Fans of Spiros Psihos, who has been in the restaurant biz for 50+ years and managed nearby restaurants along US 41 with his late brother John, will be delighted to visit his recently opened Greek-style diner located next door to Flanagan's. This building is brand new and the dining area is plain-ish but bright and airy. Desserts are displayed next to the carryout counter, restrooms are accessible and immaculately clean, and the separate gaming lounge is cozy and inviting. The menu features all of the usual diner standards and the prices are fair. Everything we ordered was fresh and enjoyable. My Missus was impressed with her picture-perfect omelet. My Greek salad contained generous chunks of feta cheese and was exceptionally good. Our server was delightful. Unlike so many diners that close by 3 PM, Ella's kitchen remains open through dinnertime, making this a great stop for travelers heading home.

Stopped in Ella's for a little breakfast the other day. Was greed it with a friendly waitress would she sat us down and brought his waters and coffee. I ordered the bacon, eggs, hash browns, and rye bread and my wife ordered the blueberry French toast. everything was freshly made and very good. Service was fast with a very attentive waitress constantly filling our coffee. The restaurant was very cute and if you needed to try your luck they have a small casino with machines in the back.

There's a new Greek-style diner in town. We had a big family visit and everyone loved their food. Outstanding, caring service by Terry in a cute, crisp clean atmosphere. For more classic diner faire, we recommend adding tuna melts and veggie burgers to the already great menu for more options for pesca/vegetarians. Be sure to check this place out!

The tacos are good but I'm not a big fan of how the tortillas were made. They tasted a bit greasy. Otherwise great presentation and good value with the DoorDash deal. When you enter, it is a small place that has a few tables, the main counter/deli, and then a few slot machines. Depending on how many people are in line, it can take a while. There was only one lady working when I went, and there was one person ahead of me, and his order wasn't huge but took a while because of the variety of things they offer. I ordered an Italian beef quesadilla, 12 inch sub, and elotes. I like that you can choose any of their deli meats to put in your quesadilla, and they are not skimpy on the amount they put in, which is nice, especially for the price you pay for a quesadilla. The sub was my favorite. You can choose your deli meat and options to put on it. I've had the sub before because a place had gotten subs catered from there. That's why I went to see where this delicious sub came from. I should have stuck to the subs that was tasty. The elotes, on the other hand, were not. If I knew they didn't use roasted corn, I wouldn't even have ordered. The corn was soggy, and the toppings of mayo, butter, and chili powder didn't even have a great taste. The ingredients were there, but it tasted like nothing. Which is unfortunate. It's close to home, so I'd come back for another sub, but idk if I would get anything else. They do have horchata, but it's just the pre-packaged mix, so I didn't even bother to get one. They have the potential to be a good neighborhood spot

MEH I recently visited The Silo in Lake Bluff for dinner…read morewith clients; the staff are friendly and welcoming and the interior features old wooden beams, cement floors, and the like, suggestive of an old barn or farm outbuilding renovated and repurposed as a restaurant. It is very dark inside, even in the afternoon. My clients, before making our dinner arrangements, had told me they had heard good things about The Silo; upon reading various reviews posted online I had my doubts but since they were my clients, I did not say anything. Perhaps I should have done so. Although I arrived early, the noise inside was tremendous; there is nothing to absorb the chatter and it was very hard to hear my clients speaking, despite being at the same table. The table was clean...sort of. It had been wiped with a wet rag, and the surface was sticky and unpleasant; a good scrubbing with Murphy's Wood Soap would have made a tremendous improvement. Our server was pleasant and friendly; I do not recall his name. He was very young. I ordered a diet soda which came reasonably quickly; however, it was more syrup than fizz and I did not care for it. For $4 a well-mixed soda should not be an issue. My clients and I ordered a standard deep-dish pizza (I don't remember the toppings) which arrived in about thirty minutes or thereabouts. Well. The crust was delicious: hot and steaming fresh, with a wonderful flavour. The toppings were cold. I don't know how you order a pizza pie baked to order with a hot crust and cold toppings. Perhaps the crust was baked first and the toppings heaped on before servine. I don't know. The tomatoes were bitter and spoiled the flavour of the toppings. The meat was burnt and tasted bland, as though it had been reheated several times. I honestly can't tell you what the toppings were; they had no flavour and as I've mentioned, the tomatoes were bitter. Overall, The Silo features good staff, and that's about all. I don't recommend The Silo and I don't plan to return. MEH

The restaurant is so much bigger and livelier and were so excited to see all of their success. Definitely come early to be able to try their brisket and Tony Mac! "Old School" customer service, Hospitality and appreciation for our customers is key and loyalty goes both ways friends. I was very interested to try the food here after trying a couple items that were served at a friend's party. I asked to say Hi to the owner as a entrepreneur myself. They said they would be out shortly at my request, being my first time and spending well over $300 to try some of their dishes I was extremely insulted to see that the owner never had the courtesy to say Hello as I waited. In my world, "old school" customer service is success because without customers you have nothing. I also believe that you should always remember where you came from. The food was very pricey for the Area and not worth the disrespect I felt. After this experience I'll stay with Hecky's in Evanston where we are recognized, greeted by name and given a positive everything when I walk in by the owners Daughter, Gigi...RIP Senior. Hecky's is located North Shore with more than fair prices, above par food and traditional style barbecue. Big Ed's is in Waukegan and we paid double plus for the food and a very poor customer service experience ‍ along with overpriced barbecue and sides. I got lots of sauce for not enough barbecue. If I could have cancelled I would have but it was the first time and the last time. I asked one last time "What happened to the owner who was supposedly was going to say Hello?" They said he left through the side door because he was busy. His picture is on a large sign outside and this man was at Aldi when I stopped for apples on the way back home to Arlington Heights. Go to Hecky's in Evanston, Smoque in Chicago, even Joe's Barbecue in Hillside. Good Luck Big Ed!!!
