My current dentist recommends to have implant on tooth #15, after the consultation with oral surgon, he mentioned the tooth has only 15% usage, so I decide not to do implant due to the cost. But the tooth needs to be taken out due to the crack. My current dentist told me that it would be simple task but he wouldn't do it. His reason was patient may change mind to do implant after tooth removal. Therefore I have to find someone to remove the tooth. It was a tough task since majority of tooth extraction work are done by oral surgon. I finally found Dr Wu, after check the tooth she agrees to do tooth extraction for me. It is a huge saving for me since my dental insurance only covers 50% of the cost. The work will be done next week and she also confirms implant may not be needed. read more

The reasons why I chose Dr. Jennifer Wu as my dental provider were that after a few years, I finally got dental insurance again back in the the middle of 2021 and upon looking for dentists located near the Sunnyvale/Cupertino area, she was rated very positively on Yelp. Also, upon checking out her office's website, I found that she graduated from the dental school that I used to work at for 11 years and my former supervisor was around when Dr. Wu was a dental student, which was a coincidence! When I first called the office, back in the summer of 2021 to schedule an initial exam and cleaning appt, I was told that I'd be placed on a waitlist and that I'd be contacted when it's my turn and that I was looking at sometime in Jan. 2022 at the earliest (mainly because all I had originally needed was an exam and cleaning - if it was something more pressing or an emergency, it'd be sooner). A few months later, I called to check where I was on their list and was told that I'm at a spot where I can schedule an appt, so I did and got to meet Dr. Wu and her hygienist, Charles, 2-3 months later. Each time I see Dr. Wu, it's always really nice to speak to her and catch up -- I don't know how anyone could ever fear or not want to be placed in her dental care, she's just so chill and has excellent chair side manners. Dr. Wu is incredibly quick & efficient when she is placing a filling, I was truly blown away at her speed in getting things done. Now, just because Dr. Wu is quick, it absolutely doesn't mean she's rushing through it, cutting corners, or anything. She is just very good and naturally fast at what she does! She'll check with you throughout the procedure. For the hygienists, I've seen Charles and Jenna, and they are both wonderful and gentle with cleaning your teeth! The last two times for my prophy appt, Jenna saw me as her pt and she's so pleasant to speak to! I thought it was nice that even after just seeing her once before and 6 months had passed, she still remembered that I was from HI! Dr. Wu's office is very chill and bright, there's ample natural light pouring in and the office is a nice size. The front desk staff are pleasant and during my times visiting, no one is rude and I've never had any staff giving me attitude. Even though it was a bit of a wait initially to get a first appt with Dr. Wu's office, after my few times there, I can tell you for sure that it's worth the wait and I 100% recommend getting your dental care from Dr. Wu and her dental staff! read more

So far only two minor dental fillings done perfectly 5 years ago. I wanted to mention I had a tooth infection three days ago and got taken care of by this dentistry very effectively:- The dental hygienist S. was excellent in pinpoint the area with X-rays, and clean out the infection area near the root of the tooth (you can say they got to the root of the problem). I'm now cured and pleased that I did not have to take antibiotics. Beside the normal sterilized instruments and equipments that you come into contact with, since Covid, they have added new air cleaning/filtration systems, new safety equipment and procedures. This review is long overdue. I have been coming to Dr. Wu's office for many, many years and unless I had a painful tooth that needed a root canal I was always looking forward to my appointment. Every single person is so friendly and knowledgeable and I totally trust Dr. Wu and her team. I never had anything bad to say except there was a scheduling mix up once, which can happen. I work at a veterinary hospital, so I know these things can happen. I am so sad that I won't be seeing her anymore, we moved out of state and now I have to search for a new dentist in Hawaii. I have been a patient of Dr. Wu for over 16 years (and for the record, the first patient to receive the crown from her 3D printer). Throughout those 16 years, I have seen Dr. Wu's dental practice grow considerably but nevertheless she and her staff have maintained their professionalism and warmth during every visit. I can freely admit that I am very uncomfortable at medical and dental offices. The thought of even having to go into any type of medical facility causes my blood pressure to shoot up faster than a Space X rocket. But thankfully Dr. Wu and her staff makes each visit comfortable and relaxing. For instance, if a dental procedure is ever needed, Dr. Wu goes out of her way to make sure that there is no pain especially for an absolute chicken like myself. Also, as other reviewers have previously noted, Charles has an extensive list of flavors which are available to each individual's taste. Jennifer Wu's practice in Sunnyvale is flawless. I started seeing Jennifer this year for some dental work (including an annoying cavity that ended up requiring a root canal). Not ever having a root canal procedure done before, I was, of course, a bit uneasy about it all. But the pain and annoyance that I had from that problem tooth was enough to push me into getting it taken care of already. Scheduling me in to get my full evaluation and root canal done was cake. They'll work with you to figure out the best times that work for both parties. It was easy to find time during my extremely busy work week to go in (thanks to the speed and efficiency of Jennifer and her staff). I'm glad to say that the root canal was a huge success. My teeth have never been happier and the worst part of the procedure wasn't the pain (because there wasn't any), but the fact that your jaw gets a bit tired from being open for so long (and your lips get a bit dry). It's expected though and Jennifer does a great job making sure you're always comfortable, getting enough breaks and that you're fully aware of what she's doing every step of the way. Oh yeah, the taste/smell of teeth being drilled is nasty, but some things you just can't avoid. :) Location is excellent for me since I live in Sunnyvale and work in Cupertino. The area is nice and the lot is large. There are actually quite a few other practices and a pharmacy in this lot. Consider it your one-lot health stop. Jennifer's staff is also a pleasure to work with. Both Jennifer and Kim (her dental assistant) are friendly and very gentle. Sometimes they're so gentle, I wonder if I'm going to fall asleep and start snoring away. ;) Linda (the office manager) is also very friendly and easy to talk to. She does a great job working with you on the scheduling and insurance/payment portion of things. Jennifer's hygenist is also an asset to her team. I've only met her once (still no excuse to forget her name), but she's also cool to talk to, gentle and skillful. I'd recommend Jennifer to anyone looking for a great dentist with an awesome practice. PS - regarding the post about the lack of a TV in the waiting area...A TV is always nice, but I've never actually had to wait over 5 minutes to get in. I think that speaks volumes to the efficiency of Jennifer and her team and also it shows that they respect your time. So far, so good. This is probably the first time I've ever found a dentist on Yelp, but after such a horrible experience with my previous dentist I knew I had to find my recommendations from outside of family connections and referrals. Dr. Wu's office made it very easy for me to make my appointment, reminded me to keep my appointment and ensured that I was properly covered under insurance for what it is I needed to do so on the day of my visit everything was already taken care of. The hygienist, Charles, was nice, very talkative, although I don't know that I like that a whole lot of dentists because you can't exactly talk back as they're trying to work on something in your mouth. Dr. Wu is very friendly and they actually take questions and encourage them. I found out so much about things I was doing that was right, wrong or didn't even know about. I enjoy learning about these things because I feel like if I am armed with knowledge, it's less likely that I'll be screwed over later. I can not ask for a better dentist! Dr. Jennifer Wu does exceptional dental work. Her bedside manner is both professional and caring. I also appreciate how clean the office is kept. I chipped my front tooth over the weekend. Dr. Wu squeezed me in on Tuesday & fixed the broken tooth the same day. I simply love her attention to detail and her desire to make my teeth beautiful. Too expensive. She is a good dentist but I can not afford her expenses. Plus I don't like these porcelin 3D crowns that may not be as strong as crowns made in the lab, and the procedure for putting a 3d crown is too harsh on gums. Go to Dr. Wu; you won't be disappointed. After moving out of the Bay Area we miss Dr. Wu's care. My wife and I went to her for more than 10 years and we always found her and her hygienist caring, professional, and friendly. We never questioned the care we received. Options were always provided too if we needed them regarding care. I see some one of the other reviews and I can say we never had a long wait - in fact, I was usually the one that showed up two or three minutes late and always wished I had more time to sit in a waiting room without my own kids and read a magazine for a minute. I went to Dr. Wu after all the stellar reviews at Yelp. Note that most of the stellar reviews are written by regular people, and their viewpoint is easily manipulated (just treat them well, smile, don't make them wait too long, etc.). While not waiting too long is nice, I think the #1 priority is getting good dental care. I found Dr. Wu's treatment to be overtly aggressive, i.e., she wanted to fill in a couple of cavities, wanted to do a root canal on another one, etc. When I consulted another doctor (a dental school faculty member), they quickly dismissed most of those suggestions. Instead, the filled up (instead of root canalled) the teeth. The dentist also mentioned that what Dr. Wu had done wasn't wrong, and that it was typical for private practitioners to be overtly aggressive. Please note - I am just suggesting that: 1. Read the yelp reviews and you'll find that they are written by patients and do not represent/indicate the doctors skill. 2. Please get a second opinion (true with any dentist). read more

I am only giving 3 stars because I am rating the office as a whole. I usually don't write reviews, but I feel compel to share my opinions about this establishment. *I really hope Dr. Jennifer Wu gets to read my review. Let me assure that Dr. Wu and my usual hygienist (I forgot her name, but she's a Vietnamese lady... and she is super nice and awesome!) are very professional and pleasant. The only reason I am deducting 2 stars is because of the front desk crew. I am a fairly a new client. However, all the 3 times I've visited the office and had my regular teeth cleaning, I had to deal with unfriendly staffs. They act like they are doing me a favor. Reality check! I am a client and I can go to any other reputable dentist office around Sunnyvale. They (front desk staffs) aren't upfront rude, but they are certainly unfriendly, both in person and on the phone. I really like Dr. Wu, my usual hygienist, and dental assistants and I want to continue getting my regular teeth cleaning here, but the front desk staffs are making me think twice. Updated Review: Previously I have given this establishment only 1 star (mostly due to a minor billing issue) but I felt compelled to update this outdated review. It wasn't the private message that I got from some random stranger named John Y. on Yelp stating how my review for this establishment was "a vehicle to vent your own frustration, which really makes this review a waste of my time" that made me want to update my review. If I am not allowed to put my review on my Yelp account to depict my personal experience, then why would I or anyone use Yelp? Isn't that the point? The reason why I felt that I had to update my previous Yelp review is because my wife just recently went to Dr. Wu's office for a standard cleaning. They treated her with so much kindness and care that I felt it was only fair for me to update my previous review. My wife, who is terrified of dentists, will ONLY go to Dr. Wu for any and all dental treatment simply because she feels very comfortable and at ease with her care, her staff, and her ability. Dr. Wu went over all my wife's issues thoroughly and recommended the best long-term & short-term solutions. From my own personal experience with Dr. Wu, I think she is definitely one of the best dentists I have ever been under the care of. I was very disappointed with Dr. Jennifer Wu's clinic. There are many potentially serious issues. Such as not doing the basics and only emphasize the superficial. Her clinic was too fancy, lots of talking, not really doing a good job of cleaning. After I visit her a few times. I went back to my original family dentist.. I used to visit our family favorite dentist Dr. James Kobayashi, he's the best! but his office is pretty far, 45mins driving from my place. So, after I had a baby, I need to find a dentist near by for myself and for my kid. I took my son to see Dr. Jennifer Wu twice a year since he was 2 years old. I noticed that he has a missing tooth on the bottom, so did Dr. Jennifer Wu, because every time before clean the teeth, she will count how many teeth my son has, but she didn't say anything, she just say he's great! Until I visit Dr. Kobayashi today, he counted and refer us to take my son to the kid's specialist for a x-ray, to make sure we know if the permanent teeth are okay. It turns out that many children with missing primary may have missing permanent as well. read more

I had to have work done before I left and totally forgot to make an appointment but her team squeezed me in and I got a crown completed in a day! Thank you to Dr. Wu and her staff! I've seen Dr. Wu for a year and a half now, but this time I requested Charles as my dental hygienist based on the rave reviews here. I didn't specifically request one with my first appointment, and saw a different hygienist the first 2 times. Although the other hygienist was very nice and to be perfectly honest, I found myself squirming more than usual in my chair and then she poked me the last time. On the other hand, Charles has strong, steady hands, and is absolutely the most thorough and technical hygienist I have ever met. They also use digital x-rays, which emit 90% less radiation, with no pressure to get them if you don't want them. He explained the x-rays, recorded two sets of measurements for my teeth, answered whatever questions I had about what floss or mouthwash to use. He actually brought out 5 different mouthwashes to show me and explained the benefits of each! He also has a special daily "menu" of polishes! I decided to go with the chocolate mint "chef's choice," and found myself wanting to eat my tooth polish. He also showed me how you're really supposed to use your Sonicare, and the wrong way. Most people, like me, apparently think you're supposed to swish it back and forth or swirl it around around like your tooth brush. That apparently can cause gum line recession, which you can never get back! And yes, he is very personable as everyone has said here. I felt very comfortable with him, although he's a big guy! And he's certainly a wealth of information. I hope he doesn't go anywhere! For Dr. Wu, she definitely doesn't pressure you to get things done you don't need in my conversations with her about a minor chip on my tooth, getting Invisalign and such. She comes across as honest in what she can do and doesn't recommend things you don't ask for or need. My last dentist was a bit weird personality wise, and came across a bit saleseee and admonishing at times. Dr. Wu and her hygienists are not like that at all. The front desk reception is friendly and professional. I was seen right away this morning, and got in and out pretty fast. The office itself wasn't as esthetically nice as I had expected, but they are moving next door to a newly remodeled office with more space. Parking is always easy to find, and it's quick and easy to setup an appointment. I also find the email and phone call reminders very useful. As for my insurance, I have Metlife, and I haven't had to pay out of pocket for anything as far as basic cleaning, x-rays and such. Strangely, I'm actually looking forward to my next appointment already! This is my dentist FOREVER. Well, until I move or she retires (left out I die or she dies to prevent from being morbid). Everyone at Dr. Wu's office is super organized, efficient, and friendly. I've been going to her for 2-3 years. My old dentist had moved to PA and I was working in Cupertino so I was looking for a new dentist. I did what all you yelpers do... I went here to look at reviews! At that time, she had great reviews so I decided to give her a shot. Little did I know, my classmate from high school has been going to her since she was in high school! As you can see, people really do stick with her cuz she does a great job. Recently, the gf just started going to the dentist again (after avoiding them for 5 years). After her visit at the dentist, this was our conversation. GF: OMG, I love my new dentist. I think it says a lot that I use her as my dentist, and then I had my husband start coming to her, and now my three kids! Dr. Wu is a great dentist. Since I'm the daughter of one (and previously, in my home state, had all my referrals from him once he retired), I can recognize one. She has the credentials, she has the equipment, she has a GREAT hygenist (Charles is fabulous), and she is, most importantly, *very* friendly and professional. She's worked with me through several problems--visits to endodontist (see my review of Penninsula Endodontics, they are great as well), a filling and, of course, my standard 6 month checkups. Through everything, her and her staff have been nothing but kind, helpful and professional. She takes the time to be thorough, answer questions, and give excellent dental care. For years I have been looking for a good dentist in the area and I think I finally reached my destination. Came here a couple of weeks ago for a cleaning, X-Rays and check up. Perfect front desk service, starting from scheduling my appointment to check in (no wait time!) and out and referrals. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, which makes your visit really enjoyable. My dental hygienist was Shayesta and she did a great job in explaining her work as well as the process itself. She was very accommodating while taking (yay for digital) X-Rays and made sure I was comfortable and knew about the procedures. It felt like she did an extremely thorough cleaning with much attention to detail. After that I checked in with Dr Wu, who discussed the X-Rays with me. Dr Wu took her time and paid attention to my concerns and questions. I felt well taken care off and her approach seemed rational and reasonable. Thankfully I did not have to get any work done with her, so I cannot actually speak to the dental procedures and her actual work. However my first experience was great and I am looking forward to get my half-yearly cleanings done here. read more

After a horrible experience previously with another dentist, I was really nervous. Dr. Wu was able to see me immediately and helped me through the situation with expert advice and a caring manner that eased my fears, and my pain!
