Eat anywhere else in Deep Ellum. The service here is beyond slow. We were one of two tables and it took 45 minutes to get our dinner. The food wasn't well prepared. We must've came on a very off day for the restaurant... service was bad, food was bad and cold, or never came out. The staff seemed overwhelmed to keep up with their guests while the restaurant was only maybe 15% occupied. Very disappointed to say the least as we came to brunch for a friend's birthday and had gloated about my first great experience here. Half the tables food came out at once while the other half waited nearly until everyone had finished their meals before they received theirs. And of the ones that came out, most of the meals were cold. One of the first plates to be delivered were the chilaquiles, and those came out so cold it felt like they had just pulled it out of a refrigerator. We sent it back to the kitchen to make another and it never came back out. I also got a wagyu burger that came out cold, dry, and missing ingredients from the what was listed on the menu. Needless to say it was apparent that we were let down and was comped the chilaquiles that never came and only 1 round of drinks. This meal was a HUGE miss and do not recommend coming here unless you like lots of time waiting for service, cold expensive food, and lack of attention to detail. This place should be called elm & bad. The food was just terrible - we ordered 2 appetizers, one entree, one side, and two drinks and not a single item was even relatively tasty. The tomato sauce on the patatas bravas tasted like bad bottled sauce from the grocery store. The Brussels sprouts were undercooked and tasted of oil more than anything else. The rice on the mushroom paella was severely overcooked, and the entire dish tasted like nothing. The side of grilled broccolini didn't even have salt or pepper on it - just plain. Lastly, I'm not one to judge ambiance if the food is good - but there were tons of flies and fruit flies swarming our table. Made it impossible to enjoy the meal and was pretty disgusting. We didn't eat more than a few bites of any dish and paid entirely too much for one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Period. read more

We usually never eat at the hotel restaurant. Im glad we did this time. The club sandwich and burger was better than any meal we ate during our 4 day stay. Service was 5 star. Really enjoyed our late Sunday brunch here! Came in around 1:30 for a party of 8 and it was nicely spacious and just stunning. Our group shared the hush puppies, breadbasket and Brussel sprouts and it was a perfect trio of apps! The biscuits and jalapeño corn bread were spot on. Elm & Good is a super chic farmhouse inspired restaurant tucked away in an upscale corner of deep Ellum. It's attached to the gorgeous Kimpton Pittman hotel which immediately elevates its aesthetic. The decor is clean, modern, and effortless, and it feels like you're grabbing a light brunch at a friend's trendy vacation home in upstate New York. Our waiter, Rayne, was lovely, professional and accommodating throughout our entire brunch. Our glasses were never empty and she checked up on us just enough to know we were taken care of. The food at Elm & Good is just as beautiful as the inside. The presentation of all of our dishes was lovely, but the winner of the afternoon was the Buttermilk Pancakes. It takes passion and skill to elevate the most simple breakfast food to an element that belongs to a 5 Star dish. The pancakes were robust and thick but still airy and moist and the lemon curd and pure maple syrup put it over the top. Another winner of our brunch was the Steak & Eggs, with both elements cooked to absolute perfection. The steak was melt-in-your-mouth good and had the most gorgeous pink center. We were staying downtown for the night and needed a brunch spot for the morning. We were not disappointed at all! Service: excellent. We came in for dinner last night with a group of 7. The host was friendly and sat us immediately, even though our party was incomplete. She even took our drink order for us, so two thumbs up to her. Once our actual server came over things went downhill quickly. Rebecca (I only know her name because I saw it on the check) did not introduce herself or give us any sort of greeting really. She made it very clear from the start that she was not happy to be taking care of us. Granted, our reservation was at 9 PM and we didn't realize that this place closes at 10. I've been in the service industry for years and know how frustrating that can be, but you put a smile on your face and deal with it. We ordered the mushroom cakes, redfish ceviche, hush puppies, and riblets as apps for the table. Those were all pretty good! We asked for recommendations on some entrees but Rebecca didn't seem to have much knowledge about the menu. She said that a couple of the entrees were really good because of the greens on top, particularly the redfish. Entrees came out and everything looked great. Very visually appealing. The redfish and mushroom paella were both pretty good but everything else was SO salty, especially the clam linguini. There wasn't one person at the table who was blown away by their meal. Nobody ever stopped by again to ask how we were doing or how anything tasted. As soon as our entrees were cleared Rebecca dropped the check and let us know that for parties of 6 or more they cannot split checks. This really isn't a big deal nowadays thanks to Venmo and Zelle. The unacceptable part is that we were charged a $77 gratuity! Everyone in our party agrees that Rebecca did absolutely nothing that warranted a $77 tip. We felt rushed and unwanted the entire meal. Her service was genuinely awful. It takes a lot for me to complain at a restaurant, and especially to take the time to write a bad review. However, this experience overall was pretty terrible and the cost for such bad service and underwhelming food was absolutely ridiculous. We only get this group together a few times a year so this was a big disappointment to us. I give it 2 stars because the host was so friendly and some of the food was decent. read more

As a hotel guest I tried to LOVE this restaurant for the convenience of being downstairs of my hotel at the Pittman Hotel. Once we got seated they took are drink order efficiently! I ordered a cappuccino I actually had 2 because they were made TO PERFECTION! Zero complaints there other than it wasn't busy Saturday morning and taking are food order we had to ask 2 times for someone to take are order. On to the the meals, ordered avocado toast, checked out the ingredients off the menu and asked for no pickled shallots and I seen that it said herb salad which in the photos on yelp looked like sprouts which I love on my avocado toast. Meanwhile after waiting a long time for my order to be taken my long behold my avocado toast comes out with EVERYTHING ON IT, mind you the "herb salad" wasn't sprouts as the photo is was actually CILANTRO, yuck. Didn't want to complain I scraped it off because I was STARVING at this point. When the waiter came by he asked if I didn't like it and I kindly said no I asked for this stuff not to be on and I wasn't aware cilantro would come on and he said I'll have to get that checked out. AGAIN THIS COMPLAINT IS NOT ON STAFF BC THEY WERE HELPFUL. I hate and I mean HATE getting it reduced off the bill bc that's not what I expect. I expected to receive what I ordered that's all. So the gentlemen was kind enough to take it off bill and did that without us knowing until he gave us the bill. Day 2. Sunday morning this place does get busy unlike Saturday morning. We were standing in line for 15 minutes on the dot until we got seated. It was a bit crowded.l as far as tables and seats (none of the stool tables has ppl just to give you insight). I made sure I ordered the avocado toast correctly today. Told my server please only would like avocado and tomatoes. He said got it and the food came out faster today and are order was taken quickly. Which was a PLUS being that it was actually busy and they were SUPER EFFICIENT. My avocado toast came out with everything on it (argh) and topped off with 2 over easy eggs?! Which it's optional for a egg for extra cost but I did not ask. Again I kindly said sorry I specifically asked for just avocado and tomato and server took it to the back and waiter came to apologize bc the cook put my guest eggs on my toast. They brought out what I asked for this time bread was extremely soft and soggy as I held up the toast to take a bite it dropped and broke off which led me not to even eat it. Like I said I wanted to love this place bc I loved the hotel stay, but I couldn't. To the STAFF, you are extremely kind and accommodating but as for myself traveling from Las Vegas I didn't get to enjoy this restaurant for the 4.5 starts it's proceeds itself to be. read more

We were inspired to try elm & good after it was listed on Dallas top 50 restaurants. We also love trying local spots, so Sunday brunch it was! We made a reservation for 2 at 1:30pm, though doesn't seem one was necessary. There were other guests in the building but wasn't busy by any means. Took about 3 min for a host to greet us and bring us to a table, not a big deal. We were seated at a table by the kitchen line which we enjoyed because we like seeing how the kitchen works and food is prepared. Overall the ambience is very nice, loved the live music and environment was great. Our server brought us waters but never gave an official greeting or introduction so we didn't really know that she was our server at the time. After the initial "greet", she was nowhere to be found so we flagged over another individual who I believe was the manager. We ordered the hush puppies and drinks through him. Hush puppies came out before the drinks, but they were excellent. Came with 5 to the order (phone did not eat first) and the accompaniments were a unique but delicious twist to a classic appetizer. I will note - there was not an appetizer section of the brunch menu. We ordered them as an appetizer because it made sense to us. The drinks arrived (Bloody Mary and blackberry whiskey smash) and though they took a while to reach the table, they were well crafted and well presented. We asked our server for recommendations as I'm a vegetarian. She said she didn't really know, however said they have fruit and fries. Not necessarily what I'm looking for :) My boyfriend asked her what the most popular dishes were on the menu, to which she replied "the hush puppies but I don't really know". Mind you - the hush puppies had already been consumed. She walked away and we were a bit disappointed, however she did return with a few recommendations after consulting with her manager which was appreciated. From a service standpoint, we would have appreciated her letting us know she would go find an answer to our questions initially. Food was great but was definitely full half way through. I loved the goat cheese on the avocado toast and the egg was cooked to perfection. It was a great twist to a traditional breakfast item. Boyfriend loved his redfish sandwich! Great portion sizes and culinary detail. We were promptly handed the check when my boyfriend stated he was ok on drinks. This was a bit rude as we would've wanted to take a look at desert just out of curiosity, or I may have wanted to have another drink. To recap: For 62$ before tip - I believe the quality of the food and drinks was well worth it. The service fell short. As a former restaurant industry processional I strongly believe customer service will make or break a restaurant - people go out for an experience and if it was solely down to the food people would cook at home more often (we would, at least). Just being nit picky but there was a typo on the menu w the spelling of "goat cheese" on the avocado toast (lol) - paying attention to detail is how you establish trust with your guests and establish regulars. I recently celebrated my birthday here for their Sunday brunch and it was amazing. They had live music by a pianist who was very enthusiastic with the guests and restaurant. The ambiance is so cute too!! Spacious with beautiful natural lighting. Our server was Adrian and he was was so sweet, attentive, engaging in conversation with my party of 6 AND he even brought 2 free drinks for my table. Dining with him was spectacular. Please ask for him when you go. The food was amazing as well. The hush puppies are excellent! I had the salmon entree on a everything bagel and it was flavorful! I'm a fan of this new restaurant, originally from San Francisco and was so impressed by the cocktails here! I read about this new location on Eater and was more than excited to try it out! I saw some photos and were drawn to the modern, clean look of this restaurant! I came here on a date just for cocktails and light eats, this place is perfect for that! Flexible enough to have a 1:1 dinner or a group dinner in their large dining hall. The ambiance of the place is dark and date night, the drink list is endless with creative cocktails that will get you going! Their wine list matches this as well, though I was more excited about the garnishes I saw at the bar. For food we order apps: Trout spread, baratta with tomato paste, triple fried fries. All the food was great and came fresh still steaming! The most impressive was the baratta with tomato paste; it was tangy yet spicy from the chili oil which we enjoyed! I am a Diamond Elite member traveling for business, staying at the Kimpton-Pittman Hotel. I get free vouchers to come and try this place for breakfast, and the service is terrible. Let's start by me calling the hotel front desk and asking if there was a dress code, "No, not at all, enjoy yourself" to get down there with my husband and Kenneth lets me specifically know that I am not allowed without shoes on, socks on, but no shoes is not allowed, in what OSHA handbook or law does it state you have to wear shoes in a hotel restaurant. You don't it's not a law in the entire US. For the rest of the time here ordering our food after we got shoes, he didn't speak to us the entire time, wrote down our orders, never gave us refills and tried handing me a check. Not realizing I was a diamond elite member and I don't have to pay him his 78$. Lesson learned the staff (Kenneth) in particular is very rude and disrespectful, not a friendly casual environment like they say. We did not "enjoy" the experience. My husband and I both got the American Breakfast, over easy eggs are full cooked, scrambled eggs are left watery, potatoes have no flavor, the bacon was great, served with a side of arugula that's sour and bitter, they won't ever give you a refill they keep water at your table, and they'll give you a side plate of different sauces that stay out and set for hours and it's bad. Tried Elm and Good on Saturday night and the experience was not overwhelming. Arrived at 7 and ordered drinks and food shortly after. Food didn't arrive until 8:45 and it wasn't exactly hot. The man who brought out the food has little knowledge of what he was handing us. There was much confusion. It took an act of Congress to flag someone down to ask for another drink. Had to ask for silverware twice and finally had to loudly get the attention of the Hispanic gentleman who may have been a manager or host with a sleeve tattoo above his right elbow. He spent the evening running around giving the impression something wasn't quite right. Asked for the check shortly after getting the food trying to spur our nonexistent server. Our check came a 9:28pm. Despite the crap service the ambiance at night is great. Low lighting, not loud music. During the daylight it's just an undefined sterile white space with plates on a wall. The redfish was tender and flavorful, the spinach was also cooked well. The chicken fried mushroom was reportedly delicious and tasted like a great meat alternative. The roasted carrots, reportedly were not in anyway special. However, the Fava beans it's served with were "the best part of the dish." The schnitzel was on the rare side. Not just pink but super pink/red in places. Would have asked the server about it... but he was no where to be seen. This place has to survive because it's in a hotel with a constant influx of new diners. I can't imagine people repeatedly making an effort to dine here with such poor service. read more

If you love a great lavender lemonade, the Pre-show is what you want to order. Our bartender, Marco was amazing and suggested this drink and he was right on!!! Wow!!!!! Took the family to Elm & Good last night and it was amazing!!!! Pre dinner margaritas were some of the best! Appetizers were spot on and very creative. Hush puppies and pork riblets were favorites at the table. I had the 44 Farms Beef Bavette. Wow!!! Cooked to perfection and had a perfect smokey taste. The kicker was when we waited for our entrees for an hour and ten minutes and our food was still not even cooked or close to being ready. Also, in the hour and a half we sat there, our waiter didn't refill our water even one time despite asking multiple times. Place wasn't even busy. Now I know why. An abomination of an experience. We cancelled our entrees b/c we didn't want to sit there dying of thirst and without food for another couple of hours. Complete waste of time. They couldn't even manage to bring us bread while we waited. Manager apologized and gave us his card and told us to email him to set up a complimentary meal. I emailed him. No response. Incredibly disappointed. We made brunch reservations here a month in advance for Easter weekend (which just happens to coincide with my birthday). Two days before, they call to confirm (which we do), and they tell us that now for this day's brunch, they're doing a set $75 menu per person. Which is A LOT more price wise than what their usual brunch entrees are. This is unsurprisingly outside our budget. since we made the reservation in advance of this, without being told about it ahead of time, we asked if we could order off the normal menu. To which they said no. Now we are without a reservation on an incredibly busy time slot, which just happens to be on my birthday. So thank you Elm and Good. Our family went to brunch to celebrate the new 2023 year. We were taken to our table quickly by a very friendly waitress. Although there was a special menu, "Boozy New Year's Brunch", we decided to order from the a la carte menu. We ordered buttermilk pancakes and two American breakfasts. The waitress said that they offered the best American breakfast in town. We also ordered a carafe of mimosa. It was a short time for our food to be served. When our food arrived, I saw that the eggs were scrambled, not fried, although the waitress never asked how we wanted our eggs. I asked about this, and our waitress said that I had to have asked for fried eggs or the kitchen automatically served scrambled eggs. This doesn't seem right; I would assume the waitress would ask our preference at the time of ordering. I didn't tell her that she never asked because I didn't want to embarrass her or make her feel bad. I ordered a side of fried eggs. She also didn't ask what type of bread we wanted with our American breakfast. I guess the kitchen automatically defaults to toasted whole wheat, but for this price, I would expect a choice of buttermilk biscuits or French bread toast, not just the bland whole wheat toast that was served. The carafe of champagne was served with three small glasses of orange juice, pineapple juice and grape juice. We had the option to pick any juice, including mixing any of the juices. The waitress mixed the mimosa in front of us and had to guess at the right ratio of juice to champagne for each glass. This results in inconsistent taste. I picked orange juice for my mimosa which she poured for me. The mimosa had a strong acidic taste, so I added more juice. However, this did not improve the overall taste. (I saw the plastic bottle of Tropicana orange juice on the bar counter). I had assumed that the orange juice would have been fresh in an upscale restaurant which this restaurant appears to be based on its decor. One of our party decided to take their fries home but before we could finish boxing them, the waitress has already cleared the table and removed the small plastic dish of the truffle oil that was included when the fries were served. Perhaps my expectations were unreasonable. However, for a New Year's breakfast/brunch in a fancy restaurant which costs $126 for 3 people (not including the tip), I think the service should be more conscientiously provided, the orange juice should be fresh, and the pancakes should be flavorful (i.e., buttermilk). I can't imagine that I would return to this restaurant in the future. But at least I will be able to share my underwhelming experience with friends and the public so that they will not be disappointed as I was. read more

It's apparent that they have really thought through their food and beverage menu, and the knowledge of Gregory (our bartender) for pairing cocktails with meals was very tasteful. Admittedly, I am a bit of a lazy yelper, as I don't often get around to writing reviews. But my experience at Elm & Good was so fantastic, it would be an injustice not to share. First off, the cocktails were so unique and delicious, and truly worth every penny. My favorite was the Gypsy Tea Room, a rum based cocktail, that was incredibly flavorful and perfectly balanced. I also tried the Bridges Over Bryan St. which was equally delicious and very refreshing. I'm not a whiskey fan, but I also sampled two of their whiskey based cocktails, the Old Fashioned and the Model T, and they were both amazing. I would easily go back just to try more of their drinks. As far as food goes, everything exceeded expectations. The hush puppies we got as a starter were excellent and the pomodoro soup was mind-blowing. For entrees, I had the Scottish salmon and it was definitely the best salmon I've had in Dallas. It was cooked perfectly and the accompanying blend of flavors was mouth-watering. My fiance had the wagyu strip steak which was also cooked to perfection and the broccolini it was served with was seriously to die for. Maybe even my favorite thing of the entire night, which is not an easy decision since everything was so amazing. Our friend had the beef bavette, which he said was the best meal he'd had this year. I love a good dessert, but typically won't go for it unless chocolate is involved. I decided to make an exception here to try their dessert offering, a beignet flight, since everything we'd consumed up to that point had been spectacular. I'm not sure I have the words to describe how good it was. The beignets were light and fluffy and there was some sort of berry/lemony custard or glaze which is usually not my thing, but my goodness it was magical! So now that you know you can't go wrong with anything you eat or drink here, the service and atmosphere were equally impressive. Our server, I believe his name was Adrian (sp?), was helpful, kind, and attentive throughout. I have been erring on the side of caution and not venturing out much during Covid times, but I felt incredibly safe here. Tables were distanced, sanitizer was plentiful, and they were quick to fully clean and sanitize after each party left. I have always been surprised by the number of high-quality, fine dining establishments in Dallas that really disrupt the dining experience by blasting music, particularly during dinner. I am so grateful that this was not the case here. The music was pleasant, kept at a moderate level, and you could easily hold a conversation. Also, Elm & Good is decorated in a way that is cool and stylish, without being over the top trendy. Additionally, the table I sat at had a bench/wall seat that was incredibly comfy. OK so we stayed at the hotel and so we decided to eat here, we were able to get free breakfast for two as well as we ate dinner which was not free. Dinner was absolutely amazing, we really loved the host her name was Emily ! We also loved our waitress she is from New Orleans so we connected when I let her know that I love New Orlens as well. The bartender was super cool, I didn't get to drink but we did record a reel for Instagram together which is super cool. I absolutely loved dinner we ordered a pan seared chicken, a brussels sprout salad and a triple fried french fries, my husband didn't eat his salad but when we said we wanted to share the chicken they brought it out in two plates which I really loved. He said he loved the brussels sprout but he was just too full. I ate most of the triple fry french fries but I don't know that I would order it again. Now breakfast was a different story because I was about to give it five stars we came in in the morning people looked at us I asked do we seat ourselves and he answered yes and then basically didn't really talk to us and when I ask is there any kind of meat that's not pork he said no and I said wow that means I can't eat any meat and he just looked at me so I was super awkward. I literally removed one star just because he was so odd and it was not friendly at all. I'm glad I had a great experience for dinner but if I had come during breakfast I would definitely have given it a one star. Oh and I forgot I was on FaceTime with my mom and it's so funny because we were literally there before they close and so nobody was there it was literally two other tables and ours and I guess the manager came to let me know I was disrupting the peace lol which is so stupid because if my husband and I were talking we could be talking the same way it was just very odd !
