One word.. Impressive. From start to finish it was a great experience. I wanted to replace my ac unit / furnace since it was 22 years old. Last few years, the ac would sometimes turn on and going into this year, I didn't want to worry. I booked Smart on-line and it was really easy. Michael came by and he checked the current setup and explained what needed to be done to replace the unit. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Granted this was my 4th quote so I knew somethings. He never pressured me to purchase but i decided to pull the trigger to have him do the job. The rate was competitive but it was his knowledge and being personable that I made me feel comfortable to have him do the job. The replacement happened the following week and his team took all day. Michael went above and beyond making sure the job was done right and replaced a wood piece to my attic that he didn't need to do, but he did. Very nice. I talked to Susie at the office and she made sure I was aware of the next steps for the HERS test and city permit visit. Our (now-)previous 16 y/o Rheem HVAC system started showing it's age recently, so we decided to replace it (for that and other reasons). Despite being improperly sized and installed by a different company, it had a good run. I switched to Smart Heating and AC for our servicing and maintenance a couple years ago, and have been so happy with them, I knew they were the ones I wanted for a new system too! They are always on time, professional, knowledgeable, and come with such honesty and integrity, and for the install of the new system, nothing was any different. They installed a new Goodman Heat Pump system + new water heater, and all their work was so cleanly done, and you can see much of that from the included pictures. They put in a nice new air-handler breaker in the garage where none had been before and patched up that (and similar) wall-work so nicely. They also went above and beyond and also added new Intermatic surge protectors at both that breaker and the breaker for the outside heat pump (the part where the shining green LED is coming from). They added extra straps too + wrapped and taped up the new ducting so cleanly as well. There was a lot of suboptimal (to put it nicely) work done by the previous system installers, which they corrected. It was a lot of work going from a traditional simple single stage gas furnace and single-function outside AC condenser unit to a fully communicating variable HEAT PUMP HVAC system, but they finished after about 9 hours, and the system has been fantastic so far since! It was also nice going from a janky "behind the wall" in-the-basement MERV 8 return air filter setup from the previous install job, to a properly-installed under the air-handler MERV 15 system, which will result in a massive improvement in air quality (& filter change convenience). The actual outdoor heat pump is about 1/2 the size of the previous AC condenser unit, yet does both heating and cooling functions for the home AND is also very quiet, about 1/4th the sound level of the previous AC condenser unit it replaced. Plus, the inside temperature is now just a solid stable temperature throughout the house, whereas there would be much larger swings in temperature, especially room-to-room before. It also came with a super nice, full-featured, cloud-connected thermostat with a great app to control everything so easily from anywhere. In short, so far we are thrilled with everything about the install work AND new system! I want to end by giving a huge shout-out to the fantastic Smart Heating & AC employees who worked so hard and with such skill to do such a beautiful, clean, and solid install of our new home HVAC system: Jorge, Jesus, Ricky, & Benny are all amazing, and we are grateful to you all for all your hard work on our behalf. It definitely shows, and the system is running great and is such a huge upgrade from the previous system. They also were respectful of the home and cleaned up everything great before leaving! Zero complaints, only compliments and gratitude for all of them! Mike, one of the owners, who did the initial consult and design of the new system was also amazing, so knowledgeable, personable, with such honesty and integrity. You can instantly tell he's just a good guy who always just strives to do right by his customers, including by adding on some of his own above-and-beyond guarantees about the system and their install, and not just the manufacturer warranty. I'm so happy I found Smart Heating & Air Conditioning, and am confident we will continue to be taken care of so well in the coming years by the entire Smart team. Having this type of confidence is super-important when it comes to your HVAC system & water heater. You don't want to wait 2 days or have shoddy repairs that shorten your equipment lifespan, for instance. These are significant investments and critical functions for the home. This is a trustworthy company that I'd use again and again. I was quoted by another company that was sent out by the home warranty company. The other company claimed that there was a rodent infestation and damage the connector cable. The repair for that was $950 and because it was caused by the pest and Therefore not covered by the insurance. I was almost ready to pay for the repair. Then, I thought I should have a second opinion by a more reputable company. I searched on Yelp. Smart Ac has the best ratings and charges only $50 for a site visit. I am glad that I found them. It turned out I was being scammed by the first company and there no Rodney damage at all. Just a tripped cable that was disconnected. I scheduled an appointment to have my heating and A/C checked out since the system was roughly 2 years old, ( bought through Smart heating and air) their website makes it easy to schedule an appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 0800-1000 hrs. E. Ramirez was here just before 0800, he introduced himself and was very polite, I told him about a little issue I had found with the system and he took care of it along with the system tuneup. Ramirez was here a little over an hour. I can't say enough. So far everyone I have encountered from this company has been great, friendly and professional. I called Smart Heating and Air Conditioning to see if they could service our HVAC system. Raquel answered the phone and immediately made me feel comfortable. Last year we bought a new HVAC system and have yet to get it serviced. Raquel was patient when I told her that the company that sold us the system hasn't been responsive to provide the maintenance service. She explained the maintenance process. She said that the manufacturer warranty could be voided if they provide service. She was super helpful and educated me on what path I should take moving forward. I let her know that it would make me feel comfortable to reach out to the company that installed our unit to not void the warranty. Raquel understood and asked if she could take down my information in case we wanted their service in the future. She was so professional, nice and totally sold me on wanting their service in the future. The heater maintenance service they offer is around $80, which seems like a good value. If the rest of their customer service is anything like Raquel's, I highly recommend you use this for your HVAC needs. read more

Update: I'm about a month or so behind in getting this out, but felt it necessary as to be fair deserving for staying the course to make things right. After several attempts to get the matching threshold (that was damaged) for the hardwood flooring, it was finally fixed properly. This was not the heating company's fault - it was sourcing to right color/texture. I think most companies would've bailed. Mike (owner) took personal responsibility to make sure it was done right. Unfortunately, you don't find this quality much today. I trust that these missteps along the way are learning tools to mitigate these types of issues in the future. My tech, Christopher, was prompt, professional, courteous, and above that; HONEST. I'm an engineer with a background in electronics. When my furnace failed I downloaded the schematics for my unit, broke out my tools, and started troubleshooting the issue. My conclusion was that the main blower had failed, and I relayed that information to Christopher. After he took the time to carefully diagnose the issue he found that it wasn't the motor, but a different component that cost half as much to replace. read more
