Note to self and visitors. The parking lot right by the restaurant was almost $5 AN HOUR!!!! Yes, $5 per hour. Unless you are OK in paying an arm and a leg, go for it. I should have looked for street parking. I went on Saturday at 6pm, maybe that's why it was crazy expensive. Gosh, this price was more expensive than parking in Los Angeles. The restaurant was very cute, service was great. Food was very good. However, my lasagna was 1.5" x 4". I guess I got the mini/kids size lasagna. My son got the pepperoni pizza and he liked it. Pizza is pizza, it was good. his roommate got the chicken fettuccine. His portion was very generous and he loved it. We all enjoyed it and I would definitely go here again but not park in their parking lot. read more

Ambrosia is a cute restaurant right in the center of downtown. I was meeting a friend for dinner and since I got there a little early I headed to the bar for a drink while I waited. The bartender was very nice and I ordered a scotch. The pour was generous and the price was as expected. Once my friend arrived we were shown our table, given our menus and told the specials. So far it was a nice experience. We settled on our choices and waited for our server to return. It took longer that I would have hoped and the restaurant was not very busy. I ordered the Pasta al Limone, my friend ordered the Butternut Squash and Gorgonzola Ravioli. We were then told they were out of the Ravioli. Would have loved to have known that at the beginning. After a few awkward moments to come up with a second try the Fennel and Sausage Rigatoni was the choice. The food was fine but nothing special. My sauce was thick and not expressing any lemon flavor. The pasta was fine but again nothing to write home about. The same with the rigatoni, all of it was fine but I can get fine at a lot of places. Overall, the ambiance was nice, the service was okay and the food was not completely disappointing. That is about it. I would go back if someone invited me but I will not have this on my list of places to revisit any time soon. read more

My friend loves this place, so we go every year for his birthday. To be fair, the drinks are good and they have great service. However every single year we come, we all end up hating our meals. Not to mention even though it's his birthday, they didn't bring him dessert. This extremely tiny piece of fish I ordered was $50!!!! Even the presentation was bad. To top it off, it tasted undercooked and fishy, and I later suffered from food poisoning. We ordered bread for the table ($4) and it's a few pieces of a thinly sliced baguette. The portions here are insanely disappointing for the price, and for a $50 piece of fish, bread should be included. Do yourself a favor and go to Placedos instead. read more

Food tastes good, but service is hit & miss and prices are pretty high for what you get. $36 for four small scallops, a little grilled squash and cream polenta felt steep. Margarita was pretty good, but very small for $17 (included $4 up charge for better tequila). Service was iffy. Waiter ignored us a bit and we had to inquire on timing of our food after an hour. Glad we had 2 hours until our show because we needed it due to slow service. While this place holds nostalgic memories for me, it unfortunately needs some improvements to be somewhere I want to frequent. read more

We arrived and were seated promptly, our server was over pretty quickly. We received free bread, cold butter, and oil and vinegar. The butter was hard to spread as it was fresh from a fridge in little wrapped pieces. We ordered a charcuterie which was very good, we loved the selection and the amount for the price. The food was pretty good except my husband asked for his lamb a bit more rare and it was not rare whatsoever, the risotto that it came with was very good. I ordered the goat cheese ravioli and it was perfect! We were seated in a cute, cozy, intimate feeling area. All around the service and food were very good. Horrible pizza. Our favorite pizza place R Pizza in Springfield is closed so we ordered pizza to go from Ambrosia an Italian restaurant. We ordered a large we got 3 small slices each for two of us. The crust was bland & flat no brown puffs created while cooking in their special brick oven. If there was only one size the guy that took the order should have said so! We've had dinner in this beautiful old unique brick building. The ambiance is wonderful for Eugene but the food leaves a lot to be desired and it's expensive. Too bad. Eugene is lacking in good restaurants. We'll keep searching. read more

The inside of this restaurant is huge. Bar area is really cute. Our server was very friendly. The menu has a great variety of pizza, pasta, appetizers, calzones, and more. Beautiful ambience. I love the bar here.. the pizza used to be good many years ago, but now it is woefully awful. They should just take it off their menu.. it does not reflect the history of this establishment's pizza. Quite a good Caesar salad. The specials are definitely the way to go as we did have some really good food served to us. Food prices have risen and it is expensive here. Nice family/group dining spot located in a restored older building with lots of character. Two stories, with upper and lower dining room. Cozy atmosphere, good service and good food. The only downside was that my sister-in-law's food was mistimed and came out as the rest of us were already finishing our food. She ordered the cannelloni, for reference. woke up still annoyed. we show up for an 8pm reservation for 2 and the restaurant has stopped serving pizza which to be be completely honest if you guys are closing half your menu at 8, close the whole restaurant at 8 or at least tell people with a reservation so that they have the chance to choose another establishment. the server was preoccupied with another table and was honestly not welcoming in the slightest. our mediocre yet expensive meal was bookended by a sweet "alright ladies, boxes?!" at a cool 8:56PM while we were still actively eating. honestly i get that you close at 9 but maybe an ounce of decorum would be nice at what is advertised as a more upscale establishment. honestly feel like i burned my money coming here. would NOT recommend. read more

Just got done eating at this place literally writing this in the parking lot because the experience was awful, my boyfriend took my here for our valentines dinner and as soon as we are sat our glasses were filled with water come to find out the glasses are so dirty stuff was floating in the cup and we were scratching food off of the cups, we ask for new cups the server goes to get more and I see him pick up about 5 glasses before he could find a clean one to hand us. Next, we ordered a charcuterie board and I picked up a piece of salami to find a hair wrapped in it that was delectable. As we didn't want to send it back since we're already send the glasses we moved past it come to find 2 more hairs wrapped up in the cheese and olives. YUM! After our appetite was lost we're looking around just enjoying the scenery and the amount of cob webs and dust and dirt that was all over the place was disgusting including our servers PANTS! The restaurant just opened and his pants had food all over them. This place isn't special and the seats are so cramped there's no privacy for you or your significant other. Save your money read more

The goat cheese ravioli was below subpar if that's possible. Topping that off, our server didn't offer bread or oo/balsamic dipping bowl when they finally did respond to the request for it, no butter though. Asked for that again. They forgot the sugar for the tea. It appears that Armen, the owner, has made some changes to the quality of the servers, the service, and the food. My friend has the Steak Gorgonzola, and noted the steak was tough. Overall, major disappointment when the server didn't ask if anything was wrong with my meal. I have been going to Ambrosia for 26 years, but the changes made to the quality, it is my last visit. Sad. read more

Went with a group of more than twenty. We had reservations for weeks but when we got there, the room wasn't ready and they only had one server assigned to us. We arrived about 6:45 for a 7:00 pm reservation. It was 8:30 before anyone got food. I have celiac and asked what would be safe. I was told the special would be, it was filet mignon. I ordered that blue. It came out medium and with brown gravy. I asked if the gravy was gluten free and was told it was. I went ahead and ate it and was up horribly sick the entire night. This was more than cross-contamination. My guess is they either do not understand what gluten is or simply don't care. read more

I've been coming here my whole life but hadn't been in a while. My daughter and I saw a show at the Hult Center and I convinced her to go with me to dinner after. She's more of a home body. Atmosphere and food were exactly as I'd remembered, very good. The hostess was rushed and less than welcoming. Our server was unfriendly and seemed uninterested. Although he got everything correct and the food was good, he didn't ask us if we wanted appetizers or dessert, we did. He also took my cheese and garlic as I was still eating the last bits. He didn't let us know about the specials either. I was hoping for a nice glass of red wine and asked for a recommendation, I didn't really like the wine. Not his fault, but he didn't listen to what I liked either. He was rushed but I could tell he wasn't very busy. Maybe just an off night for him or maybe just not the best line of work for him. I'm really forgiving of servers when they are busy as long as they are nice, he was neither. We felt like we were annoying and imposing. Not great. This was Friday night at 5:00pm and we sat in the front room looking on to Willamette st. When we were walking out trying to balance our to go boxes, he did offer us a bag for the food, so that was nice. Ambrosia has been one of our favorite restaurants in Eugene. They were closed for awhile and I'm not sure if they changed ownership during the transition, but we celebrated Mother's Day here tonight after 2-3 years of not having been there. It did NOT disappoint and was as good as we remembered: Al dente pasta, delicious lasagna, and a tasty Caesar salad. Our waitress was sweet and attentive, the portions were generous, and our daughter loved her spaghetti from the kids menu. The ambiance and decor make you feel like you are in the 1920's with stained glass windows, Victorian wood carved benches, art deco Obelisk paintings, Tiffany lamps... There are also several lofts and living room dining areas that allow for a personalized and private seating experience. The bar is classy and its elegance adds to the overall entrance as you walk in. Love this place and so glad they've reopened. read more

Not good at all. I went here for a date we had reservations for 6:00pm. When we got our order taken, they brought us soup and bread. The soup tasted great and the bread tasted freshly baked. It's now been an hour now and still no entrées. With two loaf of bread and soup my date and I were pretty full. I was embarrassed especially how fancy the restaurant is and how much the name has spread over town.
