I hate leaving bad reviews because I know businesses depend on them so much but I also want to leave an honest review for anyone who is looking to come here and spend more than $80 on their eyebrows! I am sorry but the price is just insane for a 15 min tweeze... I am new to the city and I wanted to find the best place to do my brows because I am so picky about them but I am really disappointed in this place so I definitely won't be returning. I left feeling like I needed to go get my eyebrows done again. First of all, they only spent about 15 min on them and it seemed like they knew what they were doing. They "mapped" them out but that was just for show because it didn't change what they did to my brows at all. They tweezed a few hairs and trimmed them a tiny bit but I didn't see any noticeable difference. I literally got home and tweezed a few more hairs they missed. I was really bummed because I was looking forward to getting my brows done. I usually leave a brow salon feeling great! This was not my experience here at all. I feel bad because everyone was really nice and I am sure other people have had better experiences but I wanted to leave this here because I wish I would have known this before booking my appointment at this place. Great spa experience! Went to see Jeremi yesterday. He is super knowledgeable of eyebrows, and provided me with great insights and secrets on how to enhance my brows. Jeremi had the best brows which put me at ease, and communication skills without seeming snobby as you don't want to get this service from just anyone and want to have fun in the process! Disappointing appointment. Very uneven cut, trim and tinting. The tinting did not cover the white hairs that I wanted to color -- and I clearly told the stylist that this is what I was after. Further, the salon does not provide mirrors with magnification, so I was not fully aware of the lack of color coverage until I got home. This could have been corrected at the salon but the stylist didn't take a careful look. I'm concerned as to how my brows are going to grow out, as the stylist shaved around my brows, a little too much. I stiffed the stylist out of a tip (first time ever!) because I was so white-hot, and left in a huff. I don't like getting so upset and this isn't the experience I was after! The salon is relatively expensive with my bill coming to just under $100 with tax. :-( read more

I feel really bad because they were all so nice...but my brows look a mess. Once I got home and took the makeup off I saw how bad they were. They're slightly rounded, have chunks missing and are overall very sloppy looking. I've gotten a better job done at threading places. It's not worth it; the amount of time it's going to take to regrow is going to be painful. I've been going to Joey for 3 years and he is incredible! He's a true virtuoso with anyone's eyebrows and I honestly can't see myself going to anyone else after getting the Joey Healy experience. I always get a really warm greeting when I step into this brow studio. They really take the time to listen to what I want for my brows while making recommendations as well. The service takes about 40 mins and there's a consultation at the beginning. There's never any rush; it's a very relaxing visit and I always get tips on how to groom my brows at home in between. I agree with one review below. Joey is warm and friendly, the studio smells delicious, it's clean, modern. However, the service isn't a $135 service, as I paid for. My eyebrows are thick and bushy and dark, making it a huge contrast with my fair skin - so you can see absolutely every single flaw. Joey cleaned my eyebrows, left them thick, as I like, but otherwise, nothing changed. Literally. MAYBE his services are better for people who really needs a complete eyebrow makeover - like, really, if your eyebrows are hideous. If they're ok, you're better of some other place that doesn't charge that much. I've had services as good as Joey in another eyebrow salon (plucking, no waxing, of course), for $50 - which is still expensive, but cheaper than $135. I also ended up buying a few things (I do agree he keeps talking about it, and he's so nice, that you feel trapped into buying at least one of his products), which I really liked. And he showed me exactly how to use, which is also another plus. BUT, again, $135 is way too expensive. I'd come back again and again, once a month, if he charged the $50 (or $60 at most) as the other place, but not for this price. read more

I feel like I'm going to get a lot of backlash for being the only non-5 star reviewer here! I visited Joey back in July as a first-time customer. He was super sweet about me being nearly 15 minutes late to the appointment due to delays on the subway/bus, and made sure I was comfortable and had a glass of water before he started. Like all the other reviewers have mentioned, I could really tell he was giving me all of his attention during my appointment. He did a very thorough and meticulous job, carefully explaining everything he was doing while working. Sadly, I was not blown away by the end result. I think it might have to do with the fact that he's not used to working with Asian brows, which tend to be sparser and not have much of an arch. I was pleased however, with how dedicated he seems to his business and with his products (the brow powder in tobacco and duo brow brush), which I will continue to purchase in the future. read more

Let me start off by saying... IT IS LIKE DREAM COME TRUE (that was the first thing I said to Joey- and it was the truth- when he finished my brows). I left Joey for the first time last month, walked to the bus stop on the corner.. and BAM I got a complement on my eyebrows. So it shows I was not even red or irritated, and I have the most sensitive skin. Anyways, I have been getting compliments ever since the bus stop incident. I found Joey on yelp and fell in love with him right away. All the reviews are so right, I need more Joeys in my life. He is a lovely lovely guy. So sweet and he has AMAZING SKILLS. ohh.. and more.. HIS PRODUCTS... amazing... I never used eyebrow filler powder. Well, now, I will not walk out of the house without using it. He showed me how to apply it and now I do not have to over pluck just bc I have a spot of hair that is missing. I was skeptical of it at first because I am active an always sweating. The great thing about his powder is that it does not smudge.. no matter how had you try. Yes, it may wear off, but it wont drip or move out of the lines if you try to smear it. I can wear it to the gym without any worries!!! His stuff that makes your eye brow hairs stay in place is also amazing and a life saver. I would NEVER EVER go to anyone else. I needed a shaping before a friend's wedding; my brows were unruly and needed some real help. Joey not only made them impeccably gorgeous, he taught me how to maintain it and showed me products that actually do what they're meant to do. Back when I lived in NY a few years ago and I was nervous trying to find a new person to handle my bushy brows, I came across Anna, who did such an amazing job! I loved my brow girl back home and thought she'd be hard to replace, but I have to admit I think Anna upgraded my brow game to new heights. My brows have a nice arch but are still full and natural looking.
