My husband and I evaluated three vendors around the area in great detail and despite Chill coming out slightly more expensive than others, we felt they were the most thorough and comprehensive during the consultation (and the many follow-up questions I had). They were also able to squeeze us into their busy schedule so we could get AC before the heat wave! During installation, they ran into several challenges with placement of the new unit and some wiring that needed more attention. They worked through and around them to make everything work out in the end. I really appreciate their flexibility and expertise to navigate all the roadblocks without changing the scope of work. Chill is a classic example of the type of business you should avoid. A repair guy (named Vik) came by to look at my AC system. He said the problem was the starter and said he could fix it for $460. While he was fixing it, I looked up the price of the part. It was $25. He was here for only 15 minutes. After the repairs, I asked him how much of the $460 was for parts and how much was for labor. He said about 50% for each. I then let him know that I found the part for $25. He responded that he doesn't buy the parts himself. So I paid $25 for parts and $435 for 15 minutes of work. My central air conditioner stopped cooling. I didn't want my family to suffer in a hot house, so I started contacting the top rated companies that service my area. I called a few places and got AI bots taking the call and the response was "we have received your message and someone will contact you". I called Chill and got a live person! The person I spoke to got all of the trouble details name, address, etc. That was at approx 8:30am. The call window was 10am-noon. I was at work at the time, so in my stead my wife interacted with the tech. Vik showed up at my home at around 10am, diagnosed the problem quickly. We had a great experience with Chill Heating and Cooling. First off, I had a total of four different companies give me a quote to replace our existing Furnace & A/C units. Chill was the second to arrive and give us an estimate. At first glance when comparing the numbers they gave me to that of the first company, they seemed way off and too cheap to be real. After getting more quotes, Chill remained the lowest price; however, the cost for some of the other companies came in somewhat close. Upon closer review of the contracts, the type of units offered by Chill were much better. A clear difference and made the price look even better! So we signed up and set our appointment up for the next week. We had to move the date since we felt the timing was terrible (expecting 90° weather when the following week was going to be 60°). They moved the appt with ease, even setting it for the following Monday -- on Memorial Day! This was something they offered and I jumped on it, since I was planning to work from home anyway that day. The day of the install went as expected. No issues arose; although, for the guys in the attic I think they would say they had to make some unplanned adjustments -- no complaints to myself or family. All three workers were extremely kind and respectful. They arrived at 9:20 AM and were out before 6:30 PM. Before starting work, they laid down tarps along the hallway (where the entrance to the attic is). They placed all of the old furnace/AC equipment out in front of the house, but cleaned it all up and packed it into their vehicles. They swept up most all of the leftover debris that fell from the attic space and gathered all of their tools. Upon exiting, one of the installers walked me through how to setup the Google Nest Thermostat. He was very patient and waited to ensure the system was fully functional before leaving (used a thermostat gun to read the temperature on one of the vents). read more

My A/C stopped working mid-morning on a very hot day. I called Chill and they arranged to have a tech visit late that afternoon. I watched him trace the problem. He started on the outside unit and it tested fine. Then he tested the insite unit and it tested fine. He then tested the thermostat (via bypass) and that was not the issue. The left the wire from the inside unit to the outside. He traced that and found a problem with it and resolved it. He also checked the temperature of the air coming out of the vents and it was very good. He only charged their minimum service call fee (great price) and I was back to a working AC during a hot spell here in Walnut Creek. read more

Chill offered to repair the unit, including recharging the system, but I was concerned that it would just be a waste of money since the AC would probably fail again soon. Chill then provided a couple of reasonable estimates to replace the AC and explained the pluses/minuses of each option. Decided to go ahead with a replacement. I think Chill Heating & Cooling (Chill HVAC& Refrigeration) is a very dis honest and unreliable business. My experience with them was very negative. As they are doing a price gouging which I believe it to be against the law. Based on the reviews here, I contacted them to provide me with an estimate to replace my old furnace. Kevin Sent me the estimate on March 4th. We had a few emails and texts back and forth which took Kevin a few days to respond and provide information about the installations and details of the new furnace. I approved the installation on March 12th which was only 8 days after the estimate was provided. To my surprise and without any explanation, he raised the price by $3700 for exactly the same furnace and exact same installation. I was astonished and very disappointed because his explanation was that the price increase was due to "new politic of our government" which I absolutely do not believe because a few days before, he texted and said that they had a few of the these furnace in stock and they could install it as soon as I approve the project. Wonderful service!!! I called late Thursday and was able to schedule for the next day, Friday, to come over to help me with my refrigerator. They came out in late August and spent 5 min looking at our refrigerator and confirmed it was not working. They mentioned that it would be pricy to fix and they would get a quote to us. We were charged over $90 for this 5 min visit where the technician confirmed what I had already confirmed... the unit was broken. We reached out via email and by phone multiple times (6 times all together), where we were told that a quote would be over to us within the day. It has now been over 6 weeks and we have not received a quote. We feel very scammed by this company that we were charged over $90 for them to spend little time confirming what we already confirmed on our own and no follow up after.
