The Doctor doesn't have patience and is impolite to her patients, even to her own assistants. I don't know the reason of the bad temper.

Dr. Peng is my second dentist after moved to Bay Area. I had been with her more than 20 years. She is nice to me and my kids. my kids have no problem to visit her every time. She is restricted on how to take care teeth, then I have no problem with my kids on daily cleaning. They know they will be questioned if they don't clean well, this is absolutely big favorite to a mother. I am a mother of 3, sometimes I am very tired, want to be lazy, but I think about being questioned by her next visit, then I got up... Dr. Peng always does her best on every tooth, I would say she is very very professional. She is very very clean. I am same kind of personality. I know she is the one not comfortable first if anything is not done right. Recently I have to change dentist because I am facing financial difficulty. I changed 2 dentists, they are horrible. I have been a patient of Dr. Peng's for almost 15 years, and she is by far the best dentist I've ever had. Even after changing to an insurance that is out of her network, I continue to pay out of pocket because it's so worth it! She genuinely cares about her patient's oral hygiene and goes above and beyond just giving regular twice a year cleanings. Every time, she'll tell you what you need to focus on to get better, and she's pretty blunt about what will happen if you don't change your habits. When I came in this past week, she said she committed to checking every patient to see whether they were flossing and brushing correctly, made me floss in front of her, and told me how to improve. I had just been thinking this morning about how no one in healthcare or educational institutions is incentivized to promote good oral hygiene. During cleanings, she has also been the most detail oriented and thorough out of the three other dentists I have seen. With others, I feel like I'm paying to get my teeth brushed, but with her I know theres buildup in hard-to-reach places getting taken care of that I otherwise wouldn't be able to get to. It can be painful, but at least you know any pain is probably necessary (which is more than I can say for other dentists who are just rough on your mouth). Some other nice features is that she'll usually let you watch planet earth or some other movie during your visit, she's usually pretty on time with appointments, she'll remind you about your appointment the day before, and of course you get your free brush, floss, and toothpaste on your way out. For those paying out of pocket, she'll take cash or credit/debit/check, but the latter will be slightly more expensive, I presume to cover transaction fees. read more

On 03/02/2022, this is my first time to see Dr. Ellen Peng for teeth cleaning, when she saw my teeth, she asked me: did you brush your teeth every day? I replied that I do brush and floss 4 times everyday. She was surprised and asked me to use floss and brush my teeth at her office and I showed her my daily routine. She found that the way of brush and floss was incorrect and showed me how to do brush and floss. That day, I found she did a very detailed cleaning which I can feel. Dr. Peng needs to realize that patients are adults, not her kids. If we prefer not to take X Ray due to any reason, we should be respected. If our teeth need treatment due to any reasons, she should just do her job, instead of showing no mercy and giving us long face or bad attitude. She also can't be challenged. If you ask a question that she doesn't see eye to eye with, she loses patience immediately and responded with cold attitude. I am sure I'm not the only person who have observed all those and I do hope Dr. Peng can grow up, have better control over her emotions and learn to have better EQ. read more

My wife and I found Dr Peng through a friend's referral, and we've been going to her for several years now. She has been great - timely, efficient, and friendly. I really want to take a look at my chart cuz I'm always amazed at how much she remembers from our previous conversations that I swear she must be writing it all down somewhere! For this last visit, I noticed she's now playing Planet Earth DVD on the wall-mounted TV, so patients can have something to look at while having their teeth cleaned. None of my teeth have fallen out since I've been going there, so that's got to be a sign of a good dentist! Unfortunately, Yogurtland is just a few doors down from Dr Peng's office, and I'm not sure frozen yogurt is the best thing to eat after a teeth cleaning. But I guess it has to be. read more

After 15+ yrs seeing Dr. Peng, I realize it is "strictly" business! My family moved to East Bay few years ago and continued to see Dr. Peng. But the congested Bay Area traffic is making it hard to commute from East Bay to Cupertino. Last saw Dr. Peng in December 2017. Six months later, my wife got a toothache so she texted Dr. Peng for help. Unfortunately Dr. Peng was at a conference so my wife walked in to a local dental clinic and got it fixed. She knew we got help from another dentist. 2 weeks ago, I had a toothache so I texted Dr. Peng for help. She texted back and reminded me verbosely of how I didn't take good care of my teeth. I got no sympathy but this: "Sorry! This week is fully booked." OOOOOOkkk... My pain moved from my teeth to my heart, which hurt even more. The end of story. read more

My father just went here to see if he could make a appointment with Dr. Peng. But after waiting for awhile he was just told to leave and try other dentist because they were too busy to service him. This is absolutely ridiculous for any business owner to say this to his/her customer. read more

I finally figured out why I never have to wait over 5 minutes at Dr. Peng's office - she doesn't overbook! In my past experiences, I've noticed that many doctors & dentists tend to book 3 patients for one time slot since they usually have 3 waiting rooms or 3 dental chairs (or they book patients 15 minutes apart which is crazy & impossible). Today I noticed that Dr. Peng schedules each patient in 45 minute (or longer) intervals. This is plenty of time for her to dedicate the right amount of attention to each person she sees without rushing. This shows that she is more concerned about her patient's well being than she is money hungry. read more

Okay, here is the thing. Have you noticed the reviews are either 5-stars or if-i-could-give-zero-star-i-would. Um... interesting so let me share with you my view. Dr. Peng has been my dentist for the past 10 years. I don't have any dentist/doctors I have been going back to for this long. Her works on me including cleaning, filling, crown/bridge. Dr. Peng does quality work and she does not cut any corners. She is genuine and cares about our welfare. The bi-product from that is she gets straight to the point and she does Not sugar coat. She is direct. To some patients (personality), a softer communication style would work better. For me, I like getting right to the point, make an educated decision, move forward, and get it done. There is no question about Dr. Peng's work. So obviously, our patient-doctor relationship has been working well. Think about it and see if her style would match what your are looking for in a dentist. Give it a try as you see most patients highly recommending Dr. Peng. read more

Ellen Peng was once a good dentist. She worked on my whole family for 20 years. But when our dental insurance lapsed she demanded cash. I'm guessing to not pay taxes on it. I stopped going there all together but when I cracked my tooth. I asked if she could treat me. She was very rude and said she couldn't do it. Then I asked her if she can refer me to someone who can. She said to look for a dentist on line, basically telling me to piss off. You're poor now. This is after 20 years of my whole family going to her. I am not normal yelp user, but this experience is too bad so I have to share it. I went to Dr. Peng's office couple years ago. That's the nice and neat office. Since it's sort of far from my office and home, I chose another dentist in these 2 years. Recently I decide to go back her coz I remember her skill isn't too bad. When I got there today, there was no receptionist. And the assistant kept coming out to make call to patients saying they had wrong measurement on time scheduling and asked patients to reschedule other than today. And Dr. Peng came out to speak with one patient over the phone since he/she might have difficulty to reschedule. Her attitude was very rude when speaking with patient. I was thinking, ohoh, maybe I shouldn't see her. When it's about me, Dr. Peng went out to ask me when was my last time seeing dentist-very impatient attitude. I told her 6 months ago with another one. Then she started dialing insurance company # (which I already provided when scheduling the appt). She used the speaker phone in front of me and seems it couldn't go through. Then, she said, "are you sure you have this insurance and no change yet?" Her look and tone were I am the liar. I said, "I am very sure. Our HR told me so." She said, "oh, then I dial it again to let you hear." I responded, "I heard it. I have to check with our HR again, but I am sure it's this one." She looked at me again like asking me to get out right away without saying like, "sorry it couldn't go through", or "maybe you can check and give us a call again." I felt so bad and couldn't believe the service was so terrible. She didn't even say goodbye to me and acted like I might steal something from her office. She was the one who recommended Dr. Calvin Lee for me for a tooth implant and she never said I had to go there, she mentioned that she heard he was good...She always gives you options. Ms. Peng doesn't deserve any star! When my wife went to Peng's to fill the cavity. Ms. Peng applied anesthesia wrongly causing my wife's tongue numb for several weeks. When my wife contacted Ms. Peng for her malpractice, Ms. Peng just said it would take months or years to recover as she found out from her last patient. We cannot believe such inexperienced DDS can perform her profession. Please stay away from her if you can. read more

Her office seems to be up-to-date with current technology and she even has a DVD collection where you can watch a movie while she is working on you. After reading Dr. Peng's reviews, I was quite shocked. Maybe Dr Peng has many friends writing reviews for her, but there is no way she deserves her rating. I used to see her a few years back. She definitely has a bad temper and is unwilling to listen to patients. She gets mad (and I am not kidding) if you are unwilling to follow exactly what she wants to do on you, and her attitude gets worse and worse. I was also surprised that other reviewers said that she is never overbooked. It definitely wasn't like that a few years back. She likes to schedule you in regardless of how busy she is. When she is overbooked, she does a horrible job and rushes to finish her work on your teeth. After such a horrible experience at her dentistry, I will definitely not recommend her to anyone, and would advise people to stay away from her. read more

If you want regular teeth cleaning you can go to her place, but nothing more. a few years back, I was being told my left upper molar needs a root canal. She asked then if her husband, who is just getting his degree can perform on me. I accepted as I think, how bad could it be? it went really bad. the job was poorly done and I kept getting infection one after another. I am at the point I have to pull my teeth out and get an implant. I finally switched a dentist and he told me along with other teeth she said I need to get fillings on, my teeth are fine, and there were no need to get fillings or root canal. I am not sure if she just goes out and tell patients to get fillings done to get more business, but her poor practice really take a toll on my tooth. If you are not a professional, dont offer out your service to people and cause them pain and suffering later on. again, dont go to this place if you need any advance treatment. Been going to Dr. Peng for a while. She's always been very professional and friendly. She lets me know exactly what needs to be done. She also explains to me as she works on my teeth. I'm usually very sensitive to pain but whenever she gives me the shots, I don't feel much pain at all. She doesn't just jab the needle in like some dentist do. I have referred a few friends and co-workers to her and they have referred their friends and family as well. So far, I've only heard good things from my referrals. If you are looking for a dentist that is honest and will only work on things that are necessary (and not make you pay an arm and a leg for things you don't absolutely need) or will work with your budget to space out your dental work, Dr. Peng is the dentist for that. But, if you are into Pain and have $ to burn, there are plenty other dentist you can visit. read more

Dr. Peng is a great dentist. My family has been under her care for the past decade. She is thorough at her work that I feel my teeth alive every time after her cleaning. Dr. Peng is bar none the best dentist I've ever been to. I'm more sure of this now than ever as the dentist I see now is overly cordial, friendly, and otherwise NOT good enough, throwing rx fluoride at me where Dr. Peng would have come up with a treatment plan using actual dentistry. Dr Peng is an outstanding dentist. She was recommended to us by a friend. His wife was a patient, too and two other friends were her patients as well. My wife and I became patients of Dr. Peng's as well and we have been using her services for 5 years now. She is very experiences, has great recommendations and is never after your money. You only get things fixed if you really need it. Otherwise, she advises you how to take better care of your dental health and how to become more interested in improving it. The business is owned by her and her husband and they are doing a fantastic job. The assistants are good, too...My only problem with this place is that they keep changing receptionists and unfortunately they do not speak very good english. You can barely understand them. Place is stinking clean the smell of cheap chlorine. No privacy between the 3 stations available. DVDs are old. Everytime I go is a new receptionist, and new dental assistant. You can hear her yelling to all employees in front of customers. She micromanages everything up to the wazoo. Wait is average 30mins-1hr. Very hard to cancel and find a spot for another appointment, as long as a month. Have changed dentist since. read more

This was the 8th year we have been with Dr. Peng. I didn't like to go to dentist before I met her. She is a detailed oriented dentist who will oberve your facial movement and decide if she needs to slow down in the procedure. My kids love to go for the checkup and that amazed me. My 6-year old daughter couldn't wait to tell Dr. Peng that she lost a tooth last weekend. My 4-year old son just walked directly to the service chair. When my 7-year-old was two and a half years old, she went to a pediatric dentist to have some major dental work done. It was very traumatic for all of us. I decided to find another dentist for her and Dr. Peng was recommended by one of our friends. We've been going there since. She is very patient with both of my daughters (7-year-old and 4-year-old). She even suggested me playing games with my older one when she's giving her local anesthesia to distract her from the pain. Her office is a bit far from our house but I would keep going there for my children's dental care because that's the only dentist they feel comfortable with. read more
