Best Mexican food in town! I tried this restaurant a few years back and didn't care for the food but I recently went again with friends and family and I don't know what they did but the food was amazing! The Al pastor was the best I've ever had from a restaurant. The chips and salsa were excellent. Everything everyone ordered was so good there were no leftovers and the service was awesome. It was busy and we had young children and lots of special requests and the waitresses were very attentive and patient. We will definitely be returning read more

Each time I have had the same experience and I have tried different things. Now I'm not saying the food is bad. But Benicia in general is lacking good Mexican food. I tend to go to Rellik once or twice a week and often wondered how Elvia Ritas was, so we finally tried it out. After the waitress took our order, wait time for our food was over 30 minutes and the carne asada quesadilla I ordered was greasy and salty. On top of that, we were charged $15.99 for the "BURNT" cheese enchilada platter when on the menu it was listed at $13.99. I asked the waitress if it was a mistake, she stated the charge included tax. I pulled out my receipt to show her tax was a different amount. Rather than apologize for the mistake, she said "We deducted a DOLLAR from the total". Unbelievable!! This waitress will nickel and dime a customer!! Now I know to NEVER go back. Food was "meh" but service was completely tacky. read more

What happened to this place? Used to be our favorite but they clearly don't give a [redacted] anymore. As they say, fool me once, won't get fooled again (Bush). Bean and rice burrito had no rice and sloppy beans at best. Like soup. But it ain't soup. It's a burrito. What the frijoles, ese? The cook clearly doesn't care. What a gem in the heart of Benicia! This is simply the best Mexican food in the area. The friendly, hard working staff are a big part of the small town / family vibe that has us returning time and time again. We are greeted with complementary chips and salsa, regular (more spicy) salsa or mild or both. We typically enjoy a clean margarita and some bean dip while checking out the menu that includes something for everyone. My current personal favorite is the shrimp fajita dinner but I can heartily recommend the pastor street tacos, cheese enchiladas, chili rellenos, and tamales. Great food and service...I love the Chile Verde and Chiles Rellenos. The Elviarita is an awesome drink also.

Just left. After waiting half an hour for drinks we were told our order had never been turned in. We ordered food and after an hour and a half it showed up cold. We left hungry. The last review was in about September 2019. Recently (March 2020) we ordered for pick up. The food was excellent. We will definitely go back when they're open again and retry the service! read more

Food is really good but for some reason they are closed from 2:30 to 5:00 every afternoon, including weekends. I work during the week and like to go out on Saturday or Sunday afternoon for a beer and Mexican food, but of course, this place is "prepping" food during a peek time for business. Very disappointed. Lunch was well-priced but the steak in the steak fajitas was tough, tough, ugly tough. I saw a mountain-sized nacho-dish served across the room, I could only hope if the beef was in that pile, the customer had a good dental plan. I was not very impressed. I had a carne asada burrito and it was mostly lettuce and sour cream. The burrito fell apart almost instantly and the meat was pretty rubbery. They threw in some free chips and salsa with the order which was nice, but I don't think I'll be back here. read more

Came here last week after having attended a local tasting event. What drew me in were the meatballs and to be honest, I wish I had had them for dinner on this occasion. But seeing as though their listing suggested they are a Mexican food establishment, I had the flautas. They were nicely crisp, but not filled to the ends (which I suppose is okay since I didn't finish my meal anyway). The beans were a bit watery & the rice was slightly salty, but okay overall. I will mention, however, that another member of my party, had the chimichanga. She enjoyed it thoroughly, also could not finish her meal and mentioned to me that she thought it was even better the next day, which is hard to imagine since my leftover flautas were already soggy later that night. And though the service was slow, the staff was friendly, the drinks were tasty and they didn't rush us out when we were still communing after closing time. Formally known as Randy's this place never disappoints! Excellent food, great atmosphere, good customer service and awesome people. Every time I'm pregnant, I ALWAYS crave their salsa it's super tasty with just the right spice. They're so nice that they give me a container for free, they always go the extra mile to please their customers. I love always coming here and this will always be one of my go to places for great Mexican food and even better salsa. Try their super chicken nachos, but beware it's enough to feed a small village. The food has gotten so much better! We used to eat here all the time back when it was Randy's. After the ownership changed, the food was really bad so we stopped eating here. Now with covid-19, we decided to give it another try because they offer curbside pick-up for Taco Tuesday. Wow. The quality of food seems way better. Terrible. I ordered a super burrito & couldn't find the meat plus the tortilla was burnt.

First, I wanna say the service here is pretty good and as much as I disliked the food, the workers were very nice. Me and my family ordered the carne asada nachos, the chicken quesadilla, and the al pastor burrito. The nachos were actually very good but the only downside is they use this very generic Kraft "Mexican" cheese on it and I think they melt the cheese while on top of the chips (kinda like they microwaved it) which makes the tortilla chips underneath taste stale. The chicken in the quesadilla was very plain with no seasoning and still uses the same cheese as the nachos. Tasted like something I could make at home. They didn't give salsa on the side but instead only sour cream??? It was very tasteless. Lastly, the burrito is the worst thing you can get here. The rice and beans were very plain. I also don't understand why lettuce is inside the burrito. The al pastor itself was actually pretty good but I feel like everything else wrapped in the tortilla made it very unsatisfying. read more

Had the best beef fajitas I've ever had today. I am not kidding. The steak was perfectly cooked, the beans and rice were cooked that extra little bit after being served directly into the cast iron skillet. I ordered a burrito and asked for No beans and rice and Spinach tortilla, and what did I get, the opposite regular flour burrito with everything I asked not to have on it. Will never step foot in this place again. Used to be a regular when it was under previous ownership. The food tasted like it came out of a can, the waiter was rude like we were wasting his time and the food took over an hour to arrive. Cheese enchilada was microwaved in a tortilla and not made traditionally, Green sauce was watery. Whole pinto beans were right out of a can, the rice was salty. There really is no good Mexican place in Benicia this place is definitely top 3 worst. I really wanted to like the food but it's not even Mexican. I ordered an al pastor super burrito, the burrito was loosely wrapped, it came with lettuce (who puts lettuce in a burrito) and it was doused in sour cream. The sour cream to meat ratio was 3:1. The rice was mushy again no flavor and non salted. The al pastor wasn't even al pastor it was covered in some weird spice sauce similar to a blender poblano pepper that has the consistency and texture of tandoori chicken but with a weird flavor that didn't taste Mexican and was just down right disgusting, it didn't go in the burrito at all. Honestly drive to Vallejo or any other place across the bridge for decent Mexican. The only thing that was good was the chips, the salsa paired with us was mediocre. 1 star doesn't go to the food it goes to the super nice servers. Save your money and go some where else, I do not recommend this place nor will I be returning. read more
