First, Alekos replaced the condenser in our OLD Carrier A/C in July of 2024, which was installed in 1981 ! When our OLD system started making strange noises in July of this year, they came out again and said we needed a NEW HVAC system, which they installed on 08-01-25, after four days of no A/C ! We had Ariston replace three furnaces (two with AC) in our home September 2021. This review reflects two years of use and service. We have been impressed by a number of factors, but primarily communication, responsiveness, and support. Alekos came to visit and assess our needs. Was very patient discussing options and pros and cons. Pricing was a little more than others, but clearly offering a better product. Communication and follow up after the initial visit was excellent. There were some issues with initial installation which were addressed immediately and to my satisfaction. On the day of inspection, Alekos came personally to make sure everything went smoothly. We have been very happy with the performance of the system. However, I think the real strength with Ariston is the support and responsiveness. We had one issue about a year later. I called and it was addressed without delay. Owner came himself to address. I had another (unreproducible) hiccup this year, and again, they came out immediately to assess the system. They came in with a competitive price on a premium brand. Ariston Heating & Cooling installed a Mitsubishi MSZ-WR on my 360 Sqft ADU. It was a clean installation with wires and tubes run neatly along the wall. The installers consulted me on placement of the unit inside and outside. The installers were very professional and polite. The installer was very meticulous and didn't rush to install but still finished quickly (6 hours including lunch and testing of the system). He also has a more junior installer with him. As much as I like to support family run businesses, this needs to be said about this company. I called them to get my furnace evaluated after i got an error message while trying to install my nest thermometer. After a few attempts during normal business hours, I was able to get through and scheduled a visit. Although the employee was friendly and courteous he said the issue was that the control board and transformer was fried and needed to be replaced. The damage: $1600. Something felt off since the furnace was working totally fine before the nest install. I called another HVAC company who came the next day, laughed when I told them what I was told, and literally fixed the issue in 30 minutes... free of charge!! Look, I can understand if there was an error in diagnosing the problem, we all make mistakes but this was a bit ridiculous. My advice to everyone would be to seek out multiple opinions regarding your hvac system. The most frustrating thing about my encounter with this company was that it was impossible to get in touch with them. I called over 10 times over a span of a week to request a detailed receipt for their initial service and as well as a quote to replace the furnace entirely with AC. I left 3 voicemails and 2 emails with no call back or email response. read more

Michael and Alex - the business owners - came to our job, took detailed measurements, talked with us about the products and recommendations for sizing and equipment and then installed all new ducting, a heat pump and air handler. The workmanship was flawless, done in a timely fashion reasonably priced and very cleanly installed. All city and county inspections passed perfectly, and the inspector even mentioned what a nice job was done. The project was completed under the owner's watchful eye and works perfectly. AC repair. Would use these guys again. The sales rep who called back was only 1 of 2 companies who would ballpark the potential problem based on a specific error message. This indicated both confidence and expertise. They charge a diagnostic fee, and that's credited against the repair cost, which is reasonable. [Even though I had a specific error message from the Nest thermostat, other contractors declined to provide feedback and would only quote a diagnostic fee to come out. Some of those diagnostic fees were in addition to the repair cost.] A tech was available same day as the sales call back (timely). Call ahead confirmed the appt time (professional). Face mask and shoe covers were in play (health). Had a couple issues that were each traced, fixed, and confirmed working (competence). This ensured the whole system was functioning as opposed to a partial fix (results). Questions were answered along the way, and conversations were friendly (info). Clean up of the work area was offered, but since it was Friday, we opted to do that ourselves (finishing touch). read more

Since my home is built on a slab with half of the house with exposed beam ceiling, the only solution is a heat pump mini split system. So I called on a Wednesday, next day Thursday an estimator arrived (exactly on time), I accepted the bid and the installers came next day Friday (again exactly on time). Everyone from the office person to the estimator to the installers were completely kind and professional. In what world does this happen? I had a very positive experience working with Ariston Heating and Cooling. They are responsive communicators and return phone calls promptly. I never had to call them a second time which was a wonderful change from our previous contractor. Their staff are patient, skilled, polite, professional...I just can't say enough good things about them. I never got the feeling that they were rushing to complete my job so they could move on to the next (another welcome change!). At the same time, they completed the job in a timely manner. There were some minor, unanticipated issues that came up. Ariston promptly corrected them and stuck to the original quoted price. We got several quotes to install a Mitsubishi ductless mini-split system. Ariston was the lowest price yet still higher than I was planning on spending. I think this is a result of an overloaded construction industry that ultimately stems from the pandemic. All said, the system is beautiful and turned our hot bedrooms into sleeping refuges. Review of Mitsubishi mini-split: This thing is awesome! Incredibly quiet both indoors and outside. This was important for us since we live in a dense neighborhood and want to maintain good relationships with our neighbors. I love that the system does not cycle--It continually adjusts its speed to maintain the temperature. This avoids the periodic startup noise common in traditional systems. Note: I highly recommend the ceiling-style head units instead of the wall-mounted ones. Not only does it give the room a much cleaner look, but the routing of the cooling lines is much less obtrusive. They do cost more, but this change will most likely be forever so best to get it right. read more

We were in the middle of a renovation and discovered a water heater flue pipe in a wall that was coming down. So I was looking for someone to re-route the pipe. I sent some photos to Ariston, and they gave me a great quote and had their team on site within a couple of days to perform the work. My home had a 25 year old heater and we wanted to upgrade to a more efficient new gas heater, or an electric heat pump. I contacted 4 HVAC companies with good ratings and got pricing for both, including upgrading our old asbestos ducts with new ones. Michael and the Ariston team had the most competitive quotes, and they also installed the best HVAC brand per Consumer Reports (American Standard). Given the Bay Area air quality problems, I also went with a high-end air filtration system that was hospital grade. The crew was on-time, efficient, and considerate - kudos to Alekos and his team for being so professional. After it was installed, the independent test found that it worked with high efficiency and I received a city permit shortly after for our new system. I couldn't more highly recommend Ariston - they are excellent, the best. read more

Sad to be the one breaking the 5-star streak here, but my experience of Ariston really could not be worse, and warrants a review. Basically they held me up for a month citing stock issues, and when they finally came in for installation, they "discovered" additional duct work and attempted to up the price by another 6k! When I told them to pack and leave, they did so, but left the basement doors wide open, which I discovered 24 hours later, at which point rats already made themselves comfortable in my basement ducts. Thank you Ariston! Here's the full story: They came to my house for a site visit, looked at my HVAC and panel, and followed up with a quote. So far so good. They told me my heating unit would need to be rotated sideways to fit the coil, but that would be no problem. The quote was neither too high nor too low, middle of the pack. Given the good reviews, I decided to go with Ariston. When installation day approached however, I received a call informing me that the AC unit that was advertised to me was out of stock. I was given the option to wait 2 weeks, when it would come back in stock, or go with a more expensive model. I opted to wait. This already cost me 1 more heatwave without AC. However, the unit did not come into stock for another month (+2 more heat waves of 100+ F). On the day of installation, the crew showed up and proceeded to look at my HVAC system. Shortly after, a member informed me that "most of your ducts are metal", so they would need to be redone, which would cost another 6 thousand $. I thanked them for wasting my entire summer and said goodbye. read more

Before we needed any actual service, we'd connected with them for a consultation on a furnace question. Even though we weren't getting any work done with them at the time, Eric was super helpful and totally non-pressurey in letting us know what our options were. A short while later when our aging water heater kicked the bucket, we turned to Ariston immediately. We had them replace it with a tankless model and they did an awesome job and were so lovely to work with. Before, during, and after the water heater replacement, Eric was a constant source of support and he kept us informed every step of the way. When another contractor we were working with at the same time was cutting corners and treating us like crap, Ariston went above and beyond to help us get an adjacent issue related to our gas line taken care of. Eric also handled all of the City of Berkeley's many hoops with grace, patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor. We were actually sad when our project ended since we wouldn't be able to talk to Eric anymore because he's such an awesome dude! Owning a home is often a pain in the neck: Things break and need fixing all the time. Many if not most contractors are total sheisters, ripping you off and making you feel like crap every step of the way.
