinks or ice cream come with extra magic and I can guarantee seeing that on the menu would also entice more individuals to order those things. On the same day I checked out their stories and this couple got a boba tasting flight? I don't think I even saw that on the menu and that couple was being served in the general tea bar area too. If I knew that was an offer on the menu, I would have ordered it. 3.6 stars I have been wanting to come here for a long time since I'm such a Potterhead & Bobahead! The interior definitely felt magical and medieval. I think the only Harry Potter-like prop I noticed was the wands, Lucius' walking stick, robe, and scarf. Other than that, it could just be a wizard's tavern. The drink I ended up getting was the Labyrinth ($12). The boba was really sweet and made the jasmine milk tea taste watered down. However, the tea by itself is quite good. While the size of the drink is quite big, however, I don't think it's worth $12. Tip: The gold medalion os $100 and only medalion holders can order the sampler drinks. Service was friendly. You def do need to come here to check out this boba shop! The experience is really fun. The only thing is they only have milk tea options with boba as their only topping and no fruit tea options or other alternatives like lychee jelly or aloe vera. Also their milk teas are called milk tea lattes. They're light and sweet so they're good. They're huge too in the large white glass. The boba is decent but I can say I have had better. $12 for a big boba is nice but it's PRICEY! I do wish there were more real fruit tea options. The ice cream though IS REALLY YUMMY. $10 is also a little pricey but the cookies and cream was perfect. They were also out of a lot of flavors like their Ube. They have cool things like spoons that are temperature changing, beautiful magic pixie dust for the ice cream, and fun activities such as chess and using a wand to cast magic bubbles in your boba potion. The staff is very in character so that's really fun. My friends and I def overstayed our welcome. While I didn't see a time limit, we were served the check after hanging out for 2 hours. Hah! Finally checked out the much anticipated Elixir Tea Bar on Saturday night and wow will I say it was a neat experience. I had been eyeing the tea bar for some time now but was hesitant to go due to hearing of the long wait times. Nonetheless, I finally made the leap to go and to my delight, was able to walk right in. It is located above the Purple Haze smoke shop and upon entering the tea bar, it is a sight to see! It was sensory overload (in a good way) with all the lights, sounds, and endless décor. They did an amazingly thorough job with decorating the area to the wizardry theme and went above and beyond with the details. We felt the whimsical magic, so... mission accomplished Elixir! We were seated at the long dining room table and were brought menus after some time. The menu is straight and to the point with boba tea and ice cream offerings. The tea drinks vary in price ranging from ~$11-$15 and the ice cream is $10; the prices are steep but I imagine we're paying for the entire experience of the environment. It's a good spot to observe people and the environment while enjoying your ice cream and tea. I noticed people were dressed up according to theme and the majority of people had smiles on their face throughout their experience. What a unique experience! Entrance is a tad weird, it's on the second story up stairs. You walk towards a vape shop and to the right is the stairs to the elixir. I loved that all the waitresses were cosplayed as different creatures like elves. The whole shop is a vibe in itself, transforming you into another mystic realm. The boba on this one for me was a bit on the chewy side/hard side but overall still a good drink. They recommended not to lower the sweetness so we left it as is. (4/5) Illusions - The boba texture on this drink was perfect being slightly chewy and sweet. A classic milk tea. (4.5/5) Kona Coffee and macadamia nut ice cream - WOW this is a must get. Chunks of nuts and small coffee flavor that mixed so well. (5/5) When you buy drinks you get to play a funny type of game or challenge. My challenge was to say I want to be a wizard and catch bubbles with my wand and put them in my drink. It was super hilarious and just made the vibe more interesting. A literal hidden gem... I mean seriously. You wouldn't know this place if nobody told you it was here. This spot is what you would get if you combined a speakeasy with boba tea filled with fantasy trinkets. I gotta say, I was pretty blown away when I walked in because of how cool it was. Their menu is limited with about 12 or so drinks and maybe 15 or so ice cream flavors. But honestly, you're paying for experience and if you opt to do the magic school thing with your drink it's definitely super cool! We watched other groups get to do the magic school thing from one of the fairies and it was an incredible performance. Our group all tried the "illusion" drink and it was good. After finding out he used to be a set designer, it made a lot of sense why the interior looked so cool. We were the fast ones there upon opening and got served very quickly. I ordered the Prophecy which had cardamom inside so it added a floral taste on the black tea base. It was honestly alright, it tasted a bit watered down. We then ordered the Java the Hutt ice cream which is essentially a coffee ice cream. It was incredibly delicious. It was rich and my friend and I were fighting over the last bite. All while trying unique boba tea concoctions and an ice cream while the kids took part in an epic wizards test. Thank goodness they passed! Spirited Away played near the bar, Solo on another tv before Monty Pythons Quest for the Holy Grail came on. The decor is an explosion of fantasy. There is even a bookcase with a hidden entrance. This is worth exploring but fantasy gamers, cosplayers and people looking for something different. Little note, not visible from the street. You walk like you are about to enter the romance shop and there is a stairway immediately to your right. This is the first boba tea bar I've been to that actually feels like a bar but without the alcohol. If you don't know where you're going it's a little hard to find but it's upstairs above Purple Haze. The entrance is roped off and a wizard lets you in as people leave. We came around 9pm on a Saturday and waited about 15 min. to get in. The place has fantasy/Harry Potter vibes and they do a really good job staying on theme from the detailed decor to the drink names. They even have Hagrid spinning music in the corner. The menu is limited with only 7 drink options and ice cream. My friend ordered a scoop of Java the Hutt ($8) and the manager presented it with a popping bubble that releases smoke. Pretty cool! The ice cream was good with a strong coffee flavor and bits of chocolate in it. For drinks, I got the Labyrinth ($10), a jasmine green tea latte. It was decent but tasted a little watered down. The boba was soft and chewy. My friend liked her Illusion drink and we also got a free sample of Cirenity. I preferred Cirenity over Labyrinth even though it's sweet. It's also the only fruit tea drink on the menu. I loved that the drinks were served in stein glasses with magic wands but they normally only come that way if you have their $100 per year membership. Also once they officially open this summer you'll only be able to get drinks to-go and not sit inside unless you have the membership. It's a cool place to try out but there's definite room for improvement. The drinks could be better and a place like this really needs servers who will give Disneyland level customer service and not just take your order. You have to ask permission to use the bathroom... I'm on the fence of this place. Everything was going great. Incredible environment and cute little menu. The main bathroom was closed so the creature Arrietty took me to the other bathroom. I showed the direction to my friend and when I needed to go again the creature slammed the door not letting me go and they said they revoked me from using the bathroom. Mind you they sell sweet items and the ice cream I got was dripping so I needed to wash my hands. Then they let me used the main bathroom. I couldn't get in because the chair was blocking the entry. Overall: 4.5/5 (dine in) We were in Newport Beach and wanted something to drink so we did a quick Yelp search and found Elixir Tea Bar. The out of world decoration drew our attention so we decided to go there despite some reviews about average but expensive milk tea. Elixir is located in a plaza with plenty of free parking spots but it's not clearly labeled and hard to find. It's actually up the stairs by the entrance of a vape shop. We were confused since there was a sign posted on the stair saying "Psychic". Once you go up the stairs, there is someone at the door who ushers you to your seat. It's based on availability but you can request to move to different spots. All the staff members are dressed up as different characters with elf ears and seem to enjoy their jobs. You see decors from a variety of fantasy realms like Game of Thrones to Harry Potter. We were seated at the bar where there were 3 movies showing on 3 different tvs. Their menu resembles that of an actual bar with ice creams listed on the left and milk teas on the right. They have lactose-free milk and milk alternatives available as well. The milk tea ranges from $10-14 and ice cream is $10. We thought we were going to get milk teas in the small plastic bottles that were on display but they came out in the 1 L beer mug with wands as stirrers! It also took them a while to make the drinks (~15 minutes) so we watched Avatar while we waited. After we got our drink, we moved to the back seats for a better view of the place. They have another room for their Elixir Wizard Medallion members behind the bookshelf too. Large Prophecy With Lactose-Free Milk ($10): This is a black tea latte with cardamom boba & magical crystals chimera style. This latte uses heavy cream so we substitute it for lactose-free milk. It's essentially a brown sugar milk tea which explains why it's so much sweeter than the Illusion. Large Illusion ($12): This is an oolong milk tea latte with honey boba & magical crystals Ceraph wizard style. I liked this one more than the prophecy but my husband liked the Prophecy more since it's sweeter. I could taste the oolong tea and thought the sweetness level was just right. I don't know what's in the magical crystals that give it the blue color but it doesn't affect the taste of the drink. I think it's butterfly tea and it's not sparkly like the menu picture. This latte uses lactose-free milk already so we didn't have to change the milk. The boba in both drinks were a bit hard & got stuck in the straw quite often. I could taste the honey but didn't really notice a different taste for the cardamom boba. It would have been great if they offered other toppings. The waitress said they wanted to create a unique place for people who want to enjoy the bar scene without the alcohol, and I think they definitely succeeded! We visited on Saturday at around 7:50 PM, and there was a line out down the stairs and out the door. They are located on the 2nd floor above a smoke shop and sex shop next to a psychic. We had to wait in line for about 30 minutes. The staff kept periodically coming out to tell people to move the line off the stairs due to the fire code, but when we exited the stairs were packed with people again. Once we got to the front of the line, we were greeted by an older gentleman. He was in costume and very kind natured. We elected to sit at the bar so we were able to be seated slightly quicker than those waiting for a table. There were approximately ten bar seats and a few booth and table options. One table had chess set up for guests. The space was small overall and a bit stuffy and warm. Once seated, we were greeted quickly by a server. I ordered the Prophecy, and my husband ordered the Oracle. The server told us it would take a while to make the Oracle because it was made to order, which confused us because we thought they were all made to order? Anyway, it did not take very long (less than ten minutes), and our drinks were in hand. The drinks were good, but to be honest, nothing above and beyond what we've had at other local boba spots. I would even say the boba was not warm nor as fresh as we've had at other boba spots, but a bit more firm and bland tasting. The drinks were being served in disposable plastic cups, which was a bummer as we looked forward to the enticing cups with garnished rims we've seen others post. We came for the experience we've seen online, and it definitely did not deliver all we expected. The ambiance is likely the reason guests will keep coming in, not necessary the expensive boba drinks and ice cream. The vibes were enchanted forest mixed with whimsical chambers. The place definitely appeals to those to appreciate cosplay and fantasy. Behind the bookshelf, there is a hidden room. When we inquired about it, we were told we may tour it, but then another server corrected our server telling her we could not tour it because it was for members only. We weren't told about the membership so we were left wondering about it. All in all, not sure we'll be back since it was not really our vibe. I visited Elixir after seeing something on IG that peaked my interest. It was a wonderful experience, something everyone should try! They serve boba tea, not alcohol like I thought. People of all ages are welcome most hours (after 9pm I think it's 18 and over). The experience is so immersive and the staff are EXCELLENT. They have wonderful attitudes and dig their roles immensely and it shows. I recommend you order "THE PROPHECY" and get the "WIZARD TEST" add on. My friends and I had a great time! We had no idea what to expect and were delighted by the whole experience. When in OC, you need to try this place at least once. The only reason this is a 4 star review is that the service was slow and inaccurate orders - but that does not take away from the 5 star attitudes and roles the staff played. read more

A boba/non alcoholic drink speakeasy tucked away on the second floor of an old building. It's right above a vape store. I didn't know how recent or new this place open up. I can tell this place is very unique and go for a mystical/magical theme with wizards and elves. Love the interior and ambience as it is something I never experienced before. Service - We waited about 15 mins in line to get in and 20 mins for our drinks and 10 mins to try flag a server to pay. I think because it is too new that they were behind on orders and running everywhere. I wish it was more a pay at cashier service rather than someone coming to us for orders. The drinks was $10 but personally do not think it is worth $10. It's very expensive but you pay for the experience for being inside. You can find better drinks at Bako, Omomo or Orobae. Really cool place. The staff go all out for their theme nights. Also family friendly until 9 pm i believe. They don't have any food but the ice cream is really good. I tried the ube flavor and it was super authentic and delicious. Also like the fact that they have screens all around the room playing movies / shows like Sailor Moon and Xena: warrior princess. Wow! Just wow. It's not at all what I was expecting in the best way. Funny enough, when you park it kind of gives speak easy vibes because the door is not immediately accessible. FYI it's NOT located inside nor do you need to go thru LOVERS to get to it lol. Learned that the funny & hard way. There's a staircase to the right of the entrance of the smoke shop that will take you past a psychic & then to the main door of the Elixir Tea Bar--just that sentence in itself has me cracking my up omg. Anyway, when you walk in, you're immediately greeted with whimsy & lights & a velvet rope that stops you to wait to be seated. It's a cozy location surprisingly good for groups or small parties however take in kind limited seating. No matter where you sit you're going to be dazzled with plenty to admire: lights, posters, figurines, a TV playing Buffy the Vampire Slayer & much much MUCH more. (There also is a speak easy inside but you've gotta become a member for an annual fee.) The menu is limited to about 10 drinks or so, but surprisingly very tasty. For the table (I forgot the whimsical names) -iced matcha lightly sweetened with light boba & whipped cream. It was perfectly sweetened & creamy. -Thai iced tea with boba & a hint of lavender/floral -2 orders of the wizard test ($5/each) totally worth it for the experience if it's your first time Drinks ranged from about $10-$15 & are served in cocktail glasses (nonalcoholic.) Many of the tables are styled for conversation with oversized comfy leather sofa chairs, the tables are chess tables which you can also play on & even the bathroom has decorations. Because we were the first customers of the day, they put on a smoke bubble show with our drink. The Cirenity comes with aloe jelly and it was really refreshing. The drinks came in fun shaped glasses and with a wand. Normally, you would need a gold coin membership for the show and glass, but we got them today. We also got the Ube-Wan Kenobi ice cream and it was rich and milky. There's a secret entrance through the bookcase and they gave us a sneak peek tour. They have tons of plans to grow this place and add a bunch of fun stuff. read more
