Got a hair cut here a few months ago. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice, but I think the prices are way too high.

Absolutely amazing service and my hair was fabulous! Definitely recommend Gjoni! The entire staff was super friendly and welcoming.

I was not happy with this place. Why: - We walk in and say that we are with a wedding party. The appointments were set up a while back by the bride. Instead of, "welcome, we've been expecting you!", we get "um, huh?". Really? - They quoted my friend (the bride) one price, and then they charged us another. My hair took all of 20 minutes to do and he wanted $85 when we were quoted $65 (still too much IMO). Bad form. - One of the bridesmaids that got makeup ended up paying $110 when we were quoted $75. Again, bad, bad form. I honestly don't understand this at all. It is unacceptable. - They offered me a mimosa - I said yes. It never happened. Just continuing to kill me here. I would honestly give only 1 star, but the people are overall nice. It's just that these things make this place very "meh". I hope that this review makes them think twice about what they quote and what they charge. I'm angry that I ended up spending $90 (including tip) to get my hair done for one evening. I had a good experience and a bad one. The good experience is that they did a great job on cutting and coloring my daughter's short hair. They took their time and it came out great. $200 and three hours later, my daughter was happy. I had two hair cuts myself from this place. The first was good and it cost me $85 ish dollars. Went back, had the same thing done again, and they charged me $160 for the same cut, same highlights. I asked why and they told me some people cost more than others. The second time, I also noted that they barely took anything off. (I have a short style hair cut) The lady said you can come back for a free trim-up within the next two weeks. The free-trim up was was not a 'free' thing because when my hair was in my face two weeks later they wanted to recharge me for a brand-new hair cut. (I just paid $160 two weeks prior!) I should have got it shorter the first time and stuck to my guns. It was my appointment and they were more concerned about the upcoming appointment than mine. My entire hair cut took 45 minutes from coming in to paying. The large concern that I have is that women are seemingly 'forced' to wear high-heeled shoes and they look very unhappy in them. Some are even wearing them quite pregnant. You CAN have the stylish look without the high heels. The staff stands all day. If they were men, they would not be forced to do this. It makes me want to find a place we're they are treating the female staff better. read more

I cannot give this place enough stars. My usual stylist was off for the holidays and I decided to go to a different random place to get a"brighter freshen up" blonde balayage for the holidays. I was specific that I wanted cool seemless tones and I walked out of the other salon w darker, copper and stripey hair! I was so upset. I spent the night researching the best place to get balayage or color correction and thank goodness for all the great reviews here I decided to trust them and send a message after hours to try to schedule a last minute appt. Marina called me first thing the next morning and squeezed me in w Nour the SAME day during the busiest holiday week. Nour spent 3 hours correcting my color. She listened to what I was saying and said " so what you want is a shadow root and color melt". (((open Gates of heaven this stylist just used Technical terms for what I had been trying to say in layman's terms for yeaaaaarrrs!)))) I was hoping to simply walk out w less stripes and instead I walked out w a color I LOVE! She was so patient and so focused on making sure I was happy!! I cannot recommend this place enough, especially if you're unsure about coloring your hair. They are so accommodating and focused on making sure you're satisfied that you will not waste one penny. I live in San Francisco, but when I come back to MI, I always get my hair cut by Gjoni. The salon is brand new so it's obviously super clean and very well decorated. This review is regarding their customer service. I called ahead and had the salon hold two bottles of Kevin Murphy dry shampoo. I came into the salon around 6pm to pick it up and walked up to an empty receptionist desk. There were 3 people around the corner with clients so I browsed their selection of products, walked back and forth multiple times between one side of the salon to the other, made eye contact with 2/3 stylists and stood at the counter for another 10 minutes assuming someone would come assist me. I never even got a "Can I help you?", "Hi", "Be with you in a second"...just blank stares as if they didn't want to make an easy $70. I walked out and drove home. It's disappointing since they are one of the only salons who carry Kevin Murphy in this area. I'll go to the other salon in Royal Oak and give them my business instead. In the past, I've purchased groupons for salons and have left extremely dissatisfied. I'm happy to say that after my recent trip to Elle, I'm beyond thrilled with my new color and cut. Gina was my stylist, and prior to starting anything, she asked what I wanted to have done, gave me her suggestions, and a price. She offered various treatments, and I picked exactly what I wanted to have done - no surprises. Everyone at the salon was incredibly nice, and it was a very relaxing experience from start to finish. I've only had my new hair for a few days, but I've already received tons of compliments. I will definitely be going back for future services. My only piece of advice would be to remember cash for tips! I'm used to using my debit card every where I go, so be prepared! read more

The services I received were good and my hair turned out nice, though I do think the consultation could have gone much better. Like a lot of other people out there, I am on a budget with many things which includes hair services. The stylist and I discussed what I had in mind for the color. When I called the salon to make my appointment, I was told the service would cost around $125 including the cut (which would have been an all-over color and some block coloring). I was shocked when I was charged $195! While I was happy with her work, I would have chose another route if she would have discussed the total price with me during the consultation. I did not expect the stylist to use the amount of foil to where she could charge for a partial highlight along with my original quoted price, as she did not state that she would be doing a partial highlight. I'm not trying to bash this salon, as they produce good quality work; some stylists seem to forget the importance of a thorough consultation. This is the only thing that prevents me from coming back for future services. read more

Very nice salon! They have been open 1 year now - it's clean and well organized. Marina did my hair - cut, color and deep conditioning treatment. She was super friendly and offered some great advice. They even serve wine! They use all Kerastase products and my hair feels healthy, light and clean. And smells good too. I have two small criticisms: 1) plan to spend a while there. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy relaxing and spending a few hours at the salon with a good book and glass of wine, this is just a warning. 2) Prices are a bit steep. If you want and expect good service and great hair you won't mind paying the price. Overall, highly recommended. read more

I've been delaying going to Gjoni because I was comfortable with my previous stylists, but now I wish I had gone to him forever ago! He gave me the hair I've been longing for for years! The ambiance of the salon is so relaxing and the perfect way to unwind while he works his magic on your locks. He made sure the color worked with my skin tone and also worked to effortlessly melt and blend highlights in with my natural color so well that I don't know where my natural highlights end and his highlights begin. The depth created by his highlights is something I've never experienced before. And with the cut - I've been trying to grow my hair out for awhile now. Instead of being stuck in a rut like many other stylists and only cutting it while wet, he dry cut it to preserve the length and not take off too much while cleaning it up. I really valued that! He really does what's best for the client who's in his chair at that moment instead of just following a process - that's true artistry. He is worth every penny! I previously gave Nour a great review. My daughter went to her for color and it was a disaster. Instead of getting a more natural color red hair color my daughter got the color red on top of her head and the rest of her hair looked very dark purple. I was in need of a good haircut with layers and framing. Before I went to Elle I had gone to another new salon to try it out and was not happy with the cut I received. I have thick hair and a lot of it, and the cut I got was too heavy towards the bottom, uneven, and shorter than what I intended. All the layers I had previously were gone because of the cut but weren't incorporated back in. I found Elle Studio by searching for other local salons online and based on reviews and the website I decided to email them about my haircut. Marina emailed me back and got me in for an appointment on the day I requested, and she listened to what I was looking for. Even though there wasn't much to be done about the length of my hair, she shaped and layered my hair the way I imagined and took the weight off the bottom. My hair is naturally wavy too so this helps a lot! My hair had its shape and movement back. Aside from this, the salon itself is beautiful and inviting. Everyone was welcoming and even my shampoo experience was amazing and therapeutic. This is my new place! read more

I went there for an all over color. I had dyed my hair blond and I wanted to go back to dark brown. They are extremely nice there and try the best for you to feel welcome. I really really cannot complain about the treatment there. I got home and I was not fully happy with the color and I went back there the next day and they were absolutely nice and had no problem darkening a bit more to please me. So, yes, I cannot complain about service, they do the best to please you. But a week (yes, a week, 7 days later) my hair had fully faded and was blond again. That's why I did not stick with them and why I am giving them a bad review. The only positive thing I can say about their dye is it did not damage my hair at all (my biggest fear) I was giving them the "benefit of the doubt" assuming my hair was a hard case, that's why I took so long to write a review. Then I went to another salon to get again it dyed brown. It has lasted 8 months so far. Elle cost: $140 + tip. The other salon? $70+tip. Price means nothing. read more

I stopped into Elle just to see if I could get my brows done, I am so glad I did this! Marina is an incredible eyebrow stylist! I have never been so happy with the way my eyebrows look! She only tweezes so she doesn't take off too much, and explains how she will shape them ahead of time so you know what to expect. She's wonderful! Easy to talk to and truly remembers her clients! Besides that brows are super affordable! It cost the same as any salon, but she is so detailed oriented and will never remove too much. like, WOW. This is the best hair salon in the history of Novi! Talk about a perfect haircut! Jamie is the best hair stylist I have ever met. She does such a great job with my hair. She pays attention to every detail and takes pride in her work. I love how the staff is so friendly and doesn't mock me for walking in with hair like Donald Trump, but I leave looking like Matt Damon. I have rated this 5 stars for a reason, but if there was one negative it's that the owner Gjoni is WAY TOO HOT. He looks like a foreign version of George Clooney... yes please! And I really love being able to relax there with a nice glass of red wine.. the best part is definitely the atmosphere, especially when Gjoni walks by in the tightest denim this side of the Mississippi, THANK YOU JESUS. This place is totally worth it, I drive to Novi once a month from Ann Arbor just to get the perfect cut and luxurious experience. let me start by saying I love my hair and after years of searching for a salon that not only cut my hair the way I like it but also styles, colors and is passionate about it I finally found my go to spot. I first went to Elle almost three years ago off a groupon I had purchased. Its a beautiful salon that makes you feel like you are at home by the fireplace with friends. I had an appointment with Marina (one of the owners) and instantly was greeted with such love that I felt like I had known her for years. I asked for trim and if they could work through the years of damage I had done to my hair by coloring at "cheaper" salons. She did such an amazing job I have continued to go back year after year. Not only do I get haircuts and color jobs done but I also go to get my eyebrows done and styles for events and weddings. Now when I go in I just tell Marina to do whatever she wants with my hair and I always leave loving it! Besides the passion and love for their company and what they do the main reason I go back is because I feel I have a family there. I don't think I have ever felt so much love from a group of people that I see every few months. Yes they are pro's at what they do but they are also the most genuine and wonderful people I have met in a long time.
