I've lived in NYC for many years, tried many veterinarians and I couldn't be happier with the care my dog has received here. Dr. Brown and her team are extremely knowledgeable and VERY caring. They don't tack on extra services that aren't necessary and they have an excellent dentist on staff as well. The women who work at the front desk are also well aware of many medical issues, always happy to help and answer questions. Gotham Veterinary Center is simply the best.

Vet had no bedside manner. Super judgmental. Not my regular vet, who didn't have immediate availability. Absolutely do not recommend.

Dr Bryant was great and took good care of my cat who was throwing up everyday. He is now well and his belly is all well.

They got my boy in for an appointment quickly, treated him gently (he is wildly anxious in the best of circumstances), and they treated me gently, too (also wildly anxious in the best of circumstances). They were clear, communicative, and Dr. Macri ensured I fully understood what was happening with my little friend and what next steps were. A week later, Gomez is back to normal. I know what to watch for, and if (god forbid) anything else happens, I'll be heading back to MHPH with full confidence my dog will be treated with kindness, compassion, and the best veterinary care available. Thank you to the doc and the entire staff. We are so lucky to have you!

Our 4 very senior poodles have been remarkably healthy throughout their lives. Dr. Dan has been there for us during their senior years as we navigate typical aging vs actual illness and respectfully supports our choices for testing and vaccinating sparingly. Shout out to Joan at the front desk as well, she always makes the wait in the waiting room less stressful.

Dr. Dougherty and his team are seriously the best. If you have any type of cat, sphynx, regular cat, whatever, I highly recommend you take them here. They have a love for cats and their care for them shines through. Their office is beautiful and well run, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and their bedside manner is second to none. Dr. Dougherty let me dump my anxiety on him and talked me through every one of my concerns, in layman's terms that also came with a huge amount of confidence. He was not trigger happy to run any tests and really gave me the pros and cons of every test and was completely upfront with pricing. When it came time for the dreaded rabies vaccination, not one of my (admittedly, very easy going) cats even flinched. I have a Sphynx breed and for some reason other vets seem to hem and haw at what he's dealing with, Dr. Dougherty didn't bat an eye and seemed to be able to communicate with Morrie on a feline level. I am truly blessed to have Dr. Dougherty and his team in my cat's corner, because I know with them, my cats will always have the best medical care. On a slightly irrelevant note (but to me equally as important), Dr. Dougherty treats his coworkers and techs with such respect and kindness, I was truly inspired.

As others have noted, he is super knowledgeable and takes the time to answer every question, explain treatments clearly, and his calm, reassuring manner makes both pets and owners feel at ease. Extremely concerned when my male cat vomited up his entire stomach and visited the litter box…read moremultiple times within a couple of hours. Called this place after doing an extensive search for a decently rated pet ER (not many around me). I am so thankful there is at least one, and they're open 'round the clock. Was placed in an examination room and was seen fairly quickly by a tech for vitals, followed by the vet (I swear I tried so hard to remember her name to give her a personal shout out but stress took away my memory). She was awesome. Thorough and caring. While nothing appeared to be an evident emergency, my cat was clearly suffering from something hurting him. Recommended course of action seemed slightly excessive, but this vet truly stepped up to help me out. I consented to an xray, which indicated constipation. Treatment included sub-q hydration, anti-nausea medication, and a laxative. Cat had never been poked and prodded so much in his life. But he was such a good boy, and thankfully never bit or scratched- just growled and hissed. I would have too, little buddy!! I truly, sincerely appreciate knowing my boy doesn't have any bowel obstruction or anything worse. Great relief that we'll manage with the laxative and hopefully he'll be good as new. Thank you to the Vet Tech and the assistant who were both so helpful and supportive (and whose names I also forgot). Great team. I really, really love that every staff member called my boy "friend" and treated him like their own.

I had heard many good things about VEG and went in with high expectations. Unfortunately I was very…read moredisappointed by my experience. On Sunday evening, I took my senior Chihuahua to VEG Chelsea. A vet tech quickly took her weight and temperature but did not ask why we were there or take any other history. We were placed in a room in the back with a window to the main area where I could see lots of staff members. After 45 minutes of waiting with no updates or anyone checking on my dog, I went out to ask if they might have an estimate of when the vet might see us and was told a few minutes, but this proved not to be true and I watched that vet leave for the evening. Around the two-hour mark, I heard a staff member tell the new vet that everyone was triaged. I was surprised because no one had asked what brought us to the ER. I spoke with a staff member in the hallway and explained that we'd been waiting for two hours with no one taking my dog's history or checking on her, and I told her that I was disappointed by the lack of communication. Before we could discuss it, another staff member interrupted and told me that my dog's temperature and weight were the triage and she asked what I expected since one veterinarian had just left and another had just arrived. I understand that ERs have to prioritize certain patients, and I was not upset about waiting. However, I felt dismissed when I waited for two hours with no one providing us updates or checking on my dog. A little bit of communication would have gone a long way. I found the staff member's response to my concerns very condescending, and so my dog and I left. For those reasons, I would not recommend this ER and next time will visit one of the many others available in our city.
