I made my reservation at Elliott's on Feb 3rd for a Valentines Day dinner with my wife. My wife and I went to Elliott's for the first time this evening. Its Valentines Day and dinner reservation was at 5:30pm. We were seated in a cramped 'table-for-two' in the already 'tight' Bar Section of the restaurant. It was 'loud and riotous' there and at times I couldn't even hear my wife speaking to me from across the table! I ask the waiter if we could move to any other table outside of the Bar area of the restaurant, since there were many empty tables available at this time of the evening. After checking, he said the manager told him 'No'. I was ready to leave, but my wife didn't want for us to turn around and go home on Valentines Day. She had really been looking forward to this dinner date! So we stayed. The food was good, but very expensive considering our seating location. The Bar atmosphere completely negated any positives about the meal. Our waiter, Nick, was great and apologetic. I wanted to speak to the Manager, but he/she was nowhere to be found. Hopefully, our negative experience this evening will help others to be extremely cautious when making any reservations at Elliott's on Linden. The service is great I remember I went there with my mom and dad and we had a great time and I ordered the salmon, now my dad definitely makes the best salmon but this salmon it wasn't really that good it was pretty dry and not that much filled with flavor. I have never been denied seating - until now. I was looking forward to the "farm to table" experience they advertised. However, even though we called in advance to make sure we did not need reservations, we were told upon arrival that they were full and could not seat us. Huh? It was on a Monday night and lots of tables were open. I could not help but wonder if it was a case of our attire or maybe demographics. We all had on slacks and collared shirts - even though this is a golf town, and a casual look is often acceptable. I asked to speak to the host in private. After telling him what I do for a living (faculty member of a university in Virginia teaching classes in hospitality, tourism, and event management) and expressing my concerns, he offered to seat us. I declined. Damage done. I wrote an email to the owner - but as of now, I have not had a response. Very disappointing. read more

The food is great, the staff are friendly, the drinks are decent. The "seasons fashioned", their take on an old fashioned was fantastic. We also ordered a blood-orange take on a mojito that we agreed was not very good. Mint and lime where not apparent really at all, nor was orange, and it tasted more like a carbonated sugary, fruity cocktail than a mojito. However, if sugary drinks are your thing, this may be just for you. The gnocchi and the shrimp and grits appetizers were the best dishes we ordered. I honestly think you can order them as an entrees if you aren't insanely hungry. We also ordered the scallops which were very good but the rich flavor of the shrimp and grits and gnocchi overpowered the scallops. For entre I ordered the salmon special cooked on a cedar plank. It was optimal in size (we didn't get short-changed with a meager filet) and the flavor was sweet and tasty. My only criticism about this dish is that the sauce overpowered everything on the plate so everything became candy sweet. It would have been nice to have some sort of savory relief with the bed of potatoes and vegetables below the fish; however, they became sweet, too. We also ordered a veal tenderloin with crispy pork belly special wich was a large portion of meat and very tasty. The apple crumble is quite good, especially since it was equal parts apple and crumble. The bread pudding was far superior, though. However, I'm not a huge apple person so your mileage may vary. If you're in the area, I definitely suggest visiting this place. We will return. read more

Nice ambiance for a special dinner out. The waitress was wonderful. My husband had the elk for the first time. He loved the flavor and tenderness. I had the salmon with spinach and fingerling potatoes. It was light with bold zesty flavors. The highlight of the meal was the goat cheese cheesecake and chocolate torte. Our waiter was outstanding and very helpful, the food was incredible (especially the Elk) and the wine list was awesome and very affordable. We ended up getting the spicy clam chowder which was an appetizer special and it was super tasty! I loved the location and the decor also. It was a little pricey (about $150 for alcohol, 2 apps, 2 entrées and dessert) but it was well worth the money! I will be going back very soon and have been recommending it like crazy to friends! It's been a while since last my Wife and I have returned to this restaurant. We had several-just so so meals in the past and we're apprehensive about trying again . We always felt the menu was interesting but for the price expected a better experience. However, we were told it's been wonderful as of late. I was excited to see the food options which seemed interesting and enjoyable for all food types. My wife loves a good cab but found the wine by the glass menu to be a bit limited. For dinner She chose the duck with butternut squash and farro casserole tangerine demi and my I chose the chopped salad with filet minion. My Wife's dish had three small pieces of duck nicely prepared but the farro was a bit tart and the tangerine Demi was simply raw cold tangerine slices. My salad was small with only five pieces of cut up fillet. This is frustrating to us since we live only a mile away and had such high hopes for this restaurant. How disappointing to pay for a meal that just misses the mark but demands a steep price. read more

Here's the thing: Elliott's should be good. But after 5 visits, I have to accept that it's just not. It masquerades as a farm to table, high service, carefully crafted food and dining experience. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired with low ceilings, crowded tables, and stained upholstered chairs. The service is mind numbingly slow and every waiter seems so unsure of the menu, selections, and specials. We waited 30 minutes for dessert that never came. I had to get up and flag down a waiter because one of the many flies in the restaurant was floating in my wine glass and after 15 minutes I was done hoping he'd come by. There were only 5 tables worth in the whole restaurant and several waiters. The food: it's just not well thought out. I'm not sure the chef tries any of it...the caprese salad had 3 widdled leaves of basil, thick flavorless tomatoes, and honestly, it was just a lot of work strangely to eat. The salmon is great, that's why they get an extra star. The filet mignon has tricked me twice now by sounding amazing on the menu but being oddly bland in real life. The cocktail menu, what's with the cocktail menu? Why are we charring herbs and throwing foliage in EVERY cocktail? One or two, fine. But the whole selection is one kind of palette. It reminds me of someone's hobby that probably started out great but lost its way somewhere around the paper casing chorizo on the charcuterie board. read more

Absolutely awful service! Waited 1.5 hours for our very expensive entrees. Once our dinner finally arrived, every entree but one was cold!!! No apologies at all, our server looked at me with a quick glare for complaining. Our bill was over $200.00. Wow, this place was outstanding. Their menu was delightful--too many good choices. I had the shrimp and grits for a starter and stuffed chicken and waffle for entree. The food was OUTSTANDING. Seasoned well and very flavorful. I didn't really want dessert, but they brought an absolutely beautiful dessert tray to the table so I was persuaded. As for drinks, they had a great choice of reasonably priced beers, and a good selection of bourbons and scotch. The service was attentive and very well versed with the menu which obviously changes often. A really great dining experience that won't be forgotten quickly. After a spectacular round of golf in Pinehurst wanted to find a great place to eat near the course I was at. I just so happened to find this place on yelp and saw that it had quite a few great reviews plus I have been to Pinehurst area before and haven't seen a whole lot of great dining spots that really sound like places worth the trip and not just convenient to the nearest golf course. This one happened to be convenient and definitely a memorable dining experience. I had the duck medium rare and really loved this dish overall. It was cooked to perfection and really was plates beautifully. For starters we had the shrimp and grits which was a better than average dish and I loved the sauce. My date had the flounder, gnocchi, and it came with a few mussels that were sadly not fresh and very fishy. It's too bad about this because the flounder was fresh and delicious and so was the gnocchi and sauce in the dish. Overall both dishes were great and we finished with a beautiful maple bourbon creme brûlée for dessert which decadent and everything it should be. Food: 9/10 Dishes are all beautiful, tasty, and innovative. Price: 7/10 you get what you pay for. Ambiance: 8/10 cute place that makes you feel very comfortable and unique Service: 9/10 excellent as would be expected at a place like this. Will definitely return! read more

Tier 1 date night spot in Pinehurst, NC. Best to leave the kids at home so you can enjoy yourselves here and make it more affordable as well! (Or get more drinks!) Service: greeted warmly as soon as we walked in! We sat in the bar area which was a little cramped. Waitress was very helpful in recommending selections for us. This is nice because my wife usually takes a while deciding haha Price: My glass of Pinot Noir was $7.5, Wife's Margarita was $13. We split the flash fried calamari appetizer that was $14. Then a second round of the Margaritas. The bill can run high here but it's worth it! Ambience: Low level lighting with candles and fresh flowers at every table. Noise level is medium to high on a Friday evening. Inside furnished with wooden walls and tables giving the restaurant a rustic farm to table vibe.
