I Have been to the best Eyebrow Shapers in nyc- From Maribeth Madron, to Sania, basically everyone. first, they had me waiting for over 30 minutes, then her son (or some guy) came to do my brows and I was NOT ok with that, so I insisted on Elke. finally one hour later she came. at a 195 price tag, I may have gone to any waxing salon... my eyebrows left there thin, horrible looking and when was this style from? the 90's? I went to get my eyebrows laminated and I left with my eyebrow hair looking worse than when I came in. The women doing my brows was very nice and chatty, but would go on and on about how she has this technique and that technique on making the eyebrows look good. I was expecting to look like a model or something after how much she talked up her lamination skills. Ive gotten lamination done before at a different salon and they were beautifully done-straighter but fluffy. Ultimately, I left disappointed and will not be going back. To say I'm disappointed with Elke would be an understatement. I went in very hopeful as I had seen her featured in some articles from 2014. Throughout the shaping I felt that my brows looked OKAY - not amaZing but fine for what it was. As we progressed I realized that I wasn't really happy with my brows. They were just okay but I was afraid to have Elke take off more as I didn't want my brows to be too thin and I was hoping when I got home and filled them in I'd like them a lot better. When I got home and filled them in I realized how bad they really were. There were hairs all over the place, the tops of my brows were uneven, and The two brows were uneven - distant cousins let alone sisters. Since I got these done on my birthday, I was very upset with how poorly Elke handled the situation when I told her I was unhappy. She would only let me come in and have her fix them and was unwilling to issue any sort of refund - partial or full, but WHY would I want her to touch my brows again to just make them worse? I finally was able to go to Joey Healy and he did wonders to fix the disaster that she created. F-ck yeah! This was my first time visiting Elke's salon, a lovely, modern studio on the 9th floor of 1140 Broadway. Elke was very warm and welcoming, and took the time to explain her process/philosophy. I had a brow shaping, brow tint and eyelash tint, and all I can say is what I said when I looked in the mirror: wow. What a difference a professional shaping makes, as well as a light tint. Elke started off using a shade not much darker than my own. explaining that you can always put more on, but you can't take it off if you go too dark! I appreciated her approach, and she always emphasized that we could do whatever I wanted, go darker, etc. depending on how I felt. She got it on the first try, and with the tint and a natural shape, she achieved exactly what I wanted. read more

I went in for a tweezing service because I am very careful about over tweezed brows. What would normally take 20 mins was over in less than 10 mins. I felt the service was very rushed and when I got home and looked closely there were so many stray hairs left and my brow area was not cleaned well. I chose to go to this salon because I thought I would get a very personalized service. I was charged over 100 dollars but I feel I did not get my money's worth. I had a skin clearing aromatherapy facial last week with Beata. The treatment was 75 minutes. Beata was very thorough and communicative throughout the process and about my skin needs. I will definitely be back for more facials. The entire facial was relaxing and comforting; the extraction process was a bit painful which is expected with any facial, but Beata was very quick about it... after the treatment, my skin felt extremely clean. The only thing I didn't like too much was the noise level. The studio is relatively small and the facial room is only separated by a wall and a door from the rest of the place, so you can really hear everything that's going on outside, which takes away from the experience overall. I was happy to see that neither Beata or Elke attempted to push any of their products on me. In fact, I was the one who was interested in their products. Had an appointment booked for this evening at 615. When I showed up, they were closed so I tried to contact them and was rudely responded to that my appointment was cancelled and that they tried to contact me this morning but I gave them the wrong number. So I had just left work early, traveled 30 mins and it was somehow my fault? No apology was given despite the inconvenience. What's odd is that I have been a client for over a year and for each and every appointment before this, they had texted me on my same number to ask me to come earlier than my scheduled appointment. I also checked my profile online and saw my correct number listed. Somehow my number changing in their system is my fault? I can't knock Elke's work because I have been a very happy client but I can't continue to be a client with this kind of treatment by her staff. I had pretty much given up on my anemic, uneven brows, but after my visit with Elke today, I feel like there is hope again. Upon entering the salon, I was immediately greeted and offered a seat by her very sweet and friendly receptionist. Elke was right on time with starting my appointment, which was especially nice, since I was on my lunch break from work. She took the time to discuss my issues with my brows and what I hoped to get out of our appointment. She went over the different options available to me for achieving the look that I wanted and she carefully explained what she would be doing before she started. The plucking itself was rather quick and painless and Elke showed me a technique for shading them in that matched my skill and comfort level. Aside from her talent, she is very friendly and easy to talk to, which made the whole experience as enjoyable as having hair plucked can possibly be! In the end, I was very pleased with what she was able to do for me. I feel like she maximized what I had for her to work with and she gave me lots of great tips - none of which I have ever heard - for eyebrow care and grooming. I felt absolutely no pressure to purchase anything, though I did pick up some of her excellent Brow Fix (where have you been all my life?). I repeatedly told the receptionist that I had to go out of town because of a serious family emergency and she said word for word "there's nothing I can do for you". She did not try to accommodate me in any way and was very rude. Perhaps you should consider recording these calls given the dishonest reportback you've been given. --------- Probably the worst, rudest customer service I've ever come across. I had to cancel my appointment on the same day for a serious emergency that I called to explain, the receptionist refused to listen and kept repeating that since it's less than 24 hours there's going to be a service charge of an unknown sum(!!!). I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT DOING BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. I was a regular customer if this establishment for months and then made an appointment on their book online system. The day before the appointment my schedule changed and I needed to make it a half hour later. So I went on their booking system, saw that the later slot was available, and called the receptionist to make the switch. I was told that I would be charged the full price for canceling the first appointment and then I could book the later one. When I questioned this she put me on hold and supposedly checked with Elke who agreed. IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE APPOINTMENT BY 30 MINUTES FOR ONE THAT WAS OPEN AND NOT BOOKED ACCORDING TO THEIR SYSTEM I WOULD HAVE TO PAY IN FULL FOR BOTH APPOINTMENTS!! When I again was incredulous, the receptionist asked for my phone number and said that Elke would call me back. I asked her if Elke was going to call me right back because I would give her my home phone number...she said yes so I gave her my land line...they had my cell phone on their company records anyway. Elke never called so I assumed that they would not accommodate me and rushed all the way into the city from Westchester to make my appointment. When I got there the receptionist was extremely rude and said that Elke was not in and that she had texted the number that I left that they in fact did make my appointment later. When I asked her what number she texted she told me the number that I left earlier which was my landline. There was no apology; in fact the receptionist went on to tell me what a bad day she was having. Granted at this point I was not happy since I had scheduled another appointment for the later time slot. I stormed out of the place and waited downstairs in Starbucks, all the while trying to change my next appointment so I could go back to Elke's at the later time. A few minutes later I got a call from yet another rude receptionist who proceeded to call me a liar and tell me that they had in fact texted me on my cell phone and not to bother coming back at the later time since Elke was not coming in after all. So I spent all of the time and money to commute into the city for nothing, and got abused for my trouble. The irony is that if they had simply just agreed to change my appointment to begin with, none of this would have happened. Hard to believe that an establishment that treats customers this way can stay in business...I guess the old saying of the customer is always right is passé...what a shame. read more

Summary: - Appointment started late - End result was the opposite of what was described/promised - When I let them know the next day I was unhappy, I was blamed for it. They never apologized. - Won't be going back, and I don't recommend it I booked the Lash Glam + Eye Revival service. They ask you to arrive 10-15 minutes early, which I did, and they were 15 minutes late, so overall I waited about 25 minutes - which I think is too long. I was supposed to see Gina, but since she was running so late, Elke started my appointment. She promised my curled lashes would look extremely natural - not like other places that look like you've rolled your lashes around a small tube. She started the procedure and once Gina finished, Gina took over. The actual procedure is fine, but when they showed me the results, they were exactly how Elke described the "other" places. My eyelashes looked completely unnatural and basically curled around to touch my eyelids. It was embarrassing. I asked them to try to make them look more natural. Gina worked for another 5-10 minutes. They looked a little better and she promised they would relax and I would like them, so I left. The next day they were completely straight except for a weird really tiny, tight curl at the edges. I wrote them an email expressing my disappointment and they wrote back basically blaming me for the result. Gina did not apologize once which was really surprising. She suggested I come back and she would reperm the lashes straight. Since this supposedly lasts 4 months, I turned that offer down since the whole point was to get curled lashes. Needless to say, I don't recommend this procedure and won't be going back. Updating in response to Elke's comment. I don't want to get into a back and forth, but I contacted them 1 day later (after waiting the 24 hours to let the perm set). I explained that the perm had basically fallen out except for a random stupid looking curl at the end, and they didn't seem to understand that - they kept saying I should have known when I left BUT IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE THAT WHEN I LEFT. So how could I have said something? The options were to wash my eyes often, to put olive oil on my eyelashes, and to come in for a perm to straighten my eyes. I still think they handled the situation poorly when their service failed. The customer is always right. read more

Just went for an appointment and their doorman messed up the time and sent me away for 30 minutes and when I came back upstairs a half hour later their incredibly rude secretary told me I was 30 minutes late and would be charged. They refused to see me even though this was 100% their mistake.
