The service was great. My kids were a little cranky and staff were kind and patient. The food was amazing and really had that "hometown diner" feel packing flavor and love into each dish. The good angels were watching us. We had planned to go to another breakfast place, but the wait times were 45 minutes plus. We called Jimmy's and they said it was moving fast and the wait was about 10 minutes. So we headed that way. The wait was exactly that, 10 minutes. But to our delight, this place was featured by Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins & Dives show. My wife and I are big fans of the show. My sister and I came here for breakfast after a girls night out! We were hungry and wanted a good hearty breakfast. The service here was great. From the music, to the decor, to what the waitresses wear - it was all part of the oldies theme and super fun. We loved the vibe. It reminded us of our Dad. My sister got a scramble and thought it was good. It wasn't anything amazing, but it was what she wanted/needed to fill her belly. I got the stuffed French toast with strawberries. I unfortunately did not like it. It was dry and the "stuffed" was just two dry pieces of bread with wayyyy too much sweet cream filling between them. It was more like a sandwich than stuffed French toast, and it was WAY too sweet. It really needed something savory or some kind of crunch to round out the dish, and the French toast def needed to be soaked in the mixture longer to avoid it being as dry as it was. The most of the food I had here (3 separate breakfasts) were decent. Mostly your classic diner food, if anything a bit under-salted and over-buttered. The only real standout was the Pecan Caramel Roll, I would visit this restaurant for that roll alone, and it really is the only consistent reason to visit. The wait staff is all friendly, and the old diner-style vibe of the uniforms is fun. It is a small and cozy spot, with a lot of memorabilia from their time on Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives. One of my favorite places to eat at Coeur d'Alene! I found out about this place from Diner's, Drive Ins, and Dives, and they talked about the chicken and dumplings soup. Watching it made me want to check this place out! I love going to a good classic diner since I live in Vegas and there are hardly any diners (that I know of) like these. I felt like I stepped in to time going here. It's like the classic diner you see in the movies, and the servers were dressed nice with their summer dresses and pearls. I had the chicken and dumplings soup, which is only available on week-ends. It was perfectly packed with flavor, and I liked the chewy dumplings and the cooked bread soaked in the broth. A wonderful young local recommended Jimmy's Down the Street and we were not disappointed. Since we're traveling, we wanted basic breakfast; eggs, sausage or bacon, hash browns and the biggest biscuit we have ever seen. In fact, the portions were generous. There were loads of other breakfast and lunch offerings. If they don't serve it, you don't need it! My scrambled eggs were perfect. When eggs are cooked properly, they are divine. The fried eggs were also cooked well. The hash browns were golden, crispy and tender. It doesn't get any better. The sausage patty seemed homemade, which was obvious and heavenly. The delicious disc of spicy, juicy, large patty was yummy. The only miss was the biscuit. It was HUGE but dry and lacking in flavor. It may have been better had it been served with real butter. Whatever it was served with wasn't butter. It had a funny, odd "off" taste. Jimmy's is a classic diner in all the best ways; checkered table cloths, 50's and 60's music in the background, license plates from all over interspersed with photos and vintage signs, great staff. We were too full to try the pecan rolls, highlighted in an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Sigh.... What stood out is the thoughtful and impressive messages on the menu stating, in more than one place, the listed prices are CASH prices; That a 2% processing fee will be added to credit cards.
