Wine vibes!

Elusa is truly effortless luxury in Calistoga! The modern tasting room can accommodate approximately 25, while their outdoor area can accommodate up to 100 guests with high tops. They have a quaint comfy patio area with comfy seating to the right of the tasting room, as well as traditional patio seating in front of the entrance. Their staff members were super friendly with an extensive knowledge of wine. Reservations required, no walk-ins. I tasted three wines: * Sauvignon Blanc * Cabernet Sauvignon * Petite Syrah Be sure to stop in for a visit and tell them a Diva sent you! Cheers

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Elusa Winery and trying their wines. Our host, James, greeted us the door with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc to start the tour, and it only got better from there. We toured three different tasting rooms and saw all the unique artwork in each room (my favorite was a beautiful copper piece made out of firing a canon ball through the sheets of copper) We saw the fermentation room, walked the cave of barrels, and entered our tasting room in the middle of the cave. We tasted at a beautiful table surrounded by an industrial feel of wood and glass. Our tasting room was lit by 60 overhead Edison light bulbs. We had the privilege of trying the newly released 2022 Cabernet Franc and 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon. These were absolutely delicious wines, even young and right out of the bottle they were vibrant and amazing. Elusa was such a memorable experience and I highly recommend visiting for an experience and meeting James to hear his passion behind the winery and wines.

We were invited for a complimentary tasting to this winery up in Calistoga north of Napa. The tasting was called a vertical tasting which was a taste of the same Cabernet Sauvignon in different vintages. It came with a charcuterie board which complemented the wine very well. Our host Natalya was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and winery. She gave us a tour of the production building and barrel room. We sat at their outside patio where our pup was allowed. The patio is adjacent to the parking lot which was very distracting and didn't have a relaxing ambiance for wine tasting. The wine was very good but was a bit too pricey.

Beautiful seated tasting experience at Elusa

Located at the brand new Four Seasons, Elusa winery makes world class wine with the critically acclaimed wine maker Thomas River Brown. We tasted the beautiful Sauvignon Blanc that was aged 9 months in oak that gave the rich flavor. The 2014 petit sirah was tasting amazing. Also a big fan of the kenefick ranch cabernet franc. Tasted the library Cabernet (2012) that was drinking nicely now and still very vibrant. Our wine educator was knowledgeable and delivered a great experience. I highly recommend it! Advance appointment required!

We randomly came across this winery while exploring the area. Jocelyn was so nice and welcoming and everyone was so kind. I'm pregnant so I couldn't drink, but my husband said the wine was delicious! We'll be back.

I wish I would've gotten something special for my occasion while there. Like a signed bottle or something marking the special occasion. It was just the perfect experience all the way around. interesting that it was also the 50th anniversary of the Chardonnay that made Chateau Montelena & Napa Valley famous. Of course, we checked out and bought 2 bottles of reds at the end of the tasting without even thinking about buying the white. So disappointed that didn't occur to me to this morning. I mean the red cab's are just to amazing on there own. Ok so here is how the visit went. When we showed up early at 9:30am, we actually meant to just walk around the lake and view the birds. We made no reservations as we figured the place was fully booked for months. So we just wanted to at least see the famous vineyard.. we drove up and we immediately noticed the beautiful grounds. I mean stunning in every way. We even watched and photographed a beautiful white swan gracefully move throughout the lake. Afterwards, we walked up the path to the chateau and was presented with a old historic and charming building residence. Absolutely stunning, a complete representation of the movie bottle shock. We continued to walk around the building where we were allowed to enter the wine tasting room. At first, we were unsure of what to expect. I believe her name was Lynn invited us to have a tasting. Everyone was so gracious and nice. Just felt so sophisticated & elegant in every way. Lynn was so nice and inviting that I just wanted to say thanks to her again. You made our tasting feel amazing. We ended up buying 2 bottles of red cab when we were there to avoid paying for the tasting. I mean I'm so happy that I got to experience this winery. The history and quality wine making really is the standard for the area. A complete must visit if your ever in Calistoga. Thank you.

We didn't sit at the far end and when the hostess came she made the request again and we pointed out the fact that that end of the table was wet. She moved us to the screened in porch. This wasn't a problem except for it was lightly raining before we arrived and it got heavier and there didn't seem to be a real plan in place. She did state that since they had guests staying the home they don't host tastings inside. Well not sure if the rule changed because 3/4 of the way through our tasting the next tasting arrived and they were set to have their tasting in the house. This was only one disappointing aspect of the visit. The hostess was not dressed professionally and we were served what seemed like boxed breadsticks that were extremely hard and tasteless. The wines were okay but definitely priced higher than in the store. We visited because the other couple in our party buys Amici at home and they thought it would be great to schedule a tasting. The experience was overall disappointing.

She is the definition of true hospitality. The atmosphere is laid back and welcoming. This property is friendly to all, including children, dogs, and cigars! Dress code is casual and the attitude is down to earth and not pretentious, so if you identify as a relaxed and casual person, you'll do just fine here! The wine tastings offer some on and off menu items, so you are getting what the menu promises and more. I enjoyed the 2021 Envy Chenin Blanc, the 2020 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2019 Borderline Petite Syrah. One of the off menu items was the dessert port wine, which I suggest to have with a piece of dark chocolate. A truly great pairing. I highly recommend Envy wines for the value and service provided!

The tasting cost $40 for 6 pours, starting with a rose and ending with a Cabernet Sauvignon. I am not very fond of reds but all the ones that were on the tasting menu that day were very good. The rose was my favorite. I was talking to the owner and he mentioned that he prefers to be out making wine instead of pouring and I can see that. Also, the pours were very tiny. There was not much information shared about the wine etc, he left the bottle with the information side turned towards you to read up on your own. The place itself is beautiful and it used to be a hardware store. It's right next to the city hall and across the street from the police station. There is street parking as well as a public parking lot next to the police station. The place is dog friendly and the owner bought out a bowl of water for my baby. Our appointment was made the week beforehand for Jan 3rd at about 2pm. Our preference is red wines. They noted this when taking the reservation and promised to provide reminder email/text the day of the tasting. A good start. The tasting room is in the northern part of the Napa Valley in Calistoga. Gorgeous setting. We were greeted as we walked up to the door by Estate Manager Ryan Hughes. He was friendly, engaging, and created a relaxed atmosphere from the beginning. He let us know this would be a private tasting. I knew I was in trouble with a capital "T" almost immediately. The tasting table was preset with stemware and water pitchers. Elegant but not stuffy. I noticed jazz background music immediately - Coltrane: A Love Supreme is spinning on the vinyl record player. Classic. The wall facing the small vineyard is a picture glass window providing a spectacular view. They know how to set a stage. It only got better as we were given the best tasting presentation I've ever had. He was informative, educational and seemed interested in our opinions. Even though this setting could be seen as formal, it was the opposite. The wines were excellent. An outstanding group of global labels and wines were sampled. I don't need to be a member of another wine club, but I couldn't help myself. There was no turning away. We left with the 4 bottles of our favorites (our friends with 2 more). And I can't wait for the next shipment. I guess "A Love Supreme" was apropos.
