Cheese pizza reminded me of an old neighborhood spot. Steak and cheese calzone was good. Worth the ride.

Really good pizza and service overall. Their pizza is crispy, full of flavor, and always hot. The garlic strips are also pretty great as they take a small pizza, add garlic and oil and then cut it into strips which is much better than traditional garlic bread. I'm just passing through so I don't know how much this will matter to locals, but--I was happy. We checked into a hotel tired, hungry, & grumpy, so I looked for something nearby. We ordered 3 pizzas for delivery. For a Friday night, they delivered super fast (about 45 minutes). The crust was amazing on 2, a little soggy on the Hawaiian, but pineapple has juice so what can you do? Topping ratio was great, sauce was tasty, and cheese was satisfyingly stringy. I've heard great things about this place so i was excited try it out, but ended up being very disappointed. The pizza options were great, but the quality and service were unacceptable. We called to place the order for cheesy bread and a large Bianco Pizza and the woman on the phone said it will be ready in 30 minutes. I ended up coming within 40 minutes instead and there was one other person in there. She asked for what I ordered and the staff proceeded to talk in confusion about where the food was or even what we ordered. She then looks at me and says it will be ready in 3 minutes. I then see the cook start making our pizza and cheesy bread... Another 15minutes goes by, then our food was ready... for one pizza and cheesy bread it took an hour, which i felt was sort of excessive (especially when it was not busy). When i got home I opened the boxes and the cheese on the pizza was not even melted and the pizza was not fully cooked (cold). Also, The cheesy bread was quite literally just a cheese pizza with no sauce. The front desk staff member, seemed apologetic when i paid but overall was very upset with my order and the disorganization. I ordered a pizza from here the other day. The pizza was not bad, it was not great either. This is a chain I've passed by for years never got the oppertunity to stop in. Finally got a chance to get one in. My pizza was very neutral. Very generic tasting like it was made with a conventional pizza oven. It was nothing special. I really DID NOT get that coal fired taste or crunch as in such like a traditional bertuccis pizza.. which isn't that great either , story for another day....that made me just a tad bit pissed...as "coal fired" is DIRECTLY IN THE NAME OF THIS CHAINS NAME. So.... I punished the score accordingly. Visually it looks like a pizza that SHOULD BE great....but just ended up average run of the mill. Maybe good enough for that area. We have strict standards over here... Chain should put all other food on hold and restructure pull FULL FOCUS ON THE PIE....... The food wasn't good, the cheese fell right off of the pizza. A super tiny pizza for $20 is beyond me. The service was even worse. The lady up front seemed confused and bored -0 for customer service. Major attitude and lack of professionalism. If so many individuals have complained about this women then why keep her employed there ? I must say, this is the first place I've ordered a pizza and took home the last slice i didn't eat,; it was really good! I wanted a good pizza, so I asked I asked a few Facebook Friends and they recommended this place in Peabody! Lately, the last three places I ordered a cheese pizza with extra mushrooms, I couldn't even see any at all, maybe thinking they would be hidden under the cheese, but I didn't taste any either! Most places either burned the pizza, or it was soggy. Could it be I'm fussy? When the pizza came out of the oven, it looked really delicious and with lots of mushrooms! This was a good sign, plus it was crusty and cooked to perfection! Love at first bite! The place is mostly a take out place, but I managed to find a comfortable spot and enjoy the Pizza! The menu looked pretty good and since I only went there for pizza, I didn't get to taste the calzoni that looked pretty good! I will definitely return to try the calzoni! read more

Worst Italian sub I have ever ever had. Absolutely no meat... it's like one piece of mortadella and two pieces of pepperoni with provolone, not even worth eating... Every time I'm in the office I stop here for the lunch special. That special is 2 slices and a can of Soda for $7 and change. The 2 slices are huge. Half a pizza it seems. I always leave full. The type of pizza is thin crust Italian. Not a Greek style pizza. Every time delicious. Eating in is relaxing. It's a nice comfortable atmosphere. read more

Sad to say our run with Plum Tomatoes has ended. There is simply no consistency with the new ownership. We ordered 3 pies, was told 35 minutes. We arrived in 40 minutes and was told it was it would be another 5 minutes. We then watched them make our pizzas and put them in the oven. one pizza was a 3 topping pie - but wouldn't know it to look at it. Hopefully the new owners can work out the bugs but unfortunately we won't be back. read more

pretty good pizza but definitely could be better. sometimes the slices are completely cut unevenly.one piece will be a quarter of the pizza and another will be half that slice. I used to love this pizza but recently it has tasted not so special. the sauce is very good. the bottoms of pizzas have too much char flakes from the oven it's concerning health wise. read more

I got take out here recently ! I ordered the Nero sandwich on homemade focaccia bread and a small salad ! The sandwich was delicious the bread was really yummy and for only $10 and the salad was $5 ! I got there in 10, fully planning on waiting, and my pizza was already done so I paid, the people there made some weird comments about me asking for ricotta to be added, and then I went home and ate my very cold pizza with massive fucks if raw garlic. Was in the area and decided to check Yelp for a good place to eat. This place had a lot of good reviews so here we are. You enter a plaza with plenty of parking, so it's on a nice Main Street. You go inside with a feel of a vegetable market. We walked in and they greet you. There's a lot of pizza options, but we decided to go with a different route and order steak n cheeses. After ordering we sat down to see our food in a matter of minutes, pretty quick. The steak n cheese was seasoned very well ,different than the other steak n cheeses we had before. Decent portion with a lot of steak to surely make you full. Food - Great steak n cheese sub, enjoyed , quick, nice workers. Definitely coming back to try the pizzas Great job guys !!!! read more

I live right down the street. I've aways considered Plum Tomatoes as one of the best authentic Italian Pizza. My last 2 visits were disappointing. In particular, a calzone demonstrated that the concept of a calzone is apparently unko9nown to the "cook" at this restaurant. I've had much better from the frozen foods section at Shaws. After querying the store, they finally admitted (after about 5 months) that they are under new ownership. In my opinion, Plum Tomatoes avoided publicizing this fact in order to continue to benefit from the stellar reputation of the founder, Pasquale DeLeo. I bear the new owners no ill will. Perhaps they will do better. But I won't be back; there's a plethora of pizza restaurants within 3 miles, even 3 within walking distance. Some are excellent, some are average. But all are better choices than Plum Tomatoes. read more

A quick glimpse at the Yelp rating led us here. Located in an older strip plaza, upon driving up we were surprised that it was more of a takeout spot vs dine in (guess we would have known that had we read some of the reviews) but that's ok, were up for an adventure! We were immediately greeted warmly by a gentleman who was making the pizzas and we said we'd take a moment to peruse the menu as it was our first time. A young lady who was working with him warmly acknowledged us too. My friend and I decided to order a large pizza with one half of their DeGiordano (veggie) and the other half meatballs and caramelized onions with a Greek salad and two bottled waters. We helped ourselves to the water in the drink cooler and seated ourselves. The nice young lady brought our salad over in a clear takeout container with two paper plates. Fresh romaine, calamata olives, green peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions with the crumbled feta and Greek dressing on the side. Nothing to rave about but the salad was fresh. It took maybe 15-20 Minutes from the time we placed our order to when our pizza was ready. The young lady bought the pizza over to us as well. Generous size slices, the veggie toppings were all fresh, not frozen. Ample cheese and toppings. The outer crust was very crispy but we've found at most places that the moisture in the veggies usually makes the middle of any crust a little soggy. As we were eating, we were chatting with the gentleman who was very personable. He said their crust is homemade and the quality of the cheese they use is first rate. Evident of both as we didn't leave there feeling like we had a heavy meal or feeling bloated. 5 stars for friendliness, 4 for value and pizza quality. 3 for restaurant ambiance (a bit dated and could be more tidy). To be fair, this review is only for the pizza. The Good I've been going to Plum Tomatoes pizza since 2017. I use to drive by it all the time, then 1 day I noticed a sign in the window. "2017 Winner, Pizza Fest, Best Pizza in Peabody" That sign got me to stop and buy my 1st Plum Tomatoes Pizza. I bought a 16" pizza and it was delicious. Really good quality and very tasty. So good, that I never went back to my previous "go to place" for pizza. The Bad Like everything else in life nothing lasts forever. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the quality of the pizza has reached rock bottom. I was able to overcome being told my pizza would be ready for pickup in 25 minutes. I always show up 10 minutes early so I can get it hot right out of the oven. More often than not, when I arrive it's already out of the oven cooling off. I was able to overcome pizzas that were not even cooked completely. The cheese was slightly melted but the sauce was cold. I was able to overcome pizzas that had blackened burned pieces of dough from previous pizzas embedded in the bottom of my pizza. I was able to overcome pizzas with uncooked toppings. Green peppers, onion etc. A green pepper and onion pizza shouldn't be crunchy. What I am not able to over come is all of the above as well as 16" sub par pizza that's no longer 16" in size. And is more $$$. After each of my last 2 16" pizzas, I was amused at your attempts to make a smaller, maybe 14", pizza look like a 16" pizza. Both pizzas which were bought a week apart , were close to 16" in one direction but only 14" in the other direction. Oval shaped. A 16" pizza should fill a 16" pizza box. Not even close. It hard to reach the top of what you choose to do in life. But it even harder to stay on top. I will gladly pay a premium price for a quality product. You've lost your way. Hopefully It may not be too late. I wish you luck on your continued journey but my family will not be along for the trip. ps Ditch the 2017 Pizza Fest Winner sign. It's not a good look for your business when you have a 2017 Pizza Fest Winner sign still up in 2022. In plain sight, that sign is telling everyone that you haven't made the best pizza since 2017. You're making it easier for potential new customers to keep on driving past your business. As I drive by often, I'll be looking to see what the next sign says....... Pizza Fest Winner 20?? Stopped in after a botched publicity stunt a major franchise had pulled (Szechuan sauce). After being disappointed, I realized that my money would be better served being spent on a small business. In a world of Morty's, I decided to be a Rick (everyone else stayed to order from said place). This day, I was quite please with that decision. The Verona Chicken was light yet delicious with the prosciutto, I had never been thrilled with tomatoes until I tried the ones on this sub. The tomatoes were sweet and delicious, a little bit of tang to it. It was awesome. While waiting for the order I got a slice of pizza, it was pretty good. Not usually a fan of thin crust, but this was good. Picked up a sub for my wife. The place is a little small for eat-in, usually get take out or deliverey. The staff are always pleasant and are very nice. This is a go-to in Peabody. read more
