** Patty Melt review**…read more I'm not in the habit of reviewing chains, but because I do love and review patty melts, I'm making an exception. -- Patty Melt: It's apparently using the inside-out bun technique, where the curved side of the bun is on the inside, touching the burger. Or rather the cheese, of which there are two slices to a single patty. So that's the exact same ratio and same basic contents as their "Little Cheeseburger" (single patty), and not coincidentally, it's the same price. The difference is that they griddle the outside of the bun, adding more butter flavor (70 extra calories worth), but not to the point of crispness on my visit. I was expecting some griddled onions in there, since they're standard for a patty melt, but it wasn't meant to be-- just bun, patty and cheese. That cheese is extra gooey, like a grilled cheese sandwich, and seems to dominate the beef. Not bad by any means, especially for this type of place, but I'd hesitate to call it a patty melt. I'd be better off just going with the little burger or the full-size one. -- Fries: There were a LOT of fries in the bag, probably 30% more than what I'm used to at this place, though it's been a while. Good combination of crispy and bendy, and well salted to overpoweringly salted, depending on the fry. Potatoey, but a little less potatoey (and a little less impressive) than in the past. Still better than any fast food fry, and yes, better than McDonald's. This place isn't going to scratch my patty belt itch. There's still plenty to like here. The counter servers are friendly and exhibit more energy than your typical fast food worker. There's still free peanuts. And there's still the Coke soda machine with the near-infinite flavor combinations. The fries are arguably worth a trip in themselves. And there's the tried and true (if not exemplary) standard cheeseburger.

GPH Burger: A well sourced blend, made into a patty of good thickness, grilled over an open flame, and housed in a potato bun with a generous allotment of toppings. Beautiful presentation, and most importantly, the flavor of the beef came through, never getting lost. You can order pink or no pink; I went pink, and on my first visit they nailed the temperature, color, and juiciness to go along with the crusty exterior. Good seasoning, and very enjoyable grill flavor. One of the best burgers I've had this year. Tried it again on a second visit, again requesting pink, but: a) not pink or juicy, and b) no flame grill flavor. Still a decent burger-- mostly because the addition of some nicely chewy and very strongly cured bacon picked up some of the slack. Third try, a repeat of the first, so two out of three ain't bad. Smashburger: Solid enough, though not as pronounced of surface crispness as a proper smashburger. Fries: Hand-cut, plentiful, dark, crispy, and just droopy enough. There's no salt on the table, but these were salted perfectly. Ketchup is an off brand, with a little more tartness than the standard, but it worked fine. Onion Rings: The thick ring, thick batter kind, and very crunchy. All depends on whether you like that style. Hot Dog: The menu lists them with fries included, but if you're already getting a burger, you can add one on without getting the extra fries. Toasted New England flat-sided bun, very juicy, grilled wiener, and toppings you can choose. Chili is a $3 add-on, but note there are beans included. I enjoyed mine and would get it again without the chili. Wings: Went Buffalo once, somewhat crisp, somewhat tender, nice sauce, with spices and seasonings, but not what I'd call Buffalo and not much coverage. These are baked, then fried, so missing a little something.went sweet chili on the next visit, and these were closer to the listed flavor and a little closer to wings that quench a wings craving.

So a mixed bag of flavor and texture, but overall, good. -- True West Burger: Sort of a thick burger, sort of a brioche bun (closer to a better, fresher McDonald's), with vegetation significant part of it. Choice of cheese. Cooked to my requested medium rare, yielding juices. Overall, good burger for its class, though for $22, maybe it should be compared with classier ones. -- Fries (included with the burger): Frozen, somewhat artificial tasting, and a coating of some sort that held in the heavy dose of salt (like pretzel sticks), as if salted even before frying. -- Beers: Plenty of styles and plenty within each style to choose from. I really enjoyed my peachy Pit and Peel New England IPA and liked the Ruckus as well. Service was outstanding. My server Mariana was outgoing, very familiar with both the food and drink offerings, and checked back often. This was probably the determining factor for this tossup between 3 and 4 stars getting nudged to the 4. If it were an option, more of a 3.5. And if you're similarly torn, having some of the best ice cream in the state a few doors down afterward at Westside Creamery might tip the scale for you (literally and figuratively).

We were a group of 5 and ordered 3 pizzas. Everybody agreed they were bad. They should be ashamed to serve these. Didn't anybody notice leaving the kitchen they were unservable? So I would never consider here for take-out. But we were here for trivia night so maybe I'd try again to have something to eat while playing? But next time if they come out like that I'd be refusing delivery and demanding a new one - that's for sure. As far as the trivia, I might not return for that either. The room was very loud from the crowd, and the announcer's microphone never did work properly so it was very hard to hear. And, knowing how many good wines and beers they sell in the general store on the first floor, it is painful to have a choice of just 5 very generic wines upstairs. The mojito I had was fine, but expensive at $12 a pop. Overall I will never spend my money here again. Our movie date night ended up costing me $130 with everything together and it is not worth that money for not being able to finish my food. If anything I would recommend Market Basket down the hill and avoid the stomach ache.

We started with cocktails, arugula salad and bread service. Everything was fresh and bread was yummy, drizzled with honey butter. For our mains, I had the tuna poke bowl and my husband had the pork Milanese. The tuna was fresh, over a bed of perfectly cooke rice, avocado, edamame and lots of healthy goodness. My husband said his pork was as good as his German Schnitzel! I really love the small pours of high end wines. I had a Barolo to wrap up my meal. She proclaimed the salmon the winner of that cake battle. For desert, which we didn't finish either, was the berry cobbler.
