The cream sauce was deliciously sweet and the chicken was as tender as I've had in almost forever. I also had a green salad with blue cheese dressing, which was very nice. A couple of my friends had cocktails and they thought they were very good. Other meals to my friends included the Poutine Fries; The breaded pork chop (schnitzel) and the shrimp pasta. One person had the hard cider and enjoyed that, and then of course, at the end of the meal, they have these delicious little chocolates two of us had them and one person had the chocolate pot re crème. All of us loved every bite. And they have done away with including the tip for the meal. Our server, Ross, managed five gabby women, each wanting a separate check, with aplomb, grace and kindness.

The pork chop was a little tough for my taste, but honestly all pork seems to be that way because of the changes in hog care/feed. I don't usually like a mule, but this one had marionberry vodka and I'm a sucker for just about anything with marionberry flavor so I went for it. I was surprised how much I liked this drink, because ginger beer usually is far too overpowering and here it was well balanced with the rest of the drink. I would order this again, and probably liked it better than the bit of the Starry Night I tasted from my sister. They also have seasonal drinks and lots of beers and wines to choose from. It's in the Gordon Hotel, so it's hard to miss (except I did, because for some reason I didn't make the connection that the Gordon Tavern was of course the restaurant at the Gordon Hotel). We attempted to order one option and were told it was unavailable. We then ordered the tiramisu for two and were instead served cannolis -- without explanation. Nearly everything listed on the special Valentine's menu was sold out. We had a reservation, so the restaurant knew exactly how many guests to expect. Running out of most featured items on a fixed-price holiday menu shows a lack of preparation. The most frustrating part was the pricing. We were charged $75 per person (plus drinks) for food that was cold, incorrect, and incomplete. Charging premium holiday pricing requires premium execution. That standard was not met. we did receive one free drink for our excessive wait time. She also advised that she would add an additional discount for the fact that they didn't have multiple menu items. However, when we were given our bill, it was for $100 per person. Given our drink was $15 there was no discount and they actually tried to charge us more than what was stated on the menu. Valentine's Day is meant to feel thoughtful and memorable. This is a pretty restaurant, but there was no music in the background, and it would have been nice for there to be candles or something on the table. The paper menus are weird too, and we're never taken away after we ordered. Maybe this is a normal thing. There are so many other good restaurants around that I can't recommend this place.
