There is no one better than Don. Simply put, he's the only one in the business I trust. He's not going to B.S. you into spending money on something you don't need. I had two different AC companies this past summer tell me I needed a new furnace and AC system because I had leak in my system. Cost would be over $20K. Don came over and found a small loose gasket which was leaking gas, which somehow the other two companies missed after being here four times , and possibly even intentionally caused (I was also charged over $1K to refill the puron gas multiple times). We used Don/Air Design for the first time back in August 2019 when one of our AC units was not working. Don replaced the capacitor, was and is responsive, trustworthy, experienced, and a good communicator. During the July 2024 heat wave, our second AC unit suddenly stopped working on a Friday afternoon. I reached out to Don that Friday evening and by Saturday morning 8 am, he had replied. He arrived by ~10:15 am Saturday, diagnosed the problem, replaced the capacitor, and the unit was up and running and generating cold air. Twenty five minutes later, he was paid, the job was done, and we're again happy and comfortable in our home. Friday at 5:20pm on our first real heatwave of the summer, it's 98 outside and I notice that our AC has stopped working. I troubleshoot all I know to do and can't get the condenser unit to kick on. I look on Yelp and start calling companies, desperately trying to find someone who can come ASAP as it's supposed to be H.O.T. all weekend! I called 9 places and either leave a message or found out they don't work weekends. At 5:59pm Don from Air Design calls me back, asks a few questions and offers to stop by on his way home...TONIGHT...on a Friday night! He arrives 15 minutes later, throws his mask on, grabs his tool bag and within about 5 minutes determines what the problem was and 15 minutes later gives us a clean bill of health and fixes the problem! I ask him a few questions about the health of our system, as we just bought this home 20 months ago...get his business card and at 6:45pm the temperature in our home has started to go down and it won't be the miserable H.O.T. weekend it was about to be! All because there are still small business owners out there that actually care about serving their community and treating people how they would want to be treated! In July 2021, they installed a new Trane 2 ton AC, 3 ton furnace (in the attic), and thermostat. I am grateful to them because they are responsive (they pick up their own phone, (vs an answering service)), helpful/quick (got an initial appointment the next morning), honest (have told me if a) nothing is wrong b) repair costs/vs likelihood it might need another future repair or c) reasonable replacement estimate ), clean (they wear booties and masks inside, and bring drop cloths), knowledgeable and prepared (has noticed technical issues that needed fixing, and had extra lighting prepared when our attic light was dark), customer service oriented (Don went the extra mile to lend a ladder, since we didn't have one, and be there for the permit inspector), and professional (Permit passed; Job got done well and on time). Our furnace was making a loud noise and I called Don. He came on a Saturday and identified the problem. He gave an approximate estimate of the part and said he can call the parts store on Monday and give an accurate cost. Since both my furnace and a/c were installed in 1998, they were nearing their end of life and I discussed with him the cost of replacing both units with more energy efficient units. He gave options for single stage, two-stage and variable speed units. He did not put any pressure on selecting any of the options and still left the option of replacing just the broken part on Monday. I mulled over various options on Sunday and told him that I will replace the old units with a 96% efficient heating furnace and a 2 stage a/c. He asked me to think over the variable speed a/c also for an additional cost $2500/- After some more research I said yes to variable speed and Don ordered it on Monday. It would mean replacing my Nest thermostat with a high end Trane thermostat for which the reviews were not great. So I changed my mind and told Don whether we could go back to the 2 stage a/c. He was kind enough to change the order and ordered a 2 stage a/c and installed it on Thursday. Both he and Jess did a very professional job. They found a way to squeeze a larger size evaporator coil under the furnace that will improve the SEER rating of the a/c unit. I am very pleased with my interactions with Don and the work ethics of both Don and Jess and I highly recommend them for any HVAC work. read more

Don didn't ask me to write this, but it's the right thing to do. I have to agree with my fellow reviewers. Don and Jess are absolutely great. Don's quote was so much better than other quotes, I actually called him and asked him if he had made a mistake. I literally saved thousands of dollars by going with Don. I showed one of the other vendors the quote (though they didn't know it was from Air Design Heating & Cooling), and that vendor told me, "they're offering you a better product (Trane) than we're offering you, at a lower price... I'd go with them too if it's real." It was definitely real. Don and Jess were on-time, delivered the product in a professional manner, didn't try and upsell me other services, etc. And Jess, his installer, was great too. Clean, professional and more than fairly-priced. When they uninstalled the AC units, it caused the fans to run non-stop. Don and Jess came back and worked the problem for 2 hours, eventually spending almost 30 minutes on the phone with Nest to isolate a flaw in the thermostat's backplate. Once the replacement parts came, Don installed those for me too. No extra charge. In closing, I will turn to Don and Air Design Heating & Cooling for al my HVAC needs going forward. Don fixed our furnace 2 years ago for peanuts compared to one of the "Service (fill in the name)" outfits that want your money more than properly fixing your problem for a fair price. Then, Don came yesterday 1 hour(!!!) after I called him about my AC that stopped blowing cold air. He fixed it quickly for a price way under what I thought it would cost. He even turned down a bonus I wanted to give him for responding so quickly and doing a great job for a low price.
