What a hidden gem! Georgia was our waitress and she gave us an awesome first experience. Their Philly cheese steak is on point! They import the bread from Philly so you're in for a treat. Hubs really enjoyed it. I got a basic yummy breakfast of 2 eggs, sausage, wheat toast, and grits. Kids got pancakes that were as big as their heads lol they enjoyed it as well. This place delivered on the basics and their service is immaculate. Pricing is typical but a bit high for some of the basic breakfast items. My eggs were done great and the toast was perfect. We tried Ellie's because it was halfway between our house and a friends that we are meeting for breakfast. It's located in an industrial-ish strip mall with plenty of parking. When we arrived, we didn't have to wait and we're seated at a four top immediately. I ordered the special which was a ham and mushroom omelette with cheddar cheese and opted for the house potatoes with it. The boys both had the hash skillet. The food was brought out pretty quickly, but mine was very overdone, but the hash skillets looked good and were devoured. This is definitely a no frills, breakfast spot, no Memosa and no bloody Mary... But if you're looking for a quick and inexpensive breakfast spot away from the tourists it's not too bad. read more

We come here weekly on Sundays it today we decided to come on a Wednesday for lunch. Let's just say we won't be doing that again. The server completely passed us many times as we waited for 10 min. Then proceeded to take another party instead of us. I am very upset with the service. The lady with glasses(Ms Brenda )and refuse hair didn't even look at us. Skipped my son and I . I have been a very generous tipper over the last 5 years but today I am upset. As a matter a fact I am so upset now I don't even want to eat my plate. It's the principle. Ellie's Breakfast is situated off of Racetrack Road and one the few food joints you'll spot for a couple miles. They have a diner aesthetic which includes booths, tables, and a breakfast bar. I opted for the breakfast bar thinking it'd be easier to checkout if the server was directly in front of me. The menu they offer is quite sizable and the prices are on the lower end which are perks for a lot of people. The restaurant had maybe 3 other groups of people and was nowhere near capacity. Ellie's was supposed to be a quick stop for me on the way out of town due to the Hurricane. The food was alright, definitely edible but lacking depth. Great for a quick meal, but it's nothing to write home about. My bill came to about $14. When I ate enough of my food, I took my card out and requested my bill. My server left again for 10 minutes or so even though I placed my card down immediately after she placed the bill, as an indication that I would like to leave. Their service is not for the weak of heart. This restaurant unfortunately was participating in tip gouging and had the options for tip set at $5, $10, and $15 during Hurricane Milton. I was so disappointed in the behavior but ultimately ended up selecting "custom tip " and doing 10% tip on my little $14 bill. read more

We randomly decided to try Ellie's for breakfast and we will definitely be back! Our sever Dayani was extremely pleasant and upbeat. I ordered the french toast topped with fresh bananas, powdered sugar and a side of sausage. The French toast was fluffy but not overfilling and bananas added the perfect touch. I ate every last bite. My boyfriend ordered an egg combo which came with 2 eggs, sausage, toast and fresh fruit. Everything was delicious and you can't beat the prices. I took my son here for a casual breakfast on Friday morning and I left fairly satisfied. Orange juice didn't taste as sweet as fresh squeezed and they refused to cut baby's pancake, but when I saw it was shaped like Mickey Mouse, I could see why they traditionally opt not to cut. Cute but not fun for me. Unfortunately he barely ate any of it which may have been because it was cooked a little long (was more brown) on the bottom. I had the western omelet which was a little too ingredient filled for me to fully enjoy but it was yummy enough. So let's just address the elephant in the room. Why is this restaurant in a weird business corp strip mall? I have no idea BUT I don't care because the food is amazing. This restaurant gives off big NJ diner vibes. If you know you just know. The home fries were amazing, crispy and cooked to perfection. The rye toast is buttery and truly a slice of heaven. They also have pork roll which it's a breakfast delicacy. The owners mother bakes fresh cakes for the restaurant which means new flavors every week dependent on what mom is in the mood to bake. What a freaking surprise! Who knew such friendly service and tasty fair would be found within an office park! It's not very far from where I live, and I only discovered it when the place I plan to go to we shut down. I question whether it was an accurate location based on the address, but lo and behold it was certainly ones I went on a weekday morning and was able to park right in front. It was probably 60% full which spoke well for the meal to come. I recommend you, check it out! read more

Found our diner!! We have been in search of a good diner in the area for a while now. Most of them are chain restaurants and/or you overpay for breakfast. We found what we were looking for in Ellie's. They are only open for breakfast and lunch and do not serve alcohol (true of most diners). Our waitress was very nice and quick. Breakfast for our family of 5 was served in less than 10 mins. The food was great. They have a build your own egg white omelet and turkey sausage and also egg beaters if you are looking for healthier options. They made our son's pancake into a Mickey shape and he was delighted. Took a chance and went to Ellie's for the first time. Wait time was reasonable and when seated we had water and coffee served. Our waitress took our order and in about 10 minutes we had food. I had asked if they did basted eggs and the answer was yes. I was in heaven with great eggs and the Bacon was crisp and country fries good, could have been a little more crisp. My wife had scrambled eggs and French toast. Eggs were perfect and French toast was good, a bit soggy. We met the owner as he brought ou food out and found out he was from Philadelphia. Bob from New Jersey across the river, we had a great chat. Our waitress Diane we found out was from Chicago and she and my wife had another great chat. Overall the place was packed, service was great, staff friendly and food was overall Great. This is definitely a family business that rates a 4.5 stars. We are going back again for sure! read more

We don't live in the Tampa area but Ellie's was near where we were and looked like a good place for a quick lunch. We were right! It's not fancy inside but bright and cheery and welcoming for families. The menu is a cross between a New York Deli and a 1950's roadside diner. There will be something for everyone. We split the patty melt. This was an exceptional specimen. The hamburger patty was thick and juicy with good flavor. There were plenty of nicely caramelized onions and a tasty sauce. We had ours with French fries. They were crispy and nicely cooked but not greasy and no weird seasoning. Curiously, they were an extra-cost upgrade from potato salad. Never mind. The prices are very reasonable. We plan to come back next time we are in the area. Fair warning. If I like a restaurant I almost always give it five stars. You won't be disappointed. Obviously a regulars spot as well & I see why. My bf & I ordered the NY Strip w/ onions, eggs, hashbrowns, toast & the Greek breakfast wrap, no tomato or onion. Both super tasty & we actually should have shared. Both big portions & inexpensive for the quality & quantity. Right next to Tampa Bay Downs so excellent for horsemen & for parking a horse trailer. This place is tucked away off of race track. I have passed it many times and seen it among office buildings but had never been. Finally a friend of mine and I checked it out and it is a hidden gem! There's plenty of space inside and let me tell you it was packed out the whole time we were there. So it may be hidden but it's no secret. My dining buddy and I decided to hit this place based on recommendations from local friends, some of whom are from southern NJ. 1) The cheesesteak is to die for. Delicious roll, fresh cheese and onions, outstanding steak. Did I say delicious roll? Yes, and fresh too. 2) The French Toast. Amazing, exactly as it should be.
