These people are crooks!!!! Stay away!!! Far away! They sold items for me at their Kiowa consignment auction and refuse to pay me for them! They don't answer the phone or return calls. During their horrible auctions one of their employees, a guy with no teeth and horrible hygiene keep bidding up on the bigger items, specifically to run up the prices. The guy can't afford to brush his teeth but can afford to bid on a dirt bike and tractors and cars??? They are a bunch of no good thieves. Don't do business with them! Run!!! read more

Sold me a "complete set" of trading cards with all of the good cards missing. When I asked them to ask the seller about the cards they claimed the sellers were dead. A 100% lie the sellers just moved. Do not trust this horrible man. read more

So, the latest. HOT CHECK! After being admonished for being disrespectful in a "consider this our last contact email" we received a check to make up short payment on the sale of our snow blower. It was returned "Not Sufficient Funds". This is the latest of all the other info detailed in our prior reviews. Considering the grief and aggravation involved in dealing with these people, we would have been much better off just donating the items to charity. read more

Dishonest. You will have a hard time collecting the money they owe you. Items you sell will get miss labeled or held back for another sale. Talk to owner about it and you still wont get your money. I have been waiting for months to write this review...why? Because that is how long it has been since I first dropped off my items to be auctioned there and I'm still waiting to be paid! They sold most of my items the first Saturday after I dropped them off. I stopped in the following week to see if I could get a check and they said they will process them the following week (2 weeks after they sold) and that they only mail them. By the end of the next week still nothing so I went back. They said they were a little behind and they were making them that day. Another week later still nothing (mind you I live in the same town so a check should take 2 days at most). Week after week nothing and my weekly visits turn into weekly phone calls because I feel uneasy going back there. About a month after I first consigned my items everything had sold so there was no longer an excuse of "waiting for all your items to sell". Each week I talked to Lori and she kept assuring me they were sending it that week. "We were waiting for all your items to sell, we had an auction out of town, we got behind because we were busy". ....etc I'm writing this review on a Monday, the mail just came and nothing (3 months later). She promised me she just mailed it when I talked to her last week. Well I've had enough. I decided to write this review now and file a claim with the Better Business Bureau. I never told them this, but I use to be a very successful professional picker in Arizona and I fed many of the local auction houses every week with items. I could always pick up a check the following week and never had any problems. This auction house is a joke, full of junk and has an auctioneer who sets his own prices on items. If the bids don't get as high as he thinks they should be he just passes it (and gets angry). The other trick I see they do is run the bids up themselves, if they get stuck winning it you can bet it will be back in the next week's auction. This is why they have a motorcycle on their floor that has been there for months. They think it should sell above blue book value. I also noticed that when it comes to smaller items, like coins, that the employees will often win the bidding. They have all week to research the items and if they see it will sell below what they can get on eBay then they buy it. I'm sure they make more money doing that then at their actual auction business. Am I upset? YES, but coming from someone with a lot of experience with auctions I say don't waste your time here. I have no doubt that in time they will run themselves out of business. I could go on with this review much longer (I haven't even mentioned how the auctioneer encouraged me to bid my own items up if I wanted to). Final words... STAY AWAY read more

I just bought a bunch of stuff via their online auction this past weekend and would never buy from them again. It was all junk! Not just junk but filthy junk! Looks like it has been stored in a barn for years and was nasty with layers of dirt and grime and some with water damage. I should have known better considering they don't put a description of the item in writing but just a picture. Wasted my money and wish I would have given to the poor instead--especially this time of year. Do not buy from them!!!! read more

I attend several auctions each month at various auction houses around the Denver metro area. I live in Castle Rock, so finding Ellenbergers was great...I thought. The owner/auctioneer Scott is one of the worst in town. His practices are terrible too. He routinely goes out of his way to belittle the patrons telling them they are too cheap, or that his goods "must be too good for them" This last Saturday, 12/6, I attended the auction. As usual, he was visibly 'pissed off' that bids were not up to his ridiculous standards. During the 'furniture' portion of the auction, he passed on several (maybe 10+) items in a row due to no one wanting to bid what HE felt was the minimum price (i.e he wanted higher bids so HE could make more money), and at that point, he threw his hands up, and over the speaker told us [paraphrase] 'if you're not willing to pay-up for these items, we'll just shut it down and you all can go home empty-handed...I'll give you a little bit of a deal, but not a steal'. Isn't the sole purpose of an auction to sell items for their precieved value? The old saying that something is only worth what someone else will pay for it, right? Not here. Top dollar or nothing. I went out that same day and hit several garage sales just for fun, and found dozens of comprable items for $1 and $5 price tags, that the auction wouldn't accept a starting bid of $50 on...it just doesn't make sence, especially with so many other great auctions around town. Don't waste your time or money with this one; you'll get twice as much for half the price at just about any other auction in town, or the swap meet for that matter! To be fair, I do rate it 2 stars instead of 1 due to one single policy at Ellenbergers: anything with a plug has a 7 day return policy if it doesn't work propperly. This auction house had our estate items for more than a year and only sold a few items. We knew the value of the antiques and they simply gave everything to charity that they didn't sell instead of giving it back as we asked. They ripped us off for thousands. Do not trust them. read more

I only selected one star because you can't pick zero! Received only partial payment for a load of antiques and collectibles I contracted with them in August 2015. Since then I have received nothing but excuses, run around and now, silence....look out Kirwin, Kansas....they are scheduled to do two auctions there at your Kirwin Community Building....shame on you if you buy from these people, who have little regard for those of us in Colorado who trusted them with our stuff...... read more

I am taking Roni M.'s advice and have contacted the Denver BBB, the consumer protection line with the 18th judicial district DA's office and will be taking these people to small claims court. They owe us thousands of dollars REFUSE to communicate at all and of course, refuse to pay us what we are owed. I've had enough! read more
